Leave for AC in T-minus 51 Days...
General | Posted 14 years agoPlain and simple, I will be attending AC this year. In fact, in 51 days I'll be leaving for it.
Not so simple, getting all prepared for it!
As a lot of us know, AC is a beast to take in. There's so much going on that it's tricky to do everything you want, and so far I'm attending and doing new things every year. This will be my 3rd AC, and just like the last two years I'm going to go and do new things.
One new thing I firmly know I'll be doing this year is performing in the Masquerade, it's something I've wanted to do. With the theme of the Con being Magic, it's a extra incentive for me to jump in and be a part of the show.
At first I had a mentalism skit in mind, which would have been one actual trick and the rest being "Carnac the Magnificent"...however that's being pushed aside as a back-up plan since a few days ago I ordered a magic trick I know I'll be able to pull off in suit with a bit of practice.
I also ordered the Goofy Movie Soundtrack since it has a song that's perfect for the act, though ironically the song I have in mind was used in the dance competition last year by
Media
Speaking of the dance competition, I'm thinking of entering that as well. I got a idea of what song to use and ironically once again, the song I'm leaning towards was used in the dance competition two years ago. (I can't help it, I'm picking songs that'll work for me.)
Either way, I know it's gonna' be a fun Summer...now with more Magic and Booty-Shakin'!

When Furballs Strike V (My first local meet)
General | Posted 14 years agoToday I decided to take a break from the mundane and hit up a local meet, this was my first one and from what happened today I know this won't be my last.
It was pretty much a bowling event at Kenmore Lanes, a bowling alley which is far larger (A monster 50 lanes!) then the alley near me. The sheer size of it certainly helped since over 90 furs attended! Changing into suit was no problem as well since the place has a large banquet room to use as a headless lounge.
Bowling in suit was a new experience, I managed to bowl over 100 and got a couple of strikes so that exceeded my expectations. Especially considering I still don't have contacts so I'm pretty much bowling blind.
There was also plenty of antics thanks to my lane partners,
carson10us , Nico, Able, and Dyno.
Also, the Pinball Wizard in me backflipped since the place had not only Simpsons Pinball Party, but also Theater of Magic.
Oh yes, I also have to mention I finally had a positive interaction with little kids. My last interaction was with my cousin on Halloween who's TERRIFIED of mascots. Thankfully today was a whole lot better, I was able to get a couple hi-fives and a hug from a few kids. One of the Moms thanked me so that made me feel great and all warm and fuzzy inside.
The event was a lot of fun, so kudos to
kijani_lion for setting it up.
Now the dinner afterwards was rather interesting, a group of about 40-50 furs went to a Red Robin since they put a reservation there. Now while we were running a little bit late, the person who made the reservation called ahead to let RR know they're almost there etc...however once we arrived, we found out RR gave the tables away.
So there was a huge mass of furs at the enterance to a very small Red Robin, now we saw the staff moving tables around and connecting them, so we thought that would be for us. However as it turns out, the place gave the tables to parties of 1, 2, 3...tiny groups. After waiting a bit we all decided to just head somewhere else since this was going nowhere fast.
The group split up, with one big chunk going to a mexican place, while the other went to Denny's. This proved to be a good idea since both places easily took in the groups that went. I was with the group that went to the mexican place, and for a resturant that was in a strip mall...they quickly accomodated about over 30 furs with no problem. Don't know how many went to Denny's, though they said they were able to use the party room due to the size.
Both places had no problem with the groups, and I heard that over at Denny's there was a really enthusiastic lady who wanted a group photo in front of the logo. So both spots made up for the RR fiasco.
Since I know I had plenty of pictures taken of me, I'll certainly be posting them soon.

