Run for the Roses 2025
Posted 7 months agoHello all! Its that time again, celebrating the iconic "Run for the Roses" of the Kentucky Derby with a free giveaway event!
I've run this even a few times and decided to do so again this year. The rules are simple. Pick a pole position, and if your horse wins the event, you get a prize, a free themed commission from me! The race is May 3rd, so all entries must be in by then.
Rules of Play:
Leading up to the Kentucky Derby, contestants will each choose 1 horse from the presented list of 20 participating horses.
There are sometimes more horses in the race, but 20 is usually the most stable estimate, so it cuts off at 20.
Only 1 "rider" to a horse. Once its been picked, its out of the selection pool.
For simplicity, since the race a few positions may change dramatically without warning, each player is assigned to the initial post position, rather than the actual horse (As of May 3rd)
If your horse is removed before the race, send me a note. If available, you may select another horse. If no horse is available, you will be paired up on another horse, selected at random by rolling a 20 sided die.
The player who selects the winning horse wins a prize
If no one selects the winning horse, the second place horse is treated as winner. This continues down the line until all winners are selected.
First Place: One full colour commission of a single character. In keeping with the derby theme, this should be equine or derby themed. (E.G. horses, centaurs, equitaurs, MLP or just involving the race in some way, like a character in a fancy hat.

Run for the Roses 2021 (1 Slots Available)
Posted 4 years agoGreetings all! Last year, as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was unable to hold my annual "Run for the Roses" to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. While the past year was, in the understatement of the decade, tough, I am happy to announce that it seems like I'll be able to resume the event this year!
So, a few little reminders as to what this free event entails:
The Kentucky Derby is easily the most recognizable horse-race in the world, bringing together racers from all over the world for an exciting 2-minute sprint at the historic Churchhill Downs in Kentucky. Mint Juleps and fancy hats abound! Its worth a watch in its own right, but TF makes it even better, you'll find. The rules are pretty simple. Pick the winning horse for the May 1st race, win a prize!
In 2019, we filled ALL 20 SLOTS! Can we do it again! I think we can! Spread the word!
Rules of Play:
Leading up to the Kentucky Derby, contestants will each choose 1 horse from the presented list of 20 participating horses.
- There are sometimes more horses in the race, but 20 is usually the most stable estimate, so it cuts off at 20.
- Only 1 "rider" to a horse. Once its been picked, its out of the selection pool.
- I have not posted the post-list yet, because the lineup fluctuates wildly in the leadup to the actual race.
- For simplicity, since the race a few positions may change dramatically without warning, each player is assigned to the initial post position, rather than the actual horse (As of May 1st)
- If your horse is removed before the race, send me a note. If available, you may select another horse. If no horse is available, you will be paired up on another horse, selected at random by rolling a 20 sided die.
The player who selects the winning horse wins a prize
- If no one selects the winning horse, the second place horse is treated as winner. This continues down the line until all winners are selected.
As I mentioned, the more slots that are taken the more prize slots open up. Here is the tentative list. Suggestions for higher prize brackets welcome!

Character Design Contest and Other News
Posted 5 years agoI would like to begin by expressing my sincere well-wishes to anyone who follows and supports my art, as well as your friends, families and communities to remain healthy and safe during these troubled times, and that any economic hardship resulting from these necessary preventative measures are short-term. It is in this time of social isolation that empathy and connectiveness, especially remote connection, becomes especially important. I would like to take this moment to thank the community for all of the support of my work and for that connectivity.
I have always found that creative pursuits are a fantastic outlet to keep oneself sane and I would like to do my part to help where I can, however small that help may be. To that end, I am happy to announce a new month-long character design contest for the month of April. The rules are simple:
- To enter, you must, by April 30th, 2020, publicly post your entry and mention this contest. Entries can either be drawings or detailed descriptions (At least a paragraph). Characters will be judged on concept and originality, and they must be detailed enough that an artist can draw them from the image and the description.
- Since so many are stuck inside right now, the theme will be "Into the Wilds", focusing on adventuring and exploration. Your character must embody these concepts in some way.
- At the end of April, I will select winners and make full colour drawings of the top 3. With enough entrants, I reserve the right to bring in guest judges or community voting, including the possibility of additional guest drawn prizes.
- Please spread this contest and feel free to ask me any questions you may have on this contest!
Good luck and have fun!

