Artists, Commissions, And Schedules (Oh My!)
Posted 3 years agoI'm not sure what this is. I've never been much of a journal posting kind of guy as you can probably tell from whenever ago was my last journal posting. But unless I have a specific point to make I like to think of it a bit like a diary, I think? A diary that I know people can read. Anyway I wanted to talk about my where I'm currently at and some plans for the future.
Being an artist is exhausting. I'm my own manager, my own work force. From decision to execution I've got to do it all which is pretty tiring at times but I do it all for you! Hopefully in the future though I'll get to the port of warranting some kind of team. I know I'll probably never let anyone else handle any art related stuff but I wouldn't mind a manager that can keep me on a schedule.
Commissions are extra exhausting. Some time ago back when I was in school I only ever had a small reach of popularity, hell I'm still pretty small. But regardless I was smaller so I only ever got commissioned very sparsely. But then one day I started doing vrchat commissions and I seemed to find my niche as since then it's been challenging juggling people coming in wanting to have something done. I have to comb through the inquiries I get, talk to clients about their needs, and then of course I need to actually make the models all nice and pretty and most importantly to what my client ordered. It's really time consuming and something I'm still fully getting used to now as I find the best process of doing things and continue to evolve!
Schedules have never been a thing I've been good at. I'm pretty thankful to the fact that I learned pretty quickly back in school because I'd never make time to (or wanted to) study; I didn't get perfect grades but the only class I ever failed the rest of the class also failed so that time the teacher just was terrible at their job. I've tried a few times to give myself a proper schedule since I'm self employed I know it's really important to do so; but I'm not good at following them. My usual "schedule" as of late is wake up and get on the computer to do a mix of commission work and whatever else comes across my screen. Which honestly is probably not healthy! Hopefully I can actually set a schedule for myself that I can stick to because I've got some plans.
The future is confusing. I think I've found the long winded reason for this post. I haven't been as active with posting art as I used to be since I started taking on commissions and it makes me feel terrible because I know a lot of you do enjoy what I make and I want to give you what you want. I think I'm slowly starting to get a proper handle on the whole commissions business so I'm hoping to start posting regular art again soon, not only that but I have a few other goals in mind like finally using my YouTube channel for actual YouTube videos. I'd love to do analysis videos or something similar, still figuring out what the topic is gonna be.
Thank you for all of my fans who have been sticking around, it really means a lot and whenever I get a favorite or a comment it always warms me up inside knowing that someone did enjoy something that I made! I doubt I'm anyone's "favorite" artist but I'll work hard to change that!

VRChat Commissions
Posted 5 years agoSo this is just a little reminder that I do indeed do vrchat commissions since I get a lot of people asking me about it. I still need to make proper art to announce it but for the long and short of it my commissions cost between $400-$800 depending on the character's design and any added features. If you're interested feel free to shoot me a note and we can discuss.
Seeking Mac iOS Developer
Posted 6 years agoOkay so I'm probably gonna put this journal back down by the time anyone even reads this sentence because I'm a big hard head and I like doing things myself. But I don't have a mac.
So basically I'm trying to find someone that can help me put together what I assume shouldn't be too complex of an app; long story short I want to build a simple VRM based controller using arkit (I think that's the one) so you can control it with your face and emote and all that jazz.
There are a handful of apps I've stumbled upon so far that for the most part features these abilities but non of them work quite the way I want them to.
I'm hoping to use this for light streaming/random twitter and instagram posts; maybe even some vlogs for youtube?
Anyway if any of you know how to do this shoot me a message and we can talk.

Did I Mention I Do VRChat Avatar Commissions?
Posted 6 years agoYeah as far as I know I don't think I've ever done a real announcement for them. But I do avatars for vrchat! I still need to make a more proper announcement but I figure I should do something to acknowledge it xD.
If anyone is interested in having me make their character in 3D for use in the awesome vrchat shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

