so, internet
Posted 8 years agoSo last Friday I called and got all of my utilities set up for the move in on Saturday. Internet was the odd one out as that apparently requires a 'starter kit' be shipped to me for some reason, despite me already having a modem and router. (The guy I talked to said they want to make sure I had the equipment. So the reason is probably people claiming to have their own equipment, not actually having stuff that meets spec, and then getting mad at the ISP.) But I was told it would be there in four to five business days.
Saturday when I started moving in there was a UPS 'we dropped off your package' sticker on the door. I assumed it was for the previous tenant (you already know where this is going but let me finish). So I tossed it in a drawer for the weekend and took it to the apartment office on Monday morning.
Sitting in my room now wondering how much longer I'm going to be restricted to my cell phone data plan I actually checked the package tracking information I'd been sent. Of course I realize now the slip had been for me all along. I should be able to get it without trouble, but still has me facepalming hard.

Life goals
Posted 8 years agoSo things are all moved in to the new place. I still have a few more chores to do in the morrow. But hopefully that will be quick and mostly painless. This move taught me a lot about how to do things next time. Which hopefully will be only in a year or so if things are fortuitous.
Probably the biggest thing I learned is what exactly I want long term. As I mentioned last post, I love being around people, even if I'm not super talkative or interacting with them. My ideal situation would be a large house with several friends in the country. Probably the ideal is a handful of buildings/wings connected to a shared common area. A large kitchen, lots of amenities. Maybe a pool, lounge area, a pool table, other arcadey type things, a bar area. Perhaps a bowling alley. Look, it's my fantasy. And if you want a kitten start by asking for a horse. But yeah. Lots of gardens, maybe a lazy river, Some chickens or other livestock. Who knows?
But yeah, that would be an ideal. Probably a long way off if it is even plausible. But still, something that is nice to think about.
Anyway, I'll talk at you all more later.

Rambling life stuff
Posted 8 years agoI've been super sparse with journal posting for the past few years. Mostly due to being more on twitter than anything combined with my journal feed being roughly 90% stream notifications and ych reminders that I lost interest in the medium. But I hope to get back to it. I need to chat more long form about things again.
It's been a bittersweet time for me this weekend. My roommates have moved out and gotten their own place, and I and now moved into a one bedroom. They moved to their own place as they want to have their own space. And they are like ten minutes away, so we'll still see each other often. But I'm still feeling lonely. I'm a cat through and through. I like being around people even if I'm not interacting with them.
But we got most of the stuff moved today. Still a bit to do cleaning the old place tomorrow. And a few more loose ends to tie up with the new place (because of course there are). It's just quite a drain on me emotionally.
It's a bit strange as half a decade ago having my own apartment would have been a luxury I fantasized over. Now it feels like a step back. Probably a sign of how comfortable I was. And aside from just having other people around it's nice to share burdens. Not just financial but other responsibilities as well. As it stands if feels like King Dionysius has hung a small armory over my head.
Financially I can handle it, but it's worrisome. Particularly at this time of year with Midwest Furfest coming up, Christmas coming, and the dreaded winter break. I'm currently working part time as a math tutor for a local college. Unfortunately the college is dead set on keeping me part time. So that means no benefits and five weeks unpaid mandatory vacation in the winter.
But I'll get through as I always do.
In other news, all of this moving has shown me how much crap I own. Lots of stuff from half-hearted projects that sounded like a good idea. (“ooh, maybe I'll make a fursuit today”) I realize that while making that sort of thing sounds fun, I really just need to pick a thing or tow and double down on it. So I'm going to double down on my writing and my art and let those be my things.
I need to continue posting the Ten Nights in Lyra chapters, continue with the voyeurism arc I was working on, get back to my Lapis Lazuli art stuff, and more, And really start showing some of my world building. I've done tons of that over the past few years but haven't put much to work. That must change.
Anyway, thanks for reading this. More coming soon, I hope.

