Posted 10 years agoIt's amazing how much a single text message can change your life o_o. So adding to the mountain of 'who the hell did I piss off?!" my transmission started to slip. Wound up basically sitting in my chair last night in tears trying to figure out what the hell I was going to do if my car dies..And low and behold got a text that i'm unofficially booked for a 9 day stint on a movie starting soon. <3
I try not to ever take these things as 'solid' until I'm actually on set filling out the paperwork [annoying as hell how often a production company changes their minds -.-] but I've decided to ignore that rule because right about now..I need it.

Posted 10 years agoSo my hearing happened on Friday at the exact time it was supposed to. I'm not sure if I won or not but I'm hopeful. The first thing out of my mouth was 'Did you receive my packet?!" Terrified that once more then unemployment agency would bone me. Come to find out, yes, he did in fact receive it. Some poor soul had to scan every single sheet of paper I sent. His reply "....You..sent me over fifty documents..." "Yes. Yes I did. I've been accused of fraud and I don't take that lightly."
What followed was a series of allegations made against me that I had evidence on all points to completely refute and at the end of the conversation he asked if I had anything else I wanted to add into evidence and I started going to every other piece of evidence he hadn't touched until I was silenced and told 'Look, I spoke with you. I spoke with your mother. Your alibi is good. I have no reason to disbelieve you. I don't think you'll need any thing else."
So I let my case rest and now, I'm just waiting for a piece of mail that says I'll receive benefits again and I can pay my credit card bills that have been piling up [since I'm using them to pay my OTHER bills ;.;] and relieve some stress for a change..Or a piece of mail that says that I'm not getting it and proceed to ball up and sob. Hoy. You know those furs that always have something happening to them? Seems like it's my turn -.-.

Of extractions and zip files
Posted 10 years agoWere I a popufur artist this is probably the time I'd start to heavily consider asking for donations. So this week has been absolute hell. As I'm gearing up for my appeal hearing tomorrow at 8 in the morning, I collected every shred of evidence that I could to prove my innocence. It wound up being a 10 MB file full of scans that were imported into Photoshop, shrank a bit and then saved as jpg's on 'low' quality. [4 for those playing the home game]. I was doing everything in my power to ensure that they would be able to receive my e-mail when I sent it. So while awaiting the final piece of the puzzle Tuesday night, as I was gearing up for bed, I initiated my normal routine. Brush, floss, mouthwash, etc. Well..I didn't make it to the mouthwash part. For the squeamish you may want to skip down to the next part. Essentially, the tooth I've had that's been giving me a problem for so long, as I was flossing, got snagged on said floss. As I tried to pull the floss, gently, out, it snapped in half and half of it came with it ;.;. So thank whoever you believe in that I have dental insurance, and a 500$ extraction bill turned into a 73$ bill. But for added fun I'm now down a tooth for the first time since childhood. AND I brush twice daily. Floss. And use mouthwash. Wtf. -.-
But if that had been all I could have handled it, since yesterday morning, before going to the dentist, first thing, I e-mailed off my packet of evidence. I'd called to ensure that I COULD in fact do that, and was assured yes, they accept that stuff via e-mail. So today, mouth still bloody, I let myself sleep in since I was healing. Around noon, get up, call, figuring 'just to make DAMN sure.." Nope. They hadn't received my evidence. And come to find out if someone e-mails them something with an attachment there was a good chance that they would never receive it....So what evidence I was supposed to send I still don't know. And it's now 12:30 and I'm informed that I CAN bring it in personally [meaning I have to print off everything..] but they close at 4:30 and my appeals officer wasn't in house so it was a gamble as to whether or not he'd receive it. So crap. Spent an hour printing and arranging everything to make sense, drove my happy ass 45 minutes down to the south side of Atlanta, pay 2$ per 15 mins of parking, run 3 blocks to their building to turn it all in in person. I was assured the officer would receive it. Here's hoping that wasn't a lie. -.-. At this point, I've pretty much maxed out my credit cards, and husband and I are stretched thin.. I need SOMETHING to give here..Work.. the unemployment to go through..Something.

