2016 already?
Posted 9 years agoFL's treated me pretty well the past few years and living on the gulf coast suits me, I'm not really too much of a fan of the insanity of orlando and south florida - I actually kinda prefer it here. Strange! Never thought I'd be saying that. Anyways, this year'll be Megaplex in August, Furloween in November and no idea what else. Budget is budget and I've gotta be smart about things. Next year I'm hoping to add FWA or TFF to the rotation so that'll be fun if that all works out.
For now I'm gonna be settling into a new shift at work and a new schedule. Later folks.

My thoughts on American Sniper...(No Spoilers btw...)
Posted 11 years agoNo Spoilers btw...
So we just finished watching this movie and if I'm honest I don't understand what the big deal is. Mr Kyle was portrayed as a conflicted individual who did his job, believing it wasn't affecting him - oblivious to its toll on his psyche. Not a flag waving, patriotic lunatic - as some reviews seem to state. (Did they even watch the movie??)
Having known soldiers who have returned from deployment as truly different people, I can say that the films portrayal of PTSD was some pretty accurate work, even some of the subtleties. Especially the dynamic between husband and wife.
I can slightly understand why some people would complain, HOWEVER, personally I don't share their concerns. Sit through the movie in its entirety and form your own opinion on it.
This movie hasn't done any more to demonize a certain group of people than any other war based movie released in the last 30 years. For example, "Apocalypse Now" for Vietnam, "Black Hawk Down" for Somalia and any WWII movie for the Nazi's.
Bradley Cooper - Fantastic job and I hope you feel you did the family justice.
As a final note, the entire audience walked out of the theatre in silence and it was truly haunting. Well worth a watch, regardless of your view of the man.

Current Happenings
Posted 11 years agoSo I fell asleep rather early last night. After the last few days having Bungee here with Maple and I, plus all the running around we did, simply made my body say "enough is enough, you're sleeping early tonight whether you like it or not!"
In case you didn't realise, Bungee Skunk (My roommate and dear friend from when I was in Canada) came down to visit for a few days after it having been almost a year (just a few days shy) since I'd last seen him. He'd timed it to spend my birthday+a few other days with me.
We did a lot of running around and seeing this and that, including the Naval Aviation Museum down here and of course at least one trip to the beach! (the water was so warm it was like a bath!) There was just so much to see of course we couldn't fit it all into just a few days so I guess he'll have to visit again....
Anyways, I had such a great time during Bungee's visit and I'm so glad that he did too! I honestly could not have asked for a better way to spend my birthday.
We miss you Bungee and look forward to the next time we can see you :) whether that's me heading up to Canada to visit or you coming back down here to us again (Perhaps when it's cooler this time eh?)
Now I'm counting down the 10 days till I start training at work and hopefully begin a career path that'll be both fulfilling and lucrative! *fingers crossed*

BoJack Horseman Review
Posted 11 years agoWatched all 12 episodes of BoJack Horseman on Netflix
Honestly it felt like a webcomic that somehow made it to Netflix. Just like every webcomic, it got a bit preachy as the series went on and much less enjoyable, episode by episode. Eventually it just felt way too serious and ended weakly without much of a payoff at all.
The character design was a little strange, anthro animals except...to a point. It's really rather odd, no tails or paws or anything it's almost like a bunch of humans running around with only animal heads on. Weird at times but tolerable.
Mr Peanutbutter was my favourite character in the show, well designed, lots of personality and they nailed his writing for him being a Labrador, plus his voice casting was great XD
Opinion: *shrugs* Meh. Was ok. 3/5 Stars

