shit, my journal is two years out of date.

well, i'm almost two years on testosterone, three months post top
surgery, and i'm working full time. not really around a lot but still
trying to get some drawing time in soon. hope you've all been well.

that is when my first appointment with an
endocrinologist happens. with luck, it won't
be long after that i get my first intra-muscular
shot of testosterone and begin my physical
transition maleward. wish me luck, lil pups.

i'm back. been having trouble deciding which account i want to use.
leaning toward this one right now just because i like the art i have up here the best.
gonna reopen commissions after i put up a few example drawings.
might be inclined to do a few free drawings just to build up my commission examples.
if you're interested, post a link to your reference sheet, and i might choose you?

if you are an artist who charges less than ten dollars for any commission, you are actively fucking over all artists. charging way too little is spreading a mindset that people deserve to have cheap art, which erases the fact that art is specialized labor, that many of us spent tens of thousands of dollars on art school to learn a trade. we don't owe you a discount just because you don't make much at your job. that's basically saying because you don't earn much (likely for non-specialized labor) then artists shouldn't earn much either.

i've heard "yeah but making art is fun, you should be glad you're making money doing something you like." well, yeah, art can be extremely fun and just as rewarding, but it's not a cake walk. it's sweat and blood and tears and sleeplessness and cramps and blisters and frustration and self-loathing and hopelessness and perseverance. artists, know your worth. commissioners, keep in mind you are paying for art.

so if you charge three dollars for a commission or think that's okay, fuck right off.

i always get annoyed when i see people who do anthro art and submit it to this website say "i'm not a furry" or "i'm not part of the fandom." if you're on this site, you're part of the fandom. if you draw anthro characters, you are part of the fandom. saying you're not a furry while drawing furry art is defining what it means to be furry in a really narrow way.

i'm going to a program to get my shit together,
so there will be a tark shaped space on furaffinity
coming soon, and it will last up to two months.

i have a week or two before this happens. this is
a heads up, as i doubt i'll be able to make any art
while i'm here. as if i ever make art anyway lol.

i'm back
my therapist told me to get a kitten
so my boyfriend and i did just that.
we named her toph. i'll be picking up
my commissions where i left off and
get my painting for phanta done as
well as my ref sheet for remixed roxy.
after that i'm going to take some time
off from doing commissions and focus
on developing my style in the direction
it's taking me in (kind of like a really
badly behaved dog on a leash, this wave
of creativity in a new style is dragging
me around rudely). but, phanta, roxy,
your drawings are coming, i'm sorry i
am so bad with deadlines, and you two
are both lovely humans of whom i am
fond. and thanks to all for being so lovely
about my issues, i really needed that time off.
