Posted 12 years agoTo our 354 new watchers (and recent shouts)
Posted 13 years agoThank you! :D We cannot have enough tolerant furs in this fandom!!!
To the recent shouts: We do not intend to be a "shield used by people whom wish to stifle criticism of their intolerable behavior" That is completely up to the perception and opinion of those who come across our little corner of FurAffinity. We do not support or rally against anything; things just are and can be, that's what tolerance is. It's not acceptance. Whether or not people who wear our banner on their page commit "intolerable behavior" is left up to their own personal responsibility. I am sure bestiality and pedophilia are the two subjects here that have potential to start alot of drama and debating. HOWEVER, pedophilia and bestiality do not find their way to FA anymore due to the AUP, so they should not even be in question.
Bottom line: Not criticizing the beliefs and likes of others DOES NOT equal harboring pedophilia and bestiality, and our icon on a userpage protects that person about as much as a gay pride bumper sticker.

Fur-submitted question 3
Posted 14 years agoThis actually wasn't submitted by a fur... just... you know... continuity... er... I like things to be consist--SHUT UP! D:<
So... have you ever done something you, by your own standards, would consider intolerant, out of spite? Such as use a derogatory name just to piss someone off?

I apologize
Posted 14 years agoI just read the comments on the next most recent journal and it came to my attention that I had, unfortunately, not taken into consideration our actions as a group in contrast with our view as a group; I made us out to be furs with no backbone to stand up for acts of intolerance instead of making us out to be furs that tolerate (*cough*ignore*cough*), as my roomate put it, "stupid pointless shit".
It has been edited accordingly :) Again, I am sorry to those of you who were offended by it.

Clarification -- "Tolerance"
Posted 14 years agoOkies... so... lots of people have been shouting on the page with questions or comments regarding oxymorons and double negatives within the group, such as members of this group being members of other "intolerant" groups, people's "intolerant" icons, and members of this group committing "intolerant" acts.
Allow me to explain these...
1. Tolerant Furs is not responsible for the actions of their group members, nor do the actions of group members necessarily reflect the views or actions of Tolerant Furs itself -- It's alot like being a furry in the first place, if you feel you are, you're in. We are an identifier, and we have no way to enforce who identifies themselves as tolerant as both Maverick and I have jobs and bills to pay. If someone claims to be a tolerant fur, but shows nothing but intolerance, sure it makes us look bad, but the actions of group members DO NOT reflect on the group itself.
2. Tolerance is not an absolute -- Again, just like classifying yourself as a furry, if you ask 50 different people, you'll get 100 different answers. There is not set standard or regulation of how much toleration equals tolerance, or how much tolerance is required to be a part of this group.
3. Being tolerant does not mean immortal, opinionless, or lacking in emotion -- Everyone has views, everyone has opinions, everyone has bad days, and everyone has hurt feelings. Just because one person in the group is intolerant of one thing does not mean everyone in the group is the same. Being tolerant means you realize something is occurring, and whether or not you give two shits about it, you keep your mouth shut for better judgement; you treat others the way you want to be treated. Again, however, there are breaking points. Everyone has their limits.
4. Knowing when to tolerate intolerance and when to take a stand are part of being tolerant -- One of the most frequent shouts regards to this group "being unable to tolerate intolerance". The ONLY types of intolerance that should be tolerated are minor, non-confrontational ones to avoid unnecessary conflict, and therefore this quote is true, but worded wrong. We are not unable to tolerate intolerance; we simply do not tolerate serious acts of intolerance. If a woman is being abused by her husband and one can tell, someone should take a stand for her. If someone comes on a submission and lashes out about how much he or she hates cub art, it's up to you, but the tolerant thing to do would be to let that person have their opinion, delete the comment, and not respond.
Been wanting to write this awhile! But with moving and new jobs it's been difficult :P

Fur-submitted question 2
Posted 14 years agoIt seems to have become acceptable to tolerate hateful internet communities who gather together purely to insult, harangue or otherwise make fun of a certain group of people, ranging from major issues like race and religion, down to the sorts of clothing people wear or the style of art they practice.
Because it seems to have become socially "acceptable" to form such communities, does that make it right, and just how much should be tolerated?

Fur-submitted question 1
Posted 14 years ago"Would anyone agree that there are times when it is okay to NOT be tolerant of another person's beliefs / actions?"
New Co-owner shows his face :O
Posted 14 years agoWhat is tolerance to you? Oh... and an announcement!
Posted 14 years agoWhat does tolerance mean to you? :) Throw some ideas out there! Get creative! :D
PS: There is a new co-owner to this group! Just gonna throw that out there x3

So, Bin Ladin is out of here
Posted 14 years agoSimilar to the last year's "9/11 - Your Voices" I want to hear what you guys think about THIS too. Saadly, I don't hve time to make a massive journal about it, but there were a few points
- What do you feel about his death?
- Do you truly believe he's dead, or is the fact they are with holding the photos of his headshot a conspiracy?
- How does this change anything?
- Any other opinions you guys have about this situation? Let's hear it!

9/11 - Your voices
Posted 15 years agoToday's that day where we're reminded of exactly what this group is about. Tolerance vs. Intolerance.
But I don't think I need to explain anything since we've been over this topic for the past 9 years. So instead, I'm just simply going to ask you.
What are your opinions. On anything of this day. About the terrorists, about Islam, about how anything has or had been handled. I just, in general, want to know what you all feel about this fateful day that shook the nation 9 years ago.