Posted 6 years agoTommorow, Dec 12 will be the final Full Moon of the decade. I realized that the first of the Moonlight Maidens Werewolf series was completed in May of 2010 (wow). To celebrate a decade of my werewolf art, I'll be revisiting these lovely lycanthropes, aided by the attached poll. Vote for up to 3 of your choices!

Run for the Roses 2019
Posted 6 years agoIt's that time of year again! Each year, I run a little free contest on my page celebrating the Kentucky Derby with commissions as prizes!
Pick the winning horse for the May 4th race, win a prize!
Last year, we filled ALL 20 SLOTS! Can we do it again! I think we can! Spread the word!
Rules of Play:
Leading up to the Kentucky Derby, contestants will each choose 1 horse from the presented list of 20 participating horses.
There are sometimes more horses in the race, but 20 is usually the most stable estimate, so it cuts off at 20.
Only 1 "rider" to a horse. Once its been picked, its out of the selection pool.
I have not posted the post-list yet, because the lineup fluctuates wildly in the leadup to the actual race.
For simplicity, since the race a few positions may change dramatically without warning, each player is assigned to the initial post position, rather than the actual horse (As of May 5th)
As I mentioned, the more slots that are taken the more prize slots open up. Here is the tentative list. Suggestions for higher prize brackets welcome!

Big Announcements!
Posted 6 years agoHello all!
As the power of Winter wanes and the Court of the Queen of Summer takes its place on the seasonal throne, I hope that you are all enjoying the changes in your respective seasons, whichever hemisphere you find yourselves in. I've been wanting to do this for a while, so a lot of big announcements today. This may be a lengthy journal so for those who ascribe to a TLDR mentality, here's the general breakdown:
Shift in Focus!
Kroashent Updates!
New Projects!

Shift in Focus
So here's the big one. As anyone who takes a look at my gallery can tell, I am a big fan of transformation art. I think it is a great niche with endless possibilities. But that said, I am a little worried about getting stuck in a rut and have been bored with some of the more vanilla, storyless TF images. I still love them, but may dial back to give myself room to reassess what I want to do as an artist. So what does this mean?
Basically, I am choosing to expand away from fan-TFs and focus on original works. Basically, I hope to shift into higher-quality productions with better anatomy, design and skill. I will still be posting a lot of TF work, but expect some other things mixed in as well.
This year, I want to expand beyond a few galleries into the larger TF communities as a whole and reach out to other artists, creators and fans beyond the small circle that I regularly connect with. I hope to be more interactive with all of you, so please keep the comments coming! I love to discuss TF and my work, as well as your own creative endeavours! Feel free to share links my work and gallery with other artists, groups and friends, and to share with me your own works or just cool pictures you think I will enjoy. You guys make all of this possible, so don't be afraid to reach out to me!
I especially would be interested if anyone can share any groups or discussion boards they think I should submit too or join to share an improve my art.
Kroashent Updates
The simplest answer is that a lot of my enjoyment is currently focused on a project near and dear to me, my original fantasy setting, Kroashent. I've been shifting towards creating content for that to turn it from a scribbled pipedream into an actual creation that I can share with all of you. Your support so far has been phenomenal, and I hope you all continue to follow me to see the adventures of Kathalia, Gwae, Morgiana and others as they go from one-dimensional reference art to hopefully fully realized characters you will come to love as much as I do. I'm hoping to make these characters feel like more than TF fodder. Don't worry, there will still be a ton of transformation art! Here are a few things to expect:
WorldAnvil. I've recently discovered a pretty amazing tool called WorldAnvil, a worldbuilding database to keep all of my notes in order. This has already proved immensely helpful and is probably the biggest reason I feel confident enough to make this shift. You can read all about Bedouar, the fantastic world of Kroashent, its creatures and characters here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/bedouar-kroashent Feel free to follow me on that page and leave comments! I really appreciate the feedback. I will be reposting some of the finished entries here when they are done. The website is free, and you can see the pages without an account, but to comment or receive notices, you will need to set up an account. This is a WIP project, but you can see a lot of cool lore and backstories that don't fit into my normal art rotation. I hope you all follow my work there!
Ar Chase Gouez. I've posted a few pages of the Ar Chase Gouez (Wild Hunt) prologue, featuring the savage sorceress, Aelez. I have not been very happy with the overall results beyond a few panels and Aelez herself and think I will try something new. Rather than a webcomic, I'll be shifting into a more prose-heavy form, an illustrated story mixing text and pictures. I think this will show off more of the world and story, without forcing panels of clunky exposition or months of slowly moving setup. Still working out the details on how this will occur, so the next pages are being delayed for the meantime. I'll be making an official cameo sheet, so feel free to suggest your own OCs if you want them to have a spot!
You may have noticed a series of polls based on standard fantasy classes recently, and some mysterious pictures promising a May reveal. I don't think its a spoiler to say the two are related, but I think you will really enjoy the results of this ambitious project, with 26 fully coloured pages, 12 short stories and counting. Keep an eye on my gallery for more information!
Keep an eye out for a new part to the centaur story soon.
The Kingdom Hearts Otherworld Challenge is still ongoing, but has taken a backseat to the massive project for May. Check out the details here https://www.deviantart.com/kathalia.....Open-781574710 and keep and eye out for more. Plenty of trade spots still left!
I am thinking of making loreposts on a regular basis, so please ask questions to my characters or about the setting. I'll be introducing some new character soon, like the trickster-enchantress Morgiana, The Morrigan: Queen of Winter, the Redcap Assassin Morchaint and those are just the "M"s (I swear that the prevalence of that letter is not intentional. There are a lot of "M" names in mythology that I want to reference). Stay turned for a host of other characters.

