My conundrum with fur cons (NEED SOME CON-GOER'S ADVICE)
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm not really one for 'real talk' journals, and I don't really think this is, but it's something that's been eating away at me for a while. If you're a con-goer and got a few minutes to hear me out, any advice would be greatly appreciated ^^.
I've had a few people ask me lately if I plan on attending cons and I've replied with a lot of 'maybes' and 'probably nots'. The subject of cons is a weird one for me because despite being in this fandom for quite some time now, I've never really been in a convention setting for extended periods of time. From the stories I hear about cons, I'm really not sure that I would enjoy myself; I'm not an overly social person and I'm not really a fan of partying. Don't get me wrong, there are people I would really like to meet, the problem being most of them make it out to the big cons like AC or MFF and I really can't justify spending so much money on traveling and hotels for a quick hi/bye with people and being bored the rest of the time. Plus I've heard from different people that big cons aren't exactly the best place to start for a first timer.
So that led me to the obvious idea: Furnal Equinox. It isn't a huge con and it's practically in my backyard, so it isn't a huge loss if I just want to go home. The problem with FE is that I'm really not familiar with the community locally and only really have acquaintances that would be going, or the people that I do know would be too busy. I feel as if, again, I would just have a quick hi/bye with people and that would be it; nobody to really hang out with. So this is where I'm at, but then again maybe I'm just being pessimistic, after all I've never been to a con and I may have a blast. So yeah, if any con-goers have any advice for me, I'd really appreciate it ^.=.^

General | Posted 11 years agoI really want to apologize for how cold or uninterested I can come off sometimes. After having a very difficult weekend, I've realized that I have extreme social anxiety issues. It's something I've struggled with for years and it can make me into seem uninterested or unapproachable, but really I'm scared to death of social interactions; it's something I really want to get a hold of. So basically what I'm trying to say is thanks for putting up with the bullshit and I'm sorry if I've ever come off as something I don't intend to be.

Getting pumped to see my boy Roman Reigns clobber Randy Orton tonight and it would be nice to see Bray Wyatt and family take out John Cena in a last man standing match. I'm also really hoping for some surprise appearances from Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam since I missed them last time.

Rasslin' + Concerts + NYC + Moving = a busy summer!
General | Posted 11 years agoSo sure, summer has technically been since the beginning of May for me, but now that June is officially upon us (as it has been for the last week basically), summer fun officially begins! (in between working 5 days a week -_-).
First off, something which was sort of spur of the moment, but I'm headed to a WWE live show at the beginning of July. I've found myself slowly getting back into it since it seems like some of the old faces I used to remember from years ago are coming back and some of the newer guys (I'm looking at you Wyatt Family) are actually starting to get me interested again. So it's been 4 years since I last went to a live show, so it should be a blast! And practically ringside seats too!
As far as concerts go, I'm as busy as ever as well, having at least one show per month until October, all of which I'm really excited to see:
June - Meshuggah/Between The Buried and Me
July - Rockstar Mayhem Festival (we're there for Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, and Cannibal Corpse)
August - Apocalyptica
September - Sonata Arctica/Delain/Xandria
October - Amon Amarth/Sabaton/Skeletonwitch, Eluveitie/Tyr/Metsatoll
And of course, I've still got our plans for New York City coming up in July which I'm sooooooooooo excited for! Our hotel is apparently right in Times Square so we'll have the full blown Manhattan experience the whole time. Still not quite sure what we're gonna do yet other than the obvious tourist type stuff, but if you've been there and have any suggestions on what to do, I'd love to hear.
And at the end, we had it confirmed today that kodisnowpup and I will be finally getting our own apartment come September. Still in the same building but it'll be the first place we've lived without roommates which will be nice, we'll also be on a higher floor which will be cool as well :3.
So yeah, busy summer is busy. But I'm hoping to find some time to fit some doodling and recording in there somewhere between the chaos :P

Back from the States + REALLY exciting news! :D
General | Posted 11 years agoSo it only took 21 and a half years but I FINALLY had a chance to go to New York state for the day. Not exactly a huge deal but it is the first time I've ever set foot out of Canada and only my third time setting foot out of Ontario. Now onto the more exciting news, I heard that we are heading to NYC for a few days at the end of July for my brother's birthday, and then coming back to Toronto to see Avenged Sevenfold later in the week! Super stoked! :D

General | Posted 11 years agoNot that anybody reads my journals anyway, but if anyone's curious why I've been not very talkative on Skype or whatever I've basically had school on my ass for the past 2 months. First a huge wave of assignments, and now a barrage of exams which I've been using a majority of my time studying for. I'm hoping after next week things should be getting back to normal and I hopefully will be posting some more new art and music soon; the creative juices are flowing, just not enough time to do anything with them lately :/. But anywho, back to studying...
