Helping out as a seccie being responsible for the ArtShow, so you will see me there quiet often. During the evening times I'll grab myself some people to chat with and follow them wherever they go. Most likely I will be at the 'Bar One' next to the Maritim more than once, because they have accaptable prices for cocktails compared to the shitty Maritim.

Usually I *try* to attend a few, but often I simply have no time - I prefer socializing over panels.

The standard way of greeting among Furries is to share a hug. If I actively avoid a hug then I am either totally stressed (am I running? Nothing personal then!), or you did something that seriously annoyed me o.o

Trying my best! I am very open towards people, honest and detest violence.
I also have a big mouth and am not afraid to tell anyone, if something annoys me. But I actually consider this habbit of 'being nice', since an honest critic is way better than not giving anyone the chance to explain/change him/herself.

just thought why not organize a little rodent meet-and-greet on EF 19? Ofcourse, open for anyone, but I thought it would be also fun to meet the other rats and mice etc. out there that I often fail to meet on EF! :P

There is always little time for *anything* on EF, but I'd love if you could come by and say hello :3 Or spread the word to other rodents that you know of!


We just need a location and a time. The early-arrival day is always mostly free but I guess not everyone will be there.
So I suggest wednesday 18:30 (6:30pm). This is after the opening ceremony, when the BBQ is on. The Artists Lounge will open later that evening.

Since I do not have a room in the main hotel, sadly I cannot offer it. Open for suggestions for a location!

seriously, what the fuck is wrong with Magedeburg? To all non-native visitors from aboard who stayed in Magdeburg with this EF, this is _not_ now the rest of germany is x.x

They utterly completely fucked up a year ago and hardly did any better this year. Extremly impatiend waiters, stupid comments, insulting your own visitors... at the <insert any nationality here>-ish restaurant, at the pizza place, at the ice place, at the parking place, at the hotel… damn! I have no bloody idea what is wrong with them. The most depressing and sad part about it is, that the worst stories I heard are from my foreign-country friends - who, becuase of the language barrier - are usually a bit perplex and unable to react appropiately.

Anyhow... the Eurofurence! (Or shall I say, Interfurence*? xD)

Lots of media this year, and it will not get any better the next. But Reuthers had good material and the larger german TV stations also produced acceptable clips. Yes, they depict us all as fursuiters only who do everything everyday in their fursuit, like shopping or going to work. Yes, it is utter nonsese. And yes, I would like the fursuiters to show a bit more responsability towards media, not pretending that they are the major part of the fandom.
I hear people complaining about the clips we had here and they would not mind being iterviewed, telling the media the *right* things. You know what the problem with media is? They pick out what they belive gives them most viewer, pluck sentences out of contex and put your face on it!
Maybe I am getting a bit old, but it seems many do not know / have forgotten about VF and MTV. It was many years ago a large article and a whole show about furries - filled to the brim with lies and the most pervert people destroying basically any reputation the furries had, saying it was a pure animal-costume-sex-fetish, any anyone saying differently is just lying (semi-original citation from that show).
As much as we all probally beg to differ, but for media that does only care about viewers and lies (80% of all larger media), we should be utterly interesting! We basically are totally uninteresting! The deep spiritual or emotional connection to furries and animals or just the magnitude of creativity - it is nothing 'normal' people immediatly grasp. In my humble opinion we should stay under the radar for as long as possible.


People I met on Eurofurnce
Gee, this year was different! I had been more open towards people. And I did not have propper sleep before the con, and even less during EF (which is an indicator that I did something right xD)! But utterly sleep-depreved I was in a funny mood the last days, an honest sorry to everyone who I might have annoyed with it.

There were so many people I met that I am just so happy about, that I am not going to list them here. Basically if you have met and talked to me on EF (with a very few exceptions), imagine yourself being adressed by this:
Thank you very much! I loved talking and meeting you, and this year I even managed to write down a few names. Will try to contact each and everyone, but pelase, if you read this, feel free to write me! I was not always in the 'state' to note down names :-P

Which is by the way an excellent strategy to get to know people - first chatting with them, then looking at the badge and name, realizing that one has met before online or the other one draws or whatever could influence just a nice chat!

Great. ICQ blocks non-ICQ clients since yesterday, once again.

Let me sum it up:
- They change the protocol to break alternative clients from time to time.
- The original client, the last time I had to install it for someone, infested the autorun and even put a toolbar into the browser. Lots of ads, high resource usage etc. Secure?
- They were owned by AOL before, those who spread tons of Ad-CDs and oder type of ads causing lots of waste.
- They are now owned by a Russian company, under Russian laws (not US anymore, tho that was not that much better), working togeter with the Russian secret service and the best of it, a few dubius chinese companies.
-Their terms of use give all interlectual propperty of transmitted text to them. Eventho this would be a bit difficult to apply in US-law and especially in other countries, it still basically means any source-code, songtext, poem etc. sent over ICQ would belong to AOL / now Digital Sky Technologies.

