Thanks guys! Next up, MAGfest!
Posted 16 years agoHope everyone has been enjoying whatever holidays they happen to be (or not be) celebrating this season!
Christmas was good. Good to see family, hang out with cousins, roam around the town that my dad grew up in which I haven't really toured around in like 15 years.
Tomorrow I leave for MAGfest (http://magfest.org)! Anyone who's in the Maryland/Virginia area MUST GO as it is the craziest most awesome four days of 24 hour gaming and music you can imagine. I'll be there, buzzing around trying to put out fires and keep things running smoothly!
Anyway, once again huge thanks to those of you who commissioned me in this past week or so! Between that and one of my roommates agreeing to pay his portion of the rent early, I think I can avoid disaster! As soon as I get back from MAGfest I'm going to be cramming through all your commissions like crazy!
See you at MAGfest!

Emergency Commission Call! Badges on sale!
Posted 16 years agoHey guys! First I'd like to thank you all for being so supportive of me in the past few months. It's been loads of fun making art for people and seeing everyone's positive reactions. Thanks!
Right now, I could use your help to help me with a bit of a financial emergency one more time. I just recently got a new job delivering pizzas, but the money from that isn't going to start flowing until about mid-January, and I'm in a bit of a hole!
In short: My mortgage payment is about to lapse, and I need to plug the financial gap between now and when I start getting paychecks again.
I know this time a year tends to be taxing on everyone's wallets, so I'm certainly understand that most are not going to be looking to buy extra stuff at the moment, but I figure it certainly doesn't hurt to put the word out, just in case!
I'm putting Badges on sale, as Further Confusion is coming up!

Commissions - clearing the logjam
Posted 16 years agoHi guuuyz
I feel really terrible, as I've had 3 outstanding commissions that have been payed for and I haven't wrapped up.
However, today I've cleared my schedule and I'm spending the rest of the day working on stuff. Hopefully I can have all the outstanding stuff done by the end of the day!
I just finished the first of 3 outstanding commissions, so that's a good sign! Always good to clear a mental logjam and get back to business.
I want to get these done today so you guys have them for x-mas!

COMMISSION CALL! $5 colored sketches, and more!
Posted 16 years agoHey guys! MFF is over (thanks to everyone who stopped by in AA!) and I'm looking to fill up my schedule!
I'm in a bad place, money wise. I'm embarrassingly behind on bills and still currently jobless, so, I'm trying to see if I can pack my schedule FULL with commissions. I'm making a shot toward basically doing this full-time for the next month or so, which means that I'm trying to turn pieces around within a couple days.
Apologies in advance, as I'm probably going to be making regular journal posts about the status of commissions in the next few weeks. I'll try not to spam your inbox too much!
Anyway, enough chit chat! Down to business!
I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU COMMISSIONED ME TO MAKE ART FOR YOU

