Sad day today...
General | Posted 12 years agoToday, I found out my papaw (grandpa) passed away last night, in his sleep. He had been having some complications for the past couple weeks to where he could barely get out of bed. He was a great man, pastor, loving father and husband. The family plus friends came today to help support Mamaw through this ordeal. He was 92 years old.
However, I know he is no longer suffering but is in Heaven above. But, it's gonna be hard knowing he's not around anymore. Papaw, we all will miss you.

My Thoughts on Star Wars - Part 1
General | Posted 12 years agoI have a confession to make everyone. This is a secret that I have been keeping, for several years now. I know I am probably going to piss a lot of people off for what I am about to say, but I cannot lie anymore. I…cannot stand the Star Wars franchise. Before you press the back button, or put down a negative comment spamming or trolling me, hear me out first. There are a number of reasons why I think that the franchise is overrated in my opinion. These reasons are the following; the hype, the love and hate given to the movies, and the bullying I endured growing up.
The overhyping of the Star Wars franchise is something that has bothered me ever since the movies ended after Revenge of the Sith. People have been known to hype the movies up so much to newcomers, that they almost consider them godly. To be honest, I don’t praise them that highly, I just see them as science-fiction movies that spawned a HUGE fan base. Even though I will probably not see them again until the fanbase has died down, I will say that I was hyped to see them when I was little. I saw them and thought they were excellent movies, not knowing how much they were loved by many people.
Fans have been in a love/hate relationship with the franchise. What I mean by that is die-hard fans say they love the original trilogy while they utterly hate the prequel trilogy. Why so much hate for the prequels? I think they are good in their own way, because they did their job of telling a coherent story; the life, death, and rebirth of Anakin Skywalker. The prequel tells how he became Darth Vader, and the original tells of his rebirth. I say it’s a well-paced tragedy, almost Shakespearean (without the use of words that no one knows). Even if you are a fan, and say that the prequel trilogy is a pile of shit, I must ask you to take another look at this trilogy and tell me if there were any aspects of it that you did enjoy.
Growing up as a fan, I can say I had my share of being bullied because I liked Star Wars. It all started in 6th grade for me. I told one of my classmates that I was a fan of Star Wars, they at first didn’t care which was typical for someone who never watched the movies. Then, they told a few other classmates and then the bullying started. They would constantly sing “Star Wars lost the battle”, over and over. It got so annoying, that I just wanted to take out my frustration on them (fortunately I didn’t). I only had a few friends who I could turn to, but they knew what I was going through, because they were fans as well.
After so many years of harboring this secret, I finally said to myself that the time was right for me to spill the beans. The reasons I gave; the hype, the fans love and hate for the movies, and the bullying I endured growing up are all factors in why I feel this way about Star Wars. Now that you know how I feel about this, I hope this will help you understand why.
Next time: 3 things that I still love about the Star Wars Universe. That one will be more positive than this one, I promise.

He was a game reviewer who had a show called "You Can Play This" where he reviewed Japanese import titles that we could play without knowing any Japanese whatsoever. He was a very humble person, I wish I had the chance to meet him in person. The world of game reviewing won't be the same without him. *moment of silence*

Today's Experience :)

