Mastodon Moved

I've finally been able to remake my account on a new server, so you can go poke me here now:

(Another lap around the Sun bites the dust)
Things have been... Just okay. Money has not been that great so far this year but I'm still working on things and staying above water. It's just taking a while.
Next up is Furcationland in about 2 weeks or so. Only going Fri/Sat and leaving Sunday around noon or so probably but will be finalized once it gets closer.

2023 Year in Review (Caution: Long)
General | Posted 2 years agoMiles E. Traysandor - 2023 Year in Review
Personal Health = B- [81]
I've noticed the first signs of aging. Other than that not much to report.
Work = B+ [88]
Things were certainly busier and more productive than last year, as the pandemic fades into memory, things have mostly adjusted to the new normal.
Financial = C- [72]
This year was definitely a little worse for wear overall, but a lot of that had to do with June and July, which we'll recover from soon enough lol... We spent a lot more this year compared to previous years.
Romance = A [95]
Yeah I got married and things have mostly been going well. Paying for the marriage and honeymoon took a notable toll on the financials, but we're managing.
Friendships = D+ [68]
I got to hang out with more friends this year, but not enough to significantly move the needle.
Family = C+ [78]
Good news and bad news here. I got to see the extended family again and even my mother, but bad news in that there were two deaths in the extended family this year, and everyone's still mostly splintered apart, but it's been better this year than at any point in the last few years.
Internet = C+ [77]
Things have been better for the most part, but I've also had a lot of my attention diverted to managing Real Life for obvious reasons. My Twitter account has now closed now that the end of the year is here and honestly I won't be missing that drama pit.
Psychological = B [85]
Well I got married and took my first real vacation in forever, so... yeah this grade gets a boost mostly from that.
OVERALL = B- [80]
Several grade boosts were just enough to edge this up a notch compared to previous years. Yeah most of it was from getting married but still, it was a better year than most in recent memory.

Created a Mastodon (Finally)
General | Posted 2 years agoI had been on the fence about this one for some time, but recent events with the former Twitter have led me to finally pull the trigger and create a newer space where I can feel a bit more comfortable being myself.
To be honest I haven't really felt that comfortable being active on Twitter in years with toxic fanbases lurking in the shadows ready to show up and cancel me at a moments' notice. I still point to the night Trump was elected and the dumpster fire that turned everything into. If you want my honest opinion it never really got better after that. A lot of the accounts I followed were retweeting all the bullshit going on in the world to the point where I had to go and basically turn off almost everyone's retweets
Elon buying Twitter was more or less the proverbial iceberg dead ahead, and now it feels like the ship is taking on water and fast. I've backed up most of the stuff I care about from that site to my hard drive, and cleaned out a lot of mostly inactive accounts from my followers list. Put the account into protected tweets mode for now.
But enough rambling I guess, here's where you can find me on Mastodon:

2022 Year in Review (Caution: Long)
General | Posted 3 years agoMiles E. Traysandor - 2022 Year in Review
Personal Health = B- [80]
I've noticed the first signs of aging. Other than that not much to report.
Work = B [85]
It was a better year than last, and things mostly started to resemble normal around mid-February. It's still not 2019 levels but....
Financial = C+ [78]
It's been a strange year to judge this. But overall things weren't terrible, even if the money was a little weird at times.
Romance = A [95]
I mean... I got engaged. I think this one's obvious. This grade is likely retiring next year.
Friendships = D- [61]
Not much changed in this category despite the great reopening.
Family = C- [72]
Things have been mostly fine between two families. My dad has left the region for good now but I'll wait one more year before retiring this category.
Internet = C- [70]
There's been a lot more drama this year online from various sources. It has me considering going back into being mostly hermit/NPC mode but right now I'm basically just sitting on the fence.
Psychological = C+ [78]
This has also been a really strange year to grade this. Some good stuff happened, a lot of bad stuff happened, and some unusual stuff happened. I think everything mostly balances out but the grade takes a small hit.
OVERALL = C [77]
There have been a lot of shakeups to the the normal order of things this year.
People are moving on in life, bad stuff is happening "outside the bubble", and life priorities are shifting. Things were generally worse overall, but it's mainly because of the Romance category that cancels out most of it.

