As for why i am posting it in odf format, it's because if i convert it to a txt file the page numbers become different than the odf version. And it's that one I use to write in so if you point something out it just makes it easier to find and correct.

So, what are your plans when over 40% of the workforce is not only unemployed but unemployable?

First off this is not a notice that I am stopping Colonyship, it's just i hit a roadblock and I have put it down to figure it out some more.
I like where it is now and I know where I want to end up going with the story but it is the points in between that I have to figure out.

In the meantime I was inspired to help create a story universe with a friend of mine  seirei-puff .
It is set in the near future, about 2045 to 2050 to start with and it has a sci-fi and advanced genetics focus, I am currently writing a story for it and will at some point later post a bit of introductory information on it.

I already know what I am going to see before I turn my head and glance on over at the source of the disturbance, a calico patterned house-cat bio-worker hastily gathering up all the trays and dishes he dropped.
And to the side the amused looks and laughter of a table filled by just barely teenage boys, boys that just so happened to be watching at the right time to catch what I suspect is a not so accidental fall.
His ears are flat against his head and his tail twitching like mad as he re-stacks the trays he dropped and places the broken plates back into the large container he was carrying on top of the trays.
If I hadn't known better the poor thing was a hairs' breath away from clawing those kids eyes out as they joke at the expense of the creature they just tripped.
Thats the thing with Bio-workers, they are just smart enough to be taught tasks and are at the same time not smart enough to talk or have emotions.
A fantastic feat and a testimony to the technological wonders of the age when it comes to the life sciences.

I was denied unemployment insurance today so i looked up the law that it states. The law lists conditions which automatically disqualify people from getting unemployment.

" (a) If the individual left work voluntarily without good cause attributable to the work or the employer, subject to the other provisions of this subsection (a). Failure to return to work after expiration of approved personal or medical leave, or both, shall be considered a voluntary resignation. After a temporary job assignment, failure of an individual to affirmatively request an additional assignment on the next succeeding workday, if required by the employment agreement, after completion of a given work assignment, shall constitute leaving work voluntarily. The disqualification shall begin the day following the separation and shall continue until after the individual has become reemployed and has had earnings from insured work of at least three times the individual's weekly benefit amount. An individual shall not be disqualified under this subsection (a) if:"

This journal is an apology to someone i hope is still watching me even though the result of what i did resulted in me being put on their block list.

A person that i watched posted a submission that they have a patreon page.
And i posted on it in such a way that i gave the impression that i thought patreon is a scam more of less.
I ended up being wrong as this person actually had a long detailed system in place and that is why i am posting this.
And i stress again that i apologize for my actions.

I do want to explain my reasoning and how i came to a wrong conclusion.

Up to this point i have been seeing watched artist after watched artist posting a submission they have a patreon page and i did not know what that was so i ignored it.
Then i noticed that their submission frequency slowed down, or stopped if they were a infrequent poster.
I noticed the same thing for the many online comics i watch(almost too many, you should see the huge bookmark folder i have..).
That they would upon getting a patreon page go from a regular schedule of updates, to one that was more random or at a single point in a month.
If they were not already a monthly comic.

To add to this i have also seen an uptick in the amount of 'help i need money NOW' journal posts but again i mostly ignored these as this has become a normal occurance here on fur affinity.

But on the day I posted the comment, and followed that by going into discussion hot headed when i should not have.
I learned what patreon 'was' and was kind of disgusted at the thought.

For those of you that don't know it is a website similar to kickstarter in which you 'donate' a set amount of money to the person who set up the page for whatever 'they' set up in levels of support.
Except that instead of a one off payment, your pledging to give them that set amount every month.
Similar to the definition of the word patron and how; kings, noblemen, and clergy used to get art for their castles, palaces, and churches respectively.

And to be honest it irked me a lot, and i falsely jumped to the conclusion that patreon was mostly used by artists to trick people into paying them money in return for short few minute to couple hour sketches a month.
Allowing the ones with a few thousand watchers to, well, not have to worry about working anymore when they have thousands coming in every month assuming the majority of their watchers gave at least 1 dollar.
Adding to this false anger was the recent separation from my last job.