Posted 10 years agoMostly a journal for my own sanity. I have a little less than 2 weeks to figure out how to prove I didn't work a day they say I did, when 'all' I have is a facebook post and a final call sheet stating that the prior week is our last one.. But how do you make a government agecy understand getting paid later for work performed earlier? >.< 8 hours as a 'gimme' for the previous week, a tleast an hour at the beginning and end of each day as a 'thank you' by my boss for hard work.. put through as a time card.that I never signed. Oi. Oh well. I'll figure something out. Wish me luck >.>

Deep breath
Posted 10 years agoSo going on 2 months now without work.. Maybe a little longer. The cabin fever has set in and I'm starting to get a little stir-crazy. Unemployment office 'discovered' that I 'fraudulently' applied for benefits for one week when I got a paycheck which wasn't the case and to make it even more fun, I only applied when I was told to. So I get to fight that. If I can get in an appeal this week and have them release my funds? I'll be okay. If I can't? .... Shit. -.- Will. Not. Panic.
Unemployment woes~
Posted 10 years agoSo part of the nature of what I do is becoming unemployed and learning how to manage your money well enough to survive during it. I'm still working on that part >.> Lucky for me my husband makes enough money to support us when we're on leaner times but unemployment definitely helps. Filed for it a few weeks ago just to aide us along and sure enough I haven't received it yet. Let me back up.
Back in February I was on unemployment and they suddenly just stopped sending me my unemployment checks. I found out they were under the assumption I had been working for a company called 'Cast and Crew' [seriously.] without reporting income through them. It took me 3 fucking WEEKS to explain to them that Cast and Crew is a PAYROLL company that was paying the checks for the TV show I was working on BEFORE I filed for unemployment. but finally, in March, they released 4 weeks worth of checks just as I found a new show.
Fast forward to now. I put the name of all the payroll companies down for the shows I've worked on since just to avoid that happening. But today I get told 'There was a hold put on your file in March, something about over payment and you working for some company called "Cast and Crew" without reporting it?
Oh joyous day, they released my paychecks but didn't close out that file so suddenly it looks like I've over-drawn 4 weeks worth of unemployment. New fight begins tomorrow. *le sigh* On the upside I DID get to perform card tricks for the police officer in the unemployment office and wound up inadvertantly performing to a full room of people who were greatly amused.
It's the little things.

Posted 10 years agoLike really o_o the REAL one, what we got as 'Lost Levels'? I was never exposed to it as a kid. I knew OF it but I never owned Mario All Stars so now going back and just tearing through Ultimate NES Remix on the 3DS... "Mario 2?" I chortled. "This will be a snap." 2 hours later I have almost thrown my husband's 3ds more times than I want to count o_o.. Hats off to anyone who actually beat that game. Jesus. Christ.

I can't honestly say I've seen any of the ads that everyone's talking about and as a low-level user with AdBlock who just gets commissions and doesn't really worry too much about the moderating staff- none of the change overs have impacted -me- that greatly. That being said.. It's not hard to see there's a shift in the air and with so many great and talented people making the move over to Weasyl... Well..

Posted 10 years agoI had to go to one today >.> Aside from all manner of torture I just.. don't get it. Brush 2x a day realllly well. Floss at least 1x a day. Still apparently need root canal. Fun -.-.

Oh look, a monster, blood, gore, pain, etc. The one thing that I can't stand, however? Dreaming about Freddy Krueger.... Posted 10 years agoSometimes being a boom operator is a blast! Sometimes it sucks. I'm just going to post my skype log to a friend of mine detailing the... ludicrousness.. if that's really a word.. Of today's events on an independent film set that I showed up to out of kindness to help out >.>