General | Posted 4 years agoNews from Miles E. Traysandor
For Immediate Release
Following a recent scare with my personal health, I am making the decision to cancel my appearance at Anthro New England this year. I cannot guarantee the health of myself nor the person I now live with (who can't get vaccinated due to legitimate medical issues). I am a bit disappointed in having to make this call, but I feel like now isn't really the best of times for a big convention
Regardless of your opinion on the matter of C-19, please stay safe out there, especially if you are still going to ANE. I know the current state of things is complicated, but... Vaccinated people can still get sick too. I learned that the hard way and had to call out sick from work for the first time in several years.
Hope to see you all at a future furmeet or convention. I'm going to take some more medicine and lay back down again.

DAWN OF A NEW DAY, 2022
General | Posted 4 years agoOn this dawn of the new year, I'm hoping that while most of the world deals with more plague, this will be the year for me to work on some long term projects that will make things better overall in the long run.
2021 was a tale of two halves of the year, with the second half being much better than the first half was.
As long as the plague doesn't send the world into lockdown again...

2021 Year In Review [Caution: Long Post]

2021 Year in Review
The Report Card is now In:
Personal Health = B- [80]
Nothing major of note to worry about in the health department.
Work = C [75]
The first few months of the year reeked of 2020. After the reopening, things rebounded enough that I can at least give this a passing grade.
Financial = C [75]
Like the work grade above, the first few months were touchy. But since that time and since a certain someone moved in (more on that later) money has stabilized enough to give it a passing grade.
Romance = B+ [88]
Well, the romance from last year turned into that person now lives with me. Things have been going well for the most part, with a few minor speed bumps.
Friendships = D- [61]
Not much changed in this category despite the great reopening.
Family = C- [72]
Things have been mostly fine between two families. I don't see much reason to change this grade right now, so I'll leave it as is.
Internet = B- [80]
Well, if you ignore all the drama and crap out there (Which I've largely been trying to stay out of the social media dumpster fires), it was another fine year on the Internet.
Psychological = B- [81]
The first half of the year was quite touchy. But much like the Money category, once things reopened and someone moved in things improved quite a bit.80+80
OVERALL = C [76]
There is a clear tale of two sides to the year. The first few months of the year are better left not spoken about. The rest of the year was somewhat of an improvement compared to the previous year. Though with how 2020 was that wasn't exactly a hard goal to overcome.
And now time for the year end Q and A session!
1 - Who was your 2021 Person of the Year:
Nina. If that wasn't fairly obvious
Honorable Mention goes to the folks of the Define Cycnical Telegram Channel Network.
2 - Favorite Moments of the year?
Mid-July, when Nina moved in
3 - Name one thing you never did before this year:
Had someone come live with me full time
4 - Least Favorite Moment:
Everything until the Great Reopening
5 - Best New Person You Met This Year:
I didn't really meet anyone new of note.
6 - Any Illness/Injuries this year?
Nope, nothing significant of note.
7 - Where was I when 2021 Began/Who were you with?
With Nina, celebrating on Animal Crossing.
8 - What did you do for your birthday/how old?
38 - Spent some of that time with Nina.
9 - Where will you be when 2021 ends?
I haven't decided that just yet.
10 - Did you keep your Keep New Years Resolutions?
Well I promised that it would be a better year than 2020 was. I'd say mission accomplished.
11 - Any resolutions for next year?
Someone wants me to take an arrow to the knee... We'll see how the year goes.
12-15- Fall in love/with who/do they know?
I mean there was no one new this year. Like mentioned before, Nina moved in with me and things have mostly been going well. If it keeps up, I know the road it will eventually lead down.
16 -17 Break up with someone / Still in love / regrets?
Nope, not this year.
18 - What was your Fashion Concept this year? Did it change?
Same as it's always been. Wear whatever I feel like or whatever's clean, except dresss clothes on the job. I see no reason to change it up, as I literally don't care for fashion trends.
19 - Make any New Friends this year?
Nope, not this year
20 - Fave New Friends?

21 - Favorite Month?
July
22 - Did you travel internationally?
Nope, no passport and not nearly enough money for that.
23 - How many Different states did you travel to?

24 - Did you lose anyone close?
Not this year that I know of.
25 - Did anyone close give birth?

