Sometimes when I'm alone and the right music is playing, I feel like I'm not really here. Or to be more precise, it feels like I'm not separate from anything else. If all of the universe is just a painting, I'm a part of that canvas and not just a speck of a being traveling around on another speck in a gigantic unending void. This comes close to the description of "enlightenment" I've read in a few books, but the problem with this feeling is as soon as you realize you have it, it's gone. And then you're not supposed to focus too much on obtaining it again or you really can't obtain it.

So it's beautiful, but it sucks. I wish I had some guidance other than books or peers who are in the same situation as me. It's not that I want to obtain this state more, I just want to stop wanting to obtain it more.

Apparently I'm getting back into an industrial music kick. The good thing is that it's been so long since I listened to most of it that most of my favorite artists have at least an album or two out. No idea Combichrist did the DMC game soundtrack!

Listening to really creepy ambient music by an artist called Atrium Carceri and looking at webpages about medieval torture. Creeped myself out too much. :P I'm really glad this kind of thing isn't commonplace and considered entertainment anymore because it's just downright grisly!

I don't really expect any kind of responses since I'm just a watcher account, but I figured I'd put it out here in case anyone wants to provide some input. I recently started dabbling with Sumi-E painting and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good tutorials online or books. I don't really intend to go anywhere with it, just a hobby I do to help my brain unwind at the end of the day. So calligraphy is fine, or maybe more simplistic scenes since it's been a long time since I've exercised any visual artistic muscles. Thanks! =)

 corgii is nearly done with school and will be moving out soon so would like to start building up a savings account. She's currently taking on busts and sketch commissions and has a super short turn around time of a day or two for $10-20. Can't beat that! Going through another one of those phases where I don't feel like I can relate to anyone and that my existence is purposeless. Obviously this isn't true, since I have a wife who relies heavily on my existence, a job that would be lost without me, and family that would be sad without me around, but it's still a feeling all the same. I wish I had the luxury of being able to run off somewhere by myself for a few days until this passes. I'm certainly not unhappy with my life, so I know this will be temporary. I also wish I could drink without my stomach pissing and moaning at me, but it's probably better that I can't. Too easy to use it as a crutch.

Dee Bradley Baker was on Rob Paulsen's "Talkin' Toons" podcast today. Really funny stuff. I can't believe he was Omek in Legends of the Hidden Temple!

I just had an itch to listen to an old song I hadn't heard in a while. Of course, I don't have most of my old albums any more since I sold them, but thankfully everything and anything is on Youtube these days. Queued it up and it triggered a feeling I haven't felt in ages. That wonderful feeling when you get lost for a moment in a song and before it's even over you know exactly what to queue up next to keep the feeling going. I used to want to DJ so bad so I could spend all night doing it with lots of people, feeding off of their moods and energies and finding the perfect song to keep them going. Communicating with people that way is so much more natural to me than how I struggle to do it with words.

I also really missed this feeling. I'm happy because it had been so long that I didn't even know it was gone, but now I'm also sad because it has reminded me of what's gone.

I really hate being bitchypants, but I really dislike this holiday, mostly because of the neighborhood I live in. Very little is illegal in Florida, so I swear people are out next to the house shooting off M80s and screaming. I can occasionally hear bits of stuff raining down on the roof too. I hate that other people's fun irritates me, but I also hate noise for the sake of noise even more. For what it's worth, I don't like concerts either.

I'm also sick and slept like crap last night, so that's my story and I'm stickin to it. :P
