Now You Have All the Out You Want, Nala
Posted 10 years agoChitter chit!
Our ferret Nala always liked to be out. She wanted out of her cage. She wanted out of the room. She wanted out of the house (though that one pretty much never happened :P). A month after we lost Miss Daisy Mae, her playmate/sister Nala has gone to join her. We took Nala in yesterday to get a mass from under her arm removed, and although she seemed to be okay after the surgery, she must have taken a turn in the night. She was already losing a good deal of weight and didn't seem as interested in eating, likely depression from losing Daisy. That or the mass was making it difficult for her. Either way now, she is free to run and play with Daisy, to dook about and have all the "out" she could ever want.

Sleep Well, Miss Daisy Mae
Posted 10 years agoChitter chit...
We lost one of our ferrets this morning. Miss Daisy Mae had not been feeling well and was losing a lot of weight, We tried to feed her nutrient supplements and wet food to keep up her strength, and were waiting to hear for results from the vet to see why she was sick. Sadly, it seems she was too far gone.
She was a sweet little dooker. We have no idea how old she really was since she was originally found by her previous owners wandering around a gas station. But she touched our lives for a year and a half, and that's what matters. Sleep well, little girl.

Anthrocon 2013 Report
Posted 12 years agoChitter chit!
Thursday, July 4th - I got up early and packed, and packed, and packed. Then me and my boyfriend
evilbearfx grabbed some hot dogs for lunch and headed out for downtown Pittsburgh around 12:30 in the afternoon or so. We arrived and parked in the convention center parking, went up to reg to grab our badges, and proceeded to wait for hours on end for
poprockgrey and party to arrive since the hotel room was booked under her. I will note I warned the bear that there was no reason to get there as early as we did since she was gonna be arriving late afternoon/early evening, but oh well. I picked up my corgi partial from a friend of
fennecfur that was delivering it for her and took it to the van while waiting for the hotel room.
We sorta migrated back and forth between the registration area and the zoo while waiting, and at some point I saw something that caught my eye. Jolteon pajamas. But not just any jolteon pajamas. The jolteon pajamas that I had made and ended up selling on furbuy. But there was no mistaking it. Someone was wearing my pajamas, and it made my day. Once Poprock arrived, we unloaded our stuff and reparked his van at the Greyhound bus station where parking was cheaper. At some point we ended up eating at Fernando's, and I got a commemorative dog bowl. The rest of the night I spent kinda chilling with Poprock and
nevask while sewing an elastic band to go between the arms of the corgi partial and sewing up some buttons on the coat of
focslain since he forgot to ask about that before just before leaving for the con. :P Oh, and I saw some fireworks from the hotel windows.
Friday, July 5th - Woke up early and helped the bear bring his stuff down for Artists Alley, the grabbed us some breakfast while we waited for them to actually start letting artists and dealers in. After
went in with his stuff, I ran back to the hotel room to throw on my corgi partial so I could go grab a fursuiter badge. I ended up missing a good chunk of opening ceremonies, so I just got in line for the Dealer's Den. Once inside, I went straight to the con store to find the register wasn't working, so I kinda just chilled for a while and browsed around the Dealer's Den while in suit. After the con store reg was fixed, I went up and asked about fursuit badges. Turns out I was supposed to go to con OPS, not the con store. :P So I ran up there and got in the long line to get a badge. After getting my fursuit badge, I walked around in suit for a bit longer before heading back to the hotel room and cleaning up.
After cleaning up, I went and grabbed some lunch and brought the bear his, then kinda wondered around Dealer's Den, now that I could better see what was up for offer since I didn't have the limited vision from inside a fursuit head. I forget what I did the rest of the afternoon, but afterwards I went to watch Sarduyon, the furry Japanese acrobat perform, and afterward got his autograph! I also said a little something in Japanese and he seemed excited! I then watched 2's rant which was all about crazies stuffing squirrels up their asses (sums it up pretty well I think :P), Afterward the bear and I grabbed gyros and we went to the zoo to hang out, where I ended playing a few games of "Are You a Werewolf" with
,
, and others which turned into a decent sized game after the first couple of rounds as others joined in. I ended up winning the last couple of rounds I played, once for being the fool and getting lynched by everybody, and the last time by being the hunter and after being killed, using my killing shot to kill the last werewolf. After that I went to bed cause I was super tired and knew the bear wanted to set up early for Artists Alley the next morning.