26 - Do you miss anyone?
<Insert here the long list of people I want to hang out with but never have the time or money to do so here, or they live too far away>
27 - Whose Behavior merited celebration?
I guess my own / Nina's for making the choice to move in together.
28 - Whose Behavior that made you appalled/depressed?
Anyone who intentionally spread C-19 - this includes any misinformation. Also anyone contributing to the social media dumpster fire, regardless of what form it takes.
29 - What things did you got excited for?
The Great Reopening, Nina moving in
30 - What did I want and get?
Well, isn't that obvious?
31 - Favorite 2021 Movie?
Encanto. At least I found it more interesting than the new Bond film.
32 - Favorite song from 2020:
(Remind me to relisten to the new DT album again)
33/34 - Concerts Attended/Favorite concert?
I did not go to any concerts this year.
35 - Best Musical Discovery of the year?
Nothing new of note this year besides an album released by a band I already followed for years. I liked it more than their previous album.
36 - TV show of the Year?
It's not a new TV show as I've been watching the entire series via Hulu, but Bob's Burgers.

A new matress to replace an old, lumpy, aging one.
38 - Book of the year?
I did not read any new books this year.
39 - Did you drink booze / do drugs a lot:
Nope. I rarely consume alcohol and I'm keeping it that way. I don't touch illegal drugs, and I only take over the counter stuff when necessary.
40 - Did you sleep with anyone?
Platonic - Nope
Romantic - Yup
Sexual - Yup
41 - Do anything you're ashamed of?
I can't think of any EPIC FAIL moments that I would go back and undo.
42 - Worst lie someone told you 2020:
"COVID will just go away once the lockdown is lifted"
43 - Did you treat anyone badly this year?
I never intentionally aim to treat anyone badly do to be honest.
44 - Anyone treat you badly?
Not really. I suppose work might count on some occasions, but -shrug-
45 - How much money did you spend 2021, Besides obligatory expenses (Rent/Bills/Groceries/Etc):
A decent amount. Had the couch and the mattress, and some stuff to help make Nina's life easier.
46 - Where did most of your money go?
(Individually in order from most to least) Rent, payroll taxes, bills, groceries, everything else
47 - Proudest moment 2021?
See also: Favorite Moment
48 - Hate anyone new?
Nope. I don't enjoy truly hating people.
49 - What kept you sane?
The Internet, Nina, and video games
50 - What celeb/public figure did you fancy the most?
*Shrugs* I don't pay attention to celebs or public figures.
51 - Political issue that stirred you the most:
I try to stay away from politics, but if I had to choose something, Governments doing shitty things and C-19 are still at the top of the list.
52 - Wish I'd done more of:
Seeing friends I knew from before C-19.
53 - Wish I'd done less of:
Paying Money on necessary things.
54 - How will/did you spend Christmas?
Probably the morning with Nina and maybe a quick Dad visit.
55 - Learn any Valuable Life Lesson(s)?
C-19 sucks. We do not speak about the previous President.
56 - Quote Song Lyrics that sum up the year:
Hiding, never showing its face
Feeding on irrational fear
Thoughts race at a fevrish pace
Soaring on a flight of ideas
Perched on its victim's shoulder
Whispering in its ear
Things that may never happen
Worries too much to bear
Invisible Monster
Always felt but never seen
Unwelcome presence refusing to leave
Song: Invisible Monster
Artist: Dream Theater
Album: A View From the Top of the World (2021)
57 - Thoughts about 2021:
It was a better year than 2020 - albeit that year set the bar relatively low. After the first few months things got progressively better. The rest of the year has been about the move in and sailing away from the near disaster that 2020 was and cleaning up the mess left behind.
58 - Plans for 2022:
Continue relationship building. Maybe take the next step beyond just having a girlfriend. It does seem like the worst of 2020's wrath is behind us for now. As long as there's no big shutdown again I should be okay.
Long Term Goal - Finding a more permanent place to settle down. For now I'll keep adding money to the rainy day war chest and see where it leads.