So here's the rollercoaster ride that was today...
Posted 11 years agoI had a call yesterday, asking me to come and interview for a Pharmacist Tech position today at 11am (it was my preferred application and I was super happy to hear that was the position I was being considered for!). Of course I accepted and after some prep, off I went. The interview was with the store managers and it went great, they loved me and said it was the best interview they've had for years now.
They also said, "it's usually 2-3 weeks" between the first and second interviews but "for Tom, let's skip the delay." I left the store expecting a call within a few days to let me know what was going on... they called me 30 seconds after I left the store and said "hey, can you do TODAY? 3:30pm in Pensacola with the District Manager?" SURE!
It was on the way to that second interview that disaster struck!
Before even crossing the Pensacola Bay Bridge, we stopped to grab Maple a drink at a Tom Thumb off the Avalon Exit. As we left the gas station and turned back towards I-10, I'd just turned onto the On-Ramp when I decided there was no way it was the road surface I'd been feeling and suspected a flat tire, better stop before we get onto the highway! Sure enough, when I pulled over my suspicions were confirmed, we were almost riding the rim of the front left.
It had just hit 2:30pm and although we had a pretty large buffer, I figured I should play it safe. I was able to track down the personal line for the District Manager that I was due to interview with in an hour's time and explained the situation, she assured me that she would be there until I made it in and to stay safe. PHEW!! I felt better! Right, time to get cracking and get us moving again!
We had a spare tire and the tools to fit it, so we started to go ahead and change it, but the guys who put on the tires in the first place used too high of a torque setting on the impact wrench, meaning that we couldn't get the damn thing off with the tools we had! Crap! Hindsight is definitely 20/20, we should have had a 4-Bar in the car! So, we decided to give the quick fix stuff a go, luckily we weren't too far from the gas stations. Maple offered to go but I decided it wasn't the best idea as he struggles more in the heat so off I went. I walked back to buy a can of the stuff and when we tried it, it seemed to work, but we didn't have enough so I had to go back again and buy more. Now, drenched in sweat and really feeling the heat I returned with two more cans of Quick Fill (or whatever, I can't remember). The tire was flat again! Meaning it was a sidewall puncture, or something similar and there was nothing we could do other than to get the spare on....which we couldn't do!
At this point, I thought that literally nothing else could go wrong.
So we had to wait for the roadside assistance guys to show up (whom Maple had spoken to as soon as we discovered we didn't have the leverage to get the flat tire off the car) which was 45 mins!
All the while I was getting increasingly worried about Maple because I can handle the heat better, and yeah, I might have been drenched in sweat and a lil dizzy, but he's diabetic and a big guy, plus he's my man! It's my job to worry about him. Luckily enough we had glucose and insulin (never leaves the house without it).
In the end we were stuck on the on-ramp to I-10 in 100+ heat for over an hour and 20 minutes.
I was was keeping the District Manager updated the whole time and she was assuring me, she'll wait for me. When we finally got back on the road, we had to stop at a gas station so I could clean myself up, get my tie and shirt back on (I'd taken off my dress shirt so it wouldn't get sweaty and was just in my undershirt). I got the oil off my hands, cleaned off my suit pants, put on my stuff and went to the interview and she bloody loved me! She told me she felt awful that she didn't think to offer to reschedule and did nothing but apologise and make sure I was ok for the first couple minutes. I told her, even if she had offered to reschedule, I would have said no. I hadn't gone through all that, just to turn back.
Turns out that me calling her so early to tell her we'd had a flat tire and would be delayed (and keeping her updated with our progress) was a huge plus. Saying that my "attitude and dedication to make it to the interview in a such a professional manner" had seriously impressed her and she will do everything in her power to help me get this position as she feels I truly deserve it.
So the interviews went great! All the details of the work, benefits and training process+future prospects sound fantastic so I'm now eagerly awaiting a phone call from the guys at the store (who both really liked me too) to let me know what's going to happen.
After a long and incredibly stressful day (in both a good and bad way), Me and Maple finally got home at around 7:30pm and immediately passed out in bed. He's still asleep now, but I woke up at around 4:30am and I reckon I'm not gonna be able to sleep more, maybe I'll nap later.
All in all, no matter what happens, this has made for one heck of a story! I really have high hopes for this job and all I can say is that after today...
I better get it.

Rediscovering my love for these two shows...goddamn Ace Hart is too fucking hot! Elliot's got that mild mannered, shy thing going on which I find so attractive ^^ Odd to think he's voiced by the same guy who did Elmo!
Thinking of Sherlock Hound, Moriarty is just perfect and Watson is cute too ^^
Time to watch EVERYTHING

Posted 11 years agoSo was talking to
Wolfie last night, and pretty much decided that I would LOVE to write something in the world of Talespin where the Sky Pirates just have enough of all the bullshit and raze Cape Suzette to the ground, mercilessly.
I've got this seriously twisted image of a burning Hire for Hire reflected in the eyes of Karnage, an evil grin spread across his face...
Wolfie might have to be included :P
Y'know, just to mix shit up.

Posted 11 years agoSo after looking at all the art that I've had done over the past year or so, I've come to the conclusion that I'm distinctly lacking in toony, cute art. This needs to be remedied immediately!! Something cute, friendly or hot :P just in a more cartoony style. Hey I may even get an alternate suit in that style too if the mood takes me.
So point me in the direction of your friends or artist buddies or whatever, I've got a lil scratch put aside that will get me a doodle or two, nothing special.

APPLICATION APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted 12 years agoI GOT MY VISA EXTENSION, I'M STAYING IN CANADA!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
Having a fantastic couple months!
Posted 12 years agoSo since I've settled into work, things have been going great! passed probation (3 months at work), getting good money, moved in with two great furs, one of whom is my best friend and such a sweetheart! - Decked out my new room and en-suite bathroom with colour, amenities, a new surround sound system and soon to be fully decorated!
I'm also now part of the Islington Meet Staff - Here in Toronto (seeing as i live with the two hosts and love to be involved), so I'll be helping in organising and running the meets from now on :)
Honestly, the only thing missing is my VISA extension that will tell me that i can stay here long enough to hit my permanent residency!! that's the missing piece of the puzzle and i can't wait to hear back from the Canadian Government
This English Wolf may one day have Dual Citizenship!
I've also had a lot of art of me and Maple done lately and that will be adorning our bedroom walls! :) There's a reason i chose you guys to do work for me and I'm gonna make full use of it! Do your work justice!!
Anyways it's getting pretty late here and i'm waiting for Maple to get home from watching Iron Man 3 (which i saw earlier)
I think i'll have a chat with him and head to bed,
Night Folks!! xx

Posted 13 years agoIn 4 days I went from having no job and wondering how I was gonna pay rent this January to now having seasonal work that's earning me a fair amount of money (enough to cover bills and live off) AND as of today i have a job starting Jan 14th that will support me for the near future and keep me here in Canada for the next few years,
You guys have no idea how incredibly happy i am today! to not have to worry how i'm gonna pay bills and such and most importantly...
I CAN GET MY FRIENDS CHRISTMAS GIFTS NOW!! INSTEAD OF JUST LOVE....THEY GET THAT TOO THOUGH :P
The furs and folks here in Toronto that welcomed me when i was fresh off the plane from the UK have been just incredible in being patient and showing me round and buying things when i was too poor to spend money on anything other than rent...
They deserve so much and i am so happy to be able to give them something nice :)
Love you furs :)
Happy Holidays!
