Photoshop CS4 help: Rotate View Tool
Posted 16 years agoOkay...I know what this tool is supposed to do. It's the one thing photoshop has been missing that every other major graphics program has had for months if not years.

Whenever I try to use it I get an error message: "Could not complete your request because it only works with OpenGL enabled document windows"
WHAT...THE HELL?
Okay, can anyone tell me what this means or how to fix it...or if I can fix it? And please, no "You should use -such and such- because it's SOOOO much better than photoshop" I need to learn this for school, school uses photoshop...not GIMP, not Sai, PhotoShop...so please, only Photoshop help.

1. I'm 22 and live with my parents. But seeing as I'm in school and unemployed, it's a lot better than killing myself trying to make rent somewhere else.
2. I'm severely impatient. I do not like waiting. I do not like working my ass off without gratification shortly afterwards. This has probably been the reason why my exercise regimens rarely last more than a week or two.
3. Drawing is not my favorite thing to do. In fact, in many ways, I don't like drawing. I'd much rather sculpt or make 3-D tangible objects. But on the scale that I'd like to do, I'd need a studio.
4. Computers and I don't get along. I hate modeling. I hate programming. You know, pretty much all of those things that make all of the big bucks when turned into a career. I am getting much better at Photoshop and Illustrator though!
5. It's not a good idea to talk to me about anything art related unless it's history or pure technique. Talking about philosophy of art will put me on an instant tirade. So shhhhh... Don't test me.
6. My journey to becoming a furry officially started when I stumbled across, of all things, a Doug Winger picture while randomly browsing porn...as any 14 year old is opt to do when they first encounter the internet. Searching for the artist's name lead me to VCL...and the rest is history.
7. I have a firm belief that time is slowly speeding up.

Posted 16 years agoIT'S ALWAYS FREAKING SOMETHING AIN'T IT?! Nah, it's not that bad this time, really ...little slow on the art front though, at the moment. I'm getting accustomed to my new school which is already a lot more work intense than my old one...not a bad thing, but not something I've had for a while. It...actually strangely feels good to have an actual work load when it comes to school. Makes it harder to forget to do things. Posted 16 years ago...my tablet died...so now...a eulogy
Well...not completely...still works as a mouse...but it has lost any and all pressure sensitivity and I've done everything I can to get it back.
I still want to thank
Jijix for giving it to me in the first place, it did its thing, and it did it well and I will always be grateful...but if anything, it just makes it more sad that it died. It was the awesome charity of an artist that I greatly admire and thank for giving me the tool that I needed to finish a few floundering projects. He even autographed it...
Now, with a heavy heart, I lay it to rest in the bottom drawer of my desk...
ashes to ashes...and the dust isn't there because I cleaned it out with the canned air.

Listing another of my pet peeves for discussion...
Posted 16 years agoI keep hearing a phrase...a phrase that get's on my nerves...actually...it's a sentence. That sentence is "He/she/it has too much time on their hands."
This usually is said in response to any talent, skill, or accomplishment that is unique or out of the ordinary, especially when it's a large display of said talent, skill, etcetera.
Sure, there are some really frivolous things that people draw out way too far, but it seems nowadays that any person who shows a grand example of an otherwise mundane skill, then that person has too much time on their hands and thus their feat is laughable. It's annoying and rather sad because many skills, if you think about it, are frivolous. Think of art for example...it really has no use other than to be something to look at and or think about. You can't use art to lift heavy loads, you can't shelter yourself in art, you can't drive art...but we seem to think that it's a useful and worthwhile skill. And no one dare look up at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and say "Wow, that Michelangelo fag had too much time on his hands, HAHAHAHA."
Oh, but someone puts time and devotion into say, recreating the city of Paris with Jenga blocks, down to the correct number of girders in the Eiffel Tower...and it's not an accomplishment at all...because even though he put much effort and research and passion into it...he built it out of Jenga blocks...and he had way too much time on his hands...
...says the people who pay money to play online games and spend their days trolling chan boards...

Posted 16 years ago...if you ever go to a grocery store and find this interesting looking bottle of chinese tea called "Kombucha"...and you start reading the bottle and it's telling you about all of these wonderful things that it does and how good it is for you and you start to think to yourself, "Wow, a chinese tea in an awesome bottle that does all sorts of awesome things for my body...I should try this!"

A question for pixel art peoples
Posted 16 years ago...I've asked about (and by asked about, I mean like...one person) and I don't understand...I've sen some awesome little pixel art icons and thumbnails around FA...but all of my experiments have failed miserably. FA artifacts the hell out of them and I don't know how to fix it. This is the biggest problem I've been having.
I need some help...even if I end up not using pixel art ever again, I'd like the knowledge to be there...
