General | Posted 12 years agoFinally have time to update the journal.
So the convention was a blast, got to give a few fursuiters some hugs while running around as Team Fortress 2's RED Soldier and RED Medic. Didn't get the chance to finish my Orca tail to wear so there's always next time. I didn't get the chance to meet the furs at the furry meetup seeing I was busy in the middle of a panel I really wanted to be in.
As for my commission status, I am still available, just business has been slowed down to a crawl. So while the month of October is going to be my break time from sewing a lot, I will still work on completing that Firebird mask I had started from the beginning of the year and hopefully have it completed soon to turn around and sell it off to help fund me getting supplies towards casting my own claws/jaws/and horns so I don't add to the pressure my poor supplier has to have from getting so many orders in for their products.
I also plan on making a few more costumes for myself for next year's AWA-con, another TF2 character and a character from the not so well known video game Brutal Legend. Hoping I can get to that goal and next year be a better year than what this one has been on my mental health.
Also, real quick note to anyone planning to send me a quote filled out. Please don't link me your form from a file sharing site. I feel paranoid about that kind of stuff, as it's just to easy for viruses and spyware/malware to attach intentionally and unintentionally. Best way is just copy and paste your filled out form in the PM, with links of references either from DA, photobucket or similar reputable image hosting sites, and of course here on FA. Thanks for understanding!

AWA 2013

Just a heads up, I will be at Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) all weekend so if you want to come say hello, don't be shy. I'm going costuming as either Team Fortress 2 RED Sniper (or Soldier if I can't find replacement boots for Sniper) and RED Medic (hopefully with my Orca tail made and on!)
I heard the GA Furs group is doing a meet up, so I might try to come over and say hi, hand out some business cards for my fursuiting creations, etc. I don't mind chatting with new people, I'm just a shy guy as well (and short... very short).
Ooooooooh I hope I can get everything made and done in time for this convention x-x, it's the only convention I can go to nowadays. I would go to FWA, but where they pick their hotel/location... the area scares the crap out of me, and I can't afford the amount of parking (and hate to go alone).
So unless I get lucky with a nice ride and room, FWA is not foreseeable in my future with where they pick for location and prices.
Otherwise, see you at AWA!

Have Returned

If there is one lesson learned from my trip is that never plan to come home during a weekend where all the hotels along Interstate 81 in the state of Virginia to Knoxville, Tennessee are booked full of parents of college bound kids... and friggin' NASCAR weekend.
And then you drive from just outside Hartford, CT all the way back to just outside of the west of Atlanta all in one day.
Got home around 3 AM Saturday... me and my family were all rubber legged and red-eyed from exhaustion on the drive home. It was NOT our intention to attempt this and I advise to anyone else DO TRY THIS ON TRAVEL!
Just glad to be home, rested and ready to take on any commissions/projects in time for AWA and beyond!

2 Years...
General | Posted 12 years agoTwo years ago I signed up for FA to help spread around the word I was available for fursuit commissions and showcase my work.
So far... barely any activity throughout that time, which has been kind of a let down for me, almost to th point I feel as if I should just nip it in the bud and quit any hope of turning this hobby of creation into a part time self-employed job.
But I'm not going to give up just yet.
Waiting on a possibly confirmation for a commission, as well as myself working on a few personal projects to keep myself focused and improve my skills. So, not going to throw in the towel just yet. Just hope the next year of being on FA will only grow and improve for me to be successful.
SO, my current projects are as followed:
1) Phoenix/Firebird mask I am working on that will be available for purchase upon completion
2) A couple whale tails for myself, a Orca and Beluga tail
3) Possible Dragon and Unicorn fursuit heads that will also be available for purchase upon completion
4) Any commissions I get in
These aren't in any particular order and I'll float around to try to get everything done around the same time
Here's to another year on FA, hope I managed to do a better job than I have for the last two years!

Back home, Back to work!
General | Posted 12 years agoBack home from a good week vacation to the Georgia coast on Jekyll Island. Beautiful place and the new conference center is HUGE... Dang if I had the expenses I would love to have a Fur Con there with the beach just a few yards away! Plus loads of activities to see furries play around in such as Putt-Putt golf, rent a tandem bike (looks like a bike version to the Flintstone's car, seats 2 or 4 people) and of course enjoying the beach and/or water park nearby with plenty of good places to eat, drink, and be merry!
Anyways, now that I am back, I can return to taking in commission quotes and commissions on fursuits, tails, etc.
Woo... what a long week.

Vacation with family~

Just a head's up, starting Saturday, Jun 15th, I will be out of town with family to go on vacation. Where I'm going has no internet so I won't be online until my return on the 22nd of Jun. (camping)
So any messages sent to me throughout the week will not be answered until I get back.
While I'll be away, I'm going to be working on some plush mini doves and crows to be used as keychain buddies. Normally I'm not all that into making plushies on commission, but making these birds has been a nice stress relief. I may post a picture of some of the completed ones I plan on selling off up here.

NEW ROLEPLAY FORUM

I thought I'd throw this out since it's still new and in need of life.
A friend of mine just started a roleplay forum, "Desolate Haven". It takes place in the future where humanity has almost wiped itself off the face of the earth thanks to a man-made plague and nuclear fallout. The last surviving group including a circle of scientists have seeked shelter in the middle of Australia, feverishly looking for a cure to this plague. It is then they find out that animals seem immune to the disease so using animal DNA, the scientists created a cure to any survivors. However... there is one problem...
The cure works too well, and the survivors affected start taking on animal appearances, from something small like ears and a tail, to nearly feral looking animals. So the newly formed 'Mutants' as they were called, now have their lives in debt to the scientists and still pure humans, building a walled in city called Haven...
Fast forward 200 years and the city is all that is known, the knowledge of the past a blur and the mutants' lives turned from fortunate to created no better than the animals they appear as.
But there are cracks in the 'walls' of this seemingly paradise.. and it's up to the players that venture into Haven and take on a role to find out the dark truth about this desolate oasis.

