Hey, FA Staff,
Posted 2 months agoIs it okay to say "gay men who don't want to see breasts while browsing for pornography are transphobic/misogynistic"?
Well, you seem to think so.
I reported a couple of times I found people saying this, or the equivalent, for being homophobic (because, well, sweeping statements like about gay men are). You told me to block and report them.
I understand. I can't expect staff to read every comment...on site update announcements, with multiple staff members comments timestamped after said comments were reported, including similar comments on the current site update announcement, which went up after you were told, by me, that they were homophobic.
Okay, well, it's your site. I'm just curious to know what homophobia is acceptable and what isn't. I mean, it is Pride Month and all. I figure everyone else might want to know, too.
PS If you're going to copy-paste the same reply to trouble tickets, maybe don't slip up and claim people have taken actions when they haven't. Makes you look kind of stupid, and we wouldn't want that, would we?

Please Stop
Posted 5 years agoI am not now, nor will I ever be, "coming back". Whether my account is active or not, I have no interest in writing another story/game/anything for this "community" ever again, nor in communicating with anyone outside of commissioning. Please stop asking
blueballs about what happened to me, and stop sending messages to me welcoming me back.

Bleh
Posted 5 years agoI'm only complaining here because what usually happens is that fate decides to make me look like an idiot and make what I say in one of these journals untrue five minutes after I've written it. I figure I might as well get ahead of things this time.
I haven't done a lot of writing this last 2-3 weeks. Work is in that annoying position where I have a lot to do, but I don't have what I need to do it until right at the last minute. Very "feast or famine". On top of that, well, let's just say there is a non-zero chance of an event happening that *stops* this being a problem, and if that happens I may open up for commissions again. Or just get really buff, I dunno.
There's also less negative reasons why my output is going to be less than normal, but I'm not going to jinx that talking about it right now.

Not Much Of A Hiatus, Really: Code scraps, etc.
Posted 5 years agoSo I've been posting stories; I had a small backlog but they're all gone now.
I post some stories in PDF format: there's my novels (which I'm only going to put out as PDFs), and some of my newer ones. I do that because it keeps the formatting the way I have it while allowing (some) people to open the files in their browser. If you want those in Rich Text Format, you can find them here.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1H.....Q1VJk1_yKsXAym
Also, I made a git repo for some Python scripts I find useful. I'm still (slowly) working on generalising parts of it, but the "sort by FA artist" script is done and it's now available (for people who know what they're getting into).

Furry Nonsense: Code I find helpful
Posted 5 years agoSince I didn't feel like writing or working on the game this week, I ended up making some Python scripts to make a couple of things easier to do:
* Create the text for new submission thumbnails automatically.
* Find duplicate (or near-duplicate) images, and move them into separate directories for inspection and deletion.
Eventually I hope to come up with a few more interesting things with the code, such as:
* Sorting downloads from FA into directories based on artist.
* Tag extraction from stories: probably using a mix of natural language processing and other machine learning stuff.
* Something similar for images: mostly to get the artist, medium (drawing/painting/photo), and species, for organisational purposes.
I'm not sure if anyone else would find this useful, but I can create a Git repository if that will be of any use.

2020: What To Expect
Posted 5 years agoEarly in 2020 I expect to be releasing:
* The Strange Touch, an Alakazam novel. Mostly done, just cover art + map.
* The Junkyard, a thank you/Christmas gift for
sirrob.
I will then be working on the following. I won't give time estimates but I will give rough page length, and I also tend to work on multiple projects at once.
* Night of the Hunt 2-4 (~10-11 pages each).
* Addiction Trilogy 2-3 (2 will be ~10-20 pages; 3 will be ~50 pages).
* Underground Tales 7-10 (~55 pages each).
* Bad Egg, a story for
blueballs (~100 pages).
* Moo Year’s Resolutions, the gym bull novel I've been wanting to write. (~200 pages)
That works out to ~12 pages/week, which is a manageable minimum for me (writing ~6 pages/day over the weekend).
* The Interview, a very simple Twine game that I will hopefully be able to update once per month over the year. I'll have to see what the equivalent workload is, but think of it as a ~30 page story per month (working ~1 page/day).
This might not be all I write, and some might not come out in 2020, but this is the rough plan .
[EDIT] If you want any text versions for any of my stories (rather than PDFs) you can find the short ones here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1H.....Q1VJk1_yKsXAym