Let's make 2019 a great year for Art and Community!
Otherworlds Collaboration Project (Trades Open)
Posted 7 years agoA few years ago, I tried my hand at a creative meme based on Kingdom Hearts, placing my character, Kathalia in the worlds of Disney featured in the game. Check it out here: https://www.deviantart.com/kathalia.....Meme-272904662
Now, 14 years after Kingdom Hearts 2, looks like #3 will finally be actually released and that seems like a great opportunity to revisit this fun project, but with a few new twists. Firstly, this time, I am planning on including both Kathalia and Gwae . Secondly, I am considering opening up a few slots as an art trade that will work like this: Pick a "world" listed below and draw Kathalia https://www.deviantart.com/kathalia.....heet-561073219 and Gwae https://www.deviantart.com/kathalia.....heet-561073986 as they would appear as "natives" of that world. In exchange, I will draw something two characters of your choice!
Contact me if you are interested and would like a trade. A few quick rules:
1) Trade must be equivalent. A single image of 2 characters for 2 characters, full colour. Drawings only because of the nature of the project. Sorry writers.
2) Please send me examples of your artwork. I reserve the right to accept/declines a trade. I put a lot of effort and time into my drawings and sadly don't have a lot of free time for drawing, so art needs to be a certain quality. Please don't be offended if I turn you down. I am happy to give you advice on improving your art, but for this project I am looking for something fairly particular
3) I will try and be prompt in finishing my side, but can't guarantee a quick turnaround time.
4) Have fun!
I have listed the worlds that I know of below (Asterisk means "rumored" worlds. Will update further when KH3 actually drops). Bold Worlds are already claimed.
Worlds:

Reach out to me if you are interested and have fun!!
Worlds:
1. Normal
2. Timeless River (Steamboat Willy/Classic Animation)
3. Colosseum/Mount Olympus (Hercules) - Greek style clothing or mythological creatures (centaurs, harpies, Medusae, Etc.)
4. Agrabah (Aladdin) - Arabian style clothing or Djinn
5. Atlantica (Little Mermaid) - Mermaids and Cecaelia
6. Halloween Town (Nightmare Before Christmas) - Halloween Themes (Monsters, Ghosts, Vampires, Witches, Etc.)
7. Monstro/Pleasure Island (Pinocchio) - Donkeys
8. Neverland (Peter Pan) - Fairies, Pirates, Mermaids
9. 100 Acre Wood (Winnie the Pooh)
10. Deep Jungle (Tarzan) - Jungle/Explorer style clothing
11. Pridelands (Lion King) - Lions, Antelopes, other African animals)
12. Space Paranoids (Tron) - Tron Outfits