I made it to Anthrocon.
Posted 8 years ago So I went to Anthrocon this year. This was my second time at the con having gone way back in 2012. Back then I was a very naive con goer. I planned out the trip months in advance. I took the train in because I didn't want to mess with driving that far nor wanted to drive in the big city of Pittsburgh. I even took out traveler's cheques to be cashed as I needed them for spending money. Even though I was traveling withing the U.S. and ATM's are a thing. I annoyed many friends with this whole setup. Especially since the train didn't arrive until 4 in the fucking morning and left at midnight, so I needed to bother other friends to crash and store stuff in their room after arriving/prior to leaving. This year, being much more grizzled and experienced in con going I said to myself, “Fuck it, I'm driving to Pittsburgh for Anthrocon,” about two weeks before the con.
So yeah. I did that. The trip started when I got off work at five in the afternoon central time. Now, the trip was estimated as a 7.5 hour drive by google maps. But this was five p.m. in Chicago area so I knew that wasn't happening. I tacked on an extra hour for traffic and breaks. Add in an hour time zone jump and I was expecting to arrive around 2:30 a.m. local time. I told my roommates 2 to make it not seem as terrible.
The drive went mostly as expected. Traffic was a pain in the arse around Chicago but that was expected. I stopped in Elkhart for dinner and to fuel up (I would not recommend this). The remainder of the trip through Indiana and Ohio went smooth, aside from the tons of construction on the Ohio turnpike. I reached the Pennsylvania border on track for somewhere in the 2-2:30 a.m. window I had predicted. And then the rain started. Now the roads in western Pennsylvania aren't terrible. But still, in a downpour, at night, on roads I'd never driven before I was going slower than I needed to. The rains didn't last long, thankfully. And I was only slowed down to probably the original 2:30 I was expecting. I thought of that as the final boss of the drive. I was wrong, though, that wasn't the final boss.
The final boss was when I reached Pittsburgh. I had planned to come in via 579 straight off the 6th Avenue exit. The ramp from 279 to 579 was blocked because of construction. I did not have a backup route planned. This led me to driving around trying to find a route inward. I knew I wanted to get to the United Steel Tower, since it's right next to the Double Tree. And I could see it. But that was not very useful in Pittsburgh. In Chicago, if I can see the Willis (Sears) Tower I can point my car in its general direction and I will get there because flat and regular grid system. But Pittsburgh with the hills and rivers makes that not a thing that can work. Eventually I remembered I had a smart phone with gps that could give me directions. I did this and it took me where I wanted to go within like five minutes.
Then I had to park. I had intended to park in the Steel building garage. But the entrance I had spied on Google maps was a secondary entrance which was closed at that time of night. I did not know where the main entrance was (in the morning I saw that it was literally on the other side of the street.) So I drove off in search of a different garage. And again I became lost unable to spot a garage. There were of course many about I saw in the morning. But it was late and dark, and I was tired and stressed out of my mind. Eventually after more being lost in Pittsburgh I again remembered smart phone, told it to find me parking, and blindly followed its instructions. It took me to a garage just a couple blocks from where I wanted to be anyway. So I was thankful to Google maps. Even though Google maps had been what told me of the 579 route in the first place and caused the mess I was in.
I gathered my stuff and headed off to the Double Tree. A few dead ends because straight lines still were not a thing that worked here. But I made it to the hotel room around 3:30 a.m. local time. I crashed on the floor because I had come prepared for floor space.
So I had successfully reached Anthrocon. I dragged myself up around ten so I checked of the 6 of the 6-2-1 rule. Breakfast was at Bruegger's Bagels. They had a tasty salmon bagel. Much better than the salmon bagel I had gotten previously at a more prominent bagel chain which was a crime against the fish that had died for it (stick to relativistic physics, brothers). And off to the convention center to registration. I got to the convention center and saw the signs for downloading the reg app to fill out registration while waiting in line. I saw the line for the on-site registration, a well organized set off queue. The line was short, too. Probably because it was Friday morning and not the peek time for registration. But none of that mattered to me, because I had pre-registered.
I saw the prereg desk and walked straight to it. There was only a couple of people standing before the desk and I went up to stand behind them. At which point I was informed by the desk clerks that I needed to get into the prereg line. And then they struggled to tell me where it was because they didn't know themselves. See, this was shortly before Dealer's Den opened. And the line for the Dealer's Den was meandering everywhere about the center as it does at that time. This included about the prereg line, because it didn't have its own designated area as on-site reg did. And a good number of people standing in line didn't know which line they were actually in. Eventually, as the den opened, one staffer got involved and really started to get the two lines separated and organized. But the pre reg line was still long, and had only a couple of people working it. And this was extremely annoying and frustrating as my body was still stressed from the night before.
It would have only been half as annoying, though, if Kage hadn't tweeted this two weeks ago: https://twitter.com/Unclekage/statu.....58348601962496 . I know and understand that having people pre reg for the con is far better for the con. But if you're going to use how much easier and faster it is as the main selling point you should probably put effort into making certain it actually is. MFF is bad for this as well. My friends who on-site regged there last year had their badges before me. And I was sponsor and got into reg pickup half an hour earlier.
But that annoyance dealt with I could finally start enjoying the convention. Most of my time was spent in the Dealer's Den. I picked up a few books from Sofawolf. The newest Heat, Kyell Gold's Out of Position, the Anubis Dark Desires collection, and Ursula Vernon's Digger. The latter of which I got signed. I've been fan boying over Vernon recently so I was eager for this. I attended a few panels. I took in Fox and Pepper's shows. I also made my way down to the fountain at the origin of the Ohio river. I hope to walk down to the National Aviary in future Anthrocon trips. I also got to pet one of the chickens from the charity.
Unfortunately I picked the one Anthrocon when none of the five people I usually hang out with at cons were going. So I mostly stuck to myself all weekend. Food was mostly gotten from the con center restaurant and Fernando's. And the aforementioned bagel place.
The one other fun turn of events happened Friday night/Saturday morning. I cut out of Fox and Pepper's show early because I was dead tired and wanted to crash. When I got back to the hotel room my roommates told me how our room's plumbing was leaking and we now had to pack up all of our stuff and move to another room. Thanks, Double Tree.
Anyway, other than all of that it was a decent vacation. I'll go back again. And I'll still preregister in spite of my complaints because I know it is better for the convention.
But yes, that was my anthrocon.

