Still Alive
Posted 8 years agoYeah I'm still around but no longer writing or doing any of the things I used to enjoy. My husband retired and promptly began doing nothing except follow me around to see what I'm doing. He drives me batshit crazy. Consequently, I can find no time or space to enjoy my former pastimes and I truly miss being connected to all my friends on DA, FF.net, SWAT Kats forum, and here.
I need to break free but life and my hubby keep me from doing so. He's depressed (and not admitting it) and his very negative outlook drains any energy from our household. Even moving into a much nicer neighborhood and beautiful home hasn't given me back my life.
However, I am the positive one in this home and I'm determined to break free and get back to the things I love. So with the warmer weather moving in, I'm going to get fitter and make time to write again and reconnect with the people and places I once haunted. Hope I can keep this promise.

Yes I'm still around
Posted 10 years agoCan't believe its been 3 years since I entered anything. Doesn't seem like that will change just yet. Last two years have been difficult for me and my family. 2014 was a year of many deaths the last two were my only brother and a cousin who had just happened to have attended my brother's funeral. sigh. Of course any kind of muse I might have had vanished utterly especially when my husband retired just before my brother's death. All those jokes about when a spouse retires and drives the other crazy are absolutely true. Especially for me as my husband does nothing all day except watch TV. Why that's bad? Let tick off the reasons: my PC is in the same room and can't go anywhere else; he's overweight and unhealthy and complains a lot AND talks to the TV or complains a lot about his feet and knee (exercise will help that dude!); we have our home on the market and it still hasn't sold some four months later; and he's such a negative person it drains all the positive energy from me. sigh
Things will get better when we move because most of our belongings are packed so we can present a less cluttered home for showing. Keeping fingers crossed that we may have found a buyer at last. If and when that happens maybe we can finally move forward with all our lives. This standing in place so long is why we're at each others throats and are so unhappy.
Wish us luck! If things finally go our way my muse will return and I'll have something to finally post.

Stay or Go
Posted 13 years agoI'm here so infrequently and have nothing to contribute lately so wonder if I really need to hang around anymore. Not much SWAT Kat work lately to keep my interest either and since no one seems to talk to me or leave messages or favorite my work, seems no reason for me to hang about anymore. Will probably leave my site but won't update. If there's anyone out there that cares if I'm here or not please drop me a shout. To those that know me and care, you can find me at Deviant Art all the time.
New Year Pains!
Posted 13 years agoWell we started the year off with making the decision to stay in this snow laden, boring, no jobs city. The reason? We are at retirement age and its more important to have financial security, friends, medical care you trust, and a safety net. We have all of those here sorry to say. So we will go on regular trips to the coast to relieve the stress of living here and make the best of it.
And it's a good decision as my husband is forced to continue working past retirement to allow our middle daughter living with us, to have medical care. She requires therapy and is trying to get on SSI. Until she succeeds, he will have to keep working. I just underwent another operation...this time gall bladder surgery. It went well and I'm fully recovered. My recheck of my belly to see if the kidney cancer was completely cleared from removal of tumor in 2010, uncovered a spot on my other kidney. *sigh* Now I have to wait and watch to see if this turns into something serious. Hopefully not! My other need is to have cataract surgery on my eyes but that can't happen until my eye doctor cannot correct my left eye for glasses. That's the line the insurance company draws to pay for it. I really don't see well but the insurance companies don't care. So I hope my vision fails the test on my next exam the end of this year. I hope so. I dearly want to see better. I already lost my night vision and will never get that back.
Otherwise, things are okay with us but not with my oldest who lives across the US from us but won't get into that. Just hope she solves her problems this year so we don't have to go through another Christmas like last year.
Newest disaster was my hard drive crashing. Due to a manufacturing defect all my data is locked into the hard drive. It will take a special service to retrieve the data. One I know about is Drive Savers. But it will cost upward of $700 to get my data off the drive. That's because they use a clean room and super clean methods to take the thing apart then download what they can get off the files. I'll have to wait till I have the money to do that which will take a while. Luckily, the hard drive was under warranty and has been replaced so now I have to reinstate my passwords everywhere. Pain in the tush! What's equally stupid is I got an external hard drive for xmas but didn't hook it up. Stupid!!! Well now it up and running...that won't happen
to me again but I've lost a lot of info. *sigh*
The timing for that to happen really sucked as my inspiration for writing and drawing was running hot. After this, it's rather hard to get back into the mode again since I still feel depressed about it. But I'll be fine soon. I do spend nearly all my time on deviant art. If you want to see my current work go there to check me out. http://ulyferal.deviantart.com/ I don't change my avatar so you can google my name (ulyferal) and find me in a lot of places.
Hope all my FA friends are doing alright in this uncertain economy. I'm glad I'm retired. I'm tired of the rat race and worries though being retired doesn't mean being free of those but with careful planning we should be alright. How about you all?