The End Of V--R?
Posted 7 years agoDramatic title aside, no I'm not stopping making art or anything like that. I am thinking of giving myself a new name!
So over the years I've been V--R and occasionally VRArt1; now why is that? Because unfortunately V--R isn't accepted on all sites whether because it's too short or because the site doesn't accepts - symbols.
Where once my name was original and people would compliment how unique it looked, nowadays everyone assumes it stands for Virtual Reality. Which while I don't mind it and in fact I thought it was super convenient considering I do stuff reality to virtual reality like modeling and games and vtubing stuff. But that becomes a bit of an issue when people are all assuming it off the bat and aren't thinking of me as V--R myself.
The final nail on the coffin, as some of you know I have a website under vrart1.com and I have been trying to get v--r.com for a while now; hoping whoever owned it would stop owning it since I noticed nothing was being put on it. Unfortunately I finally realized why, the person owning the url is one of those url hostage businesses where they buy out nice urls so companies have to pay top dollar; and fucking virtual reality is the cause of them buying v--r.com. I contacted them about it hoping I could buy the url but because of virtual reality they want $8000 for it which is for sure out of my price range.
It really makes me sad to have to put down V--R since I've used it for so long now and it really is who I am, name-wise at least. But the complications that have arisen over the years have me thinking it's time to give myself a new name.
I don't currently know what I want to call myself from now on but no matter what I rebrand to know that I'll still be creating the same awesome and varied content you've all come to know and love! Just with a new signature!
Unfortunately not all sites allow for name changing so that does mean I'll sadly have to make a few new accounts on places; so I hope on those sites you'll be willing to follow my new account!
TL:DR - The username V--R is starting to give me problems because of Virtual Reality being a thing so I'm planning on renaming myself. Unfortunately not all sites let you change names so I hope you'll follow my new accounts!

Posted 8 years agoHey guys, just wanted to let out a quick announcement that now I've got a new character folder for Bobby & Sammy for added browsing convenience!

MEGAPLEX 2017
Posted 8 years agoHello my lovelies, just wanted to make a quick announcement! As some of you guys know, I will be making an appearance at Megaplex 2017! I go every year and always have a blast. It's so much fun talking and drawing with the other artists, meeting fans, selling stickers and sketches. I spend pretty much all my time in the artist alley.
If ANY of you guys will be attending then please send me a message because I'd love to meet you guys and give you a big hug!
As a result of this that means I will not be online from August 3-6. I'll still of course be available on Discord for chatting and questions and all that jazz but I won't be able to post/create any new art until afterwards. Maybe that's why I've been in overdrive these past few days trying to make up for that gap.
I'm serious though if any of you guys are attending please message me because I want to meet my loving fans!
Also lastly be sure you're following me on Twitter since I'm gonna be posting various updates to keep you all in the loop. I'll also be announcing when I get a table in the artist alley since apparently this year (for some reason) the artist alley instead of being run with a list of people instead it's going to be entirely randomized by lottery; makes no sense but whatever it's their alley. So keep an eye out for when I post and announce that I've got myself a table! Maybe this year I'll even remember to take a picture of it to show you guys how it looks all set up.

Tech Support Trauma
Posted 8 years agoI rarely make journals because I'm not very interesting; but today was different. It started out nice with my waking up bright and early and actually having energy instead of feeling like shit. Took an early shower and shaved and made myself all nice and pretty for the day. But then tragedy struck!
My computer wasn't booting up.
Naturally I had the sane reaction that anyone in my situation would go into. I entirely shut down and went into panic mode and called a friend to take me as quickly as he could to Best Buy in hopes that literally anyone there could fix this issue so that I could get back on my computer! What transcribed there has solidified to me why I will NEVER go Geek Squad for tech support again.
I went in still half mentally panicking while in my mind thinking that everyone in Geek Squad clearly must have ample training or at the least the knowledge and capability to sort through all possibilities to identify the problem and then be able to suggest courses of actions to fix it. It's what anyone should expect from a tech support group right? What I was greeted with was the exact opposite from the start.
Started off fine with them asking me what was wrong and plugging up the computer so they could see themselves; that was all they did right and even then halfway. The very next moment I watched in half amazement in the fact that the two (so the guy even had backup to make this mistake) stared at the screen which currently had been set to PC source despite the fact that they had connected my computer to the monitor through HDMI; I had to switch the source for them. It was a bad start but I figure maybe it's just a monitor they weren't used to or whatever since I enjoy giving people the benefit of the doubt. The next step they did was literally what I had already been doing at home, running the system/hardware check that had already appeared on my computer at home. A bit annoying considering I had already told them I ran it and that they could see the results in the test logs but they clicked to do the test anyway and were greeted with the much longer 5 hour full test version that I hadn't gone through with.
At this point they had so far done everything wrong and everything about them had solidified that they didn't know what they were doing. The next thing they did since they clearly didn't know how to even determine the problem, was to suggest leaving it overnight with them to check, for $100. I can understand the possibility that it'd take longer than a quick look on a counter to find an issue, but when you can't even change a monitor source to match the input of a computer and the only test you do is one that I had already done prior and then you tell me to fork over $100 to leave it in their care. Fuck off. I decided I was out of there because all that was gonna happen was I was gonna be out $100 and the next day they'd find plenty of errors to charge me for that I bet weren't even there to begin with.
To add insult to injury when they were going to close out of the menu to turn off the computer they unplugged the keyboard and then attempted to use it until I pointed out that the keyboard was unplugged.
Then I got home, talked with a tech friend, and before long windows literally fixed itself when I plugged in a usb with windows 10 on it.
I will never go back to Geek Squad.
TL:DR - My computer wasn't booting up. Geek Squad allows untrained employees to handle customers. With the help of a friend windows fixed itself.

