Back online.... finally
Posted 12 years agoHad some changes in my life of late, if anyone has been following my journals. Still not in a apartment yet, but it feels good to be back on line. Bascially I am at a place they have for vets on the Dayton VA grounds. Nice place, clean, private rooms, I can use my computer (via a wifi hotspot, but the connection is 4g and very good), nice bed, and a few other nice things about it.
Heck they even got me 2 suits to help with interviews. Regardless, this will do till I can find my own place and have a more normal interenet connection for my computer. So as for now the gryphon is back online, and trying to catch up on things... sheesh.

About Ohio
Posted 12 years agoMind folks this is just ranting. Not really ment to insult anyone. So here goes.
Now recently furs here went out of there way to help a fur with no job, and can get a job, move out of state to live back with hir folks in Tennessee.
Before that they refused to help one find a place to live, that does, and didn't want to lose his job. That person even got lied to and when move date happened, those he was going move in with changed there minds that day.
Now does this all sound right to me? No.
There anything that can be done about it now? Not really.
The only difference between the two in question is that the first on is rather sexual, and the second isn't.
Now feel free to say what you want, but this really makes me sick of the furs in Ohio right now, not to mention the fandom in general.

some improvements
Posted 12 years agowell so far i got myself registered with the VA. which resulted in a lot of medical tests. It also resulted in my getting in a program meant to help homeless vets with jobs, get a place to live. so far so good.
Well a few things
Posted 12 years agoArrived in Dayton fine.
Meet the new boss and she's a nice person.
the new place however... no A/C, Shower is a joke, much higher rent then i thought it would be, also located in a place where I am hearing at least 3 gun shots daily.
I looked in to some opitions, and it looks like the following plan is going in to effect.
Step 1
Start look for a 2nd job near where I currently work (2 applications in currently)
Step 2
Look for a cheep place I can afford near them to save up for. found a place, they just want $730, at worse, to before I can move in.
Step 3
Store all my stuff, my new boss is willing to do that, which will be done tommorow morning.
Step 4
check in to a shelter so I can qualify for there transitional housing program. This will hopefully be quick and my down time will be minimal as a result. This is also hoping that the place is still available when I have the money together... which at worst with a second job should take me no more then a month.
At least it's a solid plan for the moment.

Car out of impound check
Move date set
Uhaul Reservations set
License - Waiting on b-cirt form NYC as I need to retest from scratch, which is not a big deal at this point.
Work location transfer - Set should be working on the 8th at the new location.
Well so far everything is good to go. *knocks on wood*

Needing to do a emergancy sale
Posted 12 years agoI need to do a emergancy sale to raise at least $200 so I can get my car out of the impound soon. As such I was thinking of selling some old art I have, but I need to know of a good site, maybe a auction one to do that with. It will be old furry art, and I would like to avoid ebay. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me.
My life is wonderful.... not
Posted 12 years agoSo lets make this short shall we.
Car impounded, license taken away.
Need to purchase a temp license so I can get the car title and get the car out of the impound lot.
Then get my birth certificate, from ny so I can get a normal license again
Then pay all the ticket fees
All on a min wage salary....
yea.. not fun...

Is 30 years a long time?
Posted 12 years agoQuestion has to do with how long I been in the fandom. Lets lay down some history for you all.
I started when I was 10 years old, when I first read Red Shetland comics, and found a RPG called Palladium Fantasy, which to this day in my opinion is the one RPG to have done a furry race correctly.
Latter in the late 80s, during my teen/high school years, I found about some local furmeets and got involved in early BBS boards... even learned some MUF and MPI coding that was being hashed around as a random idea at the time.
In the 90s I managed to join my first MUCK, found some email lists I like, LavaDome 5 was a big one, even found some decent RP in the fandom that was not centered around yiff and the like. SPR Muck was my frist one, and I even helped FurSpace and Furry Faire grow by helping them out with content needs. This was also when I found out how fun it was to RP a evil character that was not obviously evil. it was in 92 I settled down with the name Typhon.
In 1999, after my tour in the US Navy, I whent to my frist furcon, AnthroCon. Which blew my mind, but I managed to go back a couple of more times in latter years. It was also about this time I learned how much drama was in the fandom. To me it wasn't to much of a suprise, I been to star trek and comic conventions, even a anime con down in florida, and they had plently of it there.
In the early 2000s I found out about Second Life, and joined that, While yea I did the adult thing there, I mostly enjoyed exploring, building and learning what I could from them about CGI art and animation. At this time I started to dabble, even talk to old friends from my college days about it to learn more. I even joined groups I am still proud of to have been in to this day.
However these days most of that is behind me. After some things I put some things behind me to let it die down. I still run to drama, but I can ignore it. After all 90% of drama is centered around some personal need to say I am better then you or some other idiotic ideal. I settled in to a game I like that has a solid history of a strong and good community. Even became a guild leader and made friends with other guild leaders and others on the server I play on.
So now here I am 40 years old and though my finical problems and such are leading to another move. Heck I already been homeless once, and I do not want to repeat the experience. I find myself looking back on it all, where I have been, what I managed to do, thoughts I once called friends, and in my mind would still like to.
Also I ask myself should I just step back from it all? I seen it grow from before it's BBS days to the current incarnation... so is it time for me to step back and stop trying to be active in it?
I mean yea I have had been through 3 pets and 2 mates all of which kinda flopped... heck I even almost got marred twice. Still I ask the question, should I continue to try and be involved or just step back in to the shadows and disappear...
Right now I don't think so.. the fandom is at it's height currently, and only tends to be more positive then anything else dispite all those that would bring it drama would like one to belive.
So this journal in the end goes out to all of you. Like me or Hate me.. it is your contrubitions that make sticking around worth it. That alone is the reason for the decision. I want to see and be part of what our future holds, and I am eager for it. So everyone no matter what there in to or there level of support in the fandom, be it artist, writer, donator, website design, community leader, a simple watcher just out there to have fun... hell even the fanboys. Your all inspirations for this old goat that litterly grew up along side this fandom to stick around and not step in to the shadows.

