Animal Crossing... Yep, I got it too... And something extra.
Posted 12 years agoI wasn't planning on it, but I broke down and picked it up. I'll post the codes for visiting soon. I have a bunch of baby trees that I don't want wrecked yet. Also still getting the town how I want it.
For now though, I'd like to go on record that in the two other AC games that I've played, I've NEVER caught a Coelacanth. Nights upon nights of fishing in storms until I was blue in the face. Tonight, the quest for the living fossil has finally succeeded.
If you have swapnote and are on my friend's list, I have already sent a photo of this accomplishment. I got a pic. It DID happen.
That's pretty much it. Besides that, I've been working and trying not to go insane with a few changes to my home life. Starting to get the feeling back in my drawing hand, so hopefully I'll get some new stuff up... and finish a few long overdue projects.

Car... get?
Posted 12 years agoOk... so... I have some good news and bad news. I'll start with the good news. I have a car! After all these years, I finally have my own.
Now for the bad news. It's in need of some repair work. The mechanic I took it to, who's thankfully a relative, had a look over it and it'll take him about a week to fix.
And here's why I even started a journal about it. I got the car at an auction on Thursday night. I'd gone up with my dad and we looked over lots of the cars to see what was there and what I would bid on. I'd looked over that car and didn't think much of it. I could tell it needed work, but in the back of my mind, I figured that if it went low enough, I could afford to get it drivable as well.
When the bidding started on the first few cars, I was nervous. I'd spotted a nice mustang and I'd planned to use it as a 'break in' bid to get used to the auction environment. It went way further than my wallet would allow in four bids. About five minutes later, the car I won drives in and the price starts at my upper limit, 2K. No one bids and the price goes down and down, eventually hitting 600. I smirked and decided 'what the hell' and used that as my break in. Imagine my surprise when no one else bid at all. Even for a fix it job, that was crazy cheap. I could have gotten more out of it in parts than what I paid for it, easily.
After I won it, my dad was a bit steamed because we hadn't discussed that particular car, but a couple of days later now, he's starting to understand that first, it was mostly an accident that I'd won it. If anyone had outbid me by even a dollar, I would have walked away. Second, that it was a little gem hiding under a few problems that won't cost a fortune to fix.
At least I'm hoping that's the case. The mechanic is very confident that the problem isn't anything engine destroying, so it should be good on that. Expect the tigermobile to appear in a photo sometime... maybe if I can get together what I need to give it a custom paint job. ;3

SO. MANY. STREETPASSES.
Posted 12 years agoAnimeNext has ended for another year and I'm headed for home tomorrow morning. I'll give a full report then, but suffice to say... this year was a blast and I can't wait for the next one. Managed to fill ALL of the panels in the puzzle swap and got more hats.

Fire Emblem Awakening...
Posted 12 years agoI think I love this game. Not just because it's a kick ass RPG, but because of the different things you can do between characters... especially in getting them to pair off and have kids (who come from the future to fight with you. @_@). Lots of R34 material in this game... and I'm honestly thinking about drawing a little of one of the more unusual couples I decided to try.
My only complaint is that I didn't realize that relationships in the game could go THAT far and ended up with Chrom married to Sully. I was hoping to get him and Sumia together... And unfortunately, all of them are faithful as Labradors...
Ok, no real other reason for making this journal. Going to do some coloring tonight. It's hard to keep focused on it after you get used to streaming.

Still catching up...
Posted 12 years agoYou guys are quite busy beavers. I'm working on catching up on submissions even now, taking out two and three days worth in a single sitting each day.
Oh well, I'll get through them when I get through them.
Got a bit of news, since we couldn't get any bites for the hotel room, we've decided to cancel one, bringing down to two full rooms. I was hoping that someone might want to go, but alas.
Stalled on the Book of Narumi... for several days now due to being busy whenever I want to draw. How does that keep happening.
And now, I turn the journal over to my watchers. What have you all been up to? Is there anything you'd like to ask me? I've really missed chatting with several of my friends from here over the last few months.

46 days worth of submissions...
Posted 12 years agoTax season just officially ended for my office and tomorrow is the cleanup day. Gonna sleep, go through that and then I get to relax.
I'm sorry I've been away so much and I know there's lots I haven't gotten to do or comment on. I'll be trying to make up for lost time once I get to rest.

