Wow, a whole lot has changed. My life gets nuttier and more awesome all the time.
Well, me and MOA aren't a thing anymore, for starts. Don't worry, it's cool, we're still tight, it's just that things are changing for both of us.
I'm going to grad school, for one. In SCOTLAND! Yeee! I'm thrilled. My wanderlust can't be ignored anymore, and it's time for new horizons to go with a lot of new ideas in my head and old ideas that I'm finally allowing some breathing space and the light of day.
I might actually scrap this account. Might not, because I still like to come in and see the art from time to time, but I don't really have pals here anymore (even though there are people I'm friendly with), and a lot of my older stuff reflects what feels like a bygone era of me.
Anyway, whatever I decide, it's been sweet. Keep it real, furry folks! :D

Stuff and Drawing!
Posted 17 years agoMy life lately: trying to get into JET program, grad school, write a book, blogging a lot, self discovery adventures, and building what's getting to be the most serious relationship of my life (the kind where we seriously talk sometimes about omg teh M word) with 
Things are a little busy and hectic. I'm still drawing. Actually, my drawing has improved overall, by what I consider a great deal. Still frustratingly not-close to where I want to be, but getting good enough where I am able to do things I want more often and am pleased with my work as often as not. My boyfriend being a drawing instructor and thus having a lot of great advice and encouragement to offer has been a big help with that.
It's not that I don't miss hanging out on art sites. And I loved and have missed the friendliness of the people I have talked to here on FA. I just have a harder time keeping up now, and a harder time posting. My mom's comp is the only one with internet, so it's harder to scan things, which means ultimately harder to upload them, and no tablet so no alterations, just shitty scans... no fun! Plus I really don't want to even TRY to explain this site to my parents, so I only get on after they go to bed. ;)
But I do come around on occasion. And I am trying to upload a few more things. Maybe at some point I can bum some scanner time from MOA's house.
Moving back in with the folks, especially with all your stuff in storage, is kind of rough. I mean, overall, life is great, and this is necessary for the moment, but I sure will be glad to have my own space, my own stuff, and unfettered 'net access again.

Posted 17 years agoIt occurs to me that some of the people I enjoy interacting with here on FA might actually wonder where I am/ have been. So I write this journal.
I mean, I don't have a lot of what I'd consider "close" friendships here, but I would consider some of the peoples I watch and exchange comments with on my page and theirs on what used to be a semi-regular basis to be on the warmer side of acquaintance. After all, art is such a deep part of people. Sharing it together is often a way to start either a friendship or a comfy working relationship (like collabs and funstuff).
SO. I apologize for lack of updating on my whereabouts. I just sort of disappeared for a long while without a boo. That wasn't very nice. Some of you may have wondered.
Anyhow! The wheres and whys: Nope, haven't stopped drawing... I never stop doing that. ^_^ Just can't upload anything, because my scanner is in storage and my computer isn't connected to the internet anyway. I am on my mum's. Yup, moved back in with the folks while I try to secure employment that would allow me to live on my own again, and just try to figure out what, in general, I'm doing with my life.
Things are going very well, actually. Have a part-time job, so the pay is tiny but steady and at least I can pay my student loans with a little luck!
Always looking, interview coming up in a couple of days for a job actually using the skills I trained for at SKEWL! WOOOO. And he actually looked at my resume and mentioned my degree! WHEEEEEEEP!

I finally have the internet again, months later!
My life's been going through some intense changes. I'm in a real transitional period and it's been messin' with me, but for the most part, I cannot complain. I try to maintain my optimism and I do have a great deal to be thankful for.
You still won't see much of me for a bit, both because November is National Novel Writing Month and I'm about 30 pages behind (OUCH), and also because it's gonna take a DECADE to wade through the submissions... I'll probably just purge the journals, sorry guys but YIKES that'sa lotta readin!
But I finally have the net again, and now, I can start looking for Master's programs that cater to the degree I want (Folklore). Yesssss. DELIGHT.

