Commissions open. (FN only)
General | Posted 8 years agoAfter a very long hiatus, I've finally been finding a decent rhythm with my writing. Simultaneously, FurryNetwork needed content creators to help test out its very shiny new in-house commission system.
Of course, this means that I am opening for story commissions!
Because I am doing this to help FurryNetwork, commissions will only be available through FN. The commission system they're launching is intriguing, and it facilitates the commission process to make sure the commissioner gets what he or she paid for, and the artist gets what he or she is owed. FN is still in beta and this is the first time the commission system is being used, but it's worth checking out.

General | Posted 9 years agoHey there!
So there's someone I owe a commission to. To that person, I'm nearly done!
I've been starting up a nice flow with my writing again, much more consistently than over the past year. 2016 pulled no punches on me.
Because of that, I'm glad to announce that FurryNetwork will be testing out its upcoming in-house commission system in the next few weeks here and I'm one of the artists that will be offering commissions to help them out!
So how about it? Want an awesome story commission? Stay tuned and keep an eye on FurryNetwork's blog to see when the new commission system testing will begin.

General | Posted 9 years ago2016 is on its way out the door, and things are already starting to look up.
I had an incredible time at Midwest FurFest. I have a job that I hate, but it's still a job, my credit score is making its way back to normal, and my bills are finally current, and now I can start working on climbing up to where I should have been when I graduated college. I can't complain about the relationships I have, and I'm looking forward to finding someone that I can seriously be with. I'm growing well within a community I enjoy, and outside of it as well, and regardless of who's president I'm planning to fight for the ability to look back on December 31, 2017 and say I had an amazing year.
You should do the same. It surprised me that 2016 turned out to be a terrible year for so many people, though as I write this I guess I realize that every year can be a bad year for someone. Either way, now's about the time we start thinking of resolutions we can't keep. One for me is to have a fursuit commissioned by the end of the year. That aside, I just want to encourage everyone who reads this to do everything your power to have a wonderful year. Work for it. Don't shirk your responsibilities, don't turn down what you know you need to do, but also don't turn down an opportunity to stop and smell the roses.

Hello, 2017.
I'm still fighting.
General | Posted 9 years agoThis year has been horrible for me.
I had to struggle to get a new car after my accident in December last year.
I got fired from a job that I loved, for something I did not do.
I went through a stressful, painful relationship that somehow still manages to affect my life though it has been over for months.
I struggled to find a steady job, and went through two jobs that promised me the world but ultimately wasted my time.
I failed to find gainful work in time to room with one of my best friends.
I fell drastically behind on my bills, and my credit score dropped like a stone in the Pacific.
I got a speeding ticket in Georgia that the state made worse by not telling me accurately when it was due and charging me 130 dollars extra when I found out too late.
I lost a lot of money I didn't have to overdraft and late fees, my bank account reaching or passing -$500 (Yes, NEGATIVE 500 DOLLARS) twice.
Yet I'm still here. I found a job, and it's not what I went to college for, and not where I want to be. I'm not even sure I'm happy with it, but I can do it and it's paying me enough. I'm on plans to get my debts back in the black and begin recovering my credit score. Once that happens I can afford rent with some roommates again. With the generosity and help of friends, of my mom, and the generosity of companies such as JP Morgan Chase bank, Citibank, 5/3, and a few others, I'm recovering. I have a plan and I've started looking at different doors to put myself in a better place long term, in a career that I know I deserve.
Before this, I had one really bad year in 2009, which also saw a car accident and a speeding ticket and the loss of a job (ironically at the very same company I lost a job at this year). This year was another level. This year kicked my fuzzy black-and-white butt. It was my worst year ever, and I'm blessed that these were my issues instead of the horrors some people in this world have to go through for a lot longer than this, but it was definitely my worst year ever. Still, I kept fighting, and I'm still fighting, because I still have a long way to go to get where I need to be. If I stay the course for awhile and work my way back up, I can get to somewhere really great. 2016 sucked, but 2017 is almost here, and when it comes, 2016 won't matter anymore. 2016 will be nothing but a past that I learn from, that I jump off of to reach whatever heights I'm meant to reach.
My point is, don't stop fighting. Life can really weigh on you, and perhaps my troubles this year seem petty to some of you who read this, but every tunnel has a beginning and every tunnel has an end. Fight to breathe the fresh air waiting for you on the other side. Don't give up, because whatever happens, you will eventually find yourself on the other side looking back at the hell you've been through and realizing just how much stronger you are now, and just how open and ready the road is before you. Hold onto the courage and will to get there, and have the courage and will to take that road to whatever greatness it leads you to.
I did it. So can you.