So i wrongly piled onto the person and gave an impression that they were trying to cheat people out of money.
I apologize for that.

I had to put in my two weeks notice on thursday due to an incident that happened at the end of the wednesday shift.
Bullshitter basicly said at the end of the shift that he was 'fucking tired of listening to my shit for music'. Which is by the way mostly video game remix singles and albums dedicated to honoring great games along with some anime soundtracks, tv and movie soundtracks, and a hand full of somewhat mainstream rock tracks. Not all of that was on the device i use to play music at work.

but that is besides the point, he said right then an their that 'I' specifically am no longer allowed to listen to music unless i wear headphones.
The kicker is this is a production environment so any kind of headphones are not allowed.
The other production member got no such talking too, so i did go home pretty pissed off that a rule was put in place only to target me.
I then got into contact with the manager above him, and in hindsight should of expected his answer because this guy has stated he would quit before firing bullshitter and is friends with him and the former owner who is this upper manager's dad.
He stated that he would support what bullshitter said no matter what because he is overseer of all production.

I have gone through similar targeted discriminatory action in the past and at that time i put up with it and things went on till i did something very stupid and got myself fired.
I did not want this to happen again, so as i said i put in my two weeks notice which of course.. involved calling up the bastard and telling him.

To follow up I wrote and then printed in triplicate a 'written' notice of my intention of quitting. I have a copy, gave a copy officially at work, and then handed one to a person at the place i trust to keep safe in case work says 'we received no such notice.'

Which considering what happens next I think may happen.

So i go into work, place the notice on the desk of the only other manager on duty and is head of Quality Control and despite at least currently no longer being above bullshitter was considered as such before as she was the next person to go to other than the ex-owners son who was not even there that early in the morning.
So she called me into her office and wanted to know why.
I explained to her what happened and she completely understands and is also not happy with bullshitter.
I also learn at that moment that at some point in the evening bullshitter and the ex owners son had talked to each other.
the personal rule against me was 'replaced' with a blanket ban, and a bit later after 'that' i was told by the ex-owners son that while he viewed my reaction to the blanket rule being put into place as 'overblown' (hinting at childishness) but saying he would honor the notice only as far as the end of the pay period(the 29th).
Which is understandable otherwise they have to go through all the trouble to cut a check for a day or two of work.

They then proceeded to make it clear that I can now only take out trash, stack boxes on pallets, and take out cardboard or label and work the ever living hell out of me to the point i came home last night with mild heat exhaustion.

the place is kept between 85 and 90 inside in the summer due to some products, one big fan provides the majority of the non air con cooling in the production area. Bullshitter purposefully set the pace of work that i could at most get a short few seconds of time in front of it to cool off for every few minutes of work.
Unless he himself did not have things to pack otherwise he just gave me the evil eye like he normally does.
This is also despite the fact i drank a lot of water.

Well i have been writing the next part of colonyship with this one it should tie a little bit more into the chakat universe.

Other than that this is a time i wish i knew how to draw because their is a picture i would of loved to post..

One half would be what the ideal picture of being on a job search is portrayed as being, you and the potential employer discussing the position.
You giving them your job history and qualifications, them giving you more information about the job than what was posted on the help wanted listing.
Equal partners where one is willing to exchange time and labor for pay while the other is willing to accept said labor assuming that you understand that you must meet their qualifications.

Then right below it the actual reality of said job search, or how it at least feels to the person doing it.
You standing naked on an elevated platform shoulder to shoulder with all the other applicants.
Like the old time slave trade stores as your potential employer walks down the line and examines each of you like a horse.
All the while he is saying that you should be happy with what I give you and if you're not I can just give it to the person to your left or right.
Meanwhile a person in a uniform of one of the many 'temp' agencies tries to sway his attention by telling him he can give him workers without the paper-work.
Employees where he would not have to worry about silly things such as benefits, fair pay, safety requirements and even the minimal paperwork for hiring or firing.

Just got back this weekend from a week long vacation just hanging out with a close friend of mine living out of state.
I go back to work tomorrow and to tell you the truth i am not to happy with the job anymore and i have decided to look elsewhere for employment.
Mainly for better pay and possibly for being more friendly to continuing education, 10 hour work days leave me too exhausted and with too little time to do anything on the working week-days..