Run for the Roses 2018 (All Slots Taken)
Posted 7 years agoIt's that time of year again! Each year, I run a little free contest on my page celebrating the Kentucky Derby with commissions as prizes!
Pick the winning horse for the May 5th race, win a prize!
I've been pretty bad about setting this event up long enough in advance, so this year we're going to get out ahead of that particular horse (Pun very much intended). Each year, about 20 horses run in the historic "Run for the Roses", and this year, I'm aiming to fill ALL the post positions! The more people who enter, the more prize slots will open up and the more chances to win! Last year we filled ALL 20 slots! Can we do it again?! So please, spread the word and let's make this the biggest Derby event yet!
As I mentioned, the more slots that are taken the more prize slots open up. Here is the tentative list. Suggestions for higher prize brackets welcome!

New Kroashent Project (Ar Chase Gouez)
Posted 7 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/267.....#cid:127788563
A little over a year ago, I posted the first real sequence based on my original series, Kroashent, a quick werewolf sequence to celebrate Halloween. You can read that series here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21306892/
The response was amazing, and it inspired me to really start pushing the boundaries on developing these characters, and more importantly, share their adventures with you. The series will be an action-fantasy with plenty of transformations thrown in. This has been on the backburner for a while, but I am finally ready to move forward and hope you enjoy the series!
A few logistical things. First off, I am planning this as a longer, ongoing project. Right now, I am aiming for at least 1 update a month, but hoping to have more than that once it gets rolling. It will be at a slower pace than Moonlit Tavern (1 drawing a night is really hard to pull off with the level of polish I want to use and that sequence basically took me all summer and then some to finish), but it will hopefully be generally steady with occasional "burst posting" for higher intensity sequences. This will allow me to post other, unrelated art as well. Like Moonlit Tavern, it will be a mix of comics panels and written story. As always, feedback is always welcomed and encouraged! Don't be shy! This will be a pretty in depth project, so support is much appreciated! Check out below for a special offer
Some background:
The world of Kroashent is based on Celtic mythology, especially of the Brittany region of northern France. The barrier between the worlds has become strained, with the Fairy Otherworld and the Human realms bleeding into each other, while other realities seep into the scarred landscape. Kathalia (the redhead) is a former Paladin who has fallen from grace and turned to life as a highwayman/sellsword, while carving out a bloody path of revenge against those who wronged her. Gwaeron (with the silver hair) is a Fae magic weilder who has become an agent of a powerful merchant's guild. Together, they try to traverse the chaotic world, while dealing with their own pasts and hidden agendas. I really wanted to use this as an opportunity to work out their expressions and personalities a bit more than stand-alone pictures can do. I've tried to do some worldbuilding in this sequence, so I'll put some "artist's notes" in the descriptions for any of the In-Universe stuff, in addition to trying my hand at a written story to coincide with each part.
How can you help?:
For Moonlit Tavern, I opened the sequence up to "cameos" by original characters to populate the backgrounds, and they led to some of my favourite parts of the drawing. I would love to do that again, so please leave any characters you want to have appear in the backgrounds in the comments below. This time, going to specify a few things because of the nature of the series:
Category: Please let me know which of the following you would be ok with your character's role: Normal: (Human or Human-like only, with some exceptions.) You would not like your character transformed or wounded in a battle. Transformed: (Anthro characters are welcome, but may be drawn as a human at some point) The character is free to be transformed if needed. Dark: (Anthro characters are welcome, but may be drawn as a human at some point) The character has no limitations as to how they can be used. If you have a special request as to something you do not want to happen to your character, send a note. (Includes battles and transformations)
Because Kroashent is a fantasy series, your characters may be altered slightly to fit with the feel of the world.
Kroashent: Ar Chase Gouez (The Wild Hunt)
An ominous sound echoes across the rolling hills of Carnac as a heavy fog roll across the landscape, swallowing up the villages and hamlets in its mists. As Kathalia and Gwae work frantically to uncover its mysteries, they find themselves against a challenge stronger than they have ever faced before, one that will push their abilities to the limit, threatening their loyalties and their lives as the evil within turns its eyes on them....