Where to find 12
General | Posted 9 years agoYoh!
I don't know how necessary it is, but everyone's posting these journals because of the FA attack. Honestly, I don't think attacks on FA will be frequent, so "jumping ship" isn't necessary. That said, I'm a huge supporter of FurryNetwork because it's a new site built to support a lot more features, that listens to its users and reacts quickly to feedback and has an interesting vision of what a furry art community should be. You can find me there and in a few other places!

Birthday lion!
General | Posted 9 years agoI'm 26 today! <:D Yup. On the road to 30. xD
I'm really happy to have people who are genuinely interested in celebrating my birthday with me. I appreciate that a lot! Looking forward to another year of friends and fun and furries. :3

FWA
General | Posted 9 years agoSo my FWA was really eventful. There was kind of a pall of drama over it... but overall I met some interesting people, connected with good friends, and saw an absolutely beautiful hotel. I started making Vines for the first time, furthered my interest in becoming a dancer fur, and started entertaining the idea of doing staff for FWA next year.
Boneitis posted a journal showing concern for the ghosting situation over at FWA and how it affected sales in the Dealer's Den. My input was as follows. It's blunt, but polite and honest!
Twelve wrote:Before you read my input, you should know that FWA was only my third furry convention ever, preceded by Midwest FurFest 2015 and Megaplex 2015.
I have had some people describe FWA to me as a "party con." It doesn't seem to be about the planned activities of the con itself, but more about the room parties and personal interactions. The only checkpoints that require a badge at FWA are events in the Marquis Ballroom and in the Programming rooms, and SOMETIMES the dealer's den. The problem with this is that FWA does not seem to have much in the way of programming compared to cons like MFF and Megaplex. There were very few community-led panels. There were a few about fursuiting, one about how to DJ and produce music, one about personal finance, one about tasting, and that's mostly it. Beyond those you only had the big events like Floor Wars, the dance competition, Dad's Garage improv, the fursuit games. If you look at MFF 2015, however, there were something like 300 different panels throughout the weekend, and MFF started a day later in the week than FWA. There was much more there that people wanted to do that required them to have a badge. For Megaplex, you had to have a badge to even get into the convention area at all.
A friend of mine told me that despite the fact that he bought a badge for FWA, he only used it once the entire weekend. Though it was my first FWA and I let myself get caught in the atmosphere of it all, there were definitely times when I didn't have something I really wanted to do, and times when I went to a panel because I "might as well" rather than because I actually wanted to go.
In summary, I believe FWA was ghosted so hard because it's an utterly ghostable con. Compared to other cons, the programming seems weak, and it seems as though more people are interested in socializing on their own than participating in scheduled events. An FWA attendee can enjoy the con to his satisfaction without attending a single scheduled event and not feel like he's missing out. That doesn't make it right to ghost, and there's a whole ethical discussion in there, but to discourage ghosting at its core, FWA needs to give people reasons not to ghost. It really needs to create programming that is engaging and that people want to go to, and then make sure that everyone going has a badge. They need to make people without badges feel like they're missing out, and make sure the star of the con is the con itself, and not the things people do on their own.
Add to this that eventually there was a checkpoint at the dealer's den and you know why sales slowed down. xD
It's just my uneducated input, but I hope it makes sense.
Honestly, I don't know everything about how cons run, but from my perspective that's how things seemed. That's part of why I hope to be part of the staff. I'd love to be part of the team that helps make it, whatever it is, better.
I spent a lot of time with
MysteryPaws,
NekoHaiku,
DawnyFawnyDeer,
GermanPanzer,
Rhinowolf,
Senshine,
Umblada, Frost,
ZoeZamora, and more fuzzies. I got to meet Candy Cotton,
ShyyBunny,
Atsufawx,
MatthewB,
Asiri,
wizerdwolf,
rockstarking, Dash Tiger,
WolfpupTK, and many more fun people. Ate at the Metro Diner, and various places at the sky mall thing (especially Moe's). Loved Floor Wars and the dance comp, as usual, and had fun helping out in the fursuit games.
Anthrocon is next in the plans, and it's my first one!