I must tell you all about my day. Today, I went to go see a matinee performance of one of the greatest Broadway musicals ever…WICKED!! That’s right, I finally went to see the show, Wicked! ^_^ It was exciting, magical, and thought-provoking. You really see things differently in the World of Oz after you see this show.
The two main cast included; Jennifer DiNola as Elphaba (who played her on Broadway and Chicago after the great Idina Menzel) and Hayley Podschun as Glinda. I loved Jennifer’s performance as Elphie, it’s pretty close to Idina’s performance (in my humble opinion). The sets were extravagant, the music and songs were awesome, and the choreography was pretty good. I’d go over the plot, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. =p
Anyway, I drove up to the Robinson Center Music Hall where it was showing in Little Rock, Arkansas. However, I did not go to the show alone, my cousin came along because she wanted to see the show as well. =) When we got there, we went upstairs and found our seats up in the balcony (we could only spend so much for seats, because of how expensive they were). The First Act finale was just a MILLION TIMES BETTER seeing it live! ^_^ If any of you ever get the chance, I beg you…GO SEE THIS SHOW!!! This is how I would describe my entire experience; When you go in to see the show, you will never be the same coming out.
I must tell you all about my day. Today, I went to go see a matinee performance of one of the greatest Broadway musicals ever…WICKED!! That’s right, I finally went to see the show, Wicked! ^_^ It was exciting, magical, and thought-provoking. You really see things differently in the World of Oz after you see this show.
The two main cast included; Jennifer DiNola as Elphaba (who played her on Broadway and Chicago after the great Idina Menzel) and Hayley Podschun as Glinda. I loved Jennifer’s performance as Elphie, it’s pretty close to Idina’s performance (in my humble opinion). The sets were extravagant, the music and songs were awesome, and the choreography was pretty good. I’d go over the plot, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. =p
Anyway, I drove up to the Robinson Center Music Hall where it was showing in Little Rock, Arkansas. However, I did not go to the show alone, my cousin came along because she wanted to see the show as well. =) When we got there, we went upstairs and found our seats up in the balcony (we could only spend so much for seats, because of how expensive they were). The First Act finale was just a MILLION TIMES BETTER seeing it live! ^_^ If any of you ever get the chance, I beg you…GO SEE THIS SHOW!!! R.I.P. Sugar
General | Posted 12 years agoThis morning, the vet came to my house, and put our good horse, Sugar to sleep. She lived to be 30-years old, that's way past how long horse-owners usually keep theirs, however she started having a number of problems which caused her not to eat as much as she used to; she lost almost all her teeth, she didn't eat all of her food, and just a week ago her leg started hurting to where she couldn't put any weight down on it.
It is sad that we had to put her down, but we didn't want anything worse happening to her; such as her falling down hard, and never be able to get back up, then coyotes would be able to get her. She's been a really good horse for all these years, and it's hard to see her go. ;_;
The vet was kind enough to cut part of her tail hair off and braid it for us to keep. I know I shouldn't be crying because she's leaving, but it's just so hard when you've known someone for so long, and you don't want to part with them. However, I know that she is in a better place, where she isn't suffering anymore, and maybe one day I'll get to see her again. Thank you all for listening, and I want you all to do me a favor. Tell your friends, family, pets, whoever, that you love them and are grateful that you have them in your lives. I'll see you later.

General | Posted 12 years agoFUNimation has announced that they have acquired the rights to some more of Bandai's anime titles, such as Outlaw Star and Escaflowne. However, the big one that a lot of people were hoping for and did in fact happen, they have acquired the rights to Cowboy Bebop (^_^)! I'm very happy to hear this kind of news, because I do not own any of these three titles, but especially for Escaflowne because I have been wanting to get my hands on that anime for a while now. The link below will tell you more titles that they have acquired from Sunrise and Bandai.

Hopefully, they'll keep the original Bandai English dub for each of these series'. Now, I'm still wondering if anyone has acquired the anime title, Wolf's Rain. ALSO!!! For anyone who wondered about the critically-acclaimed movie, Wolf Children, FUNimation has also announced a release date for that movie as well. Got a couple of other questions for anime fans out there, I've gotten an interest in seeing a little "magical girl" anime called "Magical Meow Meow Taruto", has anyone seen that series, and if so, what did you think of it (no spoilers, please). Is it worth picking up? Last question, has anyone seen the "Gunslinger Girl" series, is that worth a watch?

Chris here, and I am back from house-sitting. Whew...! That was the hardest job I've ever taken on, but boy was it worth it. I learned a lot about taking responsibility for myself. Not only did I have to keep the house clean, but take care of the animals, keep the pool clean, and water the potted plants. The dog had a few accidents inside the house, but I managed to get them cleaned up; nothing a good old mop can't fix. Anyway, I am back and I have gone through my entire new messages that were left for me here on FA; over 600 new stuff...WOOF!! O.O
Anyway, I'll talk to you all later when I get settled back into my old house. See ya! X3

General | Posted 12 years agoHey everyone, just wanted to give you all a heads up. My birthday is in less than two weeks away, and I'm a little nervous. When I turn 26, I will be dropped from my parent's insurance. With no job, I can't support myself because I am still living with my parents. I know this is supposed to make me want to get a job even more, but it just infuriates and scares me at the same time.
In other news, I'm a little happy cause hey, it's my birthday. Anything can happen, like for example...today a package came in the mail, a big one. O.O I haven't ordered anything lately, so I thought it was for my mom. I took it inside, inspected it, and found it to be addressed to...me? O.O It was sent to me by
wolfieaaron (yeah, he's still alive and doing well). Inside it was a card wishing me "Happy Birthday" and a gift...a bobble-head toy of Tails! ^_^
I'll put up pictures of it later this week, so you all can see it for yourself. :) Well, just wanted to let everyone know about my birthday coming up. Have an awesome day everyone. ^^