Please note there will be a 30% tacked on for rush rates. Should you decide to commission me and send in a quote either PM or e-mail and agree to the asking price, I request 30% upfront that is non-refundable to cover the costs of materials purchased.
I am also available for resin eye blanks and/or painted eyes! Currently in 3cm and 4cm only.
For normal eye commissions:
Non-Following Eyes: $8 for 3 cm, $10 for 4 cm, $15 for 3 inch

These are BASE Prices, meaning the commission for a suit based on type is the starting price. Prices VARY by commission, design, time frame, etc. A DTD (Duct Taped Dummy) will be required for full, 3/4 partial suits, and armsleeves.
Full suits: start at $1200
Partials: start at $700
3/4's: start at $850
Heads: start at $600
Tails: start at $40
Feet: start at $80 (MUST PROVIDED FOOTWEAR, something that isn't laced up)
Handpaws: $75
Armsleeves: $50
Things might be added in the future, such as different options, etc.
Pawpads, claws, certain jawsets, certain horns, etc. are supplied by
DreamVisionCreations when you commission from me with these features. Other jawsets may come from Van Dyke Taxidermy and 3cm, 4cm and 3 inch eyes are hand cast by me.

Please note there will be a 30% tacked on for rush rates. Should you decide to commission me and send in a quote either PM or e-mail and agree to the asking price, I request 30% upfront that is non-refundable to cover the costs of materials purchased.
I am also available for resin eye blanks and/or painted eyes! Currently in 3cm and 4cm only.
For normal eye commissions:
Non-Following Eyes: $8 for 3 cm, $10 for 4 cm, $15 for 3 inch
3-D Following Eyes: $18 for 3 cm, $20 for 4 cm, $25 for 3 inch
Paint job: add $12
Eye lids: $3 (only available with painted eyes)

Off to AWA 2012!!
General | Posted 13 years agoSorry there hasn't been any activity, but I haven't gotten any commissions in so it's unfortunately been dead here and I really don;t know how many more orca photos I can upload to make up for the lack of activity.
Anyways, this weekend I am off to Anime Weekend of Atlanta! I won't be in fursuit since I don't really own one of my own, but I shall be in Team Fortress 2 costumes on Friday and Saturday. Friday I'll be RED Sniper and Saturday I'll be RED Medic. If you catch me there, I'm the one wearing a Seaworld One Ocean lanyard that's semi-covered in my persona's art badges "Medic Jarvis". Don't be afraid to say hi to me! I'll be happy to have a chat!

General | Posted 14 years agoSo, been thinking on these for a while and so I'm going to ask out.
What's a good place on here or anywhere that I'm open for fursuit commissions? Have yet to get anyone new and it worries me that reason being is other suit makers have the ability to attend a slew of conventions and I'm just stuck with the ones close to home. Is there any place on the web I can post a price image (much like how drawing artists do) on a group that gets better traffic than I do? Keep in mind I don't have any other job than this at the moment as hiring for real jobs in my area has gone down the hole and only accepting management positions or job openings at the hospital.
Also, soon as the Black and Red Wolf partial is completed, I plan on doing a voting on some dragon head designs to make out of leftover fur to keep from sitting around forever. I'll pick the top two choice, then with a $50 budget on small things such as horns, tongues, jawsets, etc. from Monoyasha's webstore, I'll construct the heads one by one and put them up for auction to help me get to a few other fur cons as well as another trip to Seaworld Orlando because I'm a Orca and must see my people again, especially the new baby boy Maikao.

General | Posted 14 years agoWinter is fast approaching and I'm open for commissions on fursuits again.
However, I am eager to work on Dinosaur suits seeing they are far and few between. If you are interested in a Dino suit (and please note they will be made realistically as much as possible) or know someone who's been wanting a Dino suit, I'd love to work with them.
Hoping to creating any of the following:
- Spinosaurus
- Allosaurus
- Archeopteryx
- Any Pterosaurs
- Baryonyx
- Dilphosaurus (aka the frilled spitting dinosaur from Jurassic Park, your choice of JP style or no frill *there's no fossil evidence they had frills or the ability to spit poison as far as the record goes* )
- Any other suggestions on dinosaurs (not ready for quadsuits yet but if you want one and willing to take the risk on a first timer, I'll knock off 10% off the final price )
I'm also willing to take on Ice Age critters (Terror Bird would be awesome!), So just send me a message for a quote and I'll see what I can come up with. If you have a reference sheet and what all you need will ensure a closer final pricing than a ballpark estimate.

Yep, Ven is turning 24 on the 19th this month. So send me some birthday wishes, gift-art or if you play TF2 with steam... I'm always open to hats/weapons birthday gifts (still hoping for a Team captain hat to make my Medic badass)
Going to go to an Outback Steakhouse for my birthday dinner Wednesday night.... dressed up as Sniper cuz I can! Hilarity ensues (yes there will be pictures and video hopefully... wish I could invite friends from AWA TF2 meet-ups to join in in costume, that would be bauss. )
Gonna be back to taking commissions officially after my birthday.