Holy Fur Fest, Baman!
Posted 16 years agoHoookay! So I'm finally getting around to this con report thing! This is going to be long, so I don't really expect anyone to read it through, but here is anyway!
I usually don't do these, but I took a very different approach to this con in general than I have in the past, and it was extremely rewarding!
A little history: In the past I've basically just attended cons for the purpose of socialization.
jill0r told me on IRC in 2003 that I should come to Anthrocon in 2003 and hang out! I was a bit wary at first, but I wanted to meet some of the people I knew online, and so I went for it. I had an awesome time and met lots of awesome people! I've attended AC every year since, and each year I meet even more new kickin people and form new friendships.
This was the first con that I've gone to for the point of selling/promoting artwork as my primary goal, with socializing being second. I tend to be a built self-conscious about things like this, particularly when it comes to making things for other people that they've paid for. I worry a lot about pleasing people, and I fear making something for someone that they're disappointed by!
So let me just say that this con, for me anyway, was perfect. I want to thank EVERYONE who stopped by my table in AA all through the weekend and gave me your support, either through commissions or kind words! I went in to it frightened and unprepared, and I came out of it feeling positive and loved, and with a few extra bucks in my pocket to boot! You all not only made my weekend, but you really helped get me through a slump and have kicked me into high gear. This is something I really needed right now. I LOVE YOU ALL.
Anyway! A quick summary of events!
Thursday: Freaking the hell out about being unprepared. Get on the road, and as I drive I start feeling better. I love a good drive. Got to the hotel late and met up with
beanie,
joey-poey and we grabbed some dinner at a local Gyro dive. I was so hungry! IT WAS DELICIOUS! After that, we watched BAMAN PIDERMAN on youtube. then
dingbat showed up, SO WE WATCHED IT AGAIN. I worked a little on some examples of things I was going to sell in AA
Friday: Artists Alley, day one! I was mostly unprepared and was working on completing my sign and my examples most of the morning. Didn't get any commissions for awhile, but didn't feel too bad about it since everyone's just scoping things out on Friday, I'm a bit of an unknown, and I wasn't really prepared. My first commission for the weekend was
moontan who threw me $10 bucks because I asked him how he was doing XD (a bet he made with someone?). Anyway, I made him a little badge for it! I did end up getting one or two more commissions for the day, including a big full color one, which tool a good chunk of time to do.
Also, I got to meet
bloodhound who's art I've been fond of for some time! She's a sweetheart and let me borrow all kinds of stuff as I was scrambling around in a panic on Friday. Thanks Bloodhound!!
After AA, we went SWIMMING! Beanie, Joey and I hopped in, and Dingy was also going to join, but was at dinner. We swam and swam and it was wonderful and did me much good. Dingy was rather late, but that's okay, cause we love swimming! We ended up spending 2 solid hours in the water. Wonderful :)
After that,
ritts arrived and WE WATCHED BAMAN PIDERMAN AGAIN
Saturday:Saturday was INSANE! Couldn't have gone better! I got swamped with commissions right off the bat, and by about 1PM I had already collected enough money to nearly break even on the trip! I was flattered and flabbergasted and OUT OF MY MIND as I was trying to draw, talk to people, keep track of things... I had to take a solid lunch break before my brain popped. It was awesome!
I also got to meet that crazy
skrimpf and sit next to him in the Alley, which was cool!
Saturday night, I met up with Beanie again and DECLARED HOT TUB TIME as my brain was FRIED and I needed to cool off. It was wonderful. Then we went back to the room where I worked on homework most of the night.
Sunday:Sunday was fairly chill and nice! Did AA once again, but mostly I was full up on commissions from Saturday and couldn't really take any more! Still, a couple people were gracious enough to commission me for things that I could work on after the con.
vintagetixen even stopped by my booth! I almost didn't recognize her at first. She's looking great! Was so glad to hear that after battling with some health problems she's rebounded and feeling better than ever.
Sunday night was very chill, and not the insane party that the end of Anthrocon tends to be. I actually really liked that fact, actually. I had some work to do and chilling out and working on art is what I needed. Also, Beanie and I took a trip across town to IKEA, where she FLIPPED OUT WITH EXCITEMENT about things like corporate branded plastic bag holders and cake carriers :D Then we ate food and it was delicious.
After that we met up with
chillymouse, who I know from AC and MAGfest, but have never really been able to hang out with. She's a total sweety and very talented! Was great to finally hang out, and I'm definitely looking forward to kicking it with her at MAGfest :D (SO SHOULD ALL OF YOU, BTW, MAGFEST IS COOL) We went to the Guest of Honor party and sketched and babbled with folks. Very relaxing and cool. I felt a little out of place, as I didn't really know anyone in there save a few people. MAYBE ONE DAY I CAN BE ONE OF THE COOL KIDS, TOO. XD Everyone was nice though, and I even got a little work done!
Monday:Monday I delivered my last commission and we packed up. My van had a tire pop in the parking lot over the weekend, so I had to put the spare on. After that we puttered over to a Firestone so I could get a couple new tires, and Beanie and Joey were kind enough to keep me company while the work was done. Thanks guys! Then we said our goodbyes and departed! I had a pleasant and save drive home on my shiny new tires :)
Oh yeah! And I received a wonderful little cup from dingbat! I need to get a picture of that!
IN CONCLUSION: One of my best con experiences ever, but for totally different reasons than previous cons. I'm sure even after all this rambling I left a bunch of shit out! If I left you out, it's just because my house was sleeping; it didn't hear you.
THANKS EVERYONE WHO MADE MY CON AMAZINGLY AWESOME

