I made a Flickr for references!
Posted 12 years agoI was kind of getting tired of going to my Pics folder, looking up the artist, then finding the FA link (because I don't fave adult stuff normally) for when I wanted to have a quick reference handy, and then I remembered Flickr!
You get a free 1TB of photos, you can arrange it in folders, and the interface is really pretty, so from now on, all commissions I get will be uploaded to my photostream over there. With credits, of course!
Link is here:

If you're curious to see how my fursona's evolved over time and what styles I tend towards, it should be interesting...Naughty pics aren't filtered for now, but they're at least hidden from public eyes.
I've left out some of the really old and obsolete character pics I've gotten for posterity, but that doesn't mean I've ever stopped appreciating the artists who did them for me <3
As you may notice, I don't have a particularly singular look, or a commission that outright defines my character exactly as it should be, and I rather like it that way.
I don't have much in the way of ideas (not the most creative of people tbh), so when I get a free-form (ie. not a stylized badge, YCH or template) commission I like it to mean something to both me and the artist, and by letting them do it in a way they're comfortable with rather than "being my hand"/defining my inner vision, it often turns out better than I would have thought of anyway.
Some of my characters aren't even drawn yet, so keep an eye out for new art!

[VIDEO] What Happens When A Roo Eats a Hot Pepper

defeatdown eats a habanero pepper and plays vidyagames. Hilarity ensues. I narrate awkwardly.Share this video, guys! If you like it, Like it and pass it on to someone you think would enjoy. It'd be awesome if this went viral.
oh wow oh gosh oh damn
Posted 12 years agomy best friend just told me he's considering making a fursona.
I've known this dude for 19 years, went to school together, etc etc, basically we know everything about each other, and i'd always pinned him for a fur-friendly, more of a gamer type. But he's attending Full Sail University, and that place is apparently swarming with furs (he claims it's just him, but dropped the theory just now when he asked a random passerby if he knew what a furry was. I was laughing really goddamn hard over the phone.) So I guess he's been influenced just a little bit. Hopefully he doesn't stay a fox for too long. :P
Anyway, that makes me more than a little happy, and I have nothing else to post about. The weather is perfect today, it really makes me want to wear my fursuit (!!!!), and I'm generally in a really good mood between classes and work.
Keep an eye on Savannimals for events! See y'all 'round!

Not going to Megaplex
Posted 12 years agoYeah, unfortunately this year I won't be able to make it to one of my favorite cons - Megaplex 2013 falls on the same weekend as my dad's family reunion up in Wisconsin. Not only am I not going to pass up a chance to binge on cheese curds, craft beer and American brandy (three largest exports of WI), but my grandmother is 90 and there honestly probably won't be another one since my dad has such a huge family.
I'm really gonna miss it; I've had nothing but good times at all the Megaplexes I've been to, but it's not like I'm so far away from FL that I can't visit my buddies soon after <3
I'm especially gonna miss it b/c it would have been the debut of the soon-to-be-mine fursuit AnDante, built by the wonderful elkdragon. I guess I'll save him for public appearance at TomorrowWorld in September~ (And there will be pics when he arrives - it'll be hard to get me out of it for the first few days, I imagine.
So yeah, I'm gonna miss all you guys, and I'd love to hang with whomever is going that I won't see (AHEM
kirron &
roko ), but
defeatdown will still be there, and he'll do all the hanging out and partying in my absence.
Lots of love~

He's an excellent friend of mine, he's been drawing forever, and boy is he talented.
We're still working on getting his name out there, so give his gallery a look (here are some handy links for you), and come and join us!
He's building up a commission queue, and during these streams he might even do a request or two! Tonight he's doing a super-sexy Egyptian-themed piece, so you know Anubis will be involved. Everyone loves Anubis.
Seriously, come check it out! It'll start up about 9:30, so we're all just hanging out right now.

are you hype yet
Posted 12 years agoI'm so hype, I packed yesterday. For a con that's next week.
anyway have a meme because it's a more readable format than the pages and pages that I want to write.
also i deleted stupid questions because y'all know me.
Where are you staying?
Westin Atlanta Airport. WESTIN PEACHTREE PLAZA SORRY. We're picking up
ianmj91 and
xxedenxx, so it's pretty convenient far away nvm
What day are you getting there?
Wednesday!
Who will you be rooming with?
defeatdown and the two mentioned above. It's gonna be a good time.
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Anyone with a tail, literally or just in your imagination.
Will you be suiting?
I really really want to ;~;
How tall are you?
5' 10" not counting my 15-inch liberty spikes. Because I have those. Yep.
Can I talk to you?
Why wouldn't you?
Can I touch you?
I dunno, can you?
How can I find you?
I'll be the swaggest, most stylin', most motherfuckingest motherfucker there. Ain't no lie.
Can I visit your room?
If you're reading this, you probably will be.
Can I buy you drinks?
Forgot to mention, I'm kind of turning 21. So yeah, buy me all the drinks you want. I can take it.
Are you nice?
If I weren't nice on the weekend I look forward to all year, that would ruin it just as much for me as it would for you. :C
Will you be going to parties?
Bitch I AM the party.
Will you be performing?
Define performing.
What/where will you be eating?
There's an earlybird dinner at Hard Rock Cafe on Wednesday, so we'll be at that. And then maybe one more meal out. But I'm bringing a cooler full of food because I'm a college kid who actually likes eating cheap.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
sure lol (BWAAA BWAAA UNCREATIVE ANSWER)
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
I always carry a notebook around with me at cons to record memories and people I meet, and it would only add to that if anyone wanted to draw anything. <3
Can I take your picture?
Please! I never take pics at cons, so I rely on other people's evidence~
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Really, just to have a good time with friends I only get a few chances each year to see. I basically got an entire new wardrobe for this con, and I've honestly been hyping myself up probably way too much. Ah well.
Hope to see you there!