Saturday, July 6th - Helped the bear bring stuff down for Artists Alley again, then went to a panel about getting published. I plugged my mother's publishing company at the end and actually got a card from someone that sounded interested. The panel ran longer than expected, so I went back to the hotel room to get ready for the fursuit parade. I went out and waited with a number of other suiters for them to let us into the room where we'd have our picture taken. We were also going to be taking part in an attempt for a Guinness world record for most fursuiters in one spot. Everyone lined up, we had the massive group picture taken (which was 1300 by Anthrocon staff's count), and we proceeded to parade through the convention center and dealer's den in two lines. showing off our suits for everyone wanting to watch. Afterward, I made my way back to he hotel room, cleaned up, and kinda chilled the rest of the day.
was feeling pretty down since the day before he had made zero sales and he had only made two sales by the time artists alley was closing, with only potential sales for much later down the road appearing. But he had made contact with a suit builder,
karacatcreations that offered to make him a bear head. We ended up hanging out with them pretty much the rest of the night as we discussed potential business ideas and went out for pizza and discussed how to market a potential business and the like.
Sunday, July 7th - I suited up in my Spooks pajamas and helped Logen bring down his stuff again. I grabbed breakfast for us again and then killed a little time before going into the dealer's den. I picked up some clip-on deer antlers from a dealer and some certified badges from
marymouse. I then checked on the bear who was miserable since he had made no new sales. After attending a head furring panel, I checked on the bear again, who was ready to pack up. So I helped him carry his artists alley stuff back to the hotel room and he went to his Warhammer40k tournament. I bought some badges for him to cheer him up a little and gave them to him before running off to a publishing panel so I could plug my mother's publishing company again. After taking stuff he was using for the tournament back up to the hotel room, I dragged
to the closing ceremonies, then let him treat me to Chinese buffet. We chilled in the zoo for a little bit with
poprockgrey,
nevask, and
jadekatt before we ended up leaving since he and I both had places to be in the morning. We said our goodbyes, packed up, and headed out.
Overall I had a good time. And sorry if I didn't mention people, but I don't think I have your FA accounts or I may have just plain forgotten. :P Feel free to comment and I'll add you in where appropriate.

Anthrocon 2012 Detailed Report
Posted 13 years agoChitter chit!
Warning, this will be a long one. This is how I spent my time at Anthrocon (as far as I can remember it):
Thursday 6/14: It all began 3:30AM (Central time) as I woke up, showered, ate breakfast, and then double and triple-checked that everything was packed. I left home at 5:30 and drove to the George Bush airport in Houston. I arrived a couple hours early and waited for my 10:21 flight to Pittsburgh. I got on the plane, watched the take off, and then slept until we were nearly there. The plane landed as scheduled around 2:15PM (Eastern), I grabbed my stuff, and jumped in a cab to the hotel. The cabbie was very friendly and even pointed out some fantastic views on the way and some nice places to eat once we were nearly there. The scenery on the way was gorgeous and I fell in love.
I arrived at the Omni and ran up to the hotel room where I met my roomie for the weekend,
doornob! Apparently our other roomie bailed, and rather than split what they would have owed, she said she'd cover the entire hotel bill. I offered to pay my original share, but she kept insisting. So we went to the convention center so I could get my badge, and then went out to eat pizza since neither of us had had lunch yet and it was getting into late afternoon. We found a pizza place and ordered up a pizza, and got toppings for free since they had one that had been sitting there for over 45 minutes that was supposed to be picked up. We then headed back to the hotel and determined a game plan for the rest of the evening. We went to the Precon Social, had some cookies and milk and brownies, and met some people. I fell in with a group playing Munchkin, and we had some pretty epic moments during the game. X3 I went to an improv panel called "Whose Lion is it Anyway" for a while and watched the shenanigans unfold. After it got late I went back to the hotel so I could get up for Opening Ceremonies the next morning!