Not to mention the place seems to be failing even though it's been getting more work done than ever.
Mostly internal politics and i will leave it with the following;

they promoted a highschool drop out into a managers position over a line he doesn't know how to run and has not run before.

And another manager who is posting work to do as it comes in rather than in a way that minimizes line retooling down time leading to periods of 'oh shit this has to be done NOW, do we have enough of x, y, and z? no? shit *rush order or sending someone out to grab it from the in city source.*' right after periods of not having enough stuff to work on.

I am not the only one looking for work and i wonder what the second manager mentioned above reaction would be when he learns his entire production team moves on when they find a better position.

The next installment of the Pokemon / Beast wars is done being written, I just need to go through it editing wise and then i will post it.
After that I will work on the next installment of the colonyship series.

The oculus rift is an in development stereoscopic headset meant to produce a virtual reality like experience in gaming.
At least that was the goal before it was bought.
Considering the company facebook since it's IPO has been more or less struggling to make money for it's investors there is no way in the universe that they will not change this.
Especially due to the 2 BILLION dollar price tag.

So what should you and i expect? Here is a short list that comes to mind.

1. Facebook account will be mandatory for use.

2. When you play games with the rift your activity will be monitored by facebook's servers in the background to sell the statistical data to marketers.

3. In the foreground when you play a game with achievements(or similar awards) you will be prompted if you would to 'update your facebook page' with an announcement of you achieving one.

4. Facebook games like farmville will be updated to take advantage of the Oculus Rift, prompting anyone who wants to play it to buy one. Similar to how nintendo handles wii and wii-u remote accessories.

5. Facebook will release a skype clone using the device and try to make it legitimate when everyone knows that it is used for cybering.

You're ruining it for everyone else who actually uses the hardware for what it is intended for, gaming!
Right now the graphics card I am looking at for my multi-year upgrade has a $250-$300 markup on what it originally launched as($500~)!
Not to mention it's bleeding down to the lower tier cards adding as much as $100!

I am not stopping the Colonyship story.
I am just going to be alternating between it and the Lost Arrow series, I am a transformers fan and I think I have the skills now to give the idea a life. As poor as they seem to me at the moment.
The next part is partially written and I know what i want in it, just the matter of writing it and then making it look presentable.

Part of me is amazed that i am actually this old, yet i am in a situation that most people would consider a failure.
​I went to college but did not get into the field I wanted to, computers, and ended up a lowly warehouse worker.
​I still live at home in a room i built myself but i realize that i must eventually move out to an apartment that may end up being smaller than this room

There is also the fact i sorely miss the whole gift aspect of birthdays, even though i can understand it.

Who ever said anime was more expensive than crack, never bought any hardware...

I am still working on the next installment, I know it is said to write and post often for attention on F.A. Meaning multiple posts within a month, but I neither have the time nor experience to do it that often.
Please bare with me as it will be finished when i can finish it.

I got an email this morning, turns out those people like me who pre ordered the open pandora back in 2007-8 were scammed.
Well most of them anyway.
The email is from the person who runs a hobbyist website and store where you were able to pre order it, he was part of the team.
Other than the fraction of the money from the pre-orders that were used to produce a few units, it turns out i was right in thinking they took pre order money and then promptly 'forgot' about some of the pre-orders so they could pocket it.

I have already long since given up any thought of getting my hands on it, and I should of seen it was too good to be true to begin with..
Looking back at all the delays and inept handling of the situation i can see though they, openpandora ltd, never intended on doing what they said.

According to the email, well over 500 pre orders were never filled. And I suspect they had no intention of fulfilling.

The person then gave me a choice, I can pay 100 to 300 MORE to get one of the original returned units or a clock speed increased one or for free wait for a possible later one..
Chose the option that means no more money goes to these jokers.

So far I am still having some bleeding but what surprises me is that I am not in too much pain if any at all.
Still too early to tell if it has improved my breathing, kind of stuffed from dried blood and junk.
But my upper teeth do not hurt so I am not limited to liquid and soft foods like before.
Not allowed to drive or I would of gone to pick up my normal saturday lunch same with lifting and bending.

