Commission Opening!
General | Posted a year agoHappy Early Holidays everyone! I'm in the mood to do some fun writing, and so...
With the season approaching, I'm opening up for a couple story commissions! Let's say two slots for now, but if there are shorter ideas I may accept more.
You can find my pricing and TOS here: https://www.furaffinity.net/commiss.....valiamoonseer/
These make for great personalized gifts for the season, or accompanying accents for art pieces to put into your descriptions and provide more flavor and emotion. Send me a note if you're interested, and I look forward to hearing your ideas!

What do you think of the new FA update?
General | Posted 3 years agoI've seen many people talking about it offsite, but I haven't seen that much discussion of it onsite with the exception of a few larger artists that are understandably upset because of how it impacts posting comics and other strange file size images. Of course I mostly stick to my tiny corner of FA so that could be why, but I'm curious:
What are your thoughts on all of the new FA updates?
This is not a rant journal, I just genuinely want to offer some feedback and hear how others feel.
Personally, I wouldn't call it atrocious, but I'm not a big fan, even if I find it tolerable. It feels like many of the changes were to fix what wasn't broken rather than providing quality of life updates that would benefit users. I won't really go into the file size details because I think other journals have covered that better than I could, but I do want to talk user experience.
For example, there's a bunch of visual design choices that make the site less comfortable to navigate, such as the comments section and the notification page overhauls. The first makes comments blur together compared to the old since it's now all a single color rather than having those nice boxes to make comments pop, and the second is so filled with underlines everywhere that it's now harder than ever to read. Design 101 is to use underlines sparingly to make key details stand out, but at least on my notifications page, it's safe to say I now have more words that are underlined than not underlined. The banner on user pages is a neat idea, but it doesn't seem implemented well, a logical size for how it's being used (why is it so thin?!), and I can't understand why it was funded over other changes that would provide more value.
Oh, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that the FA+ buttons got bigger and more invasive. I used to think that was just a nice little way for people to give back to the site community as a donation, but it looks like there are plans to build a proper subscription service base out of that by rolling out special new features like increased icon sizes and cutting features that base users previously had access to. I'm not comfortable with that because something I've always loved about FA is that unlike most of the internet, everyone here was always treated equally in terms of how you could build your page and stand with others. There was no elite status that gave you an edge over others because you were paying money. This seems especially worth saying because even if you don't have FA+, you've already been supporting the site financially as a user since FA has ads on it. I'd rather FA start hitting us with sidebar notifications about "we need this much to meet our server goals, consider donating" than see people pressured into a subscription.
Some chatter seems to be that people think FA is trying to imitate Twitter and DA. I don't use either of those, but when I saw a side-by-side with DA, I'm inclined to agree that our user page overhaul does seem like a knockoff of DA's. There's also some sort of feeds feature coming according to the post notes, but I'm not sure what that means considering I thought we already had a feeds system with submission notifications.
I keep mentioning "better options" they could have put their time and money into, but what are some of those?
One of the first that comes to mind is an overhauled search feature that includes blacklists. Trying to use the search feature here is always a total pain, and if you want to find a particular image or artist gallery, you're usually better off going to another site like e621 to search there and then follow a link back to FA. I know there's no tagging regulation here and that makes it harder for the search to work well, but even if you type in an artist's name directly, you might still have a hard time finding them (and who knows what else you'll see along the way).
A second has to do with how icons currently have to be uploaded at an exact size, otherwise they will come out looking weird. The same is now true for the recently added banners. Why is there no feature to crop images from your gallery or that you upload into the size right there within the site interface using some sort of visual preview tool? Think of how it works in discord when you want to change your icon and how convenient that would be.
One of the most significant "better options" is to improve the interfaces when working with text anywhere here on the site since it's currently a total pain. Adding bold, links, underlines, colors, alignment, or any other basic text features requires knowing how to use html code with the exception of a few options on very limited pages like journal creation. If you're a writer, you also know that uploading a story here is genuinely a chore because depending on how you want it to display, you will likely have to manually go through your entire story onsite hitting the enter key every time there is a line break as well as tracking down any use of bold or italics so that you can add html code to them. It's very tedious, especially if you only have one monitor to work with.
While the ability to change usernames doesn't cater to me and I have some concerns about it being abused since I've seen that happen on other sites, I know this is a high priority for many people who are stuck with names they don't like but don't want to have to rebuild their following by creating a new account. They have a valid concern, and it seems strange that some means for changing your username has yet to be implemented. Supposedly this one is coming in the future, but still, seems odd that it has taken so long but we had a big ui overhaul instead when people have been asking for it longer than I've even been on this site.
I'd also love more ways to customize your profile page, such as the ability to add borders or little stickers/emotes to it. Yes, there is a workaround for some of this through linking account pages that people have created just for that purpose, but this workaround is tedious and seems like it wastes server space, so it would be nice to have better customization options build in. I guess the banner is a step in the right direction with this, but there's better options they could have done.
Anyways, that's some of my thoughts on this big change. I wouldn't really care if this was done as an opt-in feature, but since pages were forcibly changed to it I felt sharing opinions was valuable. What do you think? Feel free to share this around or make your own journals too to create more discussion.

