In other news, I've gotten into Magic recently! I play with my bf and on the Duel of the Planeswalkers iPad app, it's loads of fun. Really takes me back to my younger days of collecting and playing the Pokemon TCG. We're going to try and get another friend into it too, hopefully it takes. >D When I have some time over the next week I'm probably gonna go mock up some custom cards hahaha.

An update on my internet situation - we won't be able to get it installed until the 31st. (this makes me so mad. ugh.) I'm still accessing the net mostly by piggybacking my laptop on my phone's 3G, and there's only 250mb of data usage left on that. So... may be a little scarcer than usual. Still checking email and twitter often though.

Moving to a new place tomorrow, may be a while before we can get internet set up.

Well I took a much needed break from this site and commissions, and I think now is a good time to come back. Apologies to those who might have thought I did something to myself, especially considering the subject matter of my last few submissions.

I have a few things to clear off the current commission list from last time, but in the meantime I am going to be slowly working on those and taking on some new material. I haven't stopped working on art the whole time I've been gone, so with any luck that improvement will translate well into the furry genre as well. (been drawing mostly humans so yeah)

In the meantime, here is a brief summary of my stupid life for the last two months:
- stressing over assignment deadlines
- stressing over internship interviews (still dunno if I made it)
- stressing over assignment results
- went on holiday to my home country and bought a buttload of stuff
- stressing over rent
- stressing over moving to a new place in two weeks
So I guess in summary, not much has changed, haha.

Anyway, I hope everyone has had a good and safe holiday so far. It's 2012 in about two days! Looking forward to the new year?

So I've had a really hectic and awesome past few days. Combination of uni starting up again, and joining - or rather, starting - an awesome RP circle on Tumblr. I'll save you from hearing me ramble about it, but it is loads of fun, and the most fun I've had on the internet since we played WoW hardcore three years ago.

Anyway, yeah. I've been so super distracted by that RP lately that I've almost wholly ignored FA/FAF and even twitter. orz Worry not though, I have definitely been drawing during that time... just not furry stuff.
But everyone is asleep now and I have some time over the weekend + Monday, so I'll try and pump out commissions. YEAH, WORK!

Also, I've recently discovered the amazing thing that is Iain Glen's (Jorah Mormont in GoT) singing voice. I have to admit I just like imagining Jorah sing "if I could only fly" to Dany. lol
He also sings about fixing lawnmower motors and leaf blowers. I just cannot even

You find out that classes start one week later than you were expecting.

...except that I found out by going to school and wondering why the fuck no one was there. Guh.

I ended up purging more of my gallery than I expected. Submission count dropped from 1100+ to under 200, huzzah. I hope everyone had enough time to save everything they needed.

Welp, crunch time is now over, and I have two months of glorious nothing ahead of me. This means more drawing - all day every day! Whoo.

I'm considering doing a special "Tora TV" type stream once a week or so - it'll have contests for free art and such. Mostly it'll involve "what music am I listening to" because I'm not very creative. Would anyone come watch? I mean, free art right. :V

Also, once I clear up my current commission queue, I may have a winter/summer holiday sale on everything. Yes you heard me right - everything! I'll also be adding new items such as paintings, and making a backup pricelist on an external site in the event of FA whitescreens. Prepare your wallets. ;)

On a non art/personal note, who's been watching E3? I'm excited by what's been shown so far, namely more Skyrim gameplay, Halo 4, Battlefield 3, SW:TOR cinematic (HOW AWESOME WAS THE GUNSLINGER), AC: Revelations, Overstrike, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3, to say the least.

Ubisoft have had a great track record of picking awesome music to sync to AC trailers, and this one is no exception. The cinematic is AMAZING to say the least, and incredibly emotional, I just can't even. T_T

I only replaced the tower - since that was the only thing that died - so my peripherals are still the same dusty old things.

Windows 7 was a bit of a pain to get used to - I still miss the XP save file dialogs, tbh - but on the whole it seems to be much shinier and faster than XP. It took me a while to get all my programs up and running again, it was really annoying since I was upgrading from a 32 to 64 bit system, so that meant having to reinstall everything. Especially all my Steam games, oh god. (so this means I've downloaded Borderlands a grand total of 2 and a half times. jeez.)

Anyway, I really do have to apologise - once again - for the lack of progress on commissions. >< I have two weeks before all my assignments are due, so if I have time I'll try to get some work done. The work for my animation assignment may be of some interest to the furry crowd here, so I may post the rough pass for that in a bit.

