Looking to the Future! (Hiatus Announcement)
General | Posted 4 years ago Hello, lovelies! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, huh? I’m actually going through my backlog of commissions right now and realizing there are waaay more than I realized (not my brightest idea, since now I have to sift through a bunch of emails to make sure I credit properly~ >< But it must be done!)
It’s high time I made an announcement about what I’ve been up to, and the future of my artwork on here. As you probably know, I’ve spent the better part of a year applying for fulltime art jobs, and I finally landed one! The work has been strenuous, but such a fun and fulfilling time. I actually started about a month ago, and the time has just flown by!
All of that said, I wanted to announce an extended hiatus. I am certainly not abandoning this account (even though I know it looks like it sometimes ^^;), but it will most likely be several months before I open any commissions again. I might open sketch commissions in the future, too. That said, as always, if you ever want to get in touch and find out more about my schedule and possible availabilities, feel free to shoot me an email!

I'm sure you've guessed already, but I'm going to be going on hiatus for this month and probably August as well. There are a lot of skills for me to brush up on, both to become more hireable, and to produce better work for here as well, so I'll be doing that in the meantime.
I'll be uploading the last two months' backlog of finished commissions! As always, thank you all so much for your support and for just being such joys to make art for!!

Commission slots are gonna remain closed for this month. I’ve contacted everyone on the waitlist, so this next batch of commissions is on its way!
There is one fun update, though:
Starting this batch, I’m going to be offering a long-time commissioner discount! To reward everyone who’s stuck with me this long, and maybe encourage some fun new art relationships to. *v* After your third commission from me, for any further commissions, you’ll be able to choose between a 10% discount or a free alternate version (SFW, nude, messy, etc)!
That said, July is a little up in the air right now. I’m waiting on some work news, and depending on how it goes, I might take the month off to adjust to a busier schedule. I’ll keep you all posted on what ends up happening!!

I'll be using Google Forms for this batch of commissions, in order to keep the slots organized. I'll be taking three slots to start this month, and if time allows, I may open for more! I'll be taking commissions on a first-come first-serve basis. When the slots are filled, I'll update this journal, and then email everyone who submitted to let them know if they've secured a slot, or been added to the waitlist!

Checking in for May! Moving has been pretty time-consuming, but I’m just about settled! I outlined the changes for this month in my last journal, but there are a few updates~

General | Posted 4 years ago Hi, everyone~! Checking in for April!
I had planned to extend my hiatus into April depending on if I found an apartment by then, and lo and behold, I did! I'll be moving about mid-April, and given all the preparations and stress that comes with that, I'll be putting commissions on hold until May.
With that, I'm planning three big updates to how I'll be organizing and finishing commissions from here on out. Of course, this is all experimental and may be subject to change, but I'll quickly update via a journal if anything does change!
1. I will only be taking three slots per month.
I kind of overdid it with the five slots last time - my commissions take me a very long time to finish, and trying to get everything to everyone in a timeframe I was comfortable with ended up being a pretty huge undertaking. It also cut into my other professional SFW work hours, which I'd like to avoid. >~<;;
2. I'll be offering a new type of commission that I will be prioritizing - painted commissions!
I was actually trained as a traditional oil painter (lol) and painting as a whole is simply much faster and more comfortable for me. Since my time is getting much more limited now, I'd like to be able to offer art that can be delivered more quickly and is less of a physical strain on me! I'm currently working on examples, and will make a post detailing this commission type and prices soon, but expect it to cost about as much as my current cel shading prices. If it goes well, I may phase out soft shading altogether, since the painted ones will have a similar effect and I want to keep things fairly simple, haha.
3. I'll be increasing my current cel shading and soft shading prices!
I always feel odd doing this, but my work has been taking more and more hours, and it's getting to the point where the current prices just aren't practical for the amount of time they take. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I hope that you'll stay tuned for the painted option, which will be much closer to the current prices!
Lastly, I wanted to say thank you all so much for sticking with me this long. I know it's been a strange year, and I'm trying to reevaluate my limits as an artist after doing this since 2015. More than anything, though, I love this community and all the people who have been so kind to me for all these years. Even with this small transition period, I still definitely want to continue this work! Thanks again, and best wishes to you all~!