The 2010s - A Look Back [Twitter Repost]
General | Posted 4 years agoThe following content was originally posted to my Twitter account on January 2nd, 2020. Before we would all come to know what that year would bring for most of us, and also for me specifically.
A respective on the 2010s, a series of Tweets:
It's easy to forget now that we opened that decade with a recession. It personally took me much of the decade to fully recover, and I spend several of those years without a car to my name - or driving a beater. The decade also saw me make several moves to try and fix what was a mostly disastrous decade that was the 2000s. Lessons were learned and old debts were repaid. The repair work is mostly done, but not completely. I get the sense it's gonna take at least several more years.
What memories I have of the last decade mostly live on in a series of year in review postings and the YJE special I did in 2014, and whatever I post on social media these days (I haven't been as active lately, mostly because there's a lot of toxicity around). Life in general has been mostly forgettable the past few years - doing what I need to stay afloat, and pouring most of my resources into ensuring that I can keep the boat sailing for as long as possible. The next few years will probably be more of the same. A lot of that was reflected in my love life - or lack theirof for most of the last decade. It wasn't until 2017 that things finally started to move. Up until that point, it had pretty much been a running joke since the 90s. While that relationship didn't work out for various reasons, I did learn some things. I hadn't really been looking for anything since, but... Unexpectedly in the late summer / early fall of this year, a new candidate has arisen. Where the relationship will ultimately lead remains to be seen - but I'll do the best I can.
[Note: That relationship didn't work out either, but the rest of 2020 hadn't happened yet at that point.]
Prospects for the upcoming decade are looking somewhat better than this time 10 years ago. Of course, a lot can happen between now and the time 2030 rolls around, but the issues will be addressed as they arise...
[*Cough COVID cough*]
I have a lot of work to do ahead. I hope the road will be smooth.

COVID and the State of the Kitsune, Part 10 (Finale?)
General | Posted 4 years agoCOVID and the State of Miles Traysandor, Part 10
"Dawn is on the Horizon"
I feel like the worst of this is now behind us. As the vaccienes flow freely and the pandemic finally fizzles out the world slowly begins to resume normalcy. It'll take some time before we see full normalcy, but it's finally getting there after what feels like forever. I've been making enough money to at least keep the bills paid fror now. It's not ideal but at least I'm not losing money. The time has come to start shifting towards what comes after.
I come out of the storm still intact financially, though most non-essential purchases had to be postponed until further notice. However, my girlfriend who is expected to join the crew soon. Together I hope we can set sail towards something better, but where the winds will take us from here remains to be seen.
I won't miss most of the pandemic shutdowns. Sure it gave me some much needed time off from work (at a noticable cost), it gave me the time I needed to focus on a relationship, and it did also include the new car purchase... but most of the rest was rather forgettable. I couldn't really go much of anywhere to do anything - something that I hope I can change with a co-pilot at my side.
This will be my last entry in this series unless an unexpected development occurs.

COVID and the State of the Kitsune, Part 9
General | Posted 4 years agoCOVID and the state of Miles Traysandor, Part 9
It's been over a year now since the pandemic shut everything down. Things are slowly improving as the vacciene enters more peoples' bloodstreams. There's somewhat of a noticable supply chain issue, a big factor in places where population is high (Like the state I live in). I still suspect that we won't see full normalcy until after July 4th.
As for me I was able to sign up for a vacciene on Monday Mar 22, and I got my first shot two weeks later. I'm feeling fine and I'm guessing it'll probably be the second shot that might kick my butt for a few days. I plan on getting the second shot May 1st - it should be a little sooner but I have some important things going on the last week of April that need to be dealt with first.
In the meantime though, I have noticed my work start to get a little busier - but not nearly the level it was before COVID shut everything down. However, unemployment has been extended once again, so I think I will be fine for a while to come. All major nonessential purchases will still be postponed until further notice, but at least the bills will still be paid for at least a while longer. In the meantime, I'm going to be putting into place a recovery plan so that I can more or less hit the ground running once COVID has been dealt with.
My birthday was a fairly quiet one again this year. I was able to spend some of that with a certain someone though! We've been talking about her moving in and I'm on board with the idea! It's definitely going to be beneficial to me and most likely her as well. While 2020 was a bad year in most respects, it did give me one thing I would never have had time for otherwise - focusing efforts on relationship building. Let's hope that continues in the right trend.