Another move
Posted 12 years agoHasn't been to long since the last one, but I find myself having to move again. All in all it wasn't unexpected, things going on on both sides do tend to lead to problems, which makes moving in RL to a new place a better solution for all involved. I already contacted the ohio fur list about needing a place. So going to see how it goes. There are times though I think I should just pick up and move to another state.
The reason for that line of thought is pretty simple though, I'm not all that social here, not for lack of trying, and recently one of the local furs has been getting to me no matter what I say like he is getting off on trying to find problems that don't exist. As he has a few friends here that seem to be in denial about it, it might be easier to just leave Columbus behind, and look for a change of pace.
Regardless that's a worse case scenario so we shall see how this all plays out.

Just a verification journal
Posted 12 years agoA site I tend to be on at times, just needed this for verification. Just me on f-list, not that I know many there but they got a verification thing so why not. Link is http://www.f-list.net/c/Typhon%20Plume

Is it time to move from FA?
Posted 12 years agoAs many of you might know, I been here from practically the start. Even gotten to know some of the admin and such.
Well after a long time of putting up with all this, and some recent harassment drama of someone I would like to consider a friend. Which I will not repeat here so don't bother asking. I am soncidering moving.
Namely to here.
https://www.weasyl.com/profile/typhon
Now why Weasyl? Well the answers are pretty simple.
1) Better features.
2) A more proactive admin that makes sense, in both policies and actions.
3) It's free (which some here even the admin would like one to think it's not)
4) Less annoyances.
Also to date the admin there have yet to actually tick anyone off. Unlike the admin here that seems to revel in and enjoy it.
Now, as I experienced this in the past, I would not be surprised if the FA admin here delete this and other related journals. They have in the past and still at times actively do so. To me that's not a good thing, as it shows lack of confidence in there own ability and willingness to take some critique on how they do things.
To me such journals like this one could be used for them to learn and improve from, as it might help with making them aware of things they might not be aware of.
I know some might say, other sites do the same, truth is other sights like Deviant Art, SoFurry, and others do not. They learn and try to grow from there problems, and admit to them. Not hide and ignore them.
Well at current I will still be sticking around keeping a eye on folks that haven't left yet. However I am very likely not to be all that active here at all anymore. Still we shall see what the future holds.
Peace out and live your life with honor

Something dealers might like.
Posted 12 years agoAt times when I go to to cons, I notice how a few of those, even myself, at times have to make a quick trip to the atm to pay for there things. Then I noticed this thing I was able to get for free.
http://squareup.com
It lets one take payments via there android or iphone. I thought it might be a neat little time saver for both con staff and the dealers if these things are used as the deposits to ones bank account are done nightly.
Note this isn't a ad for it, just noting a good idea and though it might be worth mentioning.

Never understood
Posted 12 years agoNow don't get me wrong with what I am about to say, but..
Never understood this fandom's obsession with sex in it's artwork and comics.
Now to clarify I got nothing against it, and still enjoy the art for arts sake. Still after years and years of it (been a fur since 81, so you do the math), it kinda makes me wonder about the fandom's supposed obsession with it.

amazing
Posted 12 years agoi find it amazing that the folks that say I am making drama, have me blocked so we can't work it out like adults. but are willing to comment on my stuff with all the hate that keeps it going.
as such, this post is for them. I am fully willing to end it on my end, are you?

Regarding a old journal.
Posted 12 years agoAfter some rude emails and 1 or 2 polite inquires I decided to set the record straight about a old journal.
Namely this one. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4209701/
Now then to clarify, in nice bold text.
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SECOND LIFE AND ORDO IMPERIALIS
I choose to be slightly vague about it and suggestive as a kind of test. Yea see the source of all the headache on it is from
who decided it was about his Ordo on Second Life, told folks and more then a few of them decided to get rude about it.
Which I find odd as one of there Curia anti-drama policies is to investigate something before jumping to conclusions. A policy I still fully understand and support.
Now some might ask, why make a journal over this then?
Answer is simple, the sheer volume of folks in that group that are furs made posting a journal about it the fastest way to get the message across in the shortest amount of time.
So if anyone thinks I am trying to create or spread drama over this, I apologize, I just wanted to set the record straight in the fastest way I could find. No more no less.
As to why that one person was named in all this. Well it his his group, and his policies, as such there actions do reflect on how he runs it. Here is hoping he gets the hint.

Posted 13 years agoFor some reason as I am alone, I always find the sounds of my roomies screwing there freinds in the other rooms of this place... a tad depressing... along with them talking about screwing each other and the like... A little birdy told me something
Posted 13 years agoAfter a long time I decided to log in to a place that meant a lot of drama for me. I get contacted by a few folks that I knew from a group I was with for some time. Good memories there, but not so good ones for why I left that group. Appears some things I been noteing came to past. The group's leader has gone nuts. Blaming his officers for things they did not due and turned it to another atypical clan of gamers rather then what it was which was something special.
To be honest I am not surprised by this.. still the sudden news of it was a bit of a surprise. Maybe I'll start poking around that place again when I find the time. We shall see.

Turning 40 in less then 2 weeks
Posted 13 years agoSo I am going to turn the big 40 soon.. was thinking of getting some art done of one or several of my EQ2 characters as well as my gryphon self (the gryphon being what I am in the fandom after all), but it's hard to decide who to go with, especially with limited funds.