In no particular order, here are the FA/drawing type things I need to get goin' on, and their general status:
ProjektMeg I owe Meg an art trade from quite some time ago, but I know she's taking an internet break for now, and I'm not sure when she'll be back. So that's up in the air for the moment.
Brishelle Another person that I owe an art trade from the same journal "art trades" meme. Looking forward to working with her. Brishelle, if you happen to see this, you never answered my shout... I'll send you a private message in a few days if you don't see this. I'd like to find out what you would like me to draw so I can get started, but if you're too busy for a trade at the moment, I don't mind waiting longer if need be.
Mahdira And, it was gonna be a surprise but I don't want to forget. I'm going to do a little gift art for Mahidra, just because she's nice. ^_^

I will be venting, there will likely be cussing, and I don't even know if it's going to be intelligible much of the time. I might even say some things I really honestly don't mean or believe, just to blow off steam (I'm prone to that when I get worked up enough... don't know if it'll come to that here but it might so I warn in advance). I'll be posting another journal right away to bump this off my page, so that nobody has to be inflicted with it who doesn't good and well want to (masochists and thrill-seekers, I guess). OKAY. YOU WERE WARNED. Those with weak constitutions, run while you still can.
Hokay. So. WHY THE HELL IS THERE NO GOOD STRAIGHT PORN, IN THE WORLD IN GENERAL BUT FA IN PARTICULAR?!!!!!
Now, I like plenty of the art here (don't like plenty, too, but that's the same with everyone). I like the porn stuff, I like the not-porn stuff. Favorite of everything is anything that makes me laugh. Some of the pornographic art is even enjoyable if it doesn't "do it for me" just by virtue of its artistic value or something about it that strikes me. But this rant is about one thing, and one thing only: the sad lack of art here that actually makes me feel the happysexyjoy.
There is exactly ONE artist I know of that draws porn of a loving straight couple (and as a nice bonus, they are both proportioned like actual real people are instead of looking like zombie clones of the same jacked proportions everyone else and their brother always draws). Now, don't get me wrong, she's amazing. I LOVE Touchmybadger's work. But it would be nice to have a source or two other than her, once in a while!!!! I dunno if anyone will read this, and if they do I dunno if they'd bring it up, but I'll say in advance that MOA's porn doesn't count. Most of his porn that I've seen was drawn before he was with me. I mean, it's good and all, but it's not exactly what you'd call gratifying to see a character that you know represents your significant other with women who are not only NOT you, but also not even anything like you. Life's Transitions
Posted 18 years agoWell, so now I'm a quarter of a century old (as of the 21st of April). And today was my last day as an undergrad student. I now have a bachelor's in English, emphasis Creative Writing. My first nephew is on the way, my boyfriend and I are about to celebrate our first anniversary (and even though we've had our share of trials, we're stronger than ever now) and it seems like life just keeps changing, and surging forth, and giving me lots of challenges, and little miracles, and gifts, and surprises good and bad.
My parents got me a guitar for my birthday, which was a wonderful surprise because my dad was very thoughtful to pick that old dream of mine out of a conversation he and I had about music. Maybe someday, you guys can see a YouTube rendition of me playing and singing a song that I wrote. I hope so. Before she died, I promised my little sis Kori that I would put all my songs on a CD for her. She loved to hear me sing. She used to drag her friends up to my room and say "sing so-and-so that song you wrote about the girl with anorexia." That one was her favorite... I found out later she helped a friend of hers cope with her anorexia and eventually overcome it. I'm touched that my song struck such a deep chord in Kori's very real emotional experience.
Someday, I will have a CD made of all my songs. And I am going to name the album for Kori.
Life changes, but some things always stay the same. You grow out of some dreams, and others help you grow. Loved ones die, but love doesn't.
Oh, life! Whatever is in store next? I guess we'll just wait and see.

Zaez and Devante discuss having a chip on one's shoulder due to the world being against you, and they probably get into a battle because they dealt with said chip in opposite ways, and the monkey would probably blow that pop stand so fast because nobody was having fun and they seem dangerous to a small monkey.

Why would we want to save Devante? If he got his ass kidnapped that'd solve a lot of problems for the protagonists in that story... plus, he'd just kill the kidnapper.