Friday 6/15: Got up, went to Starbucks in the hotel lobby for breakfast, then went back to the hotel room to put on my Spooks kitty partial! We went to the Convention center, and as we were lining up for the opening ceremonies, a security member called out to me. What I did not know is Sponsors get their own special lines for events, so I went to the shorter sponsor line to get into the opening ceremonies! After opening ceremonies, I went down to the dealer's den, where I started to wander around looking for a
poprockgrey. She called out to me, and I said hi! I also nommed on the rat tail and ears she made for me (I was still wearing my kitty partial :P). I then wandered over to artist alley to say hi to an
iggi! She handed me my badges and I then decided to go back to the hotel and get changed out of the partial since I didn't want to tire out too soon on the first day.
I went back to the convention center after changing and putting on my rat tail and ears. I went to a place called Fernando's to eat, seeing as how it was getting so much publicity after a bunch of furries gather together and donated money to keep it running at least through Anthrocon. It was delicious, and I went back over and over to eat there throughout the weekend. X3 I went back to the Dealer's Den (now that I could see better) and browsed around. I also said hi to poprockgrey again since I wasn't a kitty anymore and we could really meet. She gave me the other ears she had made for me, and she was picking up the squirrel tail she made to hand to me...and the curl popped. >.< She told me she'd try to get it fixed by tomorrow morning and couldn't stop apologizing even though I said it was okay. I wandered around the dealer's den some more and found a DVD I didn't know existed. Alakazam the Great! A translation of a movie by Osamu Tezuka, my favorite manga artist/anime creator of all time! I had to have it! So I bought it! X3 I then wandered artist alley, met iggi again and picked up the sketchbook she made for me! I browsed the Art Show and decided to wait until the next day to bid on anything. I went back to the hotel room with the stuff I did grab and switched to fennec ears and tail.
At 6 I went to a performance by a special guest from Japan, Sarduyon. He did all sorts of acrobatic stunts...while in fursuit! It was insane! He started off slow by wiggling his way through a small hoop. Then he started hoops and balls. Then came the most impressive part. He set out a table, grabbed some folding chairs, and began stacking them on the table. He climbed on top of them, and balanced on top of them. Then added more and balanced on top of that. Then he grabbed a flat board, balanced up on one arm, and stretched himself out horizontally. It was insane! After that, got more food and unexpectedly ran into poprockgrey! We hung out for a bit before she headed back to her hotel with an upset tummy. I went back to the convention center to watch 2 the Ranting Griffin do a performance. All I will say about that is "pancakes." After that I watched a puppet show that was pretty good...until the audience started participating without being asked. Afterward it was getting pretty late so I ran back to the hotel room.
Saturday 6/16: I got up, put on my kitty ears and tail, and went to the convention center. I derped around for a bit and checked up on my squirrel tail, which poprockgrey was still having trouble with getting the curl to stay stuck without popping again. I went ahead and bid on some stuff in the art show, then ran back to the hotel room so I could dress up for the fursuit parade! I got to the hall where we were all supposed to meet up, and there I met David Sutak in his Statik partial and I also met an artist friend of mine,
rusheloc in his Badger Loser partial. We lined up for the big group photo, and began to march out in the parade around the convention center. After the parade I derped around in the Dealer's Den a bit and then went back to the hotel room to clean up since i had been in suit for a little while.
I went back to the Dealer's Den just wearing my squirrel ears, and lo and behold, Pop had finished fixing the squirrel tail! I tried it on, and it was awesome! It stood without any supports and the curl was lovely! I went to Artist's Alley and commissioned some badges for my characters that didn't have badges yet, then I went to Uncle Kage's story hour. I went and got some food, derped around a bit, and decided to take a look at the MLP: FiM panel. I never realized how fanatical some bronies can be. I left after they started just showing an episode of the show. I could do that at home if I just wanted to watch the show. It was getting sort of late, so I went back to the hotel room.
Sunday 6/17: Got up, put on my squirrel tail, and of course went to the convention center. I planned to meet up with rusheloc while there, and I finally bumped into him out of suit in the Artist's Alley. We chatted a bit and he drew up a sketch in my Sketchbook of my fursona turning into a badge! Then I went to Art Show to place my final bids before returning to the table we were sitting at and trying to draw up something for rusheloc in return. It didn't turn out very well. Doesn't help I had no real idea what to draw even while drawing it.>.< Anyway, I shopped around the Dealer's Den for a while, trying to find some souvenirs for my family and deciding what to spend my left over cash on. I grabbed a bunch of plush toys after deciding I needed at least one for each of my characters. I also picked up the art I had won in the art show. I'm sad I missed out on a couple of pieces, but clearly someone else wanted them more. X3 I took everything back to the hotel room and switched to the rat ears and tail since the squirrel tail gets heavy after wearing it for hours on end.
