State of the Dragon: 2025
Posted 10 months agoThe holidays are finally settling down and I'll be getting back to a regular work schedule tomorrow, but I did want to at least let folks know that I am doing well and enjoying things. I'm trying to improve my macro art production in earnest now that I've got the majority of my life sorted out for the forseeable future. I've been working in screenprinting for almost 2 years now, and have become an important member of the team, so I feel comfortable and well set for this year.
I want to help more folks get to where I am though, and do hope that with the uncertain future of four more years of chaos and dysfunctional hate/bigotry/ignorance being shoved down our throats by the rich and powerful, I will be able to do something helpful with growth drives and at least give people a bit of a respite with my art.
I would like to spend more time on Boomer Express as always. Finding time to keep a comic strip going is still difficult with full time work.
I am beginning to chew down the considerable Emerald Scale debt I still have, and will be trying to do more commission related macro art in the near future.
I would like to do more streaming, but time is a premium now and I still value my introverted thoughts more often than not, and don't feel I would be as an engaging streamer as folks might expect. I've been hanging out with close friends on Discord more often to work myself up to this goal.
I want to get March's 10pg comic completed. It's been something I've been struggling to want to do for a couple years now and I just... need to do it. ADHD fears and reservations are a difficult glass wall to work around without breaking something or myself.
I want to be here for conversation and to spark my own inspiration. I would like to do more animation commissions for headshot icons or stomps or small things. There's a lot I want to do in 2025 and beyond.
I appreciate everyone being here and supporting me as I flail my way through life. Juggling family, work, friends, and leisure has been incredibly challenging for me but I'm still here and I'm still going. Let's keep going together!

Forgive but don't forget.
Posted a year agoFor what it's worth, it's been many years now since Dennis/Voco and I had our mismatch and at times violent disagreements. We both screwed up and went to prison for a day.
I have changed just as much as he has, and I think the old rumors and rhetoric around him should be just as changed as well. We are on speaking terms, if through Telegram. I don't think it will ever be as close as before, but he is passionate about photography. He admires and adores furry just as much as any of us do.
Please don't forget the past, that's always a surefire way to repeat it, but with enough time and a little bit of effort, you can help someone break out of the rhyme and maybe become a better person for it.
Please do not reject Voco anymore without at least giving him a chance. Please let him try again. I think he's earned that much in life for helping me learn how to feel.
Thank you.
Edit; for context. He had reached out to a local group with hopes to join
This was his post. “S’up dude.
Figured I’d reach out and see how you been doing. Sorry I didn’t keep in touch. I didn’t mean to cut ties—I was kind of ordered by my grandpa in 2015 to cut ties with Furry, or I’d be homeless.
Then my buddy helped me escape to Texas (love you Chris) until we broke up during COVID.
I never really got back into the Fandom since. But he’s (Pap) passed as of last year (cut me out of the will for it anyway…) SO- I’m looking to reconnect with folks I miss. :)
If not, okie dokie. 🦊👍
If you could point me to the local Furry telegram or such I’d appreciate it.
I think I’m ready.
I have my own apartment(sister and I got a duplex) car mobile and been at my job coming up on 17 months (I work with adults with mental disabilities who are deaf and am learning ASL). 🤘🦊”
and all it did was get him blocked by an admin/chair of local con and lifetime banned from a group he never got to interact with since he stepped out of Furry a decade ago without a word.

2023 Mega Art Pack now available!
Posted 2 years agoHeya. I've been posting all of my art to FA but I guess it has to compress a lot of it down and such to fit. I've decided to at least post an annual Mega Art Pack on Gumroad where you can download all of the art that I made in 2023 at its native resolution, and it's $10 off the Patreon monthly price that way, too!
If you'd like to purchase, please visit https://tyrnn.gumroad.com/l/Mega2023, you could also find Art Packs from various months of the past as well as entire Annual Packs back to 2019, and a super Pre-2018 Art bundle as well!
Thank you for your support, and let's keep growing!

Backlogged and Full Timed
Posted 2 years agoReally don't have much to report or be interesting. I'm working full time as a Lead Production Artist at a local Screenprinting company now, and that's really been feeling like the last piece of the puzzle to make me into a functional adult.
Six months in and I feel like a valued member of the team without any sort of major trouble or anxiety. I know how to use Illustrator now with ease, and am pretty good with InDesign as well. It's creative enough to keep me interested but not taxing enough to burn me out.
I wish I had found the focus to be an animator in game dev or cartoons, but the way those industries are floudering these days? I think I've found the right spot for the near future at least. Career has been launched.