Tobi: So my call was 6:30 am. At 3:30 AM THIS FUCKING MORNING...They sent out an e-mail. "Call time is now 6 AM" I was asleep. I didn't get that. So I wake up to text after text after text at 4:50 going "You live an hour away get here now!'
Tobi: THEN I arrive, a little after 6... meet my mixer, cool guy.. we're ready to go.. they haven't finished the script.. even though they changed the stupid call time
Tobi: Then after that? "Breakfast will be at 7" THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE WE HERE AT 6?!?!?!?!
Tobi: So. Seven comes. "First shot will be at 7:30." Lies
Tobi: First shot wasn't until 10:30 AM...
Tobi: At which point my utility and I, the only two union members on this show announce "We're leaving at 3:30. This is ridiculous." Because from 10:30 - 12:30 they were shooting scenes using the on-camera mic..
Tobi: You have a FULL SOUND TEAM and you're using a handicam mic...
Tobi: Lunch was supposed to be at 1. They held it off til 1;30. We AGAIN inform them 'We're leaving at 3:30..we may want to go do the dialogue."
"Okay!"
"It's..2...we're back in?"
"No. We're back in at 3."
Tobi: They took a 90 minute lunch...

Tobi: at 3:30 they FINALLY call action. Out of the kindness of our heart we tried to give them one good take.
Tobi: 'Boom you're in the shot!" Which means they had a viewing angle damn near 15 ft wide..pointless.. but I explain "I can't get in then." "Oh here!" Hand me a lopsided tree stump. I kick it over. "Not happening." "Well.. fine stand on that rock." Puts foot on, rock falls over No. I'm NOT getting hurt for this.

Posted 10 years agoOh woah is me who thought 'I want to spend time with my husband so we're going to stay up 'til 4 am watching movies!'. So Shrek 2 was funnier than I remember and still freakin' awesome but that's not the point. At around 7:30/8AM this morning my doorbell goes off. And off. And off.. AND OFF. I learned that no amount of snooze button hitting will quell the angry button mash of the apparent fighting game player at my front door so I drag my barely dressed butt out of bed, slog down the hallway, down the stairs to open the door to an elderly man carrying a chihuahua. Not the most... common of sights at my front door. I am then told I need to step outside. Again, half awake, somewhere along the way I must have mumbled some barely coherent phrase akin to 'what's this all about?' before I'm informed I'm essentially watering the street I live on. A water pipe burst in my front yard at some point during the night. My water meter was going crazy and thank the gods I have a grandmother who's willing to help me out since the almost 400$ bill was definitely NOT something I was accounting for but.. Yeah. So at the moment my front yard is a U/G dual land..considering the price I had to pay I'd almost call it a shock -.-.

A note on being trans~
Posted 10 years agoUnlike most other things in my life I'm taking this in tiny steps, trying to get my feet wet as it were one small inch at a time. As such, I'm open to only a select few people. My rl identity and job more or less demands I be discreet so.. Heh. Yay. But that aside~ I've taken my next little baby steps, that being asking my Mate his opinion on HRT, changing all pronouns concerning me to the female variety and coming out to my mother fully and discussing the path I'm debating taking. My mate's response was all I could hope for. Given that I'm not the most girly individual in person he made sure I was aware that it would be a hard choice for me to take. I'm overly tall y'see, and it would be much easier for someone with, say, his build. But after that he made sure to tell me he fell in love with me for me [9 years ago xD] and no matter what I chose to do he'd be beside me every step of the way. My mother's reply... was the exact same thing she said when I was 9 and told her I wanted to be in gymnastics. "....You're too tall for that." Heh. xD She'll come around I'm sure but for now I'll take this as a win for not getting out and out disowned. >.>
As an aside, it's weird being almost 30 and still talking like I'm a teenager just finding herself.

A great two days~
Posted 10 years agoSo some 2 years ago I created a collie character for use in a few stories and of course I managed to stumble upon a very talented artist not long after that by the name of Sirod. Adore her style and her expressions and with a few friends randomly messaging me I've managed to catch two of her streams and gotten lucky enough to get slots in both! Hence the addition of two new pieces of art xD Nice to get lucky for a change, as well as have the money to spend on art!
In other news, booked on two new movies, but both are one day gigs >.< So here's hoping the luck thing continues and I can manage to turn these into something quasi long term!