I returned, ran by Artist's Alley to try and pick up my badges, but none of the artists I had commissioned were there anymore (which made sense since it wouldn't be long before they started shutting everything down), so I'll have to wait to get those in the mail. I got some food and got me doggy bowl to eat it in! I then went to a furry research debriefing before going to closing ceremonies. At closing ceremonies some staggering numbers were announced. $20,000 was raised for this year's charity, "Hello Bully," a pit bull rescue operating locally in the Pittsburgh area. 1044 dressed up for the fursuit parade, and over 5000 were in attendance altogether for the con! And the con chair, Uncle Kage, ended our Midsummer's Night Dream and awoke us all as the con was officially closed. Me and doornob then went back to the hotel room and derped around for a bit, watching "Fantastic Mr. Fox" while trying to decide on where to have dinner. We got food and stayed up for a while before going to bed.
Monday 6/18: doornob and I got up early, and she left around 10 to catch her plane. I stayed and got a late breakfast at the Starbucks in the hotel, the stuck around a little bit longer since my plane wasn't leaving until 5:37. I managed to pick up one of the badges I didn't yesterday since the artist hadn't left her hotel yet, but I still need to wait on the other two to get mailed. I finally left a little after 11 since I figured I'd be doing the same stuff waiting at the airport that I'd be doing waiting in the hotel room, so I grabbed a cab and was on my way. I will say this...never again will I plan on waiting 5 or so hours at the airport for a flight if I can help it. That suuuuucked. Anyway, got on my flight back to the Houston airport, had a brief scare with my trunk holding my partial (it was set aside at a different baggage claim for stuff like golf clubs and oversized luggage for some reason), and got the parking lot where my truck was. I loaded up and headed out to home.
I had a fantastic time and would love to do it all over again, and I definitely wanna spend more time with many of you the next time around!

I'm gonna post links to all my character refs here and link it to my profile so I don't have to keep hunting for them, especially since some are starting to get buried a good ways into my gallery. >.<

National Coming Out Day! You Know What This Means...
Posted 14 years agoChitter chit!
Time to come out. For those that haven't been watching me long, I used to have a male 'sona. And for those wondering why I chose to switch to a female 'sona and just couldn't figure it out for themselves or wanted to hear it from me first before assuming, here's why.
I"M A BICURIOUS TRANSEXUAL!!!
Feels a little bit better being able to openly admit it. For the longest time I've played around with the idea, and around the start of college I took little baby steps to kinda test myself. I let my hair grow out after high school graduation. I got my ears pierced at the end of my first semester. About midway through college, I tried shaving my body hair for the first time. And I'd kinda back off from all of it after reaching a peak each time, but looking back on it all, I can't keep trying to deny it or hide it. I feel so much more comfortable identifying as female, and if I can ever save up the funds, I'd like to make my body match with that.
Now as for my sexual leanings, I still tend to prefer boobies, but I'm open to the idea of being with a guy. Just not too keen on taking it up the arse as of yet, so it'd definitely have to be based on love and not on love-making. >.<
For now I plan to wait until I've talked with a psychiatrist before I do anything like legally changing my name or going around in public crossdressing, but I feel admitting it is definitely a good first step.

Figured I should set up a permanent list of projects I'm working on so as to clean up my profile page and what not. Anyway, these are all the slots for my projects. I will try to limit the number of current commissions to absolutely no more than 3, but will add a waiting list if interest is high enough.
Commission Queue (Closed):
1.
2.
3.
Trades (Closed):
1.
2.
3.
Giveaways:
1.
2.
3.