Looking for your thoughts! Raffle ideas
General | Posted 3 years agoWe're getting pretty close to 1k watchers here and like I did at 500, I'd like to do something special to give back to all of you for your support. Last time I did a story voted on by and featuring watchers, but for this milestone I'm planning to do something art related.
The question I have for you is, what type of raffle would be most exciting for you?
Currently I have two ideas. Either:
1) The traditional raffle where one watcher wins and I will pay for a two-character scene of their character with Valia. Sfw or nsfw depending on what the winner wants.
2) One of those in-wall scenes where my rump is presented for public use and I'll raffle a bunch of slots and the winners will all get to "take a turn" with my rear by choosing some markings, writing their names/messages, leaving a toy in the picture, or whatever else they feel like to show they've been there.
Here's an example image of that idea (nsfw warning): https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/738346912800964620/1002999015207612438/EB7FE522-8859-445A-A18D-EEE45F2FF317.png?width=766&height=1041
Both ideas have their advantages. The first is more personal for the winner and allows sfw options, but the second allows for me to choose more winners and in turn give back to more of you in something of a small community event.
This celebration is all about saying thanks to all of you, so I'd like to know which of these you'd enjoy seeing more.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
General | Posted 4 years ago Wherever you're from and whatever your species, may you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
We're coming to the end of what has been a very long two years for many. As the month closes out, I hope that your season is joyful and filled with good company, and that you never forget that what makes this time of year wonderful isn’t the gift giving, but the caring spirit that each and every one of us can bring to the world. Be sure to remind your loved ones how much you appreciate them and to never take the time you have together for granted. Even if they may be frustrating sometimes, those moments are precious and once they pass us by, they are gone for good.
Stand tall as the year concludes and may 2022 be a wonderful year for you! <3 <3

Three years and 700! Thank you everyone!
General | Posted 5 years agoMewl <3
That’s right! In the coming week, I will be hitting my three-year anniversary of joining the fandom and FA! It’s honestly amazing how much time has flown and how far everything has come since I first joined. Had I been able to see the future then, I would have been shocked to see what I do now, and it’s all because of you out there reading this.
For that, I want to extend a very special thank you to every one of you!
Since making this account, I have made so many new friends ranging from people (well, mostly dragons!) I only interact with casually once in a while in comments to those that I talk to just about every day and that I couldn’t imagine not having in my life. Sometimes I think about making one of those friend lists on my page to highlight how special you are to me, but I’d probably break the entire site trying to list all of you and shout your praises.
There’s also plenty of you that are around silently sending goodwill with your favs and watches, and even if we never do speak, I want you to know that I see you. I can think of a few of you in particular that have been here watching since the very beginning when I first made this account and though we have never really interacted more than a few shouts, if that, I recognize your names and find myself smiling when I see your routine fav on a new post. Your encouragement means a ton and I’m glad that you have decided to stick with me for so long <3 <3
So with that I want to say it one more time, from the bottom of my heart, whether you have been here since the start or only joined the journey recently, I thank every one of you for your support and am happy that our paths crossed! Here’s a roar to many more years of fun in the future~
Rawr!!
P.S. Have a little surprise I’ve been saving for well over a year now for the actual anniversary that I think you will enjoy.
P.P.S. Happy early slit day ; )

The Watcher Celebration Story is up!
General | Posted 5 years agoSince the title of the story post itself doesn't make it clear, I just wanted to let everyone know that the watcher celebration story that you selected by voting is up! Hope you enjoy and thank you again to everyone who participated!

...and the winners are!
General | Posted 6 years agoFirst and foremost, thank you to everyone who participated in this celebration whether you were here from the beginning or joined late at the end. Events like this are only possible with the help of individuals like you who are willing to submit their ideas and vote for winners. Once again, I also thank each and every one of you for your support here on FA too! It means a lot to me <3
Now, without further ado, the winning story chosen by your voting is...
*dramatic pause and drum roll*
"An afternoon walk through nature is interrupted by heavy rain, forcing two characters to take shelter and leading to awkward moments and eventually an intimate night (sfw or nsfw)!" This story idea was submitted by
Quruzz and took the lead by four votes in the final days of the voting. Congratulations, Quruzz!
Given the nature of this story, I decided to choose two cameo slots. The winning numbers selected by a number generator were 8 and 11, which means that
Czero~ and
Videri are the winners! Please dm me with which characters you would like to feature so we can discuss their role in the story.
Congratulations you two!