Down to the wire! (MFF TOMORROW WTF)
Posted 16 years agoAs usual it's the last day before a big event and I haven't really accomplished anything that I wanted to in order to prepare. So today is crazy-go day! Unfortunately, I've also not gotten full nights sleep for about 3 nights in a row, so I'm extremely groggy.
Fortunately,
metachaos is being a dear and helping me with some gruntwork stuff! I really wanted to attempt to make a little flipbook or two of my animated icons, just as something fun to have at my table to people to flip through, so she's helping me seeing if we can put one of those together in short order. If that doesn't work out I can always just make an ultra simple little web page with the icons on it that I can pull up on my phone to show people, and just have a sign that says "ask me about my animations!" or something. An acceptable fall-back!
so yeah, MFF is tomorrow. I'm finishing up a commission right now, and then I spend the rest of the day playing with water color and doing up a few pieces similar to what I'll be offering at the convention.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot. I need to print out a few more pieces to go into my little "portfolio" folder thing so people can peruse my digital-art stuff while I'm there. I may also need to run to the art store and pick up a new sketchbook, too... we'll see.
Wish me luck! See you there!

Quiet before the storm..
Posted 16 years agoHey guys! I've been quiet for the last week or so, and I'm sorry about that. I was talking with several of you about commission stuff and I haven't stayed on top of that and that sucks!
The reason is because MFF is coming up and I'm in a tornado of productivity (relative to my normal levels, anyway) trying to prepare! It really crept up on me and I'm like AAAHHHH!
So tonight I'm trying to finish up this website for a friend, then I'm going to be getting shit ready for Artists Alley.
Two of you have already paid for commissions and I am dedicated to having those completed before the con. The rest of you, I'll be back in the game in about a week! Sorry for the delay!

Anyone else doing Artists Alley at MFF?
Posted 16 years agoHI
Okay so I'm going to MFF, and I'm going to try and spend As-Much-Time-As-Possible in the Artists Alley. The only problem is that everyone that I'm going to be hanging out with at the con otherwise seems to have dealer tables instead!
Anyone else out there that's going that's going to be doing some time in the Alley?

MFF meme?
Posted 16 years agoI copied this from
dingbat cause I'm a COPIER (I just wanna be like the cool kids)
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
I'm going to attempt to spend as much time as possible in the Artist's Alley. Wish me luck!
Where are you staying?
Westin, apparently!
Who will you be with?
JoeyPoey, Dingbat, and Beanie!!!!!! I'm so excited. Oh, also, my friend Wgg the Gnoll (aka Xango AKA other stuff) Is gonna be there, so we also shall hang. We'll probably try and get a jam session going, too. Drums and didjeridooooo
Do you do free art?
Occasionally, for friends and such... but I'm going to try and focus on commissions for this con, cause uhh, I'm totally broke!
Do you do trades?
Sometimes!
Do you do commissions?
Yesyesyesyes will draw for money thx plz
Do you have prints/ CDs ?
Not really, no :(
Do you do badges?
Ya! Badges are super fun!
What is your gender?
BOY
How old are you?
older than I feel o__o
Can I touch you?
A handshake is almost always welcome
Can I talk to you?
Yeah! Please do! I love meeting new people :D
Can we hang out?
When it comes to socializing I vary a lot between being very outgoing and being kinda uncomfortable around people I don't know, and it all depends on the situation. So... maybe?
Can I look in your sketchbook?
I... don't really have one! I do most of my work digitally, and when I need to draw in RL I just grab whatever is handy.
I do have a sketchbook that other people have drawn in, which you can certainly peruse if I have it handy :D
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
of course! I'll warn you, though, I'm too indecisive and thus don't have a "themed" book or anything.
Can I buy you a drink?
Hahaha now I know why people fill out these memes, cause it's fun to pretend like someone is actually asking you these questions XD
Uhh, yes certainly! I'll warn you, though, I have somewhat expensive taste.. (Haven't had a good glass of scotch in so long :( :( )
Can I take your picture?
Yes but I will probably make a silly face :8
I'm too shy to talk to you!
Honestly, deep down I'm really shy. I've done a lot to try and overcome it, but there are certainly situations where I'm not as outgoing as I'd like, so I understand.
I'll be (hopefully) in Artist's Alley the whole time, so if you see me, you should definitely say hi, cause I'm not exactly one of the popular kids and will probably just be sitting there bored and lonely XD
What do you look like?
like THIS: http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos.....46883_5462.jpg

