Avatars and streams and junk!
Posted 4 years agoHi! Remember me? I'd gone back to lurking for the last... many years. But I've been missing the whole furry thing and vrchat has got me kinda diving back into that in a real way.
I've always fiddled with 3d stuff over the years, and now vrchat has really got me inspired to finally flesh out those skills for real. That combined with new VR based modelling tools and new blender skills, I'm wanting to dive into vrchat avatar stuff
Might be opening for commissions in that rralm soon, but before that, I think I want to start a sort of "avatar build speedrun" stream series, where I try to model, texture, rig, and setup an avatar in a single 3 hour stream or something like that, maybe once a week? It should be insane, and result in some delightfully cursed creations.
If that sort of things sounds fun to watch, let me know! I'll post a link here when I'm ready to start! (hopefully next week!)

Socializing?
Posted 9 years agoMan. I've been out of this community for so long, and honestly I kinda miss it. I love the creativity and the imagination and the geekery. I get plenty of the latter around here personally but... it's hard to find people with whom I line up quite rightly, and honestly I've had most luck with that in this world.
But.. I don't really know how to get back into socializing with this community! I kinda got to know people by hanging out in IRC, but I'm not sure if that's a dead thing. Are there other places where people are generally just buzzing about?
The general format of social networking is frustrating in that you're only really ever exposed to people you already know. You form this bubble and, though it helps stay in touch with those people, it can also isolate you from the world a bit, which I'm finding is really starting to make me feel pretty lonely.
Anyway say hi! I'd love to hear from you

HELP!!!Get your own personal video game remix to help Japan!
Posted 14 years agoDUDES THIS IS IMPORTANT!
At MAGfest, we're trying to do our part to help raise money for Japan, who's given gaming and animation culture so much. A bunch of people have donated a bunch of awesome stuff that we're auctioning off, and 100% of the proceeds to directly to charities.
Included in these auctions are CUSTOM VIDEO GAME REMIXES by some really amazing artists. Virt, Norg, Stemage (creator of Metroid Metal), Snappleman, and PrinceOfDarkness. These guys are amazing. Totally professional, and they will do ANY remix of ANY song from ANY game, just for you, and they will do it for FREE, because all your money goes straight to charity!
http://magfest.org/japan
There's still 3 days left of the auction. Please, spread the word on this AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! Mention it in your blogs, post about it on reddit or digg, spread it around! This is an amazing contribution from these artists and I really want it to count!

Several of you have inquired about commission stuff recently! I'm super sad to say that RIGHT AT THE MOMENT I don't have time, but I'm trying to get back to arting more so rather soon that might change!
I also should mention that I'm holding back some on the animated icons, just because they take me soooo long. Unless I come up with something simpler, I can't really charge less than 80-100 bucks for one. Of course, if cost isn't an issue, just let me know and I'm sure we can work something out :)
See you guys soon, hopefully!

Who do I know in Indiana or Ohio?
Posted 15 years agoNext week I'm driving to the east coast! It would be cool to make a stop somewhere around the halfway point to take a break, visit a friend, and maybe nod off for a few hours!
When thinking of who I knew in the area, I realized that there's probably a lot of people that I'm friends with and have no idea where they live!
I'm coming from Iowa and will be driving out either on i80 or i70/i74. Give me a holla if you're in one of the cities along those routes, and you'd like a visit! I'd probably be going through on the evening of the 28th or 29th.

If I were to go to MFF, anyone have spare room?
Posted 15 years agoI have a cot, I just need floor space! I'm nice, friendly, smoke and drama freeee! Also, I've been told I smell good.
AC was awesome, and so are you!
Posted 15 years agoOkay, finally conscious again post-AC.
A great con!
It was actually a little weird for me at first because I was sorta finding myself aimlessly wandering and/or looking for people to hang out with, because a big chunk of my normal AC crew wasn't there! I think this is an okay thing, though, because it's good to get out of old habits and stretch out to new people and make new connections. I didn't do the best at it this year, but next year I want to do better.
I decided not to do AA just because I've been so out of the art game for months and I think it would have just been stressful to jump right back in at the last second, just for the sake of money. Instead I just wanted to socialize as much as possible. I think I made the correct decision overall, but not entirely for the right reasons.
In a con where you're trying to meet new people and make new connections, I quickly realized that the best way is at an AA table! So many people stop by and will say hi that wouldn't necessarily make a point of it in passing at the con. Great way to meet internet acquaintances that haven't quite reached "friend" stage, and a great way to interact with other artists. Plus, you're in one place instead of wandering around, so it's easier to be found!
Anyway, next year I definitely want to step up the game with AA, if even just doing it for a half-day.
That said, everyone at the con was great! I want to give shoutouts but I'd be here all day and I have work to do!
ROLL FOR CHEESE!

Anyway, last weekend I got an HTC Evo 4g and I love it! So much that withing a few hours of getting it I went and spend almost 48 straight hours making a game for it. It's not done yet.

Requesting music recommendations!
Posted 15 years agoHey guys!
I'm looking for music, in two forms!
a) bands/groups/individual composers/soloists, etc. Let me know who you like! I've been listening to so much electronic recently, I've got a craving for some more analog and acoustic sounds. Singing! Playing instruments! Interesting electronic stuff is still good to go, though. And orchestrial stuff!
b) Internet streams. I've been listening to di.fm/sky.fm a lot, and they're fantastic, but I'm beginning to find that their channels tend to be a little TOO specific. Even the "Mostly Classical" channel seems to focus on a particular /style/ almost of orchestrial music. Not a lot of dynamic range. I want dynamic range! Anyway, what, if any music streams do you listen to?

LIVESTREAM here we goooo!

Posted 16 years agoOkay guys! I'm kicking this thing off, but bear with me, as I'm working out some technical difficulties.
My camera seems to have a loose connection in it somewhere and it's being picky. I know I don't really need the camera but I'd like to get it set up to where I have it available if need be. If I can get it working right in one spot so that I don't have to touch it, it should be okay!

Moving on with life
Posted 16 years agoSo, MAGfest is over. It was insane, amazing, awesome, and just makes me really proud to be a part of something that brings so many people together for such a good time.
For about a week after the event I was still on a buzz and cranking away on things like I had purpose! It was wonderful. Unfortunately, now I'm back in my home, working from my bedroom, and there's no insanity surrounding me but my own! This is a problem. I feed off of the crazyness of things like MAGfest and it gets me moving, but left to my own devices I stagnate and go idle and just stare at things all day.
To complicate things I have a hard time prioritizing things that I need to do for myself to help me work, and things that I need to work on. I'm still in a huge financial bind, and I need need NEED to be cranking at 150% CONSTANTLY in order to have any hopes of pulling myself out before something really bad happens. On the other hand, I don't focus well, and there are certain things that help, such as cleaning the house and going to the gym, but these things take time away from work time, and since I'm really behind on work, since I've been slacking, I feel like I should do some work first and come back to that later as a reward.
As a result of this conflict, I end up being torn in the middle and doing nothing.
Summary: Slack off -> think about doing things to help me focus on work -> worry that since I've been slacking I should just do some work first -> get indecisive and end up slacking off -> etc
I know that I should just take care of myself, first. It's only a few hours here and there, and there are so many more hours that are at stake if I don't get my brain under control. So, I'm going to go to the gym right now, then come home and clean up my room/office, and then get some work done.
I thrive in chaotic situations, but in absence of sufficient insanity I need to remember that I NEED some kind of consistent exertion in order to keep myself above water.