10 Nights in Lyra
Posted 8 years agoSo in November 2015 I did the NaNoWriMo challenge. It was my first and only time attempting. I succeeded clearing well past the 50k goal to almost 80k words. And more importantly I finished the thing. As is usual for me I said I'd edit it fully and then post. But things got away from me. So I'm going to edit it and post one chapter at a time, starting tonight.
The story is called Ten Nights in Lyra. It is a bit pseudo-incestuous. Godmother on godson as they take a vacation in my city of Lyra and explore its sexual wonders (and maybe a few of the non-sexual wonders if they have time).
I hope you enjoy this thing I did. Thank you.
1: Arrival in the City
2: The Tour
3: Country Matters
4. The Toymaster
5. Caroline's Show
6. Tilly Tufty
7. Toward the Ball Game

Writing Direction
Posted 9 years agoHi, everyone. It's been a while. I've not posted much these past few years. But I've not been idle. I have been working on many ideas, worldbuilding, and other things. Of course, spreading myself thin has led me to not actually getting things done. This has led to much reflection over the past few months and some ideas about where I'm going with all of this.
One of the big introspective thoughts I've had over the past few months is on my lot in life. For most of my life I've felt I needed to do everything myself. If I wanted something I should make it. Writing, drawing, computer programming, etc... But focusing on everything spreads me thin, as said. I need to focus on the things I am good with and trust that others will be there to help me with other aspects. As much as I want to make art and comics and things it is outside the realm of time I have to invest.
A second related idea comes from an anime. The main character becomes focused on developing his specialty. The style that only he can do because of his unique combination of experiences and education. This is becoming a mantra of mine to go back to when stuck in my writing. Look at it and ask myself, 'How can I make this something uniquely mine?'
The third piece of reflection I've came from Midwest Furfest just last week. I went to one writing panel, “Setting and Worldbuilding.” The panel was ran by Tempe O'kun and others. I was worried going into the panel that there would be condescending talk of overdoing worldbuilding. But actually it went the other way. The talk went the direction of 'if you like doing that sort of thing then do it.' You can always sell the universe compendium stuff later! More than anything this confirmed to me that what I've been reflecting on the past few months is the right track.
I should build the world I want and tell the stories I want to tell. A simple thing, but a big one for me. I've always struggled with the conflict between the things I want to do and the things I think I'm suppose to do. I want to tell cute stories of fuzzy people having fun sexy times. But I worry will people get it? Am I being too cliché? Are my animal people not animal enough? And so on and so forth.
But I know now that I need to not worry about this. My work is my own. It is the sort of thing I want to write and read. It is, in many ways, escapist. It is the simple sexy fun that I enjoy. The furries don't have headfur. The world is overcomplicated in ways that the readers will never see. The furries are probably more human than animal except in looks; tigers eat salad and deer furries eat venison made from wild feral deer they shot. Penises are human style in sheaths. Vaginas are human style as well. More people enjoy anal play than probably do in reality. And no one has heard of condoms but there's still no unwanted pregnancy nor STD's because magic but more because creampies are hot.
This is my main world for writing. I'll probably end up reworking a lot of my old stories to fit this new world but that is fine. This world is many things, but most importantly it is mine. I call this world, these stories from here out:
Tygacat Presents: The Amazing Sex Friends
One final note. I also hope to get much art done of these stories to be put with the stories. I've read before that furry writing is hard to follow as it is hard to visualize the fluffy characters sometimes. I think pairing the prose with illustrations is a great way to combine the visuality of art with the storytelling power of prose. I know when I found the chakat's den way back when I first discovered the fandom I quite enjoyed the art that came with.
Ideally I'd find an artist with an interest in my writing to do the art. But of course I need to find a good way to afford to pay for commisions for it. But that will come in due time. Hopefully if I keep writing and posting I will build an audience and attract some favorable attention that I can monetize.
I have many more ideas beyond this that I hope to put into practice. Thank you for reading my rambalings and my stories.

