TAsoFA: Collaboration Calls

Monthly Raffles: Discussion
General | Posted 11 years agoThe system is simple. A Journal will be put up at the beginning of each month, announcing the Winner of the Raffle from the previous month and calling for TAs who are able/willing to put themselves in for consideration* as an artist to fulfill the new months Raffle. To enter any Watcher** would simply have to post a Comment in response. Snoozers would be losers, of course, but that way the more avid/regular Watchers would be rewarded, while those who simply did not wish to participate(crazy people, mostly) would not be entered automatically. And I'm thinking there will be various ways for each Entrant to increase their chances. Spreading the word about a Raffle would be worth an additional 'ticket' and counting off under their own Comment to a Raffle Journal - perhaps every other day - would be worth an additional 2-3 'tickets'. I'm sure we can get more creative, but that will do for now...
*the actual artist selected for the fulfillment will be the choice of the Winners...

For at least the first 5 months of '15, I - Minion X - am personally sponsoring the TAsoFA Monthly Raffles. Any Member of TAsoFA may Apply. Monthly Raffle values as follows:
January = $20 + Febuary = $40 + March = $60 + April = $80 + May = $100
To Apply: Drop a Comment. You must simply be specific with regard to what you are offering for the stated value of that months Raffle. Quality(Sketch on up to Full Color/Shaded), Content Rating(G-A), Various Styles(Cartoon, Chibi, Realistic, Yours), Completion Window(suggesting 1-2wks.), Character Limits, "Won't Draws", whether or not Shipping(if applicable) is extra, and Samples of the sort of commissions offered. Basically, if you are already set up for Commissions, you are probably good to go. If not, it will probably take a little musing and clarity on your part.
I prefer a SFW, Traditional piece that can be put up in the TAsoFA Submissions Gallery, but ultimately, that is up to the Winner in accordance with what you are willing to offer. Digital is fine, NSFW is fine. It may be my money(just to start with, hopefully) but it's not my art...
I'm hoping to start a TAsoFA Patreon Group in the early part of '15, proceeds from which will eventually subsidize the Raffles. Which will become Perks/Rewards for its Patrons, anyway.

I will search/Watch 3 new Traditional Artists a day and hope to establish bi-weekly(or monthly) 'Discovery Days',

What "Favorites" Are For
General | Posted 11 years agoTAsoFA's Favorites serve as an active Gallery - or Showcase, if you prefer - of a small portion of the works of its Members - or Watched. Upon their discovery - or reference - each new artist has one piece selected from their current Gallery(or Scraps, in many cases) as an initial Fav and one per month thereafter(intended to be selected from among all new works that month). In cases where no new works are submitted over the course of a month, an older work *may* be chosen instead. Digital works are, of course, not considered. Mixed Media pieces feel very iffy to me, but the TAsoFA Policy regarding them is open to discussion...
Just FYI, TradishArtists browses FA on the "SFW" setting, so Mature/Adult pieces are unseen.
Commissions are generally NOT selected as Faves, nor are Fan Arts or Pin-Ups*. Requests, Gift Arts and Personal works are more 'acceptable'. Promo materials feel a bit iffy to me, but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
*However, there will undoubtedly be some few exceptions...

Random pieces may of course be given, but a Theme will be voted on at the end of each month for the month following and dedicated works might be a little more specific in the nature of their subject, based thereon.
Artists will of course retain full rights to original content. However, if you would like to donate the original work to the TAsoFA Group, simply sign, 'stamp' - or watermark the Digital version of it - with the TAsoFA signet(coming soon). Just please be aware that physical arts dedicated to TAsoFA may eventually be auctioned off to raise funds for various Group drives and projects. {With your permission, of course.} So you should please retain them.

Force of Giddy *hugs* Brigade: Concept Discussion
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, I've been staring at this rather emo Journal entry posted by a certain member of TAsoFA - who shall be called "X" for the sake of anon-ness - and feeling sad and useless because I don't know what I could possibly say. I know what I could *do*, but I'm borderline comfortable doing it. Alone, at any rate...
Shizz happens, life gets peeps down. Even wonderfully expressive artists with their beautiful, imperfect human spirits. And there is no magic cure-all for the hurt inside. But it is people who most often help there. In-person especially, but in this day and age, Online comfort can sometimes be just as effective. They say it is the thought that counts, right? Even if you can't hold it, let it wrap around you and draw warmth and solace from it...
What I'm getting at is, Might some TAsoFA Members be willing to join a special 'group hug brigade'? If any Member posts of ill tidings in a Journal entry, we will swoop in and shower that unfortunate victim of bad happenstance with the most basic necessity of life: a *hug*. Words of sympathy would be optional, so please don't feel like you would have to figure out something to say too. Advice, cheer, encouragement, all optional. But should you choose to join this movement, a *hug* would be your duty, your honor, your privilege...

General | Posted 11 years agoI haven't given quite as much thought to these as I have some other things. {Skewed priorities, no doubt.}
I Noted Zannah with regard to what she wanted up in her TAsoFA Journal entry. This is what I received in response:
"Well, I started doodling furry critters around 1993, and got serious about learning to draw in 1999. Went to college and got a BFA in studio art and a minor in art history, and used it to draw yet more furries! I've been attending, staffing, and working conventions since 2001. I've always loved working in real/traditional art media. I started with just pencil, and branched out from there into marker and watercolor, and I love experimenting with new things. Of late, most of my work is done in Copic marker, though I do still break out the paints from time to time. I've been a working artist for years, but 2014 is the first year I've finally managed to kick myself into gear, particularly when I started doing Tigerdile streams. I've met some seriously awesome people this last year in particular while streaming art."

It is a little more in-depth and personal than I would have ever thought to be, but a great place to start, nonetheless. If, on the other paw, you prefer to be more spontaneous, you can simply Invite Questions under yours. After all, some of us have more of a list of Fu-AQs(un-Asked)!
