Hosting a Raffle Over on DA

I'm hosting a raffle over on DA, with the first prize currently being a 1 year core membership there, or equivalent USD towards a commission purchase ($50), with a donated art prize as well, and likely even more to come. :3 There are similar awesome prizes for 2nd and 3rd prize, and I am adding a small reward for every 5 people who enter. Today's a rough day. Today marks 15 years since I lost my mom. I was ten years old at the time. She had gone in for a fairly routine procedure- a hysterectomy. The procedure itself went completely fine, but while she was in the recovery room, she had two major strokes. It was a really rough night- I remember our dad calling our babysitter and then our grandparents, giving updates. They thought she was going to be okay for a while- but she ended up throwing a blood clot, which went to her brain stem- leaving her brain dead. :( My father then made the decision to pull the plug. He also decided not to let any of us kids go in to see her before doing so.
The last memory I have of my mom was her sitting on the couch, writing in her notebook- probably balancing bills or something. She was annoyed because I was refusing to go to bed- so she was pretending not to notice I was there. But I insisted on getting an extra hug and kiss before going to bed, which she finally gave me, after making me promise I'd go to bed. :) She left the next morning before any of us kids were awake.
This day is never easy. I often find myself wondering how different my life would have been with her around. Or what she'd think of the person I grew up to be. I can only hope she would be proud, or at least not disappointed.
Everyone's situation is different- but I implore you- if you get along with your parents, or if you have a rough relationship but it CAN be repaired- love and appreciate them while you have them. <3

Posted 8 years agoHello all! Just wanted to say a quick sorry, if it bothers anyone, but I'm going to be trying to upload as many of my commissions as possible today. :3 I definitely won't be able to get it done (I have 1k+ images to upload ;; ), but I'm hoping to take out a chunk today.
But Twitterlu, why are you uploading all of your commissions? Why now?
The answer is not very exciting. Over the years, I have lost several commissions FOREVER because I didn't save them fast enough and then the artist deactivated their account- or, from the great data loss of 2015 (my computer and hard drive corrupted and I couldn't get ANYTHING off it...rip). SO. This is my solution. Having them on both my FA and DA (as well as stash and drop box - yeah, I hate losing a file that much!), should help to make sure I never lose any of them again. :3
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well! I'm getting pumped up for my second con ever, which will be Furrydelphia in August. Anybody else going to that?

It will be a plastic Lion King cup, which is part of the Burger King series from 1994. It's still in its original box! And shipping will be 100% free for you!