2020 Year In Review [Caution: Long]

2020 Year in Review
The Report Card is now In:
Personal Health = B- [80]
Nothing major of note to worry about in the health department, though it's been a fair bit more stressful overall than last year was, for different reasons than usual.
Work = D- [60]
This year was significantly slower than previous years for obvious reasons. I'll go into more detail in the questions below.
Financial = D [63]
Money has been a lot tighter than previous years, mostly thanks to work being a lot slower. Unemployment has saved this grade from being a straight up F. The ship is staying afloat for now at least...
Romance = B- [81]
Of all the years for this grade to recieve a significant boost, it had to be 2020. Let's just say I wasn't expecting this one, yet here we are. I think I like the way things are heading, but we'll see what next year has to offer...
Friendships = D- [61]
With everyone in lockdown and social gatherings on hold for the forseeable future, it's no surprise that this grade suffered too.
Family = C- [72]
Things have improved in this department. I've been more active with my dad and I've met another family a couple times. It'll be interesting to see how things develop.
Internet = B- [80]
Well, if you ignore all the drama and crap out there (Which I've largely been trying to stay out of the social media dumpster fires), it was another fine year on the Internet.
Psychological = C+ [77]
This year has been a bit of an up and down. Overall I'm holding steady, mainly in the hopes that we can resume some sense of normalcy once this whole disaster is over.
OVERALL = C- [71]
This was a crazy year, much different than anything I've seen in recent years. A lot of things have shifted in ways that no one could have predicted when the year started, and as a result the overall grade is a bit lower. About the only reason it wasn't worse was because Romance decided to butt in at the most unlikely of times.
And now time for the year end Q and A session!
1 - Who was your 2020 Person of the Year:
Nina - for reasons I'll get into soon enough.
Honorable Mention goes to the folks of the Define Cycnical Telegram Channel Network.
2 - Favorite Moments of the year?
October, when I was able to spend some time with Nina.
3 - Name one thing you never did before this year:
Buy a brand new car!
4 - Least Favorite Moment:
Pretty much the entire Spring of 2020

Well, yeah I kinda did break up with someone if you want to call it that. We are still friends, but my last visit reminded me of why a serious relationship would not work out with that person.
18 - What was your Fashion Concept this year? Did it change?

Nothing new of note this year.
36 - TV show of the Year?

38 - Book of the year?
I did not read any new books this year.

Platonic - Room share with someone at ANE.

42 - Worst lie someone told you 2020:
"COVID will just go away once the lockdown is lifted"
43 - Did you treat anyone badly this year?
I never intentionally aim to treat anyone badly do to be honest.
44 - Anyone treat you badly?
Not really. I suppose work might count on some occasions, but -shrug-
45 - How much money did you spend 2020:
ALL OF THE MONEY. Well... Okay, all of the money I had legal access to anyways.

What if someone said
Problems Lie Ahead
They've uncovered something highly controversial
The right to life is strong
Can't you see it's wrong
Human kind has reached a turning point
Poisoned for conflict at ground zero
Ready for a war
Do we look for our unearthly guide
Or the white coat heroes
Searching for a cure
Song: The Great Debate
Artist: Dream Theater
Album: Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (2002)
57 - Thoughts about 2020:
What a shitty year for a lot of things. COVID has ground the economy to a screeching halt and right now everyone is more or less in survival mode, myself included. Our society was not built for such a thing and it shows. Though for me it wasn't all bad news - It resulted in a new car and a new girlfriend.
58 - Plans for 2021:
Primary objective - Survive COVID-19 and get back on my feet again. I'm guessing it will take most of 2021 for the smoke to clear from near disaster, but what things will look like when this mess finally gets cleaned up remains to be seen. I can only hope that we see some sort of return to normalcy.
Secondary objective - Work on relationship with Nina and see where that develops.
Long Term Goal - Finding a more permanent place to settle down. Let's just say my apartment has seen better days in overall general wear and tear.

As the year draws to a close. we still don't have any notable solution just yet. As I understand it, we'll see tratement out soon, but it will be another month or two before we see it fully hit the streets - as the most critical workers will get it first, then slowly followed by everyone else. I will be looking into getting a treatment as soon as I am able to get one.
What does that mean for me? Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that unemployment has been extended and I can continue to file into early next year. The bad news is that I don't think it will completely cover the gap and the situation will have to be readressed in the coming months... But I have most of the winter that I can now safely sit out and not have to worry so much about looking for temporary work until well after the holidays have passed by.
As far as relatoinship things go? I feel like things are on the right path for now. We spent some time during Thanksgiving at a small family gathering at her place. But not much has happened since - you know how retail goes in December. At least she looks to come out of this on the other side with what I'm hoping will be a raise. I'm hoping that will help in the long term if we decide to explore future prospects.