Final voting stage + cameo raffle!
General | Posted 6 years agoThe votes are in! Since the top two options each had about 20% of the votes it's worth having a tie breaker to truly decide who will be the winner. Thank you to everyone who participated by submitting a story idea. There were plenty of amazing ideas submitted and some of the votes were very close. I wish I had the time to bring all of them to the page for you <3
Alas, I cannot and the two ideas that came out on top with 10 and 9 votes respectively were:
1) A charming male Eastern dragon in a new land attempting with great difficulty to woo a local Western dragoness (nsfw)
2) An afternoon walk through nature is interrupted by heavy rain, forcing two characters to take shelter and leading to awkward moments and eventually an intimate night (sfw or nsfw)
To decide this vote and which idea will be turned into a real story, I have one final poll for you. Once again for convenience, I've made a strawpoll for it where you can vote by following this link --> https://strawpoll.com/8z7f5px5
(pardon any line breaks again, that is an issue with the site not being built for longer responses)
While neither of these stories lend themselves to cameos as well as some of the others, it's still possible and I intend to include cameos in it because I think that will be an extra fun way to gave back to all of you. At this point I think there will be two cameo slots and I will hold a raffle to decide who gets them. If you are interested in making a cameo in the winning story, leave a comment down below saying that you are interested and I will give you a number : )

Watchers Celebration Voting Poll
General | Posted 6 years agoThe story ideas have been collected and now it's time to vote!
To make this easy for everyone, I've made a strawpoll with all of the ideas that were submitted to me. Unfortunately, the way strawpoll runs their service I couldn't set it up quite like I hoped, so I've condensed each idea that was submitted into a brief sentence overview and labeled it nsfw, sfw, or both depending on where the original submitter suggested it might go. If you want to see the original ideas for a better understanding of each story and who it will feature, check my last journal for the original submissions.
I'll keep this poll open for a week or two and then the top two will have a face off (unless there's a very clear winner). At that point, I'll also hold a raffle for cameo slots in the story, so stay tuned for that : )
Take the poll by following the link below. Please only vote for two (2) story ideas.

500 watchers celebration!
General | Posted 6 years ago Yikes! I go away for a bit to celebrate the holidays and I return to find a completely new FA waiting for me. Everything looks so different, I feel like my account has been transferred to a new site! (Anyone know that "confused screaming" meme that has the guy with the frying pan? That's how I felt when I first saw it, haha.)
Anyway though, while that chaos was unfolding something else wonderful happened. We broke the 500 watcher mark!
Thank you so much to everyone that has joined me on this journey in the fandom! I never would have thought I'd end up with this many watchers, yet somehow here we are. Some of you I have had the chance to chat with, and some I have not, but regardless I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. I am incredibly grateful for all of the support and goodwill you have all shown me
Now for the part you've all been waiting for. The celebration!
Based on feedback from when I asked how I should celebrate this landmark, I've decided that I will write a story that will be decided upon based on votes from my watchers. This won't be a "choose your own adventure" (although I may try that in the future because I love the idea), but rather you will decide on the content for the story beforehand and then I will create it.
How will I do this you ask? Well first, I'm going to do a general collection of ideas, and then from there I will take the top ideas and present them in a survey for watchers to easily weigh in on what they would like to see created. For this journal, I would like to start out by collecting some of the ideas and themes you might like to see. Since this is such a special event, I'll be looking to create a story around a 3,000-5,000 word range. For a sample on how long that is, check out this story here, which falls a bit over 4,000 words: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/28709644/
If you would like to suggest an idea or theme, please leave a comment that includes answers to the following details so that it can be easily sorted for voting.
SFW or NSFW
Species: (Can be more than one, no humans for nsfw)
Main character's gender: (If it doesn't matter skip this)
Brief description: (Keep it short and broad)
Optional -> Some tags you might include with the story:
Put any additional points you want to make at the end.
*A few notes on NSFW: It does not need to be a vanilla story and can be pretty kinky, but please nothing too extreme or violent. If you're unsure about if an idea is too extreme, feel free to ask me and I'll let you know if I'm willing to write it.
All gender/orientation pairings are welcome.*
As an extra question, I'm thinking of featuring cameos from watchers in this story as another way to give back. If this is something you would like to see, let me know!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!
General | Posted 6 years ago May you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I hope that your end of the year season is joyful and filled with good company, and that you never forget that what makes this time of year wonderful isn’t the gift giving, food, or music, but rather the spirit of caring that each and every one of us can bring to the world. Be sure to let your loved ones know how much you appreciate them. They may be frustrating some days, but in the end what matter most is the love and compassion that you share with each other through all of the troubling times.
With an luck your 2019 was a great year and may 2020 is even better for you! <3 <3