Worldbuilding
Posted 10 years agoWorldbuilding and Such
Hello, been quiet on here for a long time. But that is going to be changing again.
I've been doing a lot of worldbuilding for my main furry world. You can get a feel for some of it in my new Christmas-y story Wish List (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18599081/). But you will see a lot more of it in the coming months. One thing I am going to be doing is rewriting many of my old stories. Primarily to reflect this new world design but also to do many of them a bit more justice in writing.
One of the most notworthy changes is that I have changed the name of my main fictional metropolitan area from Lyre City to Lyra. Mainly because the naming converntion of ______ City annoys me. This change has had the unexpected advantage of me being able to more correctly visualize my world.
One major new story you will see soon is my Nanowrimo novel Ten Nights in Lyra. I actually decided to participate in Nanowrimo this year, and astoundingly finished the story. At least a draft of it. I'll be revising it over the next month or two and then posting the whole of it a chapter at a time online.
And finally I'm going to be focusing on holiday type stories over the coming year. I want to showcase Lyra's holiday setup and style. As well as give my readers a fell for how time is measured there without infodumping. (A challenge).
Anyway, that is all for now.

My Stories Commissions things.
Posted 10 years agoOkay, since no one came up with any ideas for me to write (aside from Antoneth) for my flash fiction, I came up with a few of them for you. Pop $10 at me and I will write the one of your choice.
The following are story ideas. Some are ideas I've had before but haven't gotten around to writing. Others are just things that popped into my head. I may or may not write any or all of them on my own. But if you pop me $10 for one, it will be next in my queue (and be done within a couple of weeks).
Some of them also have unspecified characters or other elements to the story I would ask the commissioner to provide, (usually the species and/or sex of one of the partners.) Feel free to ask for more details on any of them.
1.) Requisite Sayen and Itu: Sayen and Itu (older raccoon/wild dog couple) fool around at a carnival.
2.) Experimentation type story: My male fox taur Kevin masturbates for a straight male or lesbian female friend, at their request.
3.) Incest: Female catches her brother masturbating, asks if she can watch him finish. Then she returns the favor.
4.) Hunting/Snuffy idea. My (er, Lapis Lazuli's) tiger Izumi fooling around with a hunting partner after making a kill.
5.) Tirta and his boyfriend. Water mage Tirta fucking around with his boyfriend.
6.) Wild dog woman 'captured' and chained to a rock while males come and masturbate onto her belly.
7.) Two women finger one another's arseholes.
8.) Treehouse threeway. Two females one male.
9.) Male cat masterbates under a book in the park.
10.) Male wolf takes his snow leopard girlfriend to a sex mansion.
11.) Queen of Civas Beach Elsie Briggs 'mingles' with her subjects
12.) More of Chester (orange marmalade cat Male) and Sally (deaf leopard (pun intended)) engaging in food play.
13.) Because I'm hip to current events: Blue and black and white and gold striped tigers yiffing.
14.) Undetemined Quantity of Tints of Pink: Chapter 1. Billionaire tigress talks young male into joining her for safe/ consensual BDSM play in her mansion.
15.) Wild dog Katlego and his cat wife Karen having sex discretely in a public location.
16.) Best friend's mother. A mother seduces her son's best friend. The mother, of course, is a cougar.
17.) Rimming. Something with rimming.
18.) Sex on a boat.
19.) Voyeurism. Husband watches his wife get fucked by a guy (consenually).
20.) A male cat taur fucking a female cat taur.
The next few are all related to the story Fired (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6310712/) I wrote long ago.
F1.) Tanja meats and has sex with another member (or two) of Theodore Langston's staff.
F2.) More of Theodore Langston prostituting himself to the the world at large.
F3.) Theodore Langston's black cat wife Cheryl meets, and spends time with Tanja.
F4.) More sex between Lanston and Tanja. Probably a third party involved.
F5.) Cheryl having sex with an extramarital partner.
F6.) Rewrite 'Fired.' I like the story's idea, but looking back over it I can do better.
Quay Party prequels. Based on the partner swapping party story I'm writing. These would show a bit, in an erotic fashion, what the peoples deciding to come to the party.
QP1.) Twincest Tigers. Male female tigers never slept with anyone but each other.
QP2.) Three skunks: FMF group of skunks going to the party dressed as French maids.
QP3). MF married couple. Somewhat of a size difference couple. Plump bodied raccoon with her skinny husband.
QP4.) Lesbian married couple. Jaguar and a bobcat.
QP5.) Gay married couple: Black bear and an otter.
QP6.) Trio of female foxes ( a red fox, a cross fox, and a grey fox)
QP7.) Gay married taurs (ferret taur and snep taur)
QP8.) Lesbian Taur couple (Ocelot and Jackal)
QP9.) Straight Taur couple (Stoat and Fennec)
QP10.) MMF trio: (Two male red foxes and a female civet)
QP11.) Gay trio of cats (Tabby, Lynx, and a Margay)
QP12). Male Badger and Female Mink couple
QP13). Male Red Squirrel and Male Rat couple
QP14) Two female polar bear couple