To no one's surprise, the numbers have continued to get worse as the weeks and months drag on. Reports suggest that help may be on the way in the near future in the form of treatment, but it cannot come fast enough. Even then I still get the sense hat this is going to linger over everyone for a while longer.
I briefly considered starting hunting for a replacement job in the short term, but the search has been suspended until some treatment hits the streets. I will probably qualify for the extended unemployment. It will help in the short term, but what happens when the calendar flips to January remains to be seen.
In the meantime, what was originally a message out of the blue has now turned into a girlfriend closer to my age than past relationship candidates. Both parents have figured it out, and it's pretty much official now. For me this is by far the deepest I've been able to explore a real relationship and feel mostly comfortable about it - albeit with some adjustments. It helps a lot knowing that she is capable of taking care of herself.
Sure there's a few issues that will need addressing in the long term, but it's far better than previous relationships where I would have to do most of the heavy lifting and supporting of the other partner. I kind of realized those sort of relatoinships were only going to cause me fatigue and stress... and that was before the unforseen disaster that this year has been. A situation like this may have driven me to the point of doing something drastic - and that has never yielded good results for me when faced with similar situations in the past.

COVID and the State of the Kitsune, Part 6

Well, it's now official, the President has got COVID-19. I'm not going to get into the argument or the discussion, but I hope that today's news serves as a wake-up call to this nation that the virus is real and we must do everything in our power to overcome it if we want to see our lives as a whole return to some sense of normalcy.
Meanwhile, things have still been slow at work. Recently I had the first the first "Normal" looking day of work I've seen in like... six months or so. Besides that, though I've been staying afloat mostly thanks to Unemployment for now, but with the news of the day and the longer this goes on, I think at this point I'm only delaying the inevitable of havig to seek out new work, at leat in the long term.
I'm not looking forward to the prospect of seeking new work, but it's likely that it will be a necessary evil until Humanity starts to recover from this. I'll just have to adapt in order to keep me afloat until the storm passes. Because without a new source of income, trouble will quickly find me at the end of the year.
By now you all know I bought a new car. Most of that was from my own money though my dad pitched in a bit too. I bought a Kia Forte - a basic car that's nothing fancy, but it exiles the looming problems that my 2014 Sonic was going to be facing with the mechanic. You could argue both ways about which would be more viable, but I'm going with the decision that I think will keep me going in the long term.
That's not the only unexpected news to come out of this year though. About a month ago I was messaged out of the blue by a lady after posting a selfie online. We becane friends quickly, and we've hung out in person several times despite the pandemic. It's too early to say right now what will happen with this long term as a romantic prospect but... I hope it develops in a good way!

Statement on the New Car Purchase
General | Posted 5 years agoAfter much consideration, I have come to the decision to let go of the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. I am taking advantage of an incentive program that will get me out of this vehicle. This incentive is only valid trading in an old car towards the purchase of a NEW vehicle, so that is what I have done.
Why trade in the 2014 Chevy Sonic?
I wanted to like the car. When it ran the way it was supposed to it felt zippy and fun to toss around the back roads. The car never broke down on me, though I managed to just barely skate by when a seal broke and I lost all coolant in the engine. Luckily I made it home having extra antifreeze with me - and I took the car straight to the mechanic first thing in the morning to get it fixed.
Being a car with a good chunk of mileage on it, maintenance issues were expected. While nothing about fixing the car was terribly expensive (~$300 each time), it did happen several times for different issues. However the looming threat of a more major repair that is likely on the horizon on this car is what ultimately led me to the decision to let the Sonic go and have someone else fix that problem before being resold.
There was also a minor accident on the drivers side front where someone backed into it that happened recently. The other party took responsibility. Instead of paying for repairs thru insurance, I settled in the middle and used the cash towards a new car. The young lady was new to driving and this for her avoids having an accident on her record (a large increase on insurance premiums).
Would you recommend a Chevrolet Sonic to other people?
If you can get a really good deal on one, and either have a plan to get rid of it before 100,000 miles or consider a maintenance-included plan of action. For me, I knew going in that this would be a 2-3 year car meant to be the bridge between the old beater I once had and something better/newer. For that the Sonic performed its job acceptably. If you have a little more money to spend up front though, I would recommend you check out the competitors in the used market before making your decision (cough Toyota cough).
What new car are you buying?
That information will be disclosed soon once the paperwork is finalized and I have the chance to get some pictures with the vehicle. Also when I reveal the car I will release my notes on the other vehicles and options that were available just so that you all know what I thought of the competition.
How do you feel about the new car?
Good, but not great. I test drove a lot of vehicles that were all around the same price point (Give or take a few thousand). Everything in the compact car segment feels like you're sacrificing something to get into the low price point. It's a more a matter of what you're okay with giving up as there isn't really a clear winner over the others, and someone else's opinion will be different than mine.
Where did you buy the car?
Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence. #ShopUsLast
How much did you pay for the car?
$15,250 + 2014 Sonic Trade In + Taxes/Fees.
How was the car dealership like to do business with?
Salesperson (at the VW dealer, specifically): Great guy, knowledgable, went above and beyond when it came to spending time with me to pick out a car - even in times of COVID when the other sales people were unwilling (Which I understand and am not going to fault anyone for - they would normally). He also helped negotiate with me when it came time to get to the numbers. It was because of all that that I rewarded him with a sale.
Negotiations: "Like getting your teeth pulled at the dentist." Difficult to work with, but after some haggling we were able to get a deal done.
Need To Know: They offer their own version of a warranty and service plan. Be warned though - the cheapest one was a little over $2,000 and the most expensive was around $4,000 (In addition to the cost of the car). It is decent coverage if you get one with a service plan included for maintenance, but I'd recommend it more for used cars than new ones if you're the kind of person that isn't expecting to go car shopping again any time soon.
Any final thoughts?
Back at the beginning of the year I promised myself this would be the year of the newer car. While COVID proved to be a major obstacle (And still will be) I can say to myself... Mission Accomplished.
I expect my new car will be what I daily drive for the forseeable future. What I decide to do with it down the road will be an issue for another time. But for now I can put to bed any worries about looming car problems and focus on more pressing matters.