Updating again
Posted 12 years agoHi everyone. Just thought I'd drop a journal before I go to bed.
Tax season is going fairly well. Exhaustion from both jobs is getting worse and worse, but I'll survive long enough to get through the worst of it.
Tonight, I got to confirm that I share an allergy with my mother. I won't say exactly what it is, but a customer at the game shop came in reeking of it and I nearly passed out at the register. The manager on duty is a buddy of mine and was nice enough to take over the transaction so I could go get some fresh air. I'm still light headed after nearly six hours. There were a number of other things that happened in the incident, but I'm not at liberty to discuss.
When I got home, I decided to experiment with some sausages and Yakisoba. They made a pretty good mix. While eating, I watched most of Half Blood Prince for the first time. I really do need to see it from the start.
After a shower, I talked with my mother a bit about cats and ... I don't even know how to tell the story in a believable way since the only pictures are held by the owners of the animals... but I now know why I still see tigers in my dreams so often. I got to spend a day with some when I was little. My memories of the day are fuzzy at best, but my mom remembers very clearly.
What a night... *goes to sleep*

It is done...
Posted 13 years agoSomehow... I managed to survive the Calendar project and finish all 15 characters... for a total of 18 pics (Patches got 4)!
It was a wild ride, and it ended right on Christmas day. Gonna rest, enjoy some time with family and get ready for a new year of challenges.
Picked up Batman as well as Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed. Sucked that the latter had to download an update as soon as I put it in, but it's been fun so far. Unlocking the mirrored tracks now... and getting ready to start A class runs. I'm not brave enough for the S class that I just unlocked.
Tax season is right around the corner too, and I have returned to that little slice of Hell. I'll still be trying to draw and such, but don't expect anything too frequent.
I have one more naughty pic I have planned with Tora, then he's taking a break... and getting some ointment. He's had a long year.
Since I met the challenge, I guess I'm ready for commissions proper. During tax season though, I'll be limiting to one slot at a time. After April 20th or so, I'll open up back to 4.

Wii U!!!
Posted 13 years agoSorry for all the silence lately. I've not been in the best of spirits. there was also the visit from my brother. It was good to see him.
Right now, I'm getting ready to survive another Black Friday in retail sales. The best thing I know to relax is some gaming. My Wii U is serving that purpose very well. Nintendo Land is surprisingly fun. Gonna get Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition soon.
I'm a little behind on the project for Contessa. that's one of the things most impacted by my downtime. Hope to get to cranking on it this weekend.
Anyway, I'm alive, kicking, sketching, and working. ... especially since I'm back at the old job as well. I was offered a raise and they're willing to work with the other job.
Hopefully I'll hear from some of my old friends... It's been quiet lately.

1) Tell you something I learned about you by looking at your FA page for 13 seconds.
2) Tell you a color you remind me of.
3) Tell you my first memory of you.
4) Ask you a question.
5) Tell you something I like about you.
6) Tell you the object that is to the left of me.
7) Dare you to do this yourself in your Journal.
In other news. Wedding on the 27th. Almost here...
I'm so proud of my little bro.

Really need to put this game down...
Posted 13 years agoBorderlands 2 has been consuming my life... up until Gaige came out anyway. I got her for free as a bonus for preordering.
... and now the game that was running silky smooth on my PC... doesn't. The game drags HARD in places where it used to run beautifully. Not just with the mechromancer, but with all characters. Been tweaking options and I had to cut the detail and overall size down quite a bit to make it play ... decently, but not at the wonderful high res and lovely detail that it did.
I'm on the last mission (I think) with the Siren, and I've played a bit with Gaige to get a feel for her. Deathtrap is quite possibly the best AI partner I have EVER had. Sure, some forum members seem to call him over powered, but I think that's because they have all the badass buffs on. Turn them off and the game gets hard again. Another reason to account for how easy the game seems is that they've likely been through it at least once and know all the shit that's gonna happen. Rule of thumb. Send DT first. Let him draw enemy fire (he's tough), and pick off the most dangerous ones first.
Hopefully the patch that was released will fix the issue... It's driving me crazy.

Been absurdly quiet
Posted 13 years agoSorry about it all. I just haven't been exactly happy with things. I didn't want to add any more gloom and despair, so I just shut my trap. Figured that I'd let everyone know that I am still very much alive though. Still open for commissions as well if anyone wants something.
Right now, I'm installing Borderlands 2. It's already hit my first and biggest pet peeve when it comes to games.
DON'T MAKE ME INSTALL SHIT I WON'T EVER USE!
To install the game, I have to install and log into steam. I have no intention of EVER using the multiplayer, so this irks me and a half. (For those who don't know, I don't play well with others. Depending on the game I'm either a total n00b or too fast to keep up with. My connection also beyond sucks for multiplayer.)
I'm sure Steam is a great client for people who can and are willing to use it. I don't fucking want it, but I have to have it or I can't play the game. Really fucking bright developers.
Pardon my language above. I'm more than a little grumpy.
Other matters, still working on the project for Contessa. Posting Sheila in a little bit. Going to finish this install and getting the preorder DLC first.