Fursuit Suggestions???
Posted 8 years agoSo I don't have any definite plans, but I was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the direction of someone that you think could make an appropriate Vii head/partial suit. I know I would want it to nicely match up with my art style and it'd be nice but not necessarily but it'd be cool if I could have a jaw that moves when I talk and the kind of eyes that are always looking. Plus a little cute heart tail I could attach to my jeans~. Lastly the gloves and hooves but those are less of a priority.
I figure if I could get one it'd be fun to use in YouTube videos and I could occasionally wear it to conventions.

Psssst- I Updated The Folders
Posted 8 years agoHeya, just wanted to let you all know something real quick. In order to make it an easier browsing experience I've added three new gallery folders under an entirely new folder grouping. Recurring Characters! I've made it to group together characters that I do a lot like my own characters, but that aren't mine. Currently within the grouping are VOCALOID, UTAU, and MORENATSU.
That's all.

Computer? Computer!
Posted 8 years agoOh yeah. I just noticed something, I forget to tell you all something important!!!
Okay so some of you may have noticed I recently started posting up more often like I used to. That's because I was able to finally replace my computer! I however am an idiot and only just remembered to actually let you guys know.
The fundraiser didn't get anywhere close to the amount I needed but I already knew that would happen, even so the amount that was donated for sure helped make it more easier on my bank. What I wasn't able to raise in the fundraiser I covered with my bank; which still hates me to this day; especially considering I ended up with a computer that was about $200 more than I originally thought I'd be paying.
But whatever, at least I'm able to once again make fabulous art for all of you lovely people!
I'm hoping to open another fundraiser to help me save up for a new tablet (that's been broken for who knows how long if the severe lack of 2D art wasn't a hint). Since it's not as much of a necessity that means it'll be much more calm and can go on for a longer time. I'll post an image with a link at some point so keep an eye out for it and consider donating if you want to see me get back to 2D art!

Health Update
Posted 8 years agoOkay so I recently did a check up and I seem to still be pretty good. It's a new doctor so he's recommending that I get a check of everything like blood and stuff.
I was told that my blood pressure is a bit high so I need to make some small changes in my life in order to avoid having to take blood pressure medicine at 21; soon to be 22. Apparently on my grandfather's side his entire family has high blood pressure so I'm hoping I'm not doomed from the start because of that.
So in order to try to curve off the chances of some serious medical issues I have been trying to be more active. Exercising, walking, I ate a fucking salad. I'm actually fairly good with it, I enjoy exercising because it's mainly just repeating the same action over and over until you look like a Greek god. All I really need to do is put on a show I want to watch on my phone and get to it. I've also been doing more walking with my sister, we enjoy going out together and catching Pokemon via Pokemon Go~.
As far as the salad goes; it tasted like nothing to me. I know people love it, I know people hate it, I have no opinion on it. So I'm hoping to get more salads into me since that's healthy and all that. I have however learned I entirely hate tuna so I'm never putting that in a salad again. The salad I ate had a lot of stuff in it: peas, spinach, carrots, broccoli, tuna, and a hard boiled egg. I actually enjoy broccoli probably if only because I like the crunch, I'm a big cruncher. The rest of it tasted like nothing; except maybe the peas they felt like they had too much water in them.
One thing that majorly sucks is my first day back to the gym (Tuesday) was all fine and dandy but when I got home the air conditioning was broken so I felt like I was in hell.
ANYWAY, here's hoping that these attempts at being more healthy will lead me to regular blood pressure levels once more as well as maybe shaving off some weight. I don't really plan on losing all of it since I don't mind being chubby and I'm sure my fans would rampage if I ever drew Vii skinny.
TL:DR = Blood pressure slightly high, getting in more exercise and veggies to fix it.