SyFy's Face Off
General | Posted 15 years agoBeing a horror fan and general fan of creatures, make up and special effects...it really was no surprise that Syfy's newest show "Face Off" grabbed my attention.
What "Face Off" is a "reality competition" for make up/special effect artists, instead of cooking and making dresses...the artists are creating creatures and characters from their demented imaginations.
The show follows the same kind of format that shows like "Project Runway" and "Top Chef" uses, first there's a small challenge where the winner wins immunity and/or some kind of advantage for the main challenge. Then there's the main challange where there's a winner and a loser, with the loser being eliminated from the challenge.
Now just like many "reality competitions", there's various drama here and there between contestants. (Some of it feeling rather forced.)
For the premiere episode, the artists had to do a quick make up job of a face on a model using items in the room they were in. Some of the stuff was pretty neat, one guy looked like he had a boquet of flowers rammed in his face like a prom night gone really bad.
As for the main challenge, the artists were paired into teams and had to make a half human/half animal hybrid. Now they wern't given full range of freedom, the groups had to choose from a black beetle, an ostrich and a elephant.
Some of the work was pretty damn impressive, though others certainly crashed and burned. One osterich looked liked "Fantasia gone bad", and one of the elephants looked more like a mutant instead of a "hybrid".
Now while the show borrows the same formula as other reality competitions, I like that the judges don't just observe the work from a far, they also get up close to inspect the work. it was also refreshing to see none of them be the obvious "nasty judge" or the "You're so special, good job" judge. If they like the work, they'll let the artists know...if not, all three will tear them apart.
So overall I do like this show so far, and what's being shown in the preview does look good. (The next episode features nude bodypainting)
In other news, SyFy also shows it's fucking desperate. An upcoming show is "Marcels Quantam Kitchen" (Yes, the same Marcel from Top Chef), nuff' said.

TRON Legacy and a few words of common sense.
General | Posted 15 years agoWhile it's a little late, I did end up seeing the midnight screening of Tron Legacy.
Personally I really enjoyed the film, it was a feast for the eyes and especially the ears. Story-wise, it was solid. I thought the actors played their roles well and for me the film didn't really drag.
I will most certainly have to mention that there are points where Jeff Bridges was totally channeling "The Dude" from "The Big Lebowski", so in a way that was bonus points for me.
As for Daft Punk providing the soundtrack, I thought they did a kick-ass job with it. It fits well, it's memorable and holy heck did it give the speakers in my theater a work out.
If there's a IMAX theater near you or a Regal Theater with the new RPX (Regal Premimum Xperience, pretty much bigger screen, higher quality film and higher quality surround sound)...see the film in one of those. I've heard reports that the audio is absolutly freakin' awesome in those kind of theaters. This is a soundtrack that deserves to be played loud and bassy to rattle your body.
Oh yes, Daft Punk's cameo in the film is downright brilliant and funny.
Also, when Sam enters Flynn's arcade...the film hits you with a great one-two punch of two great songs from the 80's. The theater I was in went bonkers when we heard both songs.
So overall, the film is really fun and worth seeing. Not to mention the soundtrack is worth getting.
---
In other news, amongst all the current drama that is happening. I just want to say this, just because you've read a note or two that was leaked...doesn't make you a self-proclaimed expert on the subject at hand and you know everything that happened.

Movie related blabber
General | Posted 15 years agoIt's 2:43 AM, and I've got a couple move stuff to blabber one.
- Well I finally saw Disney's Princess and the Frog, personally I'm kinda in the middle about this one. While I love Louis and the voodoo/shadow-man/shadow creatures/"Friends on the Other Side" stuff, the rest of the film didn't really click for me. While it's not an instant comeback to 2D animation, it's a start.
- Speaking of Disney animation, I have a feeling Tangled is going to get royally F*cked over. The marketing is showing it in a light of "Shrek", however I'm hearing from people who actually worked on the film say that the movie is NOTHING like how it's being presented in the trailers. After seeing some leaked footage, I have to agree with it. Though the marketing has already done plenty of damage, and with the film comming out a week after Deathly Hollows Part 1....it's going to get screwed.
- As for Harry Potter, I have to say I might see the midnight screening of this one. While I don't think the midnight screening with be as freakin' awesome as the Dark Night's MS was, it still could be pretty sweet.
- In horror related news, I'm not excited for the prequel of "The Thing". The Thing is one of my favorite horror films, and any remake/prequel/sequel is just pointless. Reading up on the "prequel", to me it's not a prequel....it's a remake dressed up as the prequel.
The gist of the storyline is this, Scientists find alien ship and alien, alien get's loose, alien mimics humans and takes them out one by one, scientists fight back with flamethrowers. Gee, where have I seen this before?
Another downside to the "prequel" is there wasn't really a soild answer on how much practical and cgi effects they'll be using. Some say there will be a lot of practical effects with little cgi, while others say there will be big cgi creatures.
With John Carpenters film being a practical special effects extravaganza, any remake/prequel that'll use more cgi then practical would be an insult.
- Finally, on a better note. The more I see of TRON LEGACY, the more giddy I become. Without a doubt, I'm seeing the midnight screening of this. Though I also have a lot of urges to quote "The Dude". Tee hee!