older than I feel o__o

My commission slate is clean, come fill it up!
Posted 16 years agoI just finished my latest commission, an animated icon for :wggthegnoll: (which you can see here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2561681) and as such MY slate is clean with commissions.
I could use your help filling my queue back up! I hate to whine, but I'm currently in a really tight financial situation and it's not straightening out quite the way I'd hoped, so if you were ever thinking about getting some art from me, now would be a great time!
I'm pretty flexible! Sketches, digital painting, animated icons, TF2 sprays... I don't even mind getting a little dirty now and then(just make sure to talk to me first, as our definitions of "a little dirty" might not line up! ^__^ )
HELLO MY NAME IS TRESCH. CAN I HAVE SOME MONEY? I WILL DRAW FOR YOU.

TSHIRT SALE RE-OPENED - "I [mouse] you"
Posted 16 years agoHey guys! I thought I'd have these printed already, but I haven't yet. I'm currently waiting on another customer to get back to me on a request, so I have little more time. Since I have a lot of new watchers post-AC, I figured I'd put the word out one more time! Below is a copy of the original description:
======================================
Shirt: I [mouse] you
Description:
Do you ever sit at home and wax romantically about the fact that you can communicate with thousands of people all over the room with a click of the mouse? Do you swoon at the fact that you have billions of transistors sitting on your desk within a square centimeter performing calculations a billion times per second; a piece of machinery of unfathomable precision and power; that allows you to play solitaire without ever having to shuffle cards?
Do you have trouble sorting your love of of humankind with your love of technology? Do you love non-sequitur and/or chickens? Do you love wearing t-shirts that confuse people and make them give you strange looks? Then this shirt is for you!
A couple images:

I'll be mailing the rest out after the convention (early July).
I'm going to be printing these onto 100% Cotton Hanes tagless T-shirts. Since this is my first shirt and it's a fairly flexible design, for this one I'm allowing you guys to choose yourself what color shirt and ink you want! I'm only doing black and white ink for the time being, but the shirt color selection is quite varied, and you can see all the options here:

Animated icon things for sale!
Posted 16 years agoYay new icon! This tiny thing is a bit of a beast. 156 frames of animation crammed into 50k. going through and "inking" it so there were no scribblies certainly helped bring the file size down, but at a full 100x100 it still didn't /quite/ fit into the 50k file size limit, so I had to have photoshop shrink it down to 80x80. The jitteries from the resize don't look too bad at 12 frames per second or so. you barely notice!
Anyway, some people have expressed interest in icons like this for themselves, so I'm going to start offering them for commissions!
To get things kicked off, I want to do a little introductory promotion thing! So, the FIRST THREE PEOPLE who contact me for a commission get a special introductory rate:
30 CENTS PER FRAME sketchy style like this http://www.furaffinity.net/full/2208919/
40 CENTS PER FRAME cleaned up like my icon.
I'm going to limit these to 50 frames of animation which works out to $15 dollars and $20 dollars, respectively, for about 5 seconds of animation.
These are fully hand drawn frame-by-frame. No automatic tweening will ever be used! Sign up now!
Introductory animated icon slots:

Anyway, some people have expressed interest in icons like this for themselves, so I'm going to start offering them for commissions!

Sketch commission examples!
Posted 16 years agoHeya dudes!

Of course, the fact that neither of these have clothes is merely a coincidence. I was just in the mood for some figure doodling this morning. Your character's attire would be up to you :)