Furry Cookout 2013!!
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone!
lavasplit is hosting a party/cookout at his pad this weekend! Saturday at ~3, to be precise.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4378079/
I don't know why anyone would see my journal before they saw Savannimals, but it's worth spreading the word. If you can make it, PM him for directions, as it's an RSVP event.
If you can't make it, don't worry! I'm stressing out over a few things on my plate currently, but as soon as those are out of the way (that is, after FWA), we'll be having more regular meets once the weather warms up (and is consistent). And remember you're always welcome to set up meets on your own - just let me know if you'd like the Savannimals account to spread the word!

So I met my birth mother the other day
Posted 13 years agoYes, I'm adopted. No, it's never been a big deal to me, nor have I really ever thought about it past "Wouldn't it be interesting if I met her." I haven't posted this journal for a couple days because I wanted time to think about it, and time to figure out how I would share my experience with you guys.
My adoptive parents (and unknowingly, I as well) have kept in touch with my birth family throughout the years, and I have fond memories of being around my aunts and cousins (of course, I didn't know my relation to them at the time), so it could only follow that meeting my birth mother would go just as well.
When I came into the room, my aunt and her daughters, all whom I knew well, were engaged in conversation with my adoptive parents, and the other woman on the couch was a smart-but-casually-dressed, attractive woman with earrings and her hair pulled back in a bun; she didn't say much at first or make eye contact with me (which is understandable), but after my cousins left, she gradually became a funny, intelligent conversation partner with plenty of interesting stories and arguably the coolest business plan ever.
My mother is a huge Star Wars nerd, 70s memorabilia and classic rock fan, as well as comic book and tattoo artist. She lives in a town in middle Georgia with a population of 149, and owns a 1992 Fleetwood Sprinter, a 31ft RV that she plans to fix up and drive to music festivals around the country to set up shop as a mobile tattoo parlor.
I'm telling you all this not to impress you, or to brag, but just to emphasize the importance of family and the upkeep of relationships you make a month, a year, or twenty years ago. I couldn't be luckier to have awesome family on all sides, and I hope to keep in contact regularly now that the twenty-year-old ice has been broken, so to speak.
No matter what terms you're on with someone now, if you've reached out and put forth the effort to begin a relationship, be it smiling at a stranger that you never see again or talking to someone in line with whom you later become best friends, you should appreciate that effort and never regret it. My parents taught my mother, and they resounded so strongly with her that she asked them to raise her child.
Value your friends. Understand your enemies. Treasure your life, and the people in it.
I'm starting college again, so I don't know how much you'll hear out of me here, but I'll be around. Have a happy new year, guys. See y'all soon.
(P.S. if you haven't heard of these guys already, make sure to check them out. They're speedrunning games for charity, namely for cancer prevention, and they're doing an amazing job. Like, $112,000+ in less than three days. Donate if you're able, and check out some really awesome games while you're at it!)

"Please Don't Vote For Romney"
Posted 13 years agoHey, look, it's the only time that Toraie will be voicing a political opinion! But wait, notice something about this journal? There are quote marks around the title! Meaning I'm sharing something that I read!
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3964340/
It's informative, honest, and if you aren't familiar with Vahn already, then you should know he's just a great guy to talk to. Always has nice things to say about anything, and I value his insights. Take a minute to read over it, because this stuff is important, and will affect you no matter what you think. Even if you hate Obama, he's better than the alternative on a larger scale and within the States.

Looks like I got plans for AWA
Posted 13 years agoSo yeah, just tonight I found out that one of my best internet buddies will be running the arcade at AWA (it's a fucking big con, they don't just have a "game room"), and as I've never met him in person, I'm planning on going up there and paaaaarty!
Anime Weekend Atlanta is the weekend of September 28th-30th, and it's a pretty big deal here in Georgia.
I've never been to an anime convention however, and most likely I won't be participating in a whole lot of it. But this is basically my convention fix between Megaplex and FWA, and it'll be at least a little furry, so I think it counts.
I really have no set plans right now other than "I am going," but I'll work that out soon enough, probably this weekend when I can take a break from classwork.
So right now, I'm gonna request off work and try to maybe gather some interest in seeing who might want to carpool up with me?

not so much furry
Posted 13 years agoI fucking love furries.
Don't get me wrong, I will always have a connection with people who like the same things I do, but lately...I haven't been much for the whole local furries/meet-ups lately, as some of you may have noticed.
I've been thinking a lot about college and plans for the near and not-so-far future, and until I get all that figured out, I don't have as much room to think about organizing big group events and such as I used to. The Savannimals account is still active for anyone who wants to take the initiative to set up meets, but I think I'll be stepping down for a while.
This does not mean that I am losing touch with you guys as friends - I'm always up for a small get-together as long as I have the time for it, and thinking that I'm going to abandon my friends after 3+ years of knowing most of you is just crazy.
A lot of you might be able to relate to this as "growing up" or "having responsibilities," you know, and when it cools down sometime this fall, maybe I'll have a small party or fursuiting event to bring the group back together, but I start classes in two weeks, and they're not exactly going to be easy.
So keep in touch everyone, and I'll see you soon!