My last batch of commissions for December ended up running a little into January, so I'm planning on counting this commission period for both February and March. My turnaround rate may be a little longer than my usual 3 weeks, depending on the complexity of what is asked of me.
I'll be taking five commission slots, and then creating a waitlist if those fill up! If you end up on the waitlist, you'll have first priority for my next batch! I'm kinda making this all up as I go since my schedule's been a little unpredictable, but as always, contact me via email if you have any questions, or want to check availabilities!

General | Posted 5 years ago Hey everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope joy and success reaches all of you this year~
My new year’s resolution is to post monthly updates on commission availability, so here we are! ^^ This update’s pretty small, though. I’ll be taking January and maybe part of February off in order to really focus on job-hunting! Once I land a more steady paycheck, doing commissions is gonna be a lot easier, so wish me luck!
February’s still a little murky right now, so I’ll update again next month. I still have a few more pieces to upload, though, so expect those!

General | Posted 5 years ago Hi everyone~! I hope you all are having a lovely holiday season, even with all the craziness this year. I know I haven’t been posting regularly, but I actually do have a fairly large backlog of art to upload, so I’ll be doing that over the next few days or so!
I also am checking in to announce some commission changes! Or rather, to make official what I’ve already been doing for the past few months. ^^;; Until further notice, I won’t be doing any more YCH commissions. I’ve been kept pretty busy with email commissions, and I’m going to prioritize those. I may post some YCHs at another time when I’m less busy, but for now, I’m doing non-YCH only!
If anyone is looking to commission me, please email for an estimate! As always, pricing info is available in my commissions tab. ^u^ I’m pretty filled up for this month, but from here on out, I’m gonna try to do monthly journals to announce slot availabilities and any other relevant news.

-Candy Update: Opening Commissions Again! (+another surgery ^^;)

Thanks so much for your patience - I know it's been a little longer than expected since I last checked in. ^^; It's been a little rough with readjusting to actually drawing, and handling recovery-related stress (though it really is all in my head and has actually been going very well, haha) plus just generalized 2020 stress, so I haven't been checking here as much as I should have. I'm so grateful for the kind comments people left on my last journal, though - you all make coming back to FA feel like coming home TuT <333
I have been drawing and it's been going great, all things considered! And that's definitely been improving my mental health a lot, haha. I wanted to announce now that I am opening commissions again! I probably won't be opening any YCHs for a little bit, but non-YCH commissions are now open, so if you're interested, feel free to send a note or email! <3 THAT SAID, I did get my left arm surgery scheduled way ahead of when I expected, so I'm actually getting that done fairly soon (like next week ;o;). However, it is my non-drawing arm, so I think working with it won't be an issue.
I hope you're all doing well even in these crazy times. You all have supported me so much over the years, and I can't thank you all enough. Wishing you all the best, and I can't wait to start posting more! <3

Everything is healing up well! I just had my 2-week check-in yesterday, where I got everything assessed, and my stitches taken out, too. My doctor said, though, that since drawing caused such a strain in the first place, he recommends waiting for another two weeks before starting up again. Currently, I have about... 60% functionality? ^^; Enough to do a little makeup and drive, but not enough to open heavy doors or draw for long periods, LOL
I’ll update you all again after my next appointment (in another 2 weeks)! What I’m anticipating at this point is being okay to start drawing then, but probably spending a week building that strength/confidence back up and also monitoring how well the surgery worked/if anything new comes up. So I’ll be posting another update when I know more, but for now, I’m expecting another 3 weeks until I can open commissions again OTL Thank you all so much for your patience and support, and I hope to be back soon!!

Update - Wrist Surgery (:D)
General | Posted 5 years agoHi all! I’ll keep it brief since I’m typing with one hand - I just got out of my carpal tunnel surgery! It went really well and the doctor says recovery time is really fast.
I’m suspending commissions for now, but I’ll post another journal when I’m back and ready to take on work! Thank you all so so so much for your support on this journey, and I really hope this surgery helps me to get stronger with my art for you all <3 This community really is the best, and I’m so lucky to have you all.