I will be having surgery to possibly correct the damage done to my sinuses that the benign tumor did back in 2009.
I say possibly because there is no way to tell how well it went till after it heals :(.

For the past week I have been on vacation with a close friend, I have been looking forward to this visit for 2 years.
I will get back to writing within the next day or so, Just a little down that I won't see him for another year in person.

The title says it all.
Last Friday morning we had one hell of a thunderstorm roll through the plains of Kansas where I lived.
I was getting ready for work, and at about 540ish am I am hearing this trickling sound.
Now one of the two pet cats I live with was down here, and I thought.

'Great, why are pissing down here and not in your litter.'

So I turn around from where I am sitting in my basement room.
Low and behold, the rain is coming down SO fast, that combined with the debris in the window well.
It actually filled it up to the point that the water was pushing in via the seals on the window it's SELF.
The cat was staring like the wall had come alive.

I panicked. :(

If I didn't I would of made a dam out of old clothing and towels along the edge of the tiled area, I didn't.
I just through a bunch of them up there, then on the floor, then woke mother.
After that it started coming in via the other window.
We then continued this till the storm stopped at about 6:20ish

End result?

About a 5 foot by 8 foot big section of soaked carpet in front of the tiled area, a smaller one foot by 1 and 1/2 foot one on the side and a 2 foot by about 3 to 4 foot one under the other window.

Okay so I get to cleaning it up with a wet dry Vac, then fans.
Then as I am getting ready to go to work, Boom, the power goes out.

Lovely.

That further slows my preparation to get to work.
Also it meant the fans stayed off for however long the power was out.

All in all I got into work about an hour and a half late, which was okay because I called the boss right after I woke mother.
But a couple of the other coworkers were not too happy about my absence..
At least it was the last day of that jackass at work who liked to give me trouble.

So I am out that money, but my day doesn't end there.
Not by a long shot.

It's payday and I had to spend what out of it what I was going to save on things I did not want to buy, but needed.
A new box fan, Window well covers that $20~ bucks a piece because the cheaper ones home depot had were too cracked to work.
Mother says she will repay me for this, I doubt it.
Caulk to reseal the windows.

Then when I get home I spend hours using towels to blot up as much water as I can from the carpeting.
I got tired of listening to the music on my phone, So I go to turn on my main computer.
All I got was silence.
It seems Dracoscale, the name I gave it, decided it was time to have it's power supply fail.

So then it was a mad dash to best buy, the only place open at 8pm, to grab one.
$80+ dollars I did not want to spend getting a replacement that is a slight upgrade.
I then spent the rest of the night both installing that, and further blotting up more water.

Which then was what I did for a little bit on and off today.
In between caulking the windows, and being invited out to see 'after earth' by a friend.

So now my room smells like wet carpet, I have torn off trim/molding to make sure the drywall is okay.
It is as far as I can tell.
And if anything further goes wrong, I am going to have to empty this room, tear up the carpet and the wall and replace them.

But there is no where else in the house for me to sleep.

Concept one:

A survivor of a catastrophic system failure has his/her escape pod picked up by the automated systems of a 'massive' colony ship.
The colony ship is seven 100 by 100 mile solid asteroids hollowed out and transformed into the seven most biodiversity rich environments from the planet the ship is from.
Plains, Forests, Jungle, Desert, Tundra/permafrost, Mountain/valley, and in the center Ocean.
Inside the person encounters the descendants of the original colonists who have devolved in technology and society to a more middle ages lifestyle.
The ship it's self is on a course for a recently colonized planet by the federation for its mineral wealth and being, possibly, one of the testing ground planets for the stellar fox-taurs.
It is not known that it is heading there due to it approaching from a minimally observed direction.

Concept two:

Not as well thought out as the first, but i figure it might be fun.
Kind of using the whole 'holodeck malfunction' trope.
A software development firm on a station decides to revive a popular game series from the pre-gene wars era. Only getting a little bit more than they bargained for when they try to make it a bit more realistic and faithful to the original.
The creation escapes the holodeck systems, takes over the station and someone from the outside has to go in and stop it.

Made it look like a bit like an old game series.