Plush Tourist
Posted 11 years agoI want to do a big version of a game from when I was a child. We did this once when I was in school, mail a plush to someone in the world. They can write something about where the plush has been, stick a small souvenir with it, and send it on to the next place. Eventually it would make its way back to me.
But this was many years ago, before the internet was the thing it is now. The old method involved people actually hand writing something and stuffing it into a zippered pack sent with the fuzzeh thing. And eventually it would get sent back to me.
But now the people who received my fuzzy could send emails with their visit. I'm thinking of building and maintaining a site to post my fuzzy friend's voyages. The people who receive my friend can send me emails and photos about the critter, and I could post them on the site. They could then send the thing on to the next.
So, really, all I need to get started is a plushy traveler, a website (and email), and, most importantly, someone to send it to first.

Greek Mythos
Posted 11 years agoI'm working on a pantheon for the game I have been working on (slowly, as all things I work on). I've been a bit of a Greek mythology buff (very small bit).
Anyway, do you have any favorite stories from amidst the Greek Mythos? Favorite gods or goddessses?

Specific Interest
Posted 11 years agoI'm wondering if anyone knows/can link me artists who (usually) draw characters without headfur? Particularly characters of a female persuasion as it is oft easier to find male characters without headfur.
I only ask because I'd like to see more such art in my inbox. I've never been a great fan of headfur, preferring a more animalistic look to my furries.

12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?

Tiger. You really should have figured that out by now.

I obsess over small details too much.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
There is a writer who I admire and who has inspired me greatly in my own work.

Any place I can take a long, quiet, and solitary walk in the woods.
31. Are you interested in anyone~?
No comment at this time.
32. That was a stupid question.
At least it was a question. This is merely a statement that is taking the space of a potential question. *flicks tail*

Lake.

Posted 11 years agoI've talked about the possibility of doing anthologies and such before. I started work on a Livestone one, but it has fizzled for now.
But I have drawn up a more complete larger work, probably technically a 'novella,' involving my Sayen and Itu. It is called 'Renovations' and takes place the summer after they decide to re-vamp their sex life. Sayen and Itu renovate their old house while discovering more about themselves and their sexual interests.
The house itself has not so much fallen into neglect as they have failed to keep up with it. As their children moved out over the years there was less reason to keep things spotless. Now, Itumeleng tries to convince Sayen to change the building for their own enjoyment. Sayen is reluctant, though, as she feels they are encroaching on the territory of their past. And she is torn between her base desires for sex and her beliefs that such activities are not for furs of their age.
I have already written out a synopsis for the chapters. Each chapter (nine in total) will be themed to a room in their home and feature them engaging in some kind of sexual act within. This is an adult story with MF sex between the elder pair.
I hope to finish this within a few months and submit it for sale to one of the main furry publishers.

Avatar: Bending
Posted 11 years agoSo if you were suddenly in the Avatar universe from playing with buttons in a mad scientist's lab (you'd think you have learned by now) what 'bender' type would you want to be (presuming you got a choice). Earth, air, water, or fire?
I'd probably go earth. You can build stuff with that. It'd be useful.