Cel vs. Soft Shading Update

For the past year or so, I’ve been slowly evolving the shading style I use for commissions, YCH and otherwise. It’s gotten more and more rendered, and while I do genuinely love the results, I am realizing that it takes a significantly loooonger time to do. As my arm surgery still isn’t quite on the horizon yet due to the virus, I have to be sure to take extra care while I’m drawing. With this in mind, I’ve come to the decision that I’m going to prioritize cel shading for commissions!
So changes from here on out will be:
-All of my YCHs will be by-default cel shaded. Soft shading will be available upon request, for an extra fee! (+30% of the initial commission price)
-Non-YCH commissions will be available for either option, with a similar markup for soft shading (details in my commission info!)
All YCHs from here on out will be clearly marked as cel shaded by default to avoid any confusion!

As most of you have probably noticed, it's been a very long time since I've had a YCH commission open. The reason for this is, my arm pain that I thought I had finally solved turned out to be a much more chronic issue than I had initially thought. I was actually on the waitlist for elbow and wrist surgery because of it, and all of my commission work had to be planned with the knowledge that anything I would do would have to be finished before my surgery date. As a result, I had to be very careful with the amount of commissions taken.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, my hospital has postponed all elective surgeries, including mine. While I am very saddened by this outcome (because while doing art like this brings me so much joy, it can become very painful if I'm not careful), it does allow me to open commissions back up for the time being. I need the income of course, but I'm also doing it because I miss it and quarantine has everyone bored including me, LOL
And aside from that, how is everyone? You all have been so kind to me over the years, and I love and appreciate every moment I've been able to spend with this community! I hope everyone is able to stay safe and inside as much as possible. Has anyone done anything fun or interesting with their time recently? I'd love to hear about it!

General | Posted 6 years agoHello all and sorry for the radio silence! It's been a busy two months, and all of the excitement finally ended yesterday when I finished packing and moved back home! I'm gonna be job-hunting and working on my work portfolio now, and I'm very happy to be able to come back to FA and do commissions and other furry art to de-stress. Anyway, if you're waiting on commissions, I'm resuming work on them now! I'll be posting some finished commissions soon too~ ^^

GRADUATION!!! And now back to regularly-scheduled art~
General | Posted 6 years ago Hello all, LOOONG time, no see! I'm ecstatic to announce that this past month, I graduated from art school!
I now have a BFA in Animation, which is wild enough to think about, but equally as important, I now have time to begin working on things outside of school. I'll be dedicating a lot of time this summer to posting regularly on here. Of course, I do still have to be careful of my arm injury, but it's healing nicely, and as long as I'm careful and gentle with it, I should be able to draw a fair amount in the upcoming months.
Now that I've graduated, I'm hoping to put my animation knowledge to use in commissions sometime soon, whether it'll be illustrations animated in AfterEffects, or ToonBoom animated gifs/scenes. I can't promise when those will become available (since I still have to play around with the programs more myself), but be on the lookout for it in the future!
Emailing me is still the best way to get in contact with me, but I'll be checking my notes on here more regularly as well.
I hope everyone had a fantastic few months, and I'm so excited to see what this summer will hold!

General | Posted 7 years ago Hello all! Popping in to announce that my finals are officially over for this semester, and I hope to have all pending commissions finished within the next week. Thanks to everyone for their patience!
I also wanted to say that unfortunately due to my school’s workload, I was officially diagnosed with wrist tendonitis this semester. I’ve been regularly attending physical therapy since my diagnosis, and I plan to devote the majority of my break to healing, but I’ll do my best to finish my pending commissions too.

So since I’m tentatively starting up commissions again (and currently in the middle of a batch), I thought it’d be important to lay out my schedule and any other information regarding my workflow:
-I can really only work on commissions on Saturdays and Mondays
-All the other days are focused on schoolwork, so I can’t be producing any other personal work right now :(
-At the end of the day, school does come first, so my commission turnaround is going to be 2-3 weeks instead of my usual 1-2
-I only check FA once a week or so due to trying to cut out any distractions, so if something needs to be addressed quickly, please email me!

My spring semester is starting up tomorrow, but I'm hoping that won't put too much of a strain on my art flow! The way I'm sizing up my classes, as long as it's not during finals and midterms, I'm going to be trying hard to post here on a once a week schedule.

General | Posted 9 years agoHello! Just wanted to give a few updates. I'm almost done with the semester, and once class ends I'm going to be a lot more active on here. I enjoy the atmosphere on here and the work I do on here, so I'm excited for more!
That said, I'm probably going to be pretty scarce for the next three weeks. My apologies if I'm slow to respond, I'm just very busy. I'm going to be taking fewer classes next semester though, for my own health and to be able to work on more of my own art.