2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race?
A sugar glider (Auzzie marsupial related to possums that looks/acts a wee bit like a flying squirrel). Usually she's anthro but she is often just a cute cartoony glider with hair.
3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up?
the lovely dream she was just having... or horrible one, depending on the night. XD
4. Your character's favorite outfit would be?
When you have a gliding membrane, clothes are tough, but when I dress Sug I put her in a tabard. If she's feeling fancy, a bow tied around her tail.
5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?
"golly, I sure do have some big eyes!"
6. Does your character have the same tastes in food as you?
Well, yes. She IS me, pretty much.
7. How is your character similar to you?
Very much. She is what I use to represent myself, she IS myself. Sometimes I even use her as a means of exploring me or parts of me. So while there are things about her that are either exaggerated or downplayed bits of how I am, it all definitely comes in one way or another from me.
8. How is she different?
She can glide. And I do tend to make her an idealized version of me a lot of the time, in terms of both looks and personality. She's kind of the me I am inside as much as the me that I really am.
9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you?
She'd better. In the impossible event that a movie was to be made of her, I wouldn't let 'em use her unless I was the voice. ^_^
10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do as them?
GLIDE! Then glider glomp my bf for sure.
11. Is there something about your character that you don't like how others think of them?
Oddly enough, I sometimes get jealous of her when people say she's pretty. It's like "how is she prettier than me dammit she IS me!" kind of a thing. Very weird. I keep it to myself mostly. It's my own self-image issues lol.
12. What advantages does your character have over you?
LOL. Pretty much all of 'em. Life is totally in my control when it's her life. She isn't assertive because I'm not assertive, but she doesn't NEED to be, because nobody takes advantage of her good nature in the world of my drawings (I've only written a couple little nothin' stories with her so far) or, if they do, it all works out in the end and she's able to become stronger for it, whereas I just kind of keep takin' stuff and almost feel like I have to.
13. What disadvantages?

Sort of.

No, not really. I probably wouldn't either (unless my bf really wanted to do something with her... even then I might object) simply because she's so personal.

That she's cute but overlookable, and that because she likes to be silly and tries to look on the bright side she must be some brainless hippie full of baseless ideals. That she generally should be seen and not heard because her ideas aren't worth much, just like her. Oh, yeah, the same ones everyone always has about ME... including the people closest to me *facepalm* She/I/We have inner depths that remain untapped.... largely because I don't feel it's worth the trouble to take them out if nobody's going to take them seriously, or even truly listen. They're safe and fine sitting on a shelf in my heart, cared for but largely ornamental.
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be?
I wish I loved myself. Not just sometimes, but all the time. That I had a real, healthy self-esteem... it's a constant work in progress for me. I'm actually much better at it now... but Sugar mostly has it down pat. Wish I was where she is.
19. Have you made any characters that go along with yours, based on real-life people, that have the same traits?
Well of course if I have a fursona, I had to create some of my friends to go with me in drawings... and the love of my heart, naturally.

heehee, I wrote a fanfic of the webcomic Carpe Diem with her in it, it's kind of about my own adventures in working out and working on the self.
21. How has your character changed since his/her first creation?
Yes. She's always evolving in design as I get better at drawing and she steps up to meet my needs and my skill level.

17. What misconception(s), if any, do people have about your character?
That she's cute but overlookable, and that because she likes to be silly and tries to look on the bright side she must be some brainless hippie full of baseless ideals. That she generally should be seen and not heard because her ideas aren't worth much, just like her. Oh, yeah, the same ones everyone always has about ME... including the people closest to me *facepalm* She/I/We have inner depths that remain untapped.... largely because I don't feel it's worth the trouble to take them out if nobody's going to take them seriously, or even truly listen. They're safe and fine sitting on a shelf in my heart, cared for but largely ornamental.
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be?
I wish I loved myself. Not just sometimes, but all the time. That I had a real, healthy self-esteem... it's a constant work in progress for me. I'm actually much better at it now... but Sugar mostly has it down pat. Wish I was where she is.
19. Have you made any characters that go along with yours, based on real-life people, that have the same traits?
Well of course if I have a fursona, I had to create some of my friends to go with me in drawings... and the love of my heart, naturally.
20. Have you written any stories about your character?
heehee, I wrote a fanfic of the webcomic Carpe Diem with her in it, it's kind of about my own adventures in working out and working on the self.
21. How has your character changed since his/her first creation?
Yes. She's always evolving in design as I get better at drawing and she steps up to meet my needs and my skill level.
22. Give us a one-liner from her.
"That means you can't kill them, 'cause they're already dead."
23. What's something people would be surprised to learn about your character?
She's got a nasty side. Just like everyone. She may try not to, may feel outrageously, disproportionately guilty when she gets that way but she still can be vindictive, cruel, and catty when she's pushed to it.
24. If you met your character in real life, what would you do with him or her?
I would give her a big hug. Then we'd go create merry havoc. And probably we'd talk for a long time about all the stuff nobody else really seems to care about but us.