Congratulations, you already own a XMPP (Jabber) compatible account!
Jabber ist an open protocol that - if used correctly which not all of the mentioned above server provider do =( - has many atvantags over other protocols. Including filetransfers, voicechat, transports (use icq/yahoo/msn/etc accounts through a single jabber account and thus single client!) and full SSL encryption. Many popular multi-protocol clients support jabber (Miranda, Trillian, Gaim, Adium). (more clients: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_.....n_XMPP-Clients)
Try logging in to one of the above mentioned services with you existing account and add me: rnd[at]jabber.ccc.de =3 I am also happy to give nerdy-rat-help if needed.

If you client supports setting the login-server, change it to 'login.icq.com'. That one accepts the passwords and works with alternative clients again.

I never was a rat of many words. But that old journal started to look redicules on my page xD.

There are alot of things I should have done, but ultil now did not... distracted by a thousand things. And the worst thing, paying way to little attation to those I really care for. So many people I still would like to write. Hopefully I can make it up someday.

Damn, that was a blasting experience. Just everything went so very smoothly... the town Suhl was awsome, the weather was okay most of the time, the events were great, the hotel was fantastic, the hotel staff was extremy dedicated and wonderful...

I had a wonderful time and am almost sad that I could not share as much time as I would have loved to with everyone. There were even a bunch of new people I met! Wheeee.

Let me start this journal with a quote from my friend and roommate Tellos: Oh fuck yeah!

Very first furry convention I have ever been to, very first time I was with more than 4 furries in a single room. And DAMN, it was nice. I really enjoyed this week.

It all started by catching up the people with my car, one of them being Tellos from the airport. After knowing him for several years online it was one of the most wonderful moments in a long time to finally see him in real life. I was so shy I did not dare to hug him too long, eventho I planned to squeeze him for hours!
The other two critters were Nerkitt and Skystalker who joined the ride. My ever working thrustworthy navigation system works always... but did not on the EF trip :P We had to go by map... but that was not a problem at all. We somehow managed to find the righr direction... but were slowly running out of fuel. So just follow the motorway to the next gasolinesation... sounds easy? Well, after nearly an hour of driving and no gasoline station in sight, we decided we had to leave the motorway and search for a gas-station. After a scaringly long time driving with the warninglight on we finally found one :P

The hotel was also more or less easy to find. Eventho exhausted, seeing the hotel for real and already fursuiter standing infront of it was awsome =3

For everyone who was not there (shame on you), just look through the journals and you will mostly hear that the EF13 was wonderful, and I fully agree. I met so many people... including Kage and 2 the Ranting Gryphon. Their comedy-show was making me laugh so hard that my muscles hurt! The SIGs, the concerts, the PawPuppetshow, the Fursuiters and the people were just great!
Right on the first official day Tellos and I suddenly spotted Unika the fursuiter. Eventho not having any contact to him, we (and especially Tellos) really liked him since he is a talented actor, very cute and has a very nice suit. I thought I could surprise Tellos by quickly running over to Unika and asking him if he could randomy pounce Tellos for me. Somehow - probally my poor engligsh - Unika did not really get me and was a bit confused. And I got the impression I scared him away a little =( If you read this, I am sorry! We still admire your character... and after all later Tellos got his hug anyways ^,^

I got several originals from Tellos as a present which was really one of the nicest presents I ever got. Appart from these I also got a doodle from Gideon - seriously nice person =3 - and got prints from UltraViolett cheaply. One of my favorite artists... and they are signed by her! WOOT ^_^ And Vlen, her friend, is also a very nice person I hope I might meet again to chat some at the next con :P

Now there were so many people I cherrish alot, artists, performancer/fursuiter or just ones I know from IRC ... from Blotch over Vincent to Kage or Yappy Fox... the guests of honor... seriously, I wish I had more time. I met people I have been talking to on IRC for a long time but did not know they were coming... just randomly bounced into them. And I randomly bounced into people who I did not knew, and still loved to chat with them and make new friends.

There were only a very few little downsides... the hoteldinners were a bit costy, one key per room only (which was perfectly fine for Tellos and me, but I understand if other people had problems with that) and there was so much going on that you hardly knew where to go :P

There are still alot of people I have spoken too but did not contact yet. A reason might be the evil booze in my head... I was not drunken all the time but the few times I was did a good job on messing up my memory xD So feel free to drop me a note here ^,^

I did not take any pictures, but still might have a few things to upload sooner or later. But this will take alot of time... do not expect to see alot from me in the neat future.
