I know it seems rather out of the blue, but certain circumstances and things are such that I'm going to be moving myself to a new account/username on FA (and possible DA) in the next week or so. Just a little heads up to everyone who's watching me - hopefully you'll all come find me when I get around to making a new account :) (Will update with this info once its set) I will be moving some images to the thus far non-existent new account, and possibly deleting some here.
Other than that.. in the middle of finals week. But yeah, spring break project = redoing a lot of stuff and doing a website.
Note to those who are commissioning me: This will not change anything about the commissions. I will be working on them starting Friday and will do my best to get them done in a timely manner!

Snowing.. in SANTA CRUZ ?!

I am currently living in SC which for anyone who is not familiar with the climate/geography is an extremely temperate/moderate climate, at sea level and right along the pacific ocean. It is usually between 40-80 year round and rains a lot.
But snow? no.
But yes!! It's snowed in the area twice in the last two week AND today it snowed at my house which is maybe a 10 minute drive to the BEACH. That's crazy. XD
Anywho - on to work on more homework.

Avatar Fanfiction and Back to School
Posted 15 years agoWell, as the title indicates, I have started to write an Avatar fanfiction which will likely end up being a massive project, but should be of interest to people who are big fans of the movie (which, I know there are a number of who frequent my gallery ;) you know who you are). I'm estimating that this will end up being about two stories in one, and may take me three years to finish.

Anyone interested in some art?
Posted 15 years agoMy family is moving soon, and since Im in college, I need to get rid of some of my stuff. I'll be posting pictures in their own gallery folder soon that will be up for sale (CHEAP too btw.. not as expensive as my commissions, although most of them had many hours put into them).

Posted 15 years agoOkay so I just settled down, after taking a few hours to relax, thinking "I'll work on commissions now that I have time", I pull out my tablet and..... I forgot to pack my tablet pen. Grawr.... I have a whole week and I cant do any digital arts!!!! :(
I should have a few days to work on stuff when I go back to school before classes really get started up again, but a big apology to everyone who I promised commission works for this week. I do intend to do sketches/scans ect, so you'll probably see some nice-quality traditional work from me!
ALSO - there are a LOT of you who never got back to me about commissions - email me info, and I'll get started...as soon as I can get my tablet pen.

Or maybe its because the results are rather lame. You cant be in any other position then looking directly at the camera and it isnt too pretty when they move around a little. It also makes everyone look like a Jake or Neytiri carbon copy.

Its ridiculous that it isnt already. I care more about the tax revenue than wanting it for myself (not exactly hard to come by in Santa Cruz XD )

It isnt "wrong". We're all immigrants, so it's rather stupid to say "get outta my country", especially when many of them WERE here first. We need to figure out how we're managing all of this though.

If she's already had the baby, then its really up to her parents. I'd say she should put it up for adoption, but some people can make it work.

A note about the Na'vi Pictures
Posted 15 years agoI'm going to send this to the people commissioning me... but this is important I think for anyone interested in attempting it themsevles as well.
How to make it easier for me (and result in a prettier picture):
- Use natural lighting, or a lot of regular lighting. The Na'vi live in nature, not in a house. This is especially important if you want me to photoshop in a background. That takes a lot of time, and it will not look realistic. Each of my test pictures have been taken under pretty good lighting conditions (except perhaps Voltx'e)
- Use a decent camera! Please don't use a web-cam unless it is your last resort. I used my iPhone camera for all of these, so you dont have to go out and buy some fancy thing for this, just use a camera that gives you a nice picture. ALso, give me something big to work with. A tiny picture will not work well. The size Ive been working with is usually at least 600x800. Bigger = better.
- If possible, take your picture in front of the background you want me to use. The lighting will work a lot better, you wont have those ugly erase lines and I wont have to add shadows or highlights. Trust me, the less I have to mes with contrast the better it will look!
-As far as positioning goes, do your best to look mostly straight into the camera. I havent attempted modeling a profile shot yet, and I dont want to test it out on a commission. If you really want me to, I will try, but I dont know how pretty it will be. Really, you can vary it a bit, but also avoid looking at the camera with your head pointed down.
- Let me know if there are special features you want your Avatar to have, and what you would like me to do! The price listed ($12) applies to headshots that includes neck and some of the shoulders. If you want more of the body showing it is going to cost more. I usually dont' ask for money up-front, but for these I think I'll need to.

So school is starting again, and I'll be very very busy in the coming months. I hope to do at least a little more art that I had been last quarter, but it isn't looking to be too terribly likely. Still no easily accessible scanner and time is really a big constraint.
Meanwhile, I am totally obsessed with AVATAR and the Na'vi. :3 (Kaltxi!)
