Ive noticed more and more as time goes on that for some reason many artists seem to despise hooves beyond a very small size.

This isnt calling out any one artist, this seems like an almost industry wide thing. The number of artists I have encountered who will draw anything beyond showpony sized hooved seems to be in the minority (and they have my deepest gratitude). Requests for larger hooves takes multiple tries and often if the art has multiple revisions theyll shrink back down again.

And the thing that drives me up the wall is... 'Why?'

I cannot fathom a reason for it. Maybe I am the loony expecting draft horse sized broad hooves on a draft horse sized anthro, but it seems like with all the insane customization going on with so many characters that a rather plain overbeefy horse asking for matching hooves would be... Kind of an easy thing? Then again I am no artist. Maybe hooves are incredably hard to draw, i wouldnt know.

This all hallows eve might not be the same as we are used to, but you should still do a thing to mark the occaision. Buy some candy and hand it out to friends. Watch some cheesy horror movies. Make a campfire (or fake one) and tell ghost stories with friends. Anything!

Might make a fun premise. I am in the middle of a long project atm so cant make good use of the idea.

Its just that I don't do the work on those. The artist did all the work, I just threw money at them. I really appreciate the faves I do, but since its not my work I generally don't send a thanks for the faves on those the way I do when the fave is on my writing.

Comments of course are another story, and a more complicated one, but that's the jist

I get lotta faves on the art I get, and don't want folks to think I'm just flipping them the bird. I just feel like they aren't MY faves to say thank you for. Much the same way saying thank you when someone in a restaurant says 'this food is great' is kinda weird when all you did was buy the food.

I might try to get this in the future but wanted to share the idea in case someone else liked it and wanted to run with it.

For those that don't know, there is a minor divide in the equine furs (and most hoofed furs) between hooves and 'feet'. As in humanoid feet.

This is not a huge point of contention, its a notable preference for most and that's about it, which makes it a nice target for a little fun poking.

Sorta thinking of someday getting Totus in Imperium of Man Space Marine armor marked up for hooves (maybe stylize ultramarine armor so the omega looks more like a hoof) and another horse with feet in Chaos Marine armor, facing off, ready to go boltor on each other and glaring and what not.

Because it made me smirk and seems both funny and cool looking.

Naturally this works for most beefy horses and such

Its happened a few times so far. A fur is nice and fun and we become buds...

But our primary characters/fursonas? ...Mmmm not so much?

Okay so they buddy buddy up too, but sometimes it seems obvious that within their canons they'd not really be friendly, might immediately be at odds, or even at eachother's throats. Obviously one doesn't dissolve a friendship over something like that, so you just....

What.

There seems a few options but I'm curious what some folks see as the best. For me, Totus and the friend's characters step partially out of canon to snuggle or fuck or build worlds together.

Obviously this might not impact those who have 'hard fursonas'. By which I mean people who's fursonas are literally themselves but fuzzier or scalier. Nothing wrong with that, and some of those folks are a lot of fun too, but this probably wouldn't affect them much.

I have had no less than 6 'Hope I am not bugging you' conversations that went on for over ten minutes in the past week. And each time the person (There's more than one) managed to be incredibly annoying ONLY when going on and on about 'hoping they weren't being annoying'.

This goes along with a peeve I picked up a couple years back of people approaching me online and doing the usual 'How are you? Good and you? Good.' exchange and then going silent or having no other purpose of contact other than to swap 'Good's. I hate that, but even more I hate having to repeat 'No you are fine' over and over and OVER again to someone who seems determined to BE extremely annoying just to confirm they are NOT annoying.

The worst part is that they generally are NOT annoying until they start this! Its like cutting a hole in the bottom of the boat to let the water out of your not-at-all-sinking boat. They are literally causing the problem they are afraid of to exist, when it did not exist beforehand!

I am also not sure why this happens, as I've brought this up a few times as well. The only reaction this causes is a sullen 'so I am being annoying' which devolves into another few rounds of 'no you're fine'. Because if I say 'No you are fine, BUT...' then they go all sullen and 'So I am being annoying' again. Its like a damn computerized loop!

So that's my rant for the month.

TL;DR for those who don't want to click on things, it comes down to "Google proclaimeth thou shalt not publish nor distribute smut."

So this leaves me and a lot of other artists in a very dangerous position right now.

For now, I'm going to be scouring my own G-drive and G-photos to get rid of any condemning contraband that could see me deleted also. Some people theorise some bot is going around looking at contents, even if it's hidden away on a private drive only the user can access. And we all know how 'reliable' algorithimic bots are.

Call it paranoia, but I'm only going to be leaving the blandest safest photos and things - you know, the kind of stuff that wouldn't look out of place in a commercial on the Hallmark Channel or itv or whatever.

Secondly, if I open up commissions again, I'm going to have to use an alternate method - no more Google forms attached to my email address. I've been in this commission gig for over 14 years, on and off (going full-time back in 2015) and I'd loathe to lose this career. Jeez, why is it getting harder to make an honest living these days...???

How long did you real writers and artists take before you mellowed out on such things?

Since 'uploading' cum memes are a thing atm. Had an idea of junk DNA being used to transmit data via cum. And the world creates bio-data sinks... hypers! They literally are paid to splooge femtobytes of seedata into sci fi world computer data banks each day to refresh the data.

Naturally, the quality of cum and volume, and sperm count, are of crucial importance in these biodata life forms. Who likely have pretty fun lives since they are worth an entire building of drives and can upload so much data from place to place in seconds.