Personal Projects (if I ever get around to 'em >.<):
1. Amaterasu Hoodie (with interchangeable divine instruments) - 70% complete, need to touch up paint, assemble pieces
2. Pumpkin fursuit - 5% complete, head foamed, body shape formed
3. Xander fursuit - 0% complete, have materials?

Furry Fiesta 2011 Report
Posted 14 years agoHowdy all! I really don't do stuff like this, but I figured it was worth sharing. So, after having a week to sit and reflect on what was awesome and to let slip that which was not truly memorable, I bring to you a report of sorts of my trip to Furry Fiesta at the end of February.
So, my con adventure began in quite the rush. That Friday morning, I had just gotten off of work due to our store having inventory, and I had to bolt home, get changed, throw everything in the truck, down an energy shot, and hit the road. After a two and a half hour trip, I reached the home of one of the friends I'd be riding with to Furry Fiesta. I hadn't met him in person before, but he turned out pretty cool. We packed our stuff in his rented jeep (for his was having worrisome signs of trouble, and long road trip + car maybe breaking down = no fun). We drove to pick up our other friend whom we were riding with, and along the way I got to know the driver better. We picked up our other friend, and after some quick stops for gas and snacks we were on our way. And I slept off and on, having had no sleep the previous night from work.
I awoke off and on sorta, but didn't really wake up until we were near the hotel. Upon arrival, they sorted out their hotel room while I hooked up with my roommate for the con. We then registered for the con and went our separate ways for the time being. I chose to register as a sponser, paying a little extra to recieve a shirt and some extra goodies since I knew I wanted to get a shirt anyway. I took some time to freshen up and sort out a pseudo game plan for the con.
I quickly scouted out the dealer's room since it was near closing. Having satisfied my curiosity as to what wares I may find, I then set out to learn the layout of the convention and see if mayhaps I could get some pictures. I found Star Wars playing in the video room (appropriate for a 70's themed con). My roommate invited me to find a place to dine with him, and after a random search where we drove in circles and spent time getting to know one another, we stopped at a Steak'n'Shakes. After getting back to the con, I meandered around a while longer, getting some photos and cecking out the gaming room. Then I waited outside the main lobby for "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
This particular production was put on by Los Bastardos, and many of the extras in the cast were wearing make-up and tails/ears/whatever to sorta add a furry flair. It was a fun experience, and the first time I had seen it performed by any cast other than at Aggiecon. Some of the call lines were different, and it seemed extremely scripted at some times, but I had fun nonetheless. After the show, my bed called to me.
The next morning I checked out Art Show since it had closed shortly after I arrived the previous day. I found some art I liked and placed my bids. I then returned to the room, at which point my camera acted funny and stopped working! Luckily, I had my DSi on hand, and with the (admittedly lower quality) camera it possesses, I found myself still able to take pictures for the rest of the convention. I then suited up! Keaton then walked out of my room and proceeded down to the convention. Keaton arrived at a panel room, in which they were discussing Performance 101. Keaton took a seat, and since the hosts of the panel insisted he take his head off, I did, and listened to what they had to say. It mostly consisted of interactions with children (and how not to make it creepy), and with other suiters/mascots (how not to step on each others paws/bump each others faces). I was expecting something more along the lines of gestures to use in suit and what not, but it was still good.
Afterward, it was time to start lining up for the fursuit parade, so Keaton replaced his head and headed toward the main lobby. In the lobby, Keaton took pictures of many fursuiters that were in there! Sadly, he had a hard time seeing if the pictures were all turning out alright, so some were blurry beyond saving, especially for some of the coolest or his favorite suits. After a little while, the suiters all lined up, Keaton included, and they paraded around the convention area, letting other con-goers take pictures of them. Keaton was often holding his hand up to his face and acting as if he was giggling or scheming. The procession ended where it began, and Keaton remained for the photo op that followed. Once he had a high quality photo taken, Keaton found it prudent to return to my room and rest, for he is not used to revealing himself for so long, to so many.
After I had undressed and freshened up, I returned to the convention area and entered the dealer's room, where I made some fine purchases. One of which was a badge I am still eagerly awaiting in the mail, as the artist drawing it had taken too many commissions and found herself desperately trying to get badges with sooner deadlines done before the end of the con and falling behind. I explored the Artist Alley, and found some interesting art, but one artist prompted me to commission yet another badge, one that was indeed done that evening. But having to add my own hole and later laminate it (which I intend to do if I can remember to do so) may account for the time/price difference between it and the other badge. I also caugt the end of the Furry Night Live variety show, a bunch of skits performed by con-goers, many of which in their suits. And some house skits to fill the rest of the time.