Happy Howlidays
Posted 5 years agoI'll show myself out for that, after I let you all know that I'm going to be posting a bunch of stuff over the next week or so, starting with that novel I've been threatening you all with, which has just come out today.
General Update
Posted 6 years agoI'll have a couple of novels coming out soon.
* The Bargain will be released properly close to Christmas; I got a cover as an early Christmas gift from
blueballs, and I just finished formatting it. I'll hopefully have a couple of other shorter stories done by then too.
* There will be an Alakazam novel sometime early 2020s as well by the latest; I might also have the writing done over Christmas, I'll probably get Blueballs to make another cover (which will be a lot simpler than that of the bargain).
Both of these will be free: they're already "out" in a sense, and I don't want to worry about taxes on them, etc. I might charge for future novels, but I'm still undecided. I'm aiming to do roughly one a year, but I don't know if that will work out with my new job. Guess we'll see.

The Road Ahead Updated
Posted 6 years agoTL;DR After Adventure 2 in The Wizard's Tower and the Bargain, I'm done for the foreseeable future, and I won't be here as much.
The principal reason is that I want to write a novel. I want to write to explore ideas and feelings that don't really suit this site or this account very well. Lately, I've been thinking about it more and more, and it's becoming bothersome: I need to write it, and I need to write it now.
The secondary reason is, well, being around here and talking to people in the community gives me the same feelings I get when I'm at work: frustration and disappointment, with others and myself. At least at work, I get paid to get migraines.
Just like work, there are a few people that I want to keep up with, but that's probably going to be the extent of my efforts here.

The Road Ahead
Posted 6 years agoJust a quick update on what things are looking like for the next while:
This weekend:
* Underground Tales Reboot 4
Next weekend:
* Adventure 2 of The Wizard's Tower begins.
In a fortnight:
* Send The Bargain out to a few people to proofread; that'll get published (maybe with a pay-what-you-want thing, I don't know) sometime after that, when I've made corrections/small changes and have a cover for it.
Next month (and beyond):
* Underground Tales Reboot 5-10
* The Worn Fandom (a sci-fi-themed voting story, which I'll alternate with The Wizard's Tower)
* The Addiction 2-4: Moo Year's Resolutions, Allure of the Donkey Cock and Sex Machine
Late July:
* Secret Untitled Story
Mid-October:
* Locker Room Dogs 4 v3 (the final update)
Christmas:
* Wizard's Wood

Story delay
Posted 6 years agoI've been having some health and housing problems lately, so haven't felt much like writing.
I probably would have done some stuff on The Wizard's Tower, but that won't get worked on until SoFurry is up so I can count the votes there.

Locker Room Dogs v2.1 released, Miscellaneous Other News
Posted 6 years agoFixed a bug that stopped people accessing the Hunter content once you got all of the endings.
Added in a list of the endings that you've gotten for that session.
Added in some "random choice" options as well (mostly for myself to help with testing, but I thought it might be fun for some people to have).
In other news, I've updated http://bluesquirrel.org/ to add in all the games that
blueballs and I have made. Let me know if you've got any recommendations on how to improve it.
I'm also at page 200 of The Bargain, for people who have been around a while. I decided to post that up when it's finished, maybe commissioning someone to give it a cover so it'll be like a real book.

PDF Story Collections
Posted 6 years agoI've been thinking about collecting multi-entry stories into a single PDF and posting them.
How many people would be interested in this, and are there any other things that might be good to have with these?

I'm not procrastinating on Locker Room Dogs, you are!
Posted 6 years agoNew version should be out for Valentine's Day (for some people anyway).
Year's (and Wit's) End
Posted 7 years agoI'm not going to be working on anything for the rest of the month.
I'm also most likely not going to be reading comments/pms any more, or talking to people outside of a few places where I talk to people now when I'm around.

