Alright, I think I need to clarify myself.
Posted 6 months agoThis wasn't a spur of the moment decision in the middle of the night on a silly whim. It was a calculated decision in the middle of the night... with some whimsicalness to it.
See, for the past 17 years I've gone by Trapmagius. Wow, that's a really long time isn't it? But from time to time over a decade or so I've thought "gee, it would be nice to change that name and separate the character from the artist a bit". Having to start over from a new account is what kept me from doing it in the first place. So, having a name change be a thing was a pretty cool feature to roll around.
So is anything going to change? No, not really. I'll still keep drawing stuff (even if it's a complete snek binge at the moment). There's no malice, no bad feelings, nothing negative. I just needed a breath of fresh air. Trappy will still be there, I will still be a goober, things will continue as they have.
There has been some confusion and a little worry, especially on Discord. I mean, I get it. It seems like a completely irrational spur of the moment thing to do something drastic like this. But unless there's a big backlash or I just end up regretting things, this is how I want to proceed. Yes, you can still call me Trap or Trappy if you want. :3

Posted 10 months agoIt's been a little while. So what changed since last time?
Well! Here's a recap.
* I played videogames instead of installing the tablet again. Todd's wild Skyrim ride, Jingle Jangle simulator, XCOM 2, Diablo 2 LoD and some Guilty Gear Strive mixed in when I was with friends.
* Interests evolved over time. I got more immersed in other stuff besides videogames and drawing, like Blood Bowl and writing stupid little match reports for them.
* Previous long droughts of drawing that slowed down over time was due to depression. Turns out the meds I was on had a fun little sideffect of killing my creativity and my overall emotional state was 90% blunted. I've been off them since august and I noticed I felt a lot happier without them. Less zombie, more ghost. Haw~ ´w`
* Had a rough period with my mother due to drastic changes in her life. Things settled down and she's doing okay, so that was a load off my mind.
* Alcoholism. I got better control over my drinking this year. The urge never goes away, but I'm not a slave to the bottle. (Still gonna have a beer every now and then.)
What's the plan going forward in terms of doodling? Well, doodle! Can't say how much or often, but I'll try to be a little more consistent besides a drawing every 3 years. That's about it!

Posted 4 years agoYep, that one Opeth album. I can't think of any album that can fully encapsule the feeling of autumn. Also did you know? The first Opeth album I was introduced to was "My Arms, Your Hearse" roughly 18 years ago by a brazilian RO player by the name of Kiithid? If it wasn't for him I'd probably never have come across this amazing swedish death metal/prog group. Man, sometimes I wonder how the old crew back on SeHiRO are doing these days... especially the canadian bros that rocked that smith/stunner monk combo that changed me for life. Or Iglo and Nas. I know Nas still lives in this town, but Iglo is like... I have no idea how he's doing. Or that min/max madman named Locke out there in Ireland. Posted 4 years agoIt feels so good to be back home again! Sure it's dusty as hell and I haven't unpacked everything, but being able to sit in my chair again feels like heaven~! Looks pretty dope in here as well with the new kitchen and bathroom. I'll do stuff when I feel less dead.

Posted 4 years agoAnd I have to say from the amount of things made, and personal opinion, 2017 was the golden year. Lots of output, high quality, even sketches were damn good. I can even peek further back to when I first started getting a hang on tablet and SAI and go "hmm I like how I did this" and "this looked damn good for its time, but..." and "I wanna try out this style I had" and all kinds of stuff like that! Even the ANCIENT things from even before I posted here (and that includes pencil sketches found in old sketchbooks) had me going full nostalgia and was a mix of laughs and good memories. From a technical standpoint I'd cringe hard on the old things if I showed it, but man... from silly things to old porn, it made me really nostalgic and a bit happy at my younger self just wanting to draw things without a care in the world. And isn't that how things are supposed to be? Just creating things for your enjoyment, sometimes share it on this internets thing. Not being too harsh on yourself, just... make stuff!
Fun fact! The VERY first thing I ever uploaded to any art site (I even forgot its name, it might be long, long dead) was a drawing a hatless Freya Crescent running her fingers through her hair. It was awful, really awful, but I was super proud at the time. And to this day I have NEVER been able to draw her again because I put impossible standards on myself to do her justice. It's like the white whale (holy grail) of my entire drawing... I wouldn't say career, but you get what I mean, right?
But YEAH, I've had a fifth of Koskenkorva on this fine friday evening and I wish all of you a good day, morning, evening, wherever you are.

Posted 5 years agoSo I'm in the process of moving to a temporary apartment due to massive renovations taking place. So what does this mean? Well, in short, I'm gonna be offline for a bit.