As evening descended, I snacked, and joined up again with my ride mates. We looked into gaming and then hung out at the art jam tables. I was just doodling so they wouldn't send me off for not art jamming, but my two friends were seriously at their art. One was creating chain link jewelry, and the other was working on a digital piece of her fursona, a mixture of a cougar, wolf, and Eastern dragon if I remember correctly. Anyway, after the art jam, we seperated again. I'm not sure where they went, but I found myself drawn to the video room. They were getting set to play a double-feature of X-rated furry films, rated for nudity, violence, and radical political ideologies. The movies were "Fritz the Cat" and "The 9 Lives of Fritz the Cat." The first movie was about a ca named Fritz, a college student in the sixties who finds himself wandering the road and getting mixed up in the troubles of the times, from the Civil Rights movement to radical anarchist revolutionaries. Not to mention some fine ladies he sleeps with along the way. The second movie...took all the acid trips and sex jokes from the first one and magnified them, while taking out anything of real substance. Though it did perhaps have one of the most interesting lines I've heard in a while. As Fritz is staring at the devil, the devil acts all flamboyant, and Fritz says something like, "My God! Satan's a fag!" After the movies, I heeded the call of my bed and went to sleep.
The next morning, Keaton made another appearance, and after wandering the ahlls for a little while searching for a skull kid he had heard of but never finding him, he met up with my ride mates and let them take pictures before returning to my room to rest. I freshened up and headed down to art show to check on the art pieces I had bid on. I was still winning most of them, and I could do without the ones I wasn't. Satisfied with that, I headed to the fursuit rodeo and met with my ride mates again. We watched as fursuiters played soccer with a giant ball (rampant cheating was to be had with hand usage), play a game of scorpion in which one was poisoning all the others until one left standing, and another game in which cheating was extremely rampant (as in one team completely exploited a lack of clarification in the rules).
After the fun and games, we went and watched the Fursuit Macguyver contest, in which the Fursuit Guest of Honor (Lucky Coyote), competed against another guest fursuit maker (Cyber), to create a partial fursuit within an hour and a half using only their own tools and supplies provided for them at the event (not to say they couldn't have other supplies brought in once it started). The fur flew as they worked (so did some cardboard, colored duct tape, glue guns, etc.)! In the end Lucky Coyote had created a bird (dubbed Tookie), and Cyber had created a fox (dubbed Leashy Fox). The two suits were equally impressive considering the limits on time and supplies. In fact, the voting seemed to be at a stalemate! But in the end, Lucky Coyote's Tookie won the contest.
I picked up the art I had won and me and my friends then went to view con-goers bust up pinatas for prizes. They were running behind schedule, so the only real rules in effect were no more than three swings, and no bodily harm to any person. They even did away with blindfolds and allowed stabbing! After this, we said our farewells to the con and began to head out. But the story does not quite end there.
We were hungry and decided to have dinner before getting too far. We loked for some restaurants in the area, and decided in the end to visit The Magic Time Machine. the blurb for it sounded pretty fun, and boy was it a blast! The whole point is to be as silly as possible. We were waited upon by Cinderella, and saw other characters such as Mr. Incredible, Robin Hood, and Lilo (with Stitch). I ordered a magic potion, which comes in red, green, blue, yellow, or ugly. I chose yellow. The drink was bubbly and stayed as such for a litle while. Oh, and did I mention we got sprinkled with pixie dust (napkins)? We had VIP seats next to the salad car, and we were assured by Cinderella that if we got up and got lost somewhere along the way, that it's not her fault. Oh, and at the end of the meal, she rained Dumdums upon us. And before I forget, one of my friends needed to use the restroom. Cinderella gleefully showed her the way, while warning others of the emergency. She took it rather well considering.
The way back we all talked for a bit, though I ended up dozing off before too long. We arrived back where we had began, said our goodbyes, and I was on my lonely way back to home late in the evening. I arrived home safe and sound ( though it was a bit late), and I began to unpack a little before going to sleep. I was rather glad I had the next day off to relax before I had to go back to work! All in all, I had a blast, and would be happy to do it again.