November Update
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone!
Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to play the two games I put out recently. I really don't have the time to individually thank people for favourites, but just know that your names and likes are going into the spreadsheet I use to keep track of anything related to my stories.
I managed to finish most of the projections I mentioned in my last update (even if they got delayed from sickness). I'm going to be busy with work stuff and Christmas prep for a while, but I've got something that should make writing on the go easier for me, so I'm going to see how that works.
Here's the projects that I'm going to be working on for the next while. I'll try to update this journal with how projects are progressing.
- Underground Tales Reboot: [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
-- Just be aware the stories in this series tend to be long.
- Locker Room Dogs v2: ~16 new scenes, fewer choices but more consistency and probably greater detail. Nobody commented much on v1, so if there's anything you'd like to see in the text that's there, please let me know so I can add it to the next release (on the submission page, preferably).
- A more TF (including weird TF) and fetish-y Twine game, currently in the planning stage.
- The Addiction Tetralogy: [1][2][3][4]
-- Carried over from last time since I didn't really put much work into it.

Small Piece of Advice for Artists/Others
Posted 7 years agoIf you've opened a Patreon/offering commissions, please ensure that all of the commission info (example images, prices, etc.) are all easily accessible from any of the places you are advertising, such as on your Patreon page or in your commission journals or whatnot.
This is for your potential customers, but it's just as much for you: the harder the information is to get, the easier it is to lose a sale.

"Unhelpful" Comments
Posted 7 years agoI don't know if this has always been a thing, and I've just tuned it out until now, or if it's an actual recent trend. I've just started to see more of it lately, and it's starting to actively ruin my enjoyment of both writing and consuming content.
Critiquing how something is done is fine: I'm always happy (well, annoyed but at myself) when people point out mistakes I've made.
Critiquing what is done if it improves what's there is also fine: If someone cared enough about my stories to point out where characters were inconsistent, I'd be thrilled.
Having personal opinions on things is fine: Yes, I'm going to complain about Aggretsuko again. I still hate the Netflix show, but I can see it working in something akin to the Working Buddies short sketch format (since that show also has fairly cheap animation outside of the intro/end credit sequences which clearly show they put in effort, something which Aggretsuko lacks) which I think it originally had.
But I put my opinion into my journal, rather than every piece of Haida fanart I came across (that would have been the equivalent of deep-throating a firehose, anyway) because people can make what they want (as long as it's not illegal); I can just leave if it's not something I like, which I do a lot.
I really don't get doing otherwise, but then I hate the idea of bothering anyone (even when I'd be fully justified to) so I end up not leaving comments, even on things I don't like, unless I already know the creator behind it.
Anyway, just chalk this up to another thing I'm confused about.

NEW GAME COMING SOON (~ 1 MONTH): OPEN FOR SPOILER DETAILS
Posted 7 years agoHey, if you like being surprised, please close/ignore this journal and go about your business.
DO NOT READ this journal.
I'm not kidding, BAD NEWS BELOW FOR THEE IF YOU LIKE SURPRISES!
Okay, hopefully eyes are gone.
The next game is Locker Room Dogs.
It's the final entry, taking place (appropriately) in the Locker Room, straight after the events of Locker Room Dogs 4.
The game will have three planned major releases:
V1 will let you choose one of the dog- or cat-men and play through three rounds of solo/paired sex scenes (based on templates, but there's a fair number of templates!). All but two are finished, I've started on one, and just have the character-specific variables to add in.
V2 will include special canonical scenes especially written based on votes from quite a while ago.
V3 will expand on the template sex scenes, allowing you to choose an additional sex partner.
Depending on how I feel and the game's popularity, I might add more releases after this, but this is the minimum that I'll be doing.

Posted 7 years agoFucking Windows, how does it work? Joke's on me from Redmond, I guess.
Seriously, Windows has had its share of problems over the years, but when I'm seriously considering going through the financial pain of getting a Mac, or the hassle of tracking down a laptop that runs Linux fine...
On the plus side, seeing Microsoft beg and plead like a dirty whore to get people to use their other shitty services is one small joy from having to get everything back into working shape.
Anyway, since you bothered to click on here to here me whine about first-world problems, here's what'll be coming out sooner or later:
-New Alakazam story (probably the last one for a while, though he might crop up elsewhere).
-Finishing off the Potions series.
- The start of a new trilogy based on addictions.
-A very sex-heavy game that concludes another series.

Topology by John G. Hocking & Gail S. Young is Cancer
Posted 7 years agoI'm not a mathematics snob, but how the fuck can anyone stand the janky awkward introduction to topology that passes for it in this book? It's unbearably awful to read, and that's not getting into how unbearable I find explaining topologies at first using limit points instead of using the equivalent, but more natural, open sets. The book has all the charm of reading used toilet paper (or something equally awful for people who are into that, I guess).