COVID and the State of the Kitsune, Part 5
General | Posted 5 years agoIn case anyone here might be wondering what happened to the older entries (That were posted to Twitter before I recovered my account here), see the older entries posted here, I will not be reposting the older entries to FA: https://twitter.com/Traysandor/stat.....099913734?s=20
With that out of the way...
COVID and the State of the Kitsune, Part 5:
Things have been relatively quiet for the most part personally since my lastt update. Replacing my small business money I was getting from work before is a ride on the unemployment train. Now before you panic on such matters -- I aven't actually lost my career or my job within it. It's just that business has been extremely slow, andd no one is sure when it will return, what I am makking is mostly being used on groceries and basic necessities. Given that it's been 14 years since I last collected, I think I've earned my share of it for now. The paperwork next year will no doubt be a hassle, but that's a 2021 problem.
The matter of the future is likely a bridge that will still have to be crossed at some point... No one expected this coming, and I don't think we as a whole fully recover until next year. For now I'm still stuffing as much money as I can into savings. Whether or not that happens to turn into another car purchase this year, it's still on the table for now, at least. I'll give it until the end of the summer to see how things develop.
The other piece of news comes more in the form of an announcement. Due to the frightening and depressing state of social media, I am turning off retweets on almost all accounts until further notice. Furthermore I am going to be purging my following count, mostly of inctive accounts. Please do not take this personally if I've turned off your Retweets or unfollowed you by accident - I am mainly trying to clean things up. If there is an issue, please DM me, and we can talk it over there.

On Recent Events...
General | Posted 5 years agoI strongly disagree with the initial action. It was handled extremely poorly.
I condemn the reaction the moment it turns into either looting or violence.
That is all.
Time for Song Lyrics to summarize the year!
What if someone said
Problems Lie Ahead
They've uncovered something highly controversial
The right to life is strong
Can't you see it's wrong
Human kind has reached a turning point
Poisoned for conflict at ground zero
Ready for a war
Do we look for our unearthly guide
Or the white coat heroes
Searching for a cure

PFC 2019 Post Con Report
General | Posted 6 years ago PFC was a nice break from the chaos that my life has been recently (mostly with work). I met a lot of familiar faces (many I have met at other meets or cons in the New England area at some point or another, but a few new faces and a few more I've only chatted with on Telegram). It is a small convention though, and did feel a bit more chill compared to the hustle and bustle that ANE has become.
I think it made for a great day trip. Full con, I would probably wind up bored looking for something to do (or someone to be with). As for next year, I will certainly be back, though probably only for a day trip like this year.
Also shoutout to the person in the Dealer's Den who made and was selling the strawberry plush. I bought one and it made for a great interaction tool with other fursuiters... and I must have taken almost 100 pictures involving that plushie fruit.. heheh.