Welp, my computer is dead. I'm thinking it's a problem with the motherboard, when I turn it on there's the usual "beep" sound but the monitor and keyboard aren't powering up. It seems a bit sudden, considering it was perfectly fine last night. :|

But at the same time rather fortuitous, as I was considering upgrading soon anyway. I'll have to replace the whole tower because for some reason everything inside my dead one is soldered together, so the only things I'm able to salvage are the hard drive and the RAM. I've called my dad up and with any luck I'll have a good replacement by tonight. (I'm paying half myself, of course)

*sigh* But a dead computer on TODAY - of all days - means I can't work on my homework at all. UGH! I can get started on new commissions - ie.  ryan-wolf's and  angelleifang's - as I haven't got anything on them yet and can start them completely on my bf's computer, but those that have existing progress I won't be able to work on until I have a new computer.

I'll have to send an email to my animation lecturer explaining the situation... with any luck I can get out of tomorrow's class hahaha

I decided to go with  McCormig's character. Thanks everyone for submitting your character, I'm sorry I couldn't do more with them! I'll be doing some practice sketches and storyboards over the course of the week, so keep an eye out for that. Some of the less refined stuff is probably going on my tumblr.

Here's the deal - for my second 2d animation assignment I'm planning on animating a traditional samurai showdown type scene. The winning character will be Inu from my comic  zodiacbattle, but I don't necessarily want to create yet another character just for this assignment only to ignore him after it's done. (poor Kitan from last year's animation assignment) Anyway, I decided to open the floor to my lovely watchers if they are so inclined.

Please keep in mind that if my lecturer asks me to scrap the idea, or I decide to do something else, this might not happen at all and is completely up to my discretion. You'll be getting this for free after all, so no complaining. :P

PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR CHARACTER!!!
1. Needs to be a male character.
2. Needs to be a recognisable animal; that means no hybrids, no unnatural appendages, etc. (wings, tentacles, what have you) Acceptable are cats/big cats, dragons, and dogs. I will consider others as long as they are not a hybrid.
3. Cannot have overly complex markings or absurd colour schemes. Preferably one colour used on the whole body.
4. Cannot be an overly muscular character, feminine or overtly sexual character.
5. I will be dressing this character in a traditional Japanese samurai outfit - ie. gi, haori and hakama - and he will be using a single katana. Clothing references are not needed and I will not take into account what the character wears normally.

Once again I have to apologise for the slow output of art - the next three weeks are uni crunch time. And on top of that I've been seriously reevaluating my art and my style. I've known all along that just drawing furry and/or anime is never going to get me anywhere, and I've been trying to draw and paint differently and do everything I can to break out of it. But so far nothing is really working. Of course this sort of thing doesn't happen overnight, but regardless of that it is still sometimes a little disheartening. And the worst part is that it's caused me to almost completely lose motivation to work on my comic zodiacbattle.

At any rate, if it weren't for my bf and one or two close friends I would probably be either insane or much more depressed. And if anything else is keeping me afloat, it would be fangirling over Game of Thrones. And if anything I would even say that the desire to draw fanart for fantasy series (the two I'm currently into - namely Game of Thrones and Wheel of Time) is spurring me on even more to break out of anime style, because those crowds seem to turn their pretty noses down at "childish" art styles. I have issues with that on principle, and it makes me angry, but at the same time wanting to break out of anime is not that bad of a thing to want after all.

As usual, I tend to post more art on my tumblr here than ever before. I have a shit ton of assignments due this week, namely 2 storyboards, 1 animatic, 2 sets of concept sketches and 1 character turnaround. Only reason I am having to rush this now is purely my own fault. /_\

I'll only be using the net for Twitter/fb and research, maybe check my internet hangouts if I'm having a break or using my phone on the train. I apologise to anyone still waiting on commissions BUT I can't afford to fail another semester. ><

If I have some free time or need a break in between doing work, I will try to work on some commissions. I should have all my work done by Thursday and after that I'll be doing commission work again full throttle.

Whoo! It's been an eventful week, what with the running up and down and excessive (in my book) socializing, I think that's got me covered for a month. @_@

To sum it up:
- Chinese New Year family gathering
- running around with bf's sister and her friend from out of town
- Furry art jam (bi-weekly, so I'll be at the next one too most likely)
- another CNY dinner

Yeah, I'm bushed. I see FA will be down for a few hours on Saturday, so hopefully I'll be able to get all commission sketches confirmed by then.

I'm currently at my bf's parents' place visiting before Uni term starts again, in case anyone has been wondering where the fuck their art is. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon, hopefully without further social interruption from people who suddenly want my company.