Oh yeah... six months of Full Time Job
Posted 2 years agoI really should post more journals than once or twice a year.
It's late and I'm tired right now, but I did get a job back in March and have been full time employed doing screenprinting at a local souvenir t-shirt company, so you might end up buying a T-shirt that I helped make someday.
I'll come up with more when I'm not tired from working 8 hours and drawing 3 more.

Five months into Career Job...
Posted 2 years agoSo, as a lot of you know, I was recently hired at a screenprinting company in the bay area to work as a Lead Production Artist about five months ago now. Life has changed significantly for the better since then, and while nothing is ever perfect, it has been a major relief to have a career-based job where I can make an above-average wage working, and not feel like I'm overextending myself or being drained of creativity for a corporate machine.
I'm really enjoying it, but I haven't had time to catch up on all the Emerald Scale art I owe and try to do other commissions, and balance that with my own macro art to relax as well. I'm trying to balance it better with Sundays being a "Free and clear Video Game Day" and it seems to have worked really well for my mental health, so I believe I can jump into a full day of art streaming on Monday at least.
Thanks again for being here for me, my friends and family have been the wind beneath my massive wings for 42 years now, and I will never be able to fully repay all the love and kindness (and sheer luck) that you all have given me. I hope to have another 40+ years of art and meet new folks to show them just what macrofurry can be and what it means to themselves and to others.

Trampling along...
Posted 2 years agoTime has really been flying by, and I can't say it's been a bad time at all.
I got a full-time job, the first full-time, creative-focused position I've ever had at a local screenprinting company here in the San Francisco Bay area, about four months ago now. It's been amazingly instructive and I've learned a lot about how Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and a lot of the changes Photoshop has had since I last really used it a decade ago. I've found a place in the world at large and I hope to keep it for as long as I am able to, now with a 401k and enough money in my account to open up a lot of new potential doors.
I don't rightly know where any of those doors might lead, but I have a lot to think about. Thankfully for the forseeable future, I am good.
Macro art has and always will be my life and my passion though, and I will continue to draw to finish up the long overdue Patreon and commissions I still owe, so thank you all for your patience and understanding on that. I really appreciate all the friends I've made over 23 years of Tyrnn and counting!

Career Job Acquired!
Posted 2 years agoWell, it finally happened.
I may not have achieved a job in the Video Games or Animation industries as I'd originally hoped and dreamed, but I've finally landed a job that will push my creative ability further, and I'm over the moon happy.
A new chapter of my life begins on March 28th when I begin this new position, but I'm hesitant to make any links between here and there.
I will be doing my best to keep drawing for personal art and commission work here when I can, even with a full time job, so stay tuned...

Sponsored Art Streams!
Posted 2 years agoI thought I'd try a little experiment, and wondered if anyone would be willing to 'sponsor' a stream for a day. For $250, I would essentially stream free raffle sketches for everyone in chat for 8 hours (with breaks) and it seems that one has already been purchased!
I will be doing a free art stream raffle courtesy of Dragonfire NY on February 26th, from 12-8pm PST! If you've ever been to KitsuneKit's or BlurTheFur's streams, expect some casual, monochromatic art all day long! You can pick from the NYC Block Party theme, or have something special all your own, but you have to be there to win a raffle!
If this goes well, I would like to do more Sponsored Art Streams in the future, so let me know what you think!

Backlog of Art to upload and 2023
Posted 3 years agoWelcome to another new year! I've been focusing on motivation for the past year, and have had a few positive breakthroughs regarding my artistic output and how to 'fit' into the world at large. I've updated my commission price guide to reflect this and will be starting up a brand new "Emerald Scale" token system through my Patreon to help people who support me monthly obtain a 20% discount on my services for art going forwards!
Everything seems to be falling into place for now, and with my monthly/annual Patreon Art Packs posted to my Gumroad account, you can find all of my pieces from the past year in a single place! I will now be focusing on my comic commissions for Ralerin and the Mega March Madness comic I had intended to get done by the end of 2022, but will continue to refine further over the coming months alongside commissions, Boomer Express, and some tutorials in Blender and Unity for expanding my skillset.
I'm still about five or six months 'behind' on posting my art to FA and other websites, but I'll be trying to upload 10-20 pieces every day or so to keep things flowing. Thank you all for your patience and support!