Update - If anyone cares
Posted 14 years agoWell the year is closing and we're forced to remain in this boring city. No jobs, so my daughter remains out of work again for a second year, putting up with another couple of years of snow, and hating it. So to make things palatable, I joined a Writer's Group, my middle daughter is taking Kung Fu, my youngest is finishing high school, and my husband opted to keep working in his job rather than retire. At least we can afford our home, make enough to be safe, and are comfortable (even if it isn't where we want to be)
I'm working on my novel, doing research for it now. Submitting two stories (not fan fiction) to a writer's contest, and working on my open fan fics. Just keeping busy. I spend nearly 80% of my time now on DA. You can find me there. I don't change my avatars so its still ulyferal.

Hopes on Hold and a Death in the Family
Posted 14 years agoSince I haven't posted a new journal for a long time figured I'd do it now.
1. We hoped to move and even packed most of our belongings. Well it's a year later, a second attempt at selling our home was another failure, so we have been forced to remain right where we are and my husband won't retire like he hoped. We'll try again when our last child graduates in two more years. Color me angry and sad but accepting what I can't change. I really hate unpacking but it will make us go through out stuff even more and get rid of more junk. The only positive things about this decision is we have a home that we have no problem paying our mortgage for, my husband has a job (even if my daughter can't find one), only a few bills, our health, and enough money to do what we want (mostly).
2. On the heels of this decision, we got me a new Dell Inspirion PC with 1 TB of memory and a new Canon printer so I can pursue my writing career. I also got a new camera for Mother's Day. A Nikon Colorpix S4100.
3. Bad news ruined my daughter's 21st birthday and my Mother's Day. My husband's mother died and we're all devastated. It was sudden but she was 87 so really not that unexpected. She was a sweet person and badly missed. We still went out on our daughter's birthday and celebrated. Her father flew out the next day for the east coast and she had her friends over for her second party with them at our home, a great success and helped to ease her grief. As for Mother's Day, well I'm going to see a movie with my girls and speak to my husband on the phone. He will be distraught since that is the day of the funeral, the burial is Monday. Wish I could be with him but had to borrow money just to send him. At least our oldest daughter lives nearby and will be by his side for this as she was for her grandfather, five years prior. We will truly miss his mother a lot as she dotted on her grandchildren as my mother does not.
4. On the writing front.....I've finished some stories and wrote some more new ones. Have 178 written on ff.net now. One Old Magic (a Harry Potter piece) has drawn over 17,000 readers and it has only 10 chapters. Wow!! My story arc, Wolves of Arcanus: Galactic Intervention is complete. Haven't started the second arc on it yet. Working on my young adult sci fi novel called Jentoren and attempted to finish my many open stories.

Yeah I'm Still Around!
Posted 15 years agoDon't feel the need to make a new journal since I want to keep these stories listed. My family is in the process of selling our home and hoping to buy a new one across the state. Been packing up a storm so haven't had time to write or barely keep up with my mail. Hope to have a little time to finish stories when the main packing is completed in the next week. If you want to read my latest stories check them out at the fanfiction.net address given in my profile. Happy reading.
There be Dragons - Do dragons truly exist? The Pastmaster brings dragons when he visits sometimes but are they magical constructs or did they actual exist? It appears they did and they are living in hiding among Katkind even now. AU, Warning Slash eventually.
Searching for Home - Two Kats fall through a dimensional portal and struggle valiantly to find a way home. Chapters 2 and 6 had major redos for serious error. Had to change the rating to mature due to violence, rape, and sexual terms.
A Soul in Torment - Ganged raped when just a teen and trying to hold his life together into adulthood, an anguished and lonely tom can no longer handle the pain and tries to end his existence. Warning...suicide, mention of rape, slash, graphic sex, and mild violence
Wolves of Arcanus - A race of wolves on a mission arrive on Aristal. To the leader of the insertion team, Lt. Kam, this is a normal mission until he meets a certain Kat that sends his life and heart spiraling out of control. Warning MPREG,hermaphrodite, same sex and graphic
I Don't Want A Mate - Feral's known who his mate is but he'll be damned if he'll accept that person but fate has a way of derailing the best laid plans. Everyone's favorite couple! MPREG, graphic sex
Mistake -Feral has made a grave mistake, one that will change his life forever. Warning MPREG, slash
Vampire Stalker - Dr. Viper is out for revenge and created a nightmare that will drench the city in blood and death.
The Art of Being Naughty - An experiment in writing I wanted to try. A series of short drabbles that tells a story in quick shots at least I hope that's how it will work out. Anyway, its definitely alternate universe, no one is who they are in the show and its male/male action.

Submission Difficulties
Posted 18 years agoI'm still new at this site and I'm finding submissions for stories difficult. My documents are normally wpd not txt. Trying to switch the already posted stories is proving to be teeth grindingly painful. My second submission is wrong. It kept the memory of the first one I posted and reposted it on the second even after I ensure the first was deleted. This site is irritating to use because there seems to be no DELETE KEY. I went around and around for a good hour before giving up. I need that second submission dumped. And I have no intention of making any new submission after this. I can't even find anywhere to ask what to do or to tell someone what my problem is. I am totally frustrated.
If anyone wants to read my stories then they can go to this link and read them. From now on I'll just enjoy the art here and make no more attempts to try and use this place. Be glad when you have your search system operating again.