Birthday Plans
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone! As probably a handful of you know, my birthday is coming up! Just 10 days left until April 6. I think I'm getting to the age where you don't care about as much for your birthday though because I just feel drained. My declining enjoyment aside though I'll probably end up streaming so I do hope you'll all attend!
If any of you want to give me a present I love fanart of my characters, comments on my submissions, active people viewing my streams, and people joining my Patreon/donations to my Ko-Fi. If you donate to my Ko-Fi around now to my birthday I'll be considering it a present and will probably use it to buy a game or a sandwich depending on how many I get or if I get any at all.

RIP Halloween Update
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to write this since I'm sure at least one of you suspects I'm dead since I didn't post anything on Halloween. I'm not dead I was just sick and stuck in bed all fucking Halloween. Which really sucked because as some of you know I was planning on doing a lot of stuff from watching scary movies to streaming for all of you guys! But no, instead my body decided it wanted to be sick. On the plus side though I still dressed up so it wasn't an entire bust?
Anyway, Vampire Miku will live on! When you least expect it she will appear, ready for her leek candies. So you better keep them handy~.

Updates? What do you guys want UPDATED?
Posted 9 years agoHi everyone. So to put it simply, I want to see what you guys want UPDATED. I every so often like to redo an old outfit or character and it's always so much fun to see how different it looks this time around (normally for the better).
So what I'm asking here is, are there any of my old posts that you think I should redo and bring up to the VR4 generation? Let me know, I just might redo it!