Commissions re open Monday!
Posted 13 years agoI've shelved as long as I feel I can. My hands are still a little shakey, but I still can and still wish to draw. Expect a fresh journal Monday afternoon and maybe some more of Tora screaming at ALL of you.
I'm sad, ripped apart, and even lonely. That doesn't matter though. I have to refocus myself and keep going. Nothing short of my own demise will stop me from trying.

Shelving for now
Posted 13 years agoToday has not been good to me. A family member died this morning and it's left me unable to muster even the will to pick up my pencils. Combined with the lack of business I've been getting... I'm going to close commissions for now.
I'll open them again as soon as I'm able to hold my pencils without trembling.

Commissions still open
Posted 13 years agoJust a reminder to all of my watchers that I am still open for commissions. I've expanded to four slots and am accepting new payment methods all the time. Setting up Dwolla right now.
I've got a big expense coming up and I need to raise some money for it. My younger cat, Bella, needs to spend some quality time with the vet. Even if you can't or don't feel like commissioning me right now, feel free to spread the word and tell a friend.

Payment methods
Posted 13 years agoTo try to please everyone all the time is a sure path to failure, but to only please a small selection doesn't do much good for success either.
Accepted methods:
Paypal - Primary, but with extreme caution. (only listed because I already have it)
Dwolla - An alternate for any US customers with bank accounts. Fees are TINY compared to PayPal. International use planned, but not ready yet. (Would prefer this method over PayPal.)
Certified check/Money Order - Will have to be mailed to me, but acceptable. Work will begin once it comes to my mailbox.
Personal check - Will have to be mailed to me and then clear my bank before I begin work.
Concealed cash - Though I'm listing it as an option, I highly suggest against it and while making arrangements for payment, I will strongly urge for another way. Though cash would be faster than the check or money order, it has a tendency to vanish in the postal system.
Rejected methods:
Payza/Alertpay - Similar to PayPal in that they do not allow their service to be used for adult material.
Square - Similar to PayPal in that they do not allow their service to be used for adult material.
Paysafecard - Used to pay for online services/games primarily. No convenient way for me to get my funds where I really need them, like paying bills.
Also, I've updated some of my commission information and price list. Have a read and remember that I can't answer questions if you don't ask. Note or comment here.
Among the updates is an expansion to 4 slots.

Glimmer of hope for commissions
Posted 13 years agoPayPal has been a necessary evil, one I hope to someday be rid of, but after doing some research into other payment processing entities, I think I've found one that I'll be able to use.
http://www.dwolla.com
It's relatively simple and the TOS doesn't bite artists (especially adult and furry) in the ass. It also isn't filled to the gills with difficult to read legalese. The transaction fees aren't half bad either. Free for anything under $10 and just $.25 for more.
Only two drawbacks though. First, Dwolla requires a US based bank account. It will work for me, but not for anyone outside of the US at this time. Second, it requires a bank account. No cards of any type.
I'm putting this one at the top of my list of possible replacements for PayPal but I'm going to continue searching for other options to accommodate as many worldwide as I can.
Other services I've looked into:
Alertpay/Payza - Same problem as PayPal
Square - Same problem as PayPal
Paysafecard - Great for paying for things online, especially games through steam, but worthless for me. Too much in the real world to deal with first.
Other options:
Check - Will work, but it would take a while to make sure it clears with my bank. Also requires very high trust between myself and customers.
Money order - Faster and safer than check, but costs the commissioner more.
Concealed cash - Dangerous, but acceptable as a VERY last resort.
My question to my watchers, and hopefully commissioners... Do you believe it is worth it to set up a Dwolla account to send and receive payments?

Router went BUZZZAP!
Posted 13 years agoMy wireless router died a few hours ago. The power surges around here have been getting brutal. Even on a surge protector, the old router got blasted into completely losing it's configuration memory and the ability to access the admin panel at all. The wireless portion also stopped working. The only thing that did still work was it's passive switching.
Needless to say, I had to get a replacement. Thankfully the Wireless N routers still support all the way back to 802.11B, like my DS uses.
I don't believe that I will ever buy another Belkin. I HATE installing a program to use a piece of networking equipment that DOESN'T NEED IT. The router I installed today... it gives you no choice in the matter. Either install the almost completely pointless software, or the router won't even try to connect to your main internet connection. I know it's pretty much me complaining, but if it had run like the stuff I'm used to, I could have MANUALLY configured it in half the time it took for the program to do it.
Almost as fun with this device... I set it up with my father's computer... and it's keyboard is ... iffy. I should have waited and set up the password on my machine. Now I'm pretty much locked out unless I can guess which keys didn't work.
I'll fix it tomorrow. I'm tired of messing with it for tonight.
*edit*
The added expense was not a happy one for me either. I hate beating it into people's heads, but I am open for commissions. Check out the link below or note me if you have any questions.