Halloween 2010
General | Posted 15 years agoTonight I decided to head on over to my grandparent's place for Halloween, I suited up as Tobias and my grandma and grandpa got a kick out it.
I would pretty much wave and interact to the trick or treaters that came by, a lot of the kids thought the suit was awesome. I also had a funny interaction with some kid that was dressed as a gingerbread man, apparently he didn't like the thought of me eating him. Hey kid, a wolf's gotta eat yanno'.
Some family members also dropped by with their kids, all of them liked it...except for the littlest one who I learned tonight that he's afraid of "mascots". He would pretty much cower in his parents arms, thought at one point there was an amusing moment where he would just stare and try to look at me as long as he can. But when I tried getting him to approach me he didn't budge.
Also tonight I decided to trick or treat to a couple neighbors I know, they all got a kick out it and were glad to see me. The best reaction was a guy I know by the name of Brad, before I even saw him I heard him go "Oh wow, there's a BIG wolf at my door!" He had his wife come over and for some reason she wanted to pet my tail, I let her and much fun was had by all.
Happy Halloween everyone!

Hmm, I didn't know Yahtzee read that Bible!
General | Posted 15 years agoPlain and simple, Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation recently put up a review of Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid.....red-Dimensions
At the 30 second mark, he shows a picture of a Bible...but not the usual one. We're talking a Bible full of big honkin' Dick's. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out what Bible he showed, I'm finding it amusing he actually posted it. XD

Got PCD from AC 2010?
General | Posted 15 years agoIf the answer is yes, then go to the link below, BBF *aka*
coyote_snack finished up his AC video.
http://video.bigbluefox-media.com/cont-ac2010.html
He put a lot of hard work into it, and caught plenty of antics.
As for me, well I'm certainly in it a lot more then last years video. You can mainly spot me out of suit, especially in Part 1 during Thurday night's dance segment. (I'm the one with the crazy blue flowlights, very hard to miss.)
For those of you that want to see me in suit in the videos, there are two spots you can spot me. Both are in part 2.
The first spotting is in the fursuit parade segment, right when everyone is leaving hall C. Shouldn't be too hard to spot me since I walk right in front of the camera and wave to it.
For the second spotting in suit, I'll actually give you the time I appear in the Dead Dog Dance segment.
1:30:34
Now in the segment I am doing something nobody else is doing in the entire video, can anyone guess what that is?

General | Posted 15 years agoWho did this poster? I know one of us had to!

Even though I firmly believe this Yogi Bear film will royally suck (with the sole exception of Justin Timberlake actually getting Boo-Boo's voice down.)...I gotta admit this poster is hilarious.

What have I learned from drama today?
General | Posted 15 years agoToday I learned from a foolish fellow that's it's a very bad idea to scan the latest issue of Heat, and post the scans on a image board site where it's not allowed. Also, it's a bad idea to threaten the admins of said image board site because they took the scans down...leading to a throwdown of the banhammer!
As you may have noticed, I didn't say the name of the foolish individual. However I will give some incredibly easy hints since this isn't his first foray in drama.
The guy has mooched money off of good people, and while he's admitted he's wrongfully mooched money off of people and will pay everyone back....to my knowlege he's only paid back two people, and only one of them was out of good will. (The other was able to find him and tell him to pay up.)
Instead of paying people back hundreds of dollars, he uses hundreds of dollars for commissions and going to cons.
He throws immature hissyfit's when people see through him, which would explain why he threatened the admins of the image board site.
He also claims he has a giant papertrail of evidence against all of his haters, though one phrase comes to mind. "Put up, or Shut Up." Especially since recently someone claimed they had evidence that a certain admin was a pedo, but refused to show it to those that asked for it. Why? They had no evidence, just fabricated logs. Which led to the person's (and conspiritor) ban from the site.
So yes, this infamous fool has done yet another thing that digs his grave even deeper. I have no clue why he would post scans of Heat, but none the less he's banned from another site and dug his grave even deeper.