Critique event!
Posted 9 years agoLooking for constructive feedback on my works to push myself to the next level of skill and running a little event as incentive. Here's how it works.
Pick two works in my gallery, one you think is the best, one you think is the worst and give me a detailed critique on each. I am really looking to improve, so the more detailed the better!
In exchange, you'll win a 5 x 8 pencil sketch of whatever you want! If enough people take part, I'll upgrade one of the sketches (randomly chosen by die roll) to a full inked picture or even a colored picture depending on how many people respond! Since a lot of people are both here and on deviantart, you can do both and receive a second sketch, but you must choose different pictures on the two sites.
Thanks!

For simplicity, since the race a few positions may change dramatically without warning, each player is assigned to the initial post position, rather than the actual horse (As of May 7th)
As I mentioned, the more slots that are taken the more prize slots open up. Here is the tentative list. Suggestions for higher prize brackets welcome!

Characters Wanted (Open Contest)
Posted 11 years agoOriginal characters can be awesome and intriguing designs, as varied and expressive as their creators. As a quick side exercise, I'm looking to do a little bit of practice for character design and figure drawing, and am opening it up for suggestions. The contest will go from now until the end of the month. I will be choosing 3 characters from those suggested and trying my hand at drawing them as a free sketch! A few quick notes:
-To enter a character for consideration, simply post a comment on this journal.
-Creator-owned characters only. Characters from comics, stories or webcomics are acceptable if you are the artist/writer. Don't submit someone else's character (unless they have given you permission to use them)
-These are simple, one-shot sketches. Nothing too complex please!
-Please include a brief description of the character and their name. Feel free to include a setting if one is not obvious and a general theme for the picture. Linking written descriptions or reference drawings is a plus!
-The character does not need to be a human.
-The drawings will be basic character portraits, not TF. Exceptions apply if your character is a shapeshifter or otherwise has TF built into their storyline.
-Please nothing from Sonic-verse or Homestuck. Nothing against those fandoms, I just don't feel like drawing them for this.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment or note!
Good luck!

Queen of TF: FA edition
Posted 11 years agoLadies, Gentlemen, people who are unsure because of recent genetic experimentation and/or magic! Welcome to the Queen of Transformation fighting game tournament!
Queen of TF is a multi-media transformation-based event, featuring some of the most badass characters in video games, comics, anime and other fandom icons, all together in a user-decided battle royale to decide who will be victorious.
The rules are simple. Characters are paired off in brackets and you, the players, choose the victor. This is a single elimination contest, so each winner progresses to the next bracket, and the loser is transformed into some sort of animal. The winners face off until they reach the end.
When I've done this in the past, it been a simple before/after picture. Going into further detail this time, showing some of the events as the story unfolds in pictures, sequences and literature deviations in an attempt to try new stuff outside the box to keep it fun.
On to some of the details.
1. The main contest is on my Deviantart page. You can get to it here.http://kathalia.deviantart.com/. The contests are decided by poll, so feel free to vote in them if you have an account. For those playing our home game, Furaffinity does not have polls. To make up for this, comments on this site will be treated as votes unless i figure out a different way to do this and are then factored into the results. Suggestions for transformations are always welcome on these.
2. When I've tried this before, some awesome people offered to help with stories, descriptions and the like! This is always appreciated and can be a lot of fun (as I hope the villain's contest was for everyone). This is a community project already by its nature of user-voting, so if you want to participate more with art or stories, just note me! I'll be happy to add it to the official gallery and link it for all to see.
3. While the main event is DA based, I am trying to use this account more than I do so, there will probably be some FA-exclusives for my watchers and/or lurkers here.
On to fun stuff.
The basis for the tournament is that Makatsa, a result of an evil super soldier hybridization program, has overtaken the facility and is trying to choose a commander to serve her in her crusade against reality. Using a reality altering device, she has summoned 16 fighters to the island to determine the strongest. Of course, she has uses for the losers too. Not as humans, of course, but they can still be useful. How the fighter's fare will be in the player's hands!
Any questions?