State of the Derg, 2023
Posted 3 years agoIt's getting to be the end of another year, and 2022 hasn't exactly been the banner year I had envisioned. I wanted to get Boomer Express going again, but it's once again stalled and gotten stuck in the mud of my ADHD brain with time management issues that have plagued me for my entire life.
I am happy, I have been earning money for the last five months working for an upper class rideshare service which has been a stress-free way to make $100 or so a day four days a week... but it's not really a career and I still want to be >satisfied< in my soul by drawing art, animations, and comics for you all. For the longest time, I wanted to be a part of a bigger whole, working Somewhere doing creative Something. The games industry has churned through hundreds of artists and animators better than I, as well as the cartoon industry and even comics. It's abundantly clear after over a decade of fruitless searching for a home for my art and creativity, my skills are not where the world needs it to be to be accepted.
So, I'm going to try stepping up again. I am going to be quitting my Drive job in a couple weeks, spending three weeks in Texas with my family for a bit of a vacation and a chance to work on some comics for commission and Mega March Madness while celebrating Christmas and New Years with friends and family alike.
I was earning ~$420 a week doing not much but driving around San Francisco once or twice a day, but I'd like to be earning that or more through my Patreon and Commissions on stream (or off!) going from January onwards.
My current plans are to set aside the same time that I had been driving for Alto, 12-6pm, and shift my work ethic from that job to creative endeavors for commissions, comics, Animation, and Unity education. A >lot< of the recruiters who have asked me about jobs have been looking for Unity experience and I'd like to see about pushing that angle for a potential career now with my 'spare' time. Ideally I'll devote at least four hours a day to commissions, and two to "personal" projects such as Unity or Animating in ToonBoom to build up a proper demo reel. I'd like to get advice and feedback from my Patreon patrons more often, and try to be more interactive there as well as my 'business' front for the most part.
Patreon will also be getting a bit of an overhaul. The existing tiers of $1, $5, and $10 will remain as they are, but I will be adding a $20 tier to begin experimenting with Emerald Scale "tokens" to be earned exclusively through Patreon. Essentially, every $20 you sign up to give me per month will be saved as a $25 credit towards a future commission. You get a discount, I get a visible, solid way of seeing how invested and interested my viewers and fans are, and hopefully we'll see $1500 a month someday in "guaranteed" income that I will properly feel soul-fulfilled to be paid to create.
My commission prices will likely see a Cost of Living increase as inflation >does< make it a little harder to buy food, and our rent did increase another $100 a month recently per person, but I haven't solidified those details yet, and would appreciate any feedback you may have. Current thoughts are $25 sketch, $50 Refined, $75 color sketch, $100 Monochrome Shading, $150 character colors, and $200 Full Color/Background base prices. Emerald Scales through Patreon would essentially keep the prices at their current values.
This is a big leap for me, but it's one that I've tried and failed to make a few times now. My biggest and final request is to help me pierce through the ADHD fog that clouds my vision of you. Without a constant reminder, it's difficult for me to remember there are over 7500 people who follow me on Twitter and at least 4750 of you here on FA who like the work that I do. Please show me that you care with a kind word, a compliment, or just keep on +faving those pieces as I get them out of my head and onto digital canvas.
If you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them in the replies here. Thank you all for your time and understanding. It's almost time to Derg Up for 2023.

Commissions Opening!
Posted 5 years agoI've finally completed my Patreon commissions and other commissions, and have reopened my Commissions Form for potential work!
My goal is to take on two randomly selected art comms and two chosen ones based on how I'm feeling or what's most interesting to me, so there's a good chance I can get a good variety of options drawn. My initial goal will be to earn $300/wk in commissions, and to try and complete these four within two weeks, along with my ideas for animation and game development. This will be an experiment to see what I am capable of Enjoying with art while rotating my ideas around and keeping them fresh, so hopefully we can get some work done together. If you have any questions or ideas, please let me know!

New Year, New Decade
Posted 6 years agoGoing to be doing my best to get my art done on time and in a good fashion. Also will be trying to do comics and keeping other things maintained, so here's to getting better at juggling!
Not much really else to report for now. My Patreon now covers the entirety of my rent, so that's a great milestone to achieve. Folks are purchasing addons and extras for their art each month as well for additional income, so I'm pretty busy.
I still want to find a job though, and if I do find one I'd have to switch away from Patreon to that job, but we'll have to worry about that when the day comes. I'm still struggling to find any sort of employer willing to look at me or my art twice.