AC Trip Report
General | Posted 15 years agoNow that I've had a while to rest, here's my trip report from AC.
This was my second AC, and I have to say it was a 1-UP from last year.
Naturally the con got bigger, and while some people may not like the sheer size of it all...I really didn't mind it. Since I really don't attend many Cons, it's nice going to one where I'm going to run into plenty of friends and make plenty of new ones.
When it comes to programming I was able to hit what I wanted to see, though not too much since once I got my suit I was compleatly enamored with suiting around.
Speaking of suiting, as you all know I finally got my suit from Mixedcandy. Even though I know I'll need to get contacts due to me being nearsighted, I had a freakin' blast suiting around and dancing my butt off at the Dead Dog dance.
Foodwise, I never had a bad meal. Fernando's constantly delivered with their BBQ chicken sub and mini donuts I'd always love to have. Cory's delievered with the cheesesteak and Penn City Grille certainly gave a good breakfast.
I also tried some new places, one of them being Big Mama's. I could easily tell this Con was a big learning experience for them, when I had breakfast there they were swamped...and when I had dinner they ran out of food by 8PM. (I'm glad I got there early since the fried chicken was pretty damn good.) Even with the choas, I'm giving them the benifit of doubt since this was their first year being really close to the Con. I did talk with a couple people and they did say this was a learning experience and that they'll be prepared for next year.
The other place I tried was Augest Henry's, and I was very pleased with them. Any place that can do sweet potato fries right is a winner in my book, and the burger I had was pretty tasty as well.
Oh yes, I can't forget the dances. Nuckin' Futs, I tell you...NUCKIN' FUTS. Seriously, kick-ass all the way.
As for the friends I met, there's a bunch of names to list. While I probably can't list all of them, I'll try my best.
red13nanaki - Dude, it was great hanging out with you,
synwolf and anyone else that was around us at the time.
vitani - Girl, you are pocket-sized awesome.
NitroShep
Spark - You two are a bundle of cute, it was nice hanging out with you at the airport, going through the most awkward landing of a plane and running into each other at the con.
twitchdawoof - It was nice chilling with you at Fernando's, you're certainly a suiter that would seem very odd if you didn't talk. (Same goes for Cooptertom)
Coopertom - You are predictably unpredictable, for the sake of plastic cups keep doing what you do.
Triggerfox - Thanks for delivering the suit, and I'll say it once again. Kona is a Adorable Fatty.
Skroy - Thanks for proving that your squeaking never got old, you certainly kicked my AC off with a squeak...lots of them!
foxglove - It was nice seeing you around again, hopefully next time I'll be able to venture farther into the dancefloor in suit for Tek Fox's set.
Yippee - Thanks for the dance with Twilight, and hopefully someone will post any pics or vids of us dancing.
Mattpanther
farouthere
raptorred and anyone else I forgot to mention, it was great meeting you all and I hope to see you around again soon.
Oh yes, as for future conventions.
At the moment I know I'm planning to attend AC 2011, and while I live up in the Northwest I don't know if I'll be able to attend Rainfurrest...especially since I've been having an eye on Further Confusion. That and I know someone who has roomspace avalible for me at FC, so if I have enough money I'll be attending FC for the first time.
I'll be sure to keep you updated on con plans, and I'll also be posting some more pics from AC this year pretty soon.
Finally, if you have any pics/videos of me at the Con, Dead Dog etc. let me know.
Take care everyone!

Hello all, and got pics?
General | Posted 15 years agoHey there,
Plain and simple, the names Tobias and I debuted last week at AC. I'm a wolf with skulls on both my shoulders, and I was certainly out and about on Friday, Saturday and especially Sunday.
If you have any pics or videos of me, let me know since that would be very much appreciated.
On here, expect to see plenty of pics from AC, as well as the sketch commissions I got.