And hackers would have a new skill set, seducing these data hunks for a hard fucking so they can empty their cumflated bellies and get server data. One good evening and a good dinner and bam, you have a few usable terabytes of data, and a few more petabytes of semi-useful/corrupted/contaminated data you might be able to clean up and use.

I share this idea because while I might try to write this sorta thing out, this sounds like a fun 'entire fur race' concept and I don't have time to properly plan or process that. So figured I'd toss this to the ether to see if someone else has the time and talent to turn it into more stuff.

Sloppy v cleancut is less simple than it might seem, sloppy is the more fun meaning, slutty, ignoring social norms on lewdness (what's a bed? We have a tree in the park!) poly-everything, dressing to 'impress' in lewd ways, if dressed at all

Most of you are pretty internet savy but for those of you who are not this is a pretty old scam format and has every bit of the smell of an auto mailer setup of some kind.

Iunno much about internet security stuff but I know how to spot BS pretty well. The account name doesn't really matter, none of these types would ever be shackled to 1 single name. So don't look for a 'name' or 'number' contacting you with this stuff. Look at the content of the message and the account in question.

As I have mentioned to the handful of fans that give me pity watches (thank you!!!) In my stories from time to time, most of my stories are intended as writing practice. I have learned some neat things along the way, but going forward I am gonna be having some almost/entirely nonlewd stories and writing exercises. I am aware this site's mainly for lewd things, so this is a bit of a heads up. Planning a few shorts about kids from around the globe of varying species, a few war/combat scenes, and more as I go along.

These will probably be featured in the Totus verse as a way to flesh out his world in my own head too.

Hopefully, some of these will still be fun, but I am aware they won't get the love the lewd ones have, and that's fine. Just wanted to have that as a heads up.

I knew it was from the start, but yeah, Totus' home world is taking ages. I finally got a rough sketch of the planetary map, oceans, continents, major mountain chains, islands, got an idea of where the arctic circle will start, did my best to base the bigger mountain chains on plate tectonics and make the biomes somewhat vaguelly plausible, desert caused by rain shadow, rain forests nearer the equator, etc etc

I got a few of the nations ready in a 'rough strokes' kinda way. Basically their identity to the rest of the world and a rough few sentences about their economy, military, and any particularly wonky customs. Like how Australia is known for dangerous wildlife and being generally cool folks, or how us USA folks are known for frying everything we get our hands on. (for the record, most of us draw the line before fried butter sticks)

And that's just the background of the story's... 'main environment' I suppose. still in rough strokes but have the city/region of the first arc or two planned out a lil bit

That said, if anyone wants to show off how awesome they are at world-building by advice or ideas, I would appreciate any advice deeply.

So far I'm sorta being lazy and building the main cast backgrounds first, then building out the places they have in their backgrounds, then the places that border them.... if I'm lucky I won't need much detail beyond that 'level' of depth

Just a random thing that came to mind. I try to respond to faves unless someone has either favorites hidden or a note in their profile about not doing that.

However, I ALSO tend not to respond to faves on commission things.

The reason there is that I don't feel wholly responsible for the creation in question and while accepting faves is fine in my mind, responding to them feels like taking too much credit. I tend to put the other person's profile link in the description then so that folks can go fave it THERE and tell them what an amazing job they did or character they have etc.

NOte, sometimes I don't respond to faves just cause I missed you, and I am sorry if that made ya feel left out, promise it wasn't like that, I'm just a scatterbrained doof

After my recent commission, I had over a dozen people in a week asking questions about my horse and his religion.

I've had more since then but that was the busiest week.

As a result, I've decided to write a fun lil TV interview story both for writing practice outside my comfort zone and to answer some questions and if anyone wants to suggest questions for a normal mortal of a world recently conquered by the horse to ask him now that she, and her planet, are under his rule...

Feel free to ask here! I won't promise all questions will get in, Some might not flow right, some might not really fit the mood of a TV interview, and some I just might not have a good answer for. Though I might answer some of those questions in the journal if they don't get into the story.

Anywho, just put 'Hey hoss god!' at the start of a comment, then ask the question(s)

Try not to laundry list the questions though, just a couple, maybe three.

I love explaining the logic and ideas behind something, and spotting glaring flaws in my logic is a great way to help me improve as a writer.

Some writers can get a lil defensive about such things, and hey that's fine! You feel a need to protect your work, and I can respect that.

Someone just tossing insults would get a reaction like that from me, but if ya got a genuine question or comment I'm always happy to see em.

Though I will state, often times there is logic behind a strange decision or idea of a character in a story of mine that is not outright stated in the story. However, I am generally happy to explain that logic too.

And if I can't explain it and there's no good reason for it, Well that's a spot I need to improve next time

(Note, 'Seed missionary' is cringe-inducing and has numerous issues I am aware of, so maybe skip that one, I only leave it up as a reminder to myself I thought that shit was great when I put it out, so I need to improve keep improving. All other submissions are fair game.)

Still getting my footing with short stories and blurbs, and I've come across a question. Upload style. Never even considered that side of things.

So far been writing it in .rtf cause that's an incredibly common and widely used format, I can't recall a computer I've owned that couldn't use that since I was a teenager.

Should I be tossing the stories into the descriptions the way some folks do? What about when I start writing longer stories? Will they fit into the description? Or will I have to just say 'long chapter inquire within?

To the real authors on this site, I am just now starting to realize how much of this crap I have nnooooo idea about.

Oh well, I'ma hoss at heart, we bumble and thump and snuffle around till we figure it out... or break irt.. or eat it.... one way or another the problem is sorted.