State of the Dragon
Posted 6 years agoSo, I'm kinda overloading myself again and it's a bad bad BAD habit of mine, but I really don't know any other way to try and coax myself out of laziness and lethargy to actually get anything done. Here's kinda a list of what I want to do this month and the things that are now going to happen alongside it all.
I need to get my remaining September Patreon art done. That's going to be tough to chew through and then do October's Patron art as well, but it's a high priority.
Pyronite will be visiting for a while this coming weekend, so I need to be a good host and whatnot.
LucariOctober is another project that I'd like to maintain, and generate a little extra revenue for the month through growth drive donations. I'm planning RenamoNovember as well with some tweaks and possible Exorbitant Growth options for those who'd like to see light-years of Digimon.
I'm doing some colorization work and Harmony practice with Bayworld Unlimited to help clean up the pilot episode and hopefully see it completed and ready for presentation by the end of the year. It's a long shot for a career, but it's been the best opportunity I've found yet.
BlizzCon is coming up on Nov. 1st, and I'll be driving down to Los Angeles for that kettle of fish as well. I'd like to add onto the trip with some hangout time with friends and maybe even a trip to Phoenix, but that's not looking likely with the amount of work I'd like to get done in between this all.
November seems like a bit of breathing room before MFF in December and potential holiday travel plans with family that still need to be arranged.
I feel like I'm juggling way too much but this seems to be about par for the course of life at my age. I still need to somehow find a job in all of this chaos and confusion, or maybe start making plans to go back to community college for a programming degree to put another bit of leverage in...

June Commissions
Posted 6 years agoI'm going to try to continue expanding myself slowly. As I've successfully kept up with my Patreon queue for two months now, I want to open up commissions for a few more slots this month to try to weave into my Patreon work. I've updated my prices to be a bit more in line with my time, and I am still juggling Storyboarding and Card Game work that is in sore need of attention as well, but I also need money to save up for conventions and the like, so it all boils down to needing to work more and enjoy that work as best I can.
For this first month, I'm going to try to do at least four or five commissions outside of spot commissions, and I'll likely try randomly selecting them from any submissions I receive on my newly set up Commission Form here:
https://forms.gle/B8eiiuhXFdZQ8TWH6
I cannot guarantee I'll get to everyone, but this will help me plan with the amount of demand and help me become a better artist.
Thank you for your patience with me!

Success and Shenanigans.
Posted 6 years agoSo far, things are going pretty well here. I'm doing some sort of scribble or art every day, and my Patreon is doing well. I'm getting better at treating art as a Job with all the Fun that it entails, so hopefully, the future lessons aren't too harsh. I'm doing ok. I still would like a career as an animator somewhere, but with the industry soaked to the bone in talent and labor laws eroding away, I kinda feel that maybe going solo is the better option for the forseeable future.
Patreon: Round 2
Posted 6 years agoHello! It's been a while since I had a working Patreon account, as I had learned the hard way that things can build up and overwhelm me very rapidly when life gets in the way. With the success of the StompOlympics though, I believe I am ready to try Patreon again as a source of my art and some income as well.
I am going to reopen a monthly account starting in April, where I will be rewarding Patrons with private streams and doing more commission streams over the weekends. Art from these streams will be put into a monthly Art Pack for Patrons, with some extra bonuses for higher Patreon levels.
I am looking for last minute feedback now if anyone has any suggestions or concerns before I begin, as I'm always looking for ways to improve!