I'm not alright... but I will be.
General | Posted 9 years agoA lot of stuff has been going on in my life. I've lost a lot over the past few months and gained very little. Over FWA weekend I lost someone really important to me (a separation, not a death). A lot of healing and change needs to happen. And meanwhile I'm still desperate for a job... and if I can't find one under my degree I'll have to go back to something basic, which really sucks... but you do what you've got to do.
Anyway. I try not to complain too much, but things haven't really been great for me for awhile. Compared to many people in this world I really have nothing to complain about. I know this, but it still sucks. I appreciate those who have heard me out and been there for me, or tried to, and I'm sorry to those who have tried and I haven't gotten back to them. I'll be okay. In the grand scheme of what my life is going to be, a few months of suck isn't much to worry about. I'm just taking things one step at a time.
Thanks for being patient with me. :3

FWA Interview Meme!
General | Posted 9 years agoStolen from no one. I'm writing this myself! I originally published it December 25, 2015 because I was bored and excited about the con. :3
S'cuse me, sir! Can you tell me who and what you are?
Oh, yes. My name's 12, and I'm a lion.
Camp Furry Weekend Atlanta begins on March 31, and you're going. Where will you be staying?
I'll be at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. It's the main hotel for the con!
Are you rooming with anyone?
Yep!
herohusky,
germanpanzer, and
rhinowolf.
And you're arriving on which day?
Wednesday, the 30th. I don't want to miss out on anything, and it's nice to have time to settle in.
When are you leaving?
Monday, the 4th of April, when things are nice and depressing.
Are you an artist of any kind, including a writer, fursuit builder, or a musician? If so, will you be in the Dealer's Den, or otherwise offering commissions?
I'm a writer, but I won't be in the dealer's den or offering commissions in any special way at the con as far as I know.
Can other fuzzies hang out with you?
Absolutely!
How do they find you? What do you look like?
They can contact me on Twitter @byTwelve, on Telegram @Find12, or right here. I don't have a fursuit, so I'm not that easy to spot, but if you message me we can meet up. Other than that, I'm 25, 6'7", bald, and have a weird name.
Are you a fursuiter? If so, which fursuits do you plan to wear at FWA?
I... No, I just said that. Not yet. I hope to be by the time MFF 2016 rolls around. That con just might be 12's in-suit con debut!
Is it okay for people to walk up and talk to you?
Sure! I love meeting new people.
Do you mind if people hug you or touch you?
I love hugs, but for any other sort of contact I can only advise them to use their common sense.
What if they bought you a drink, or a gift?
Well, I don't really drink much as far as alcohol, but if it's tame (or non-alcoholic entirely) and things stay friendly, and there aren't any odd motives behind a gift, why not?
Do you mind spending time with or eating with them?
Definitely not! Come along for noms!
Where are you most excited about eating in Atlanta?
I don't really know what restaurants are there. It'd be nice to grab a pizza. If not, I'm sure I'll find some other fuzzies who want to go somewhere nice.
How about pictures?
I love to take pictures with people! Just let me know you're taking it, please.
Is this your first FWA?
It sure is!
Excluding FWA 2016, which furry cons have you been to so far?
This is going to be my third furry con, following Megaplex and MFF in 2015.
Which people are you most looking forward to meeting at FWA?
Wow, I... I don't know! I haven't been to many cons, and I don't know all that many furries, or which ones are all going. It'd be nice to meet Uncle Kage again or Telephone or something but I'm totally open to meeting anyone! I will add that I missed meeting
WolfPupTK at MFF so if he ends up at FWA this year and I spot him I'm definitely saying hi.
What are you hoping to experience in terms of panels, entertainment, and other things that the con itself offers?
Dance competitions have been my favorite parts of the furry cons I've been to so far. I'm eager to see what FWA's dances and dance comps are like. I'm also looking forward to learning about the charity, and I'd like to attend a few fursuiting panels. I don't know if
Skroy,
reccasenli, or
RottenRobbie are going but I'd love to attend one of their DJ sets too.
Do you plan to participate in any panels (dance competition, improv, karaoke, etc.)?
I'm saving dance comps and Floor Wars for when I'm more practiced and have a fursuit. Karaoke, if I can work up the courage. Improv, heck yes. As for anything else, we'll see! I'd like to participate as much as I can.
Is there anything special that you would like to experience on your own, and do you have any personal (or not-so-personal) goals for FWA?
Well, I'd love to have a look at the Coke museum if I get a chance, but other than that I'm open to anything. As for personal goals, I really want to continue coming out of my shell where dancing and/or singing is concerned. MFF coaxed me out a bit. I'm hoping FWA will coax me out a bit more. Also, I want to hang out with some new people and make some new friends.
The theme this year is Camp Furry Weekend. Can you give us a peek at what you'll be doing to participate in this theme?
I probably won't be participating, other than my bringing an air mattress for someone in my room to sleep on. Possibly me.
Do you plan to purchase a sponsorship level for FWA? If so, which sponsorship level do you plan to purchase, and what inspires you to purchase it?
I would LOVE to, but money.
Say you find yourself available to go do something fun, and you come across a number of other fuzzies who are also up for anything. What do you suggest for everyone to do?
Let's go eat!
Open mic time. Is there anything more you'd like to say about FWA?
It's my first FWA and I'm really psyched. Looking forward to FWA helped me get over the PCD from MFF, and I know it's going to be a blast. I hope to see you guys there!