Megaplex Aftermath
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone! I am back from Megaplex and all kinds of eager to get back to work!!! I'll be giving you guys a little recap of what my time at Megaplex 2016 was like.
Friday morning around 6 AM marks the beginning of Megaplex 2016 for me. Along with Revolt we drove along the long near five hour stretch of road as we made our way to Orlando. Unfortunately pleasant wasn't the best way to describe my first feeling upon arriving since when we arrived at the host hotel around 10 we really felt unwelcome by the hotel staff. I remember feeling like the valet just wanted us out of the place. Since the parking was full we were rerouted back to a nearby 7/11 that had parking available behind it so after getting a spot and getting our stuff ready it was time to enter! It was nice to see the big hotel and the increased space that Megaplex seemed to have this year, at least until I figured out it wasn't quite as big as I first thought.
As some of you may know my favorite part of Megaplex is getting to be a part of the Artist Alley, making friends with fellow artists, working on sketches and quick commissions in a nice environment. This year instead Artist Alley was fused with the Dealers Den and was limited to one wall with what I think was 16 tables? Considering the fact that last year the Artist Alley was it's own section in the hallway near the entrance to the convention leading up to the Dealers Den and there were easily double the tables, this was a major let down. Regardless I didn't let it get me down and it was a lot of fun walking around the Dealers Den and seeing the awesome artists that inhabited it; I was really surprised to meet Kenket it was awesome (I even got their autograph~).
So after making the rounds and checking out all the tables to see if there was anything I'd like to buy I decided to wait until an Artist Alley table became available, it wouldn't be for a few more hours before that would happen. So when one finally popped up I was all excited and waited for the previous artist to make their way out so I could stake my claim and get set up for an awesome day. Few minutes later I'm set up and shut down. Apparently they had decided out of the blue to set up a wait list/queue type thing which I was all for but since it was majorly out of the blue and I wasn't even aware of it it was severely annoying that right after I had everything set up I was informed of it and booted out of my table. What annoys me the most is that I'm sure that the idea for the waiting list was birthed way after I began waiting for a table to pop up. But whatever, I decided to play nice and get out of the table to join the "official" queue of my fellow rejected artists.
Unfortunately I didn't make it far in the waiting list since when it came around 3 PM it was time for Revolt and I to head out and check into our hotel. Our hotel was thankfully only a two minute drive away so it wasn't too far but when we got there and relax in the bed it was already pretty much decided that that was the end of the day for us. The rest of the day was spent relaxing in a nice air conditioned room with a king sized bed~! Plus we ordered pizza and watched Zootopia so for sure it was not a missed opportunity for the day.
Saturday morning! Alright, bright and early we rose. I was determined to get there as early as I could so I could secure a spot for the day or at least not have to wait too long for one to become available to me. I was wrong. I got there around 9:45 AM, I didn't get in until around 5 PM. The line was soooo slow in moving since obviously no one wanted to leave the Artist Alley. I ended up only being able to make it for two hours because of this but on the plus side I did manage to sell a few stickers and buttons so that was awesome. Plus during the (annoyingly long) time I was waiting in line I had a perfect seat for the Fursuit Parade! It was really awesome seeing the many many MANY fursuits parading down the hall; I ended up getting almost half an hours worth of video from it. After the long day of waiting though and the fact I couldn't get in until the day was pretty much over I ended up feeling a little depressed which I was worried was going to end up ruining my trip.
Sunday morning!!! I ended up waking up a bit too early accidentally even though I was planning on going around 6 AM so I could make sure I was within the first group of people to get into the Artist Alley. Around 8 is when I finally decided I would head down to the convention so I could begin the long wait. Thankfully this time around though I managed to get there on time since I was set to be in the first group of artists to get in. They were also including in a new thing where artists could only be at a table for four hours before they would be switched out for someone else waiting for a turn. If only they had included that the other days then I might've had more of a chance. By 9:55 AM we were let in with a five minute window before 10 AM so we could set up and be ready for the con-goers to come in and inspect our wares.
Around now I can finally tell you guys what my table was like, I had a nice binder with a few examples of my work to a corner. My sketchbook and pad in front of me so I could doodle and work on fresh examples as I waited for someone to check out my table. I had a bunch of stickers and buttons all along the front of my table with a price sheet that next year I'll have to make sure is more visible since I feel like a lot of people weren't aware I was selling the stickers and buttons, let alone sketches.
Sunday was a lot more fun since I pretty much was able to stay for the whole day since there were a lot less artists waiting in line (I imagine the previous two days of uncertainty killed off some of them). I was able to make some new friends with the artists sitting next to me and was able to sell and sketch a lot more~. All I know is that I cannot wait for the next year, I'm all eager to get back to it! I'm thinking that I'll check out some more conventions and maybe widen up my "tour" schedule. Do you guys know any furry conventions or anime conventions that you'd like for me to make an appearance at? I'd love to meet my fans wherever they are!!!
TL:DR - Friday I felt unwelcome and was kicked off my table after having waited multiple hours for it but did have fun browsing the dealers den. Saturday I waited all day in the line and was able to enjoy the fursuit parade before finally being let in for only two hours. Sunday I was able to be in the Artist Alley all day and had a lot more fun and made some new friends. Do you guys know an anime or furry convention you'd like for me to make an appearance in? If so let me know below and I might add it to my "tour".

Call me Vii and let me know you're a fan.
What/where will you be eating?
Will vary each day.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?

Can I take your picture?
Don't know why you'd want to, I'm not cute in real life.

2D Art and 3D Learning Rejoice! Patreon Updates!
Posted 9 years agoOkay so first off, wow it's been forever since I've written a journal hasn't it? Okay now that that is out of the way, I've got some big updates for my Patreon!!!
For those of you who love me for my cute and sparse 2D art you'll be very happy to know that now my Patreon contains both my 3D art AND 2D! I've finally updated it so that now my 2D art is a part of it just like it is everywhere else (I really should've done this since the beginning).
From now on I'll be posting .PSD and .LIP files whenever I finish a 2D piece and I'll be posting .RAR files at the end of the month containing the many many many sketches I draw but never end up finishing so that you can enjoy them!
For those of you who want to learn 3D then also rejoice because I've included a new tier that will be focusing on learning, I'll be posting tutorials as well as tips and tricks and stuff that will have the focus on making sure that you improve and learn something new! Patrons of this tier will also be able to request redlining sessions where I will point out any flaws or errors I see in your art or model as well as make suggestions on how to fix or improve them. Because of these redlining sessions I'll be limiting for now the amount of patrons allowed in it to 10 so I don't have too many to do at once.
I hope you'll consider joining my Patreon and supporting my art, you guys have no idea how inspirational it is knowing I have your support!