My musings on a review *spoilers ahead*
Posted 13 years agoI'll say it again, there are spoilers ahead. If you don't want anything ruined about the anime Cat Planet Cuties (Asobi ni Ikuyo!) then turn back now.
Still with me? Don't say I didn't warn you. This is the last chance to turn back and go watch the anime first.
Ok, now that the all important spoiler warnings are out of the way, let's get down to business. I enjoy anime, perhaps more than I should. One of the ones I've enjoyed the most recently is Cat Plantet Cuties or Asobi ni Ikuyo! (rough translation: I'm going to drop in!). Often after watching a series, I'll check out the reviews and see what other's thought. Often it lets me look at it in another light and think about other perspectives.
Then I read the one for Cat Planet Cuties and couldn't help but wonder if the reviewer really even thought beyond what was literally right in front of his face.
Here's where things will get very spoilertastic. Through the series, it builds as several 'harem' situations do and presents the lead male with a multiple options who are literally fighting for his affections. I will agree with the reviewer that it is very believable in their buildup. From there though, the thoughts split dramatically. In the last episode, the alien cat-girl (Eris) drops the bombshell that multiple mates isn't uncommon where she comes from. Raise your hand if you see that as a standard cop out and nothing more could be behind it.
... *waits*.... *kitchen timer ding*
Ok, for those who raised your hands, you agreed with the reviews I read. I know you couldn't see it for real, but my hand didn't raise.
Want to know how I could be thinking so differently? Do you think I'm such a geek/nerd/nekomimi fetishist that I want to see more than what's there?
While there may be some truth to the last one, I've actually worked hard to look at it from a neutral perspective and not let the inclusion of many feline traits cloud my judgement. While forming my opinion, I had a small revelation hit. Everyone who has a copy handy, watch the series again and tell me just how many male Catians you see. This should be very easy, and I'll even let you count the human (Kio) who was turned into one. Now, try your best to get an accurate count of the females. Anyone else see a HUGE disproportion in gender? Almost biologically impossible, isn't it? At least for a monogamous society. In a polygamous society, a population could be sustained by very few males. It's still not an easily believable ratio, but at the same time, the truth is often stranger than fiction.
Not seeming like such a cop out any more, now is it? Still a tad overly convenient, but not so bad.
But wait, there's more. Through the series, the two other humans (Aoi and Manami) both are nuts about Kio, and it doesn't take alien tech for everyone to know it. The two frequently fight with each other about trying to beat Eris to getting him as a boyfriend (or more). For those paying attention, Eris seems confused by these fights, often finding it almost amusing. Even when Manami (finally) blows up in Eris' face, the catgirl is almost completely unphased. There's a little sadness in her eyes for a second as she's feeling some empathy for the other girls, but then she drops her bombshell with a very happy smile.
Again, it looks like a cop out. Now think back to point A above and try to look at things from her perspective. She grew up on a planet where multiple mates was quite frequent and naturally wouldn't think anything of it, even though the others look confused as hell.
It probably looks like I'm trying to find something that isn't there and support what some believe to be a very flimsy way to avoid a final choice. Frankly, I don't care. I just call it as I see it, and I see something that is far more than what the other reviewer seems to have seen.
My entire point, just because you've seen something like it done before, that doesn't mean that it has the same weak reasoning. Sometimes many paths can lead to the same end decision and they might have even better reasons than you think. You just have to be willing to use the most powerful analytical tool ever developed. Your brain.
Ok, I feel better getting all that off my chest. Now off to get some more of the calendar project finished. Lots more porn to draw before the year ends.
BTW, I'm still open for commissions.

I've been thinking...
Posted 13 years agoWhy have we been letting payment services like Paypal jerk us around? Or how about AlertPay/Payza? None of these systems were really built for the way artists tend to use them. Will we always just 'make do' with what others make and use?
Why hasn't someone decided to build a service for artists that will work with them? Not just furs, or even adult artists, but everyone who creates art. One that will make payment and getting paid simple, easy and far less stressful. Maybe build it to integrate with websites of artists as well to make commission payment that much easier.
Anyone else see where I'd like to go with this? From what I've seen in the community, there are a great many creative, and some downright innovative people around.
I'm a dreamer. I can spin ideas all day long, but I sadly lack the ability to do this one alone. I need help. If anyone thinks they can assist in trying to build this dream, then please contact me. If not, you can still help. Spread the idea. Greater things have been built from the spark of a dream. Let's see just how far this can go.
