Why didn't I realize it sooner? I have an idea.
General | Posted 3 years agoI have been absent on here for a while, a lot in life has been happening and I think things are starting to fall into place. I have felt bad that my art has fallen to the sidelines as I have been focusing on my career, but I came to the realization that I can use my job to expand my art portfolio because it too is a creative endeavor. As a cook I can create tasty dishes and make them look fantastic and it's something I take pride in and spent a lot of time becoming good; it just takes a lot of time in my life because I'm a sous chef where I'm working and I have a lot of things I have to do there. So I felt like I was being distanced from this community that has been a big part of my life for so long and that I didn't have time to be involved in the way I want to be, but a couple years ago I had an idea for a YouTube cooking channel but doing it in a dragon fursuit made with the intent of wearing in a kitchen and getting dirty, and it gave me hope that I could get back into the community someday. What I didn't think of doing was posting pictures of food here on FA but I finally saw that there is a food category in the search system and that it's not just for jello creatures and other things I have seen over the years. Needless to say I am ecstatic with this discovery and will start the process of uploading some new food pics later on after my shift. I'm also planning on including the recipe so that you all can make it at home. I feel like I'm about to take my first steps again, but as the person I have worked so hard to become, and I don't know the last time I've felt that good about myself. <3
Back where I'm happiest
General | Posted 4 years agoHello to anyone who reads this, thank you for taking the time to check this page out
So its been a while, a really long while, since I've been involved with the community. It wasn't for any negative reason like too much drama, though there was plenty to be had like all walks of life, but just simply moving that caused this seclusion from what was my happy established furry community in Boise. It was four years ago when my wife and I set out to make our own adventures and while it has been great and fun, it has also been lonely for the fact where we moved was only a 9,000 person rural town from what was a 350,000 bustling city. Needless to say, there isn't an established group here and I haven't had any luck online finding any neighbors that aren't 2-3 hours drive in just one direction to hang out with. I know it's a long shot but if anyone reading this is from central Oregon, like true middle, please say hi. Though just because there's nobody around isn't going to stop me from getting back into the fandom and has only strengthened my resolve to at least establish a local group. I have also resolved that when this pandemic simmers down some I will make it to my first con since IdaFur Fest 2012 and not to spend the whole event volunteering as staff like last time, just for set up or tear down this time.
Now for the main reason I came back instead of continuing to lurk... I've decided I am going to make art, and furry art has the most diversity of subjects and can go in unlimited directions. I haven't really drawn in almost a decade but I wont let that stop me, if anything I can now relearn the basics without teenage ego getting in the way and improve not only my technique but my perspective on art as well. I have decided to get good with paper and color first but will be progressing to digital soon in the future. I do have hopes of eventually doing commissions and also realize I am a ways from that point but that is only going to be motivation because it's set me on a path, which is more than I've had in a while as life has decided to flip my previous plans on their heads.
So new path and dreams to fulfill with basically unlimited potential and I decide furry art is the direction I want to go, the question now is how many different ways can I art the fandom and how much fun can I have as I discover my style and preferences moving forward. If you have read this far into a new artists journal then politely I ask you to stick around and watch what is created as my journey progresses, and if you have any advice or see something I've done wrong then please share so that I can try to make it better.