RottenRobbie are going but I'd love to attend one of their DJ sets too.Do you plan to participate in any panels (dance competition, improv, karaoke, etc.)?
New Twitter?
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm thinking of changing my Twitter handle. Right now it's byTwelve, and I'm not a fan of that. A lot of my top picks have been taken by dead accounts (of course) so I'm not left with much. I can't decide what I want for sure. Can you help me out?

General | Posted 10 years agoThere aren't really a lot of people I can talk to about this. In fact I think there are exactly three. It's not necessarily for lack of trust, but because out of respect for what I thought someone else wanted it's something I've mostly been keeping to myself. That's why I've got such a weird title to this. Even of my relatively meager number of followers I'm in some ways hoping it doesn't get clicked that much. Even though I don't feel I can tell you why at the moment, I'm hurting a lot right now, and I could just really use whatever virtual hugs, etc. you've got. Honestly I don't know why I'm even writing this in a journal, but... there it is.
I got in a car accident
General | Posted 10 years agoMy poor car is in a towing yard. :( He's injured, but thankfully he kept me safe. I'm completely unharmed, except for a shoulder that's a little sore from the seat belt.
I've never been in a big car accident before. No one got hurt. Nothing was totaled. Still, I'm shaken, and the whole ordeal is going to cost money I know I don't have.
*sigh*

My status
General | Posted 10 years agoSo on October 6, something pretty big happened. I got in a huge fight with my mom, who I've had little choice but to live with since graduating college last year. I'm hoping that will soon change. I ended up sleeping in my car that night, and on a friend's couch for a couple days after that, and in another friend's parent's home for about the next week and a half. Though we love each other, my mom and I do NOT have a healthy relationship, and that night it all came to a head in an ugly way.
Prior to all that was a bit of a creative dry spell that started during my last year of college. I have been more interested in taking in creativity rather than putting it out. In fact, I haven't been able to bring myself to write anything on any level (I used to write articles) in a long time. I have, however, been buying commissions from talented artists and settling nicely into my new fursona, named 12 (I was previously known as Lukos).
Before the big thing with my mom, I was working on getting my gears turning and ending that dry spell, but the thing with my mom was such a personal and mental setback. I had been getting very involved with my local furry community here in Orlando, creating and helping run fur meets and even that waned, though I still have been attending existing fur meets. Though there is a certain comfort to being here, I'm not happy where I am, and I need to move forward to get past this block, creatively and in terms of my life in general.
I had a feeling that MFF this year would rejuvenate me, and I wasn't wrong. I'm still in a bit of a slow spot, but I met some really great people at MFF and saw some people whose names I've seen around the Internet since I first became a furry, like Xander and WolfPupTK and Wookiee. I made some new friends, and most importantly I've started to come out of whatever shell I have a little bit. I've set new goals for myself. I'm always so reserved when it comes to singing or dancing in front of people and I want to learn to do both with confidence, and to enter a dance competition when I get my fursuit.
I was so inspired by the event as a whole, by the way we treated our charity. Someone got on stage at one point during the closing ceremonies and thanked the community in general for the "life" that she had enjoyed so far. That was profound to me. I knew that furry was a fandom, but a life? A huge group of people rushing to the stage to empty their pockets for a charity? These things are where the bridge lies between a "fandom" and a "community."
I could go on and on about MFF and the closing ceremonies and the community, about furries completely changing a redneck non-profit CEO's perspective in just one weekend and what that means, but the point is, furries, no matter how dramatic at times, no matter how lewd at times, no matter how immature at times, have inspired me, not only to contribute creatively, but to get to know them better, and to become a better person myself. I owe a certain person some written work since even before my dry spell, and though I was clear before accepting the job that I did not know when I would get to writing it, he has been EXTREMELY patient, moreso than I may have been, and I fully plan to make it up to him. I look forward to making more friends, fursuiting and having fun, and enjoying whatever "life" awaits me in this community.
TL;DR: I love furries. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm hoping to get back to work very shortly here. See you at FWA.

