Moving
Posted 7 years agoThis weekend I will be touring some houses in the area I'm moving to! I'm excited and nervous all at once. We have been approved for a loan, and all of it is becoming so real!
Due to this, I will not be active at all this weekend, and like I had planned since the beginning, not the next either. I work on an every other week schedule. Please be patient with me. I hope to get some of the digitalized commission work I've done up soon on my professional account. I'll be posting the w.i.p. shots here, but I will only post the finished result on my 'official account'.
I said all that to say this; I will be gone this weekend into the following week. I also will be moving sooner rather than later and so I will be taking time off then. Not that anyone really cares, but I will post this anyway.

Being a Furry | Struggles and misconceptions
Posted 7 years agoBeing a furry.
What a wonderful thing. The furry community is so full of acceptance and just an overall enthusiasm. And it's such a diverse community (and a large one) because the 'requirements' are so simple. You just have to be interested in anthropomorphic animals. However, just being a furry seems to stir up a lot of controversy. Many people judge (and often fallibly) because they have preconceived ideas that ALL furries are interested in having sex with animals or have weird fetishes. While some furries DO partake in these types of activities, it has become an unfair stereotype, and thus many furries are looked down upon and hated for just being themselves.
We've already defined the problem. People make uneducated assumptions about the furry community and misjudge furries frequently. But how and why does this happen so often? Most people only really hear about the NSFW side of the furry fandom, and most people don't like it, especially if they aren't part of the furry community. Because they aren't furries, and because all the experience they have with the fandom has been negative, they will not do any research. This causes a big problem (mentioned earlier).
So we understand how and why this happens. Now, what can (and does) this cause, and how does it affect us? By us, I mean the entire furry community. When people misjudge a furry (often based off of a lack of knowledge or care) it causes turmoil. Many furries find themselves hinding what/who they are just because they don't want to be picked on or bullied for things they don't even care for. For example, some people don't even agree with fursuiting. I am honestly unsure why (some) people find it to be wrong, but they do. So even if someone is aware that the furry community isn't completely represented by its NSFW side, and they just don't like fursuiters, it still causes problems! Because the furry fandom includes people like me who just enjoy drawing anthropomorphic animals. And while I find nothing wrong with it, fursuiting just isn't my thing. And now I am being judged and bashed for something I don't even participate in.
None of this would be such a problem if it weren't for the fact that many people hear furry, and just lose their shit. They don't even pretend to care to hear your explanation. And even when you reject their claims and labels that just aren't true, they don't listen.
So how can we fix it? Honestly, we will not be able to completely resolve this issue. But by helping to better explain furries and by striving to educate others, we can reduce the problem to a more manageable number.
I know I was not able to cover EVERYTHING, but I tried to skim over the basics. Feel free to add anything you think needs discussed in the comments. I was just trying to compose something short to give general knowledge on the topic of furry misconceptions and struggles we face on a daily basis.
Please note also that it is never my intention to offend anyone.I was not trying to bash the NSFW furries (or anyone else). Please take no offence, as none was intended.

Tristan!!
Posted 7 years agoDisclaimer: Brief cussing and (very) slight violence
I'm pretty excited right now. Tired, but fucking excited! I'm currently working on a bunch of different pieces of my new babe Tristan. He's my new fursona. He's kind of like an updated version of Tod (whom I haven't posted yet bcuz I'm a procrastinating piece of shit). He has a similar pattern and color scheme, but he's better and extra emo. Yup...
He's got rottweiler/doberman patterning, but he's a blueish-black color, with cream/beige secondary coloring. He has a greyish charcoal/ash color symbol on his back that looks like a slanted T, a symbol meaning 'they will beat you'. Upon his brow, which is always covered with his emo haircut, is a misshapen and (also) slanted oval, meaning 'nothing here'. Contrary to what this may imply, he is actually rather intelligent. Most people don't know this though because he is a loner, and a tough nut to crack. His hair is naturally black, but he has dyed it a pastel-ish blue, so now only streaks of black remain near the center where it all stems from. He has a piercing in his ear that pictures the trans flag (that's right he's a motherfuckin' trans-boy like me) and he like to wear his galaxy hoodie when it's chilly outside. His left is a light (siberian) blue and his right eye is bright green. His paw pads match his hair and his tongue is purple.. His nose is pink and black speckled/splotched.
Well, you know the looks so now you should know the backstory. I would say you probably don't care but if you didn't you wouldn't still be reading, so... anyways. Tristan was given a very fitting name at birth, seeing as how his name means Outcry in Celtic, where his mother's breed (the rough collie) originates from. His father is a galician hound and galician barn dog(celtic shepherd) mix. This being said, he is also a little below average height, but tough for his size (and just in general). Both his parents were wild, his mother having been abandoned and his father being feral, so he was raised on the streets of germany. When he was still a young pup (about 6 months old) his mother died. She had been captured by animal control and, it being her second time at the pound, she was euthanized. Luckily, Tristan was weaned by then. Un-luckily, is that a word? Unfortunately, his father could not care for Tristan as he should have, and after getting into many street fights as a young pup, his father became stressed. One day, Tristan awoke to a fight between his father and three other stocky dogs. His father was able to drive them off, but sustained many grave wounds. Tristan watched and assisted his father in gnawing off his own forearm, amputating it to prevent infection from spreading. He also laid by his father during the days and licked the cuts and scrapes clean. From a young age Tristan ended up taking care of his father. Fighting for him, nursing him, feeding him. With the support from his son, Tristan's father (Baile:essentially meaning home) was able to live on his own again. By this point, Tristan was ready to follow his own path. Baile ended up living on a farm 'with' an old man who occasionally left some scraps out for him during winter. Tristan is now a street dog in Germany where he has lived up to and earned his name; Outcry.

Making a fursuit
Posted 7 years agoHey! My name is August but I'm Tristan online (that's my fursona). I'm new to FA so forgive me for being a bit rusty with all of this stuff.
My friend (TJ/Echo) and I are going to be taking a trip into the world of making fursuits. It's a lofty endeavour, but I think we can make it. We want to eventually sell them, but it'll take a long while for that to happen, and we know that. Right now we are going to each try our first partial fursuit. Is that the correct terminology? Anyways, we are going to do that. I know it probably won't turn out how I'm expecting, but we need to start somewhere. Honestly, it's kind of an experiment to see if it's worth it and if it's something we want to pursue. Honestly, I'm the crafty artistic one out of the group and I don't really do fursuiting. That being said, I think I'm going to just do an OC I made for my friend. I am doing it because it sounds fun to make them and it has the potential to make some decent money if we end up selling eventually.
I will probably be posting pictures and updates of the W.I.P. fursuits (both my friend's and mine). If you have an questions or comments let me know, I guess? And if you like the final product, be sure to contact me for a cheap custom.
It'll probably be a while before I start selling though.
Anyways, just thought I would write this down. I don't really know what I'm doing...