Road to 500 watchers and a question for you!
General | Posted 6 years agoWe're almost there everyone, the journey to reaching that 500 watcher milestone is on! Tell your friends and fellow critters.
Let's break that 500 barrier!
First things first, I'd like to take a quick moment to thank all of you for helping me get this far. Whether you leave comments, favs, or simply watch me while sending positive thoughts, thank you for all of your support here on FA. It means a ton <3 <3
I've been a little quiet lately, but I assure you I haven't vanished and there are more posts on the way.
Now to the question...
*insert drum roll or some dramatic music*
After I break the 500 barrier, I would like to do something to give back to my watchers. I'm not entirely sure what yet, but I figured that since it involves you, it would be nice to find out what you would hope to see for me. So here's my question: what would you like to see me do to celebrate 500 watchers? (or a more interesting number near it)
There are plenty of options we can try. I could host a raffle of some kind or we could do an "ask me anything event." I've also had this idea of writing a story where you decide what it is about by voting and then I create it. I think that would be different from what most people do and could be a lot of fun since it would involved the community more.

Thank you for a year of support!
General | Posted 6 years agoCan you believe it?
I've been here with this account for more than a year now! On the 14th of March last year, I joined the fandom under the urging of a friend who wanted me to give FA a chance. I really didn't have any expectations at the time, and I had no idea what kind of experiences were waiting for me. My only real goals at the time were to build a little collection of art and, most importantly, to try and make some new friends.
Flash forward a year and a little over a week, we're sitting here on our way to 400 watchers and I've met so many wonderful individuals! There have been good times, there have been bad times, but through it all we're still here. I've actually reached a point where it's hard to imagine not having a number of you in my life.
So with a big hearty roar, I'd like to thank all of you that have been there and supported me over the last year. Whether you're someone I talk to regularly or someone who has sat quietly sending positive thoughts my way, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for coming along with me on this journey. It truly means a lot!
As always, I greatly appreciate every watch, fav, and comment that all of you leave. I'm not sure when yet, but I'm thinking of doing some sort of event to celebrate and give back to all of you. Perhaps for 500 watchers or for some sort of favorite number milestone, we'll see when we get closer.
In the meantime, here's to another year of memories. I look forward to what the future holds and to meeting many more of you!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
General | Posted 7 years agoAs the year is winding down to a close, I just wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I hope your season is joyful and filled with good company, and that you never forget that what makes this season wonderful isn’t the gift giving, food, or music, but rather the spirit of caring that each and every one of us can bring to the world. Be sure to let your loved ones know how much you appreciate them. They may be a pain at times, but in the end it’s important to recognize how special they are and let them know they are important to you.
I also have a little challenge for all of you. Though this time of year can so often be filled with stress and frustration, try to take a minute and step back from that to show a little extra care to the people around you, whether you know them well or not. You might be surprised by how much something as small as a “good day” wish can mean to someone, even if they never show it.
With any luck your 2018 was a good one, and I hope that 2019 is even better! As always, to all of you that leave favorites, comments, or watch me here, thank you for your support and never forget that it means a ton to me <3 <3
Also a small heads-up, I will be slow to respond to messages for a while because of how busy and chaotic this season can be, though I will continue to do my best.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays~

Thank you for all your support!
General | Posted 7 years agoHi there!
With my first journal, I just wanted to take some time to put out a very special thank you to all of my watchers and to everyone that has been supporting me. This isn’t to mark some special goal like watchers or views (although I was at 121 when I wrote this and that’s a pretty cool number), or even for the two-month anniversary of my account. Instead, this is because I truly want all of you to know how wonderful you are, and that I sincerely appreciate your interest in my humble little pocket of the internet.
When I created this account, I didn’t know how it would go. I was incredibly shy about joining the fandom, and I honestly wasn’t sure if anyone would even want to talk to me. Yet, so far, everyone has been incredibly welcoming, far beyond my wildest expectations. Words really can’t describe how much that means to me. I have already been fortunate enough to meet a few individuals that I am sure will become great friends as time goes on, and I look forward to meeting others.
So…whether we talk regularly or you have simply been silently sending good thoughts my way, thank you for all of your support! Each fav and watch means a lot, and I really do treasure every shout and comment.