Macro March Stompolympics! (Growth Drive inbound!)
Posted 6 years agoHello! I'm just about done with my Patreon and will be finishing up the last few projects shortly. To kick off the festivities though, I will be conducting a Growth Drive throughout the month of March in the same style as LucariOctober! This time, though, we'll have some Renamon to tag along as well! And you all get the chance to participate, even without donating!
The money I raise from this donation drive will be used to help fund my Convention Store and future T-shirt, Enamel Pin, and Sticker ideas, plus hopefully, raise money towards a button-making machine and maybe a burrito or two along the way. Any money donated to this Growth Drive is directly going towards getting myself out there and into the world as an artist and animator, so please Grow Responsibly!
Anyways, here are the official rules!
Renamon vs Lucario. Start at 1.5m. There will be two posts each day with one combined piece of artwork. In each post, Lucario or Renamon will be colored to indicate which post earns growth for each character. Growth is given as follows:
Retweets: 50cm
Voting: 5cm
$1: 2m
Each day, voting will consist of four randomly selected Summer Olympic events from the following list:
Archery, Race, Steeplechase, Hurdles, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw, High Jump, Javelin Throw, Long Jump, Marathon, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Triple Jump, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Slalom, Canoe Sprint, Diving, Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Marathon Swimming, Rowing, Shooting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Trampoline, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weight Lifting, Wrestling
Each one can only be used once. If additional sports are necessary, they can be drawn from the Winter Olympics, but 30 of these should suffice for the month.
You may vote on one, or both versions of the artwork to contribute to one or both.
Each day, five donators will be randomly selected and asked to "Rate" the "performance" of Lucario and Renamon on a 0.0 to 10.0 scale. These will be averaged into the competitor's "score" for that day.
Donations may be placed at PayPal.me/tyrnn. If you wish to contribute using other methods, please contact me through DM.
Donations must include the recipient of the growth. If no recipient is designated, growth will be split evenly between the two.
If there are not enough donators, then retweeters will be randomly selected.
If there is no response from the "judge" within two days, a new judge will be selected. If no score can be determined within five days of the event, then I will assign a judge from a list of macrofur friends and badger them until I get a number between 0.0 and 10.0
The tallest competitor will win the Growth Contest. The highest scoring competitor will win the Stompolympics. The competitor with the most donations will win my heart for at least a week or two and get
extra drawings done doing assorted BigThings™.
If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments and I'll try to respond when I am able. I will post here the same way as I did with LucariOctober with relevant links to donate and to contribute through Twitter!

DragonDrop Artwerks Opening for Business: Nov 8th!
Posted 7 years agoHello! Now that I am a bit more confident with my art and my skills as an animator, I have cut my pizzajob hours down to just a couple days a week and will be shifting my focus towards earning the bulk of my income through art, animation, and portfolio-building commissions. I will be reopening my Patreon as a monthly service to allow people to get a monthly commission or just chip in some change to help keep me afloat as I push towards a career in the animation industry in LA, Vancouver, or wherever Harmony will lead me. To that effect, I would like to discuss the options that people have to offer their support for my endeavors should they choose.
Patreon is the primary support structure I'm looking to make use of. If you like what I do enough to toss me some coin each month, you'll get access to stream sketches, scribbles, and probably a decent amount of macro porn I end up sketching on stream or thereabouts. I'm hoping to do a good 15-20 sketches per month in a monthly Art Pack much like Coug'r is generating. For substantial contributions ($50+) I will make art pieces specifically for you on a monthly basis.
One caveat here is I still have 11 or so outstanding Patreon pics/animations to work on, so I will be doing those first before I actually >turn on< the Patreon. You may sign up now, but will NOT be billed until I meet my existing obligations!
https://patreon.com/tyrnn
I have also activated Subscriptions to my Picarto account. I will be streaming my work for whatever I am working on that day, and I would love some company and some cheering on. Subscribing on Picarto is $5 a month, and I will be trying out adding custom emotes for subscribers as I learn the system and how it operates. I love streaming with friends, and may even create special .gif files for long-term subscribers to be displayed while I stream.
https://picarto.tv/tyrnn
I have a large well of commission ideas and thoughts that have been pooled from Anthrocon this year and stored in my Trello account. I intend to try and pick a few of them and contact the individuals and discuss commission options as they come along, but I also will be taking live stream commissions when I feel like it using my commission guide on this site. I will happily discuss terms and conditions and provide WIPs if requested and would be happy to make adjustments as necessary, but too many adjustments may require additional time and payment if they become extraneous. I am learning by example and experience here, so I really appreciate your patience as I proceed.
https://trello.com/b/eqxC4vrC/commissions
I know that I currently cannot make the $150 or so a day that my pizzajob currently provides, but am shooting for the bigger picture now for the first time in my life. This is going to be a struggle, and I will likely make new mistakes and learn from them. I am counting on your support and patience as I adjust and improve this model until I am truly comfortable as a "business" instead of just an "Artist". Thank you, and let's make this fun for everyone!

Anthrocon Rampage Badges: Open!
Posted 7 years agoSo I think I'm going to try to jumpstart my creativity again and make some more Rampage Badges for Anthrocon. Ideally I'd like to make ~20 or so at $40 each to offset the flight and hotel costs, so let's see how many we can make. If you'd like one, please paypal me the funds (at least half would work) to reserve a spot in the queue. I'm making one for BobSkunk tonight at around 9pm Pacific time on my stream as well since his is long overdue. Here's a sample of ones I've made in the past:
