Posted 13 years agoSorry, guys, the Hypno Contest isn't gonna happen for me this year. >_< I have too much going on.
I've had a rough year and it really was a heroic struggle even to finish "Stranger Things." I have 3 or 4 more stories that are at least half-done, and I would like to focus on those: Night Drive 2, Arrested 3, Stranger Things 2 and a new story called "Breaking and Entering."
Writing has been a struggle for me lately, and by this point I flat-out don't have time to start and finish the story I'd hand in mind for the contest. The hyena and I leave in a few days for a road trip to spend Christmas with his parents, and there's too much to do. Now my grandmother is in the hospital and while she will probably recover that is a new level of OMG. My work moved over the weekend and of course Christmas is in 8 days. I just don't think 2 weeks is enough time to produce a quality story.
Anyway, I'm sure everybody understands, and think of it this way: the 3rd and final chapter of the "Arrested" series will get here this much sooner. :3
I am available to review/make recommendations on people entering this year (and as a reminder last year I took 3rd). Now there's no reason for me to secretly give you bad advice. ;) Note me.

Posted 13 years agoOK, that was the best con I've attended. And I don't just mean 'furry con.' I mean con in general.
I've been to a whole shitload of anime cons, general nerd cons, and even a specific fetish con, and Midwest FurFest 2012 was the best con I've attended, ever.
I joined the Twitter feed a couple weeks ago just to do it, and their description of the parking situation saved me a ton of time and probably a couple hundred dollars. The Con Suite was a pleasant surprise, I've never been to a con where there is free soda and snacks in a huge room. And seeing Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind (a fucking AMAZING Chicago theatre troupe) again was an experience so amazing most folks won't get a chance to do that IN THEIR LIFETIMES, let alone at a freaking con, let alone included in their registration fee.
And of course I will do some name-dropping in my official report, but the people I got to hang out with were some of the coolest people I've ever gotten to hang out with. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Honestly, I didn't realize how incredibly depressed I've gotten because of all the shit that went down this summer, until I did something truly enjoyable for so many reasons. I can already tell I'm going to get back into writing and hanging out with you guys and doing the other things that actually make me happy.
So my take on MFF...to paraphrase "As Good As It Gets"......you make me want to be a better furry.

I did a quick count of the total views...12 images had 45,000 views among them.
Half of them were failed image uploads, with views in the hundreds. One of them was a simple line drawing of a dog dick, with 4000 views. The next-highest viewed piece for the artist was 39 views.
How pissed would YOU be, if your highest-viewed image, by a factor of one hundred, was a stupid line-drawing you planned to delete ten minutes later, just because of an accident of server fuckery?

Thank you everyone who birthday messaged me. 31 is...a lot like 30.
I have a new nephew as of August 29th. Yes, my birthday is August 28th. OMG IT'S ANOTHER SHEPHERDWOLF D: He looks to be taking after my side of the family, since he's been feeding basically every hour since he was born (including 45 minutes after he came out). This means we'll be chasing him off the roof with a rake by the time he's 7. YEAHHHHHH
I have another new niece/nephew/ferret on the way, for 6 weeks from now (from a different sibling, obviously). My sister and me are the only ones without kids now. !_! She has dogs and I have cats. lol.
My SIL's mom is out of the hospital (after TEN WEEKS) as of Thursday! Thank God. They had to amputate part of her foot
I'm working on Night Drive 2 and that werewolf thing I've been doing for years. No idea which I'll finish first. I'm basically up to the sex in both of them and after that they move pretty quickly. Any requests?
We had to put one of our cats down 2 weeks ago. -_- She was diabetic and we caught it too late to treat. Plus she was a dumpster kitty so I couldn't get her out to treat her without basically chasing her with a needle all the time. It was the saddest thing I have ever done. She was only 9.
Our OTHER cat needed major dental work, because what I thought was a cold was really a tooth infection. o_0 He had to have 7 extractions and it cost me hundreds of dollars, lol. I could have put rims on my car for what I paid for these 2 cats. But the Maine Coon is happy and healthy now so I don't really care. I just do not think I could have lost two in the same month. We're barely holding our shit together as it is. ;____;
This weather has just been disgusting and I can't tell you how happy I am that it's finally cooled off. We had one last heat wave that killed off the last of my pansies and all the vegetables (minus the peppers, they're like AYAYAYAYAY CALIENTE MUCHO GUSTO SI SI) so fuck it. I'm giving up until next year, lol.
Carpentry class is going AWESOME, I absolutely love it. The book alone was worth the cost. Trying not to sexually assault any of my classmates. One of them is in an anger management class. Trying to resist suggesting hypnosis. @_@ BE STRONG BILLY BOY

Posted 13 years agoOkay, look, this isn't about a soggy value meal. This isn't even about one corporation any more. This is about sending a very important message: you cannot openly fuck us over, consequence-free, any more.
This is about the conversations that other corporations are going to be having when they're discussing corporate gift-giving and sponsorship this fall: do they want repeat of this chicken-store incident on their hands? Not if they have brain activity.
What I don't think people realize is, up until this point, any company could openly give to anti-equality organizations and get away with it. Give money to the Klan? Your company won't exist tomorrow. Give money to groups that have equivalent feelings toward homosexuals? Not even considered a political stance!
Until now.
Now it's risky. Being anti-gay is a risky corporate move. And that's a big deal. Soon it will be a risky political move, and then a risky social move, and then years from now we're explaining to our kids that we were denied civil rights by the truckload, and they can't believe it because it's such a foreign concept to them.
THAT'S the point.

Anyway, things have stabilized a great deal for myself and Chris. No one is currently in intensive care, for instance! So that's GREAT! Still got some labor complications in the family but things are quiet for now.
Six months in, the apartment is FINALLY approaching the point where I want it. I couldn't find a kitchen bench I liked so I'm making my own. I've been haunting the consignment shops for a tall file cabinet. So I can file AAAAAALLLLLL my porn in it.
Our one little furry monster (the yearling) was just at the vet's for some kind of autoimmune thing. He got a steroid shot and a microchip and a nailtrim, so as you can imagine that was the worst thing over. Our other monster is going in next week for a possible UTI. Or possible kitty zoloft prescription. She has...issues, lol. BUT WE LOVE HER JUST THE SAME.
AT ANY RATE, the two things you care about:
a) yes, I will be entering Zissy's hypnosis contest again this year, under the pseudonym Mr. Chuckletrousers. Already got an idea I'm preeeettty sure you'll like. I'll be posting it here, so make sure you watch me. HAHA, if you're reading this you're watching me already. So good job!
b) I am working on Night Drive 2, "Snowbound." Sean MacGregor is back, as well as another member of the Carrington University cast.
I'm 20 pages into what's looking like 35 pages for ND2, so keep an eye out for that. Tomorrow's supposed to be another 100-degree day, so wish me luck in not dying! :D CHEERS!

I THOUGHT the PSNetwork offered off-unit storage in "THE CLOUD WHICH IS NOT TOTALLY JUST AN OFF-SITE SERVER AND IS INSTEAD MAGICAL" (which I believe is its official name) but it appears to only offer storage for gamesaves. What the fuck, I don't need to store a 600kb Save, I need to store a 7,000 MB GAME.
We're getting kind of tight here. Chris and I can't be the only ones having this problem.
Not sure about externals, and I would rather have first-paw advice. What do YOU guys use?