I DO NOT USE OMEGLE
General | Posted 10 years agoHey guys,
Just a heads up. I got a note saying that someone is using my ref sheet on Omegle, assumedly claiming to be me. I have not been on Omegle in years, and do not plan to use it going forward. If you run into this person, it is NOT me.

FurryNetwork
General | Posted 10 years agoIt looks like FurryNetwork is the new Weasyl. You know, I really like Weasyl. It's well-managed and covers a lot of things that FA has been missing. Even so, it has some design flaws.
FurryNetwork is currently in beta. I hear a lot of people say that they like Tumblr and Twitter, etc. and thus they don't see a need for another furry site, but frankly that doesn't stop them from using FA and sites like it.
FN is very well-designed. You can tell right away that the programmer knows what he's doing. The staff are prompt with feedback, the layout is crisp, well-planned and intuitive and a general joy to use, and the features are impressive. There is an FA importer built in, and it will import your FA artwork, avatar, and watches. It will even note your FA username and automatically add your FA watches to your FN account, and the same for your FA followers. If they don't have FN accounts yet, it will even make note of them and add them whenever they do happen to sign up for one.
FN doesn't support stories yet, but that support in the works, and it's promising big things and great features. It's definitely something to keep an eye on and it's going in a really great direction.
The question is whether or not it will actually make a difference. When it comes to communities, momentum plays a huge part. Just because a new site is better doesn't mean people will automatically stage a mass exodus from the old one. Exhibit A: Weasyl. That said, I think FN is actually better than Weasyl in terms of functionality, design, and direction, but that still doesn't mean it will take anyone from FA. FA would have to do something stupid and FN would have to be next in line in terms of community size.
Or maybe FN's just that good, and people will simply catch on somehow. It's not likely, but hey, anything's possible.
TL;DR? I just got a FurryNetwork account, and this sentence is a link to it. If you want one (and you do) sign up for a beta key by clicking "Sign Up" in the top right corner of the homepage. It'll point you in the right direction. You'll likely have your beta key emailed to you within just a couple of days.

General | Posted 10 years agoSome of you are aware of the family drama I've been experiencing. I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank those who have taken the time to try to be of help to me. Some just listened. Some advised. Some encouraged. Some tried to help me find a place to sleep. One guy let me sleep on his club for two nights. One even loaned me some money, knowing I may not be able to pay it back for awhile.
I really appreciate you guys. That doesn't say a lot but your help, in whatever form, was all an immense help to me, and I'll remember it.

Suddenly homeless?
General | Posted 10 years agoI graduated from college in December of last year. Since then I've been stuck living with my mother, with whom I have never had a great relationship. Last night, we had a big fight, and let's just say we now have no relationship at all. My reality changed extremely quickly. Of my own accord, I went from expecting to be in my bed in twenty minutes to sleeping in a parking lot in my car a couple hours later.
I'm going to figure things out. I don't know if I'll have my phone for a long time, as I was on her phone plan. I'm trying not to think too much about it and deal with what's in front of me. Right now I feel like even if things sort of suck for a little while I'll be fine.

Support Zootopia
General | Posted 10 years agoI was watching the Funday Pawpet Show today and Mutt from the show brought up a good point.
Furries are all very excited about Zootopia, which releases next year. The reasons for the excitement are obvious. That means if there is ONE MOVIE you should NOT pirate, it's Zootopia.
It doesn't matter how broke you are or how badly you want to see it immediately. I think what Mutt said was along the lines of, "If you support what you like, you get more of it." If people are pirating the movie, that's money and feedback that the studios and companies involved miss out on--money and feedback that could mean a sequel or two.
Are you really excited about Zootopia? Then buy it. Let the studio know you like it by buying a movie ticket and by purchasing the Blu-Ray with your money. Don't pirate it, and if you do, spend the money, support the studio, and buy it anyway. Outside of the quality of the work put into it, that is what will make or break Zootopia.

Y'all furries cray
General | Posted 10 years agoI became an admin in one of my local furry groups recently. My first furry con was Megaplex this year, so despite being a long-time furry, jumping headlong into the real-life community like that still feels like a bit of a culture shock. I love all the fuzzies, but I've learned a lot very quickly in the past couple months about the antics and the drama and the situations that the furry community seems to cause.
I love you, furries. Y'all are crazy. But I love you. :)

Sometimes I really hate people.
General | Posted 10 years agoThat's it, really. Sometimes I love people! Other times, people make me wish there were some kind of government over those allowed to access the gene pool.
Read through some stuff that I was dealing with in a journal from my old account regarding a furry art site and it just pissed me off. I'll be back to normal soon.