including BUILDING a shelving unit for the balcony storage unit (you would be astonished with what I can do with a sheet of plywood and 24 feet of whiteboard)...........fixing the cheap plastic unit and moving that to reorganize the entire on-floor storage unit............and digging through 15 boxes labeled "RANDOM SHIT" that I frantically threw together while evacuating the last place.
I'm so glad we freaking moved to a bigger place with central air. It was 101 today...in May! IN CHICAGO. THE HELL. This summer is going to be disgusting and I would have died in our old place (with only wall units).
Now that the place is in better shape (and looks less like a burglary in process) I can freaking relax and get some writing done. I think this is the longest period I have ever not written in my adult life. I also shaved my head and grew a beard. Mayyyyyyyyybe I'm having a midlife crisis. THOUGHT I'D GET STARTED ON THAT EARLY

still here, still writing. plugging along at work. suffering from nearly-terminal seasonal asthma shit since THE POLLEN COUNT IS THROUGH THE FUCKING ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF thanks to our bizarre Fake-it-Summer-Spring @_@
once the weather gets a bit warmer and stays there i should be a bit more productive. but i didn't, like, quit FA in a rage or nothin :3

Posted 13 years agoSooooooooooooo I'm still alive. Haven't been SUPER-productive, largely because this spring has been Super Amazing Pollen Time.
Spring came about two months early here in the States, so instead of a month of so of trees flowering (which I am catastrophically allergic to), it's, like, three months' worth.
I've been steadily pulling away at Changes, but until my asthma REALLY tanked and I went on prednisone this weekend, I didn't realize how consistently miserable I had been.
SO STOP FUCKING FLOWERING, YOU STUPID TREES, OR I WILL COME OUT THERE WITH A FLAMETHROWER AND...UH...DEFLOWER...YOU that doesn't sound right
ANYWAY I'm really psychotically hyper now because Prednisone is baaaaaaaasically crack, and I built a plant stand. Tomorrow I'm going to stain it. And replant some things. And go to the gym. And do some writing. And maybe shave my head. Because HAIRCUTS ARE INEFFICIENT.

asyr learned that repeated online references to oneself as a spy isn't a great plan when you take a lot of international flights...
TremorWolf learned to keep his dick away from the vacuum cleaner regardless of hose size....and
spotgideon learned that...nevermind hyenas never learn anything
and *I* learned the most important lesson of all! that furries REALLY ACTUALY DO want PLOT in addition to basic wanking material, and it makes the wank all the more...wanky...and thus there really is a point to being a porn writer with a fucntioning frontal lobe and thus my life has meaning...
and more importantly ye gods i need therapy or somethig.

My Little Pony is in Netflix now. it's...as entertaining asany thing else on netflix, i suppose. 'apple teeny' made me LOL IRL
didn't get as much done as i wanted this weekend. chris and i spend 1/4 of my payched at a nursery buying the shit out of some flowers. got some nice planters. the balcony is going to be great. i love dis new plcae
DIDN'T get to make a little pallet for my subwoofer - it's a bazooka tube and it's kind of rolling all over hte place. was going to make a little wooden pallet for it and bolt it to the childseat anchors. insteeeeeeeeeead popped a panel in the back and bungee-corded the woofer to it, lol. cheap fix, wahteves. WOOFERS LOVE BEING RESTRAINED.
soooooooooooo not feeling work tomorrow. i need a vacation >_<
easter .................. sure was a thing. our first alcohol-free holiday...my lil cuz's been sober a month. very proud of him. and thank god, i really thought i was gonna lose another cuz and i just do nott think ti could handle that

i don't know if it's the phase of the moon or what but i'm really cruising now. ORRRRRRR maybe it's the 15 pages i SCRAPPED to start over closer to my original vision, which was, what if you had a BIG motherfucking monster werewolf, and instead of him going all psycho-dom and transforming you, what if YOU could do whatever you wanted to him?
as a result there was like a 5 page fight scene that got scrapped and holy shit just an absolute ton of dialogue. even stuff before the change. i wanted the dynamic to be just right. i'm really in love with these two characters - adam, the cocky 20-something electrican, and dale, the grizzled angry older park ranger.
should be a fun ride.
in other news, the condo is coming along swimmingly. i keep forgetting how HUGE it is without all our shit stacked 7' high in places, lol. i should get it clean just in time for MFF, right as my house is...AHHHHH FILLED WITH FURRIES #_______________________________#
