RIP Dragoneer/Furaffinity
Posted a year agoI've been thinking all day on what to say or should I say anything.. what has not already been said?
Thank you so very much Dragoneer, you put your heart and soul into building a pillar of the fandom with many others. You will be missed and your work will not be forgotten.
I had my first account on FA in 2005, this current one here was made in 2006 and I've stuck around through the drama that came and went. Furaffinity has become a constant in my life over the past nearly 20 years, through many life hardships and changes. FA has always been there for me, whether it was meeting new great people, or just art and stories that might cheer me up during those hard times. Many furry sites have come and gone, and others still around but do not have the population and support as FA.
Like it or not, FA is a pillar of the furry community, and I am thankful that Dragoneer held that line and ensured this community always had a home. I never had the opportunity to get to know Dragoneer on a personal level, though throughout my time here I had chatted and interacted with him on many occasions, and that willingness was always appreciated. I know there is a lot of worry over the fate of FA, I worry too. Dragoneer put so much of himself and resources into FA through countless rough patches, along with many others that made this all happen and thrive.
I know this might seem a bit cringe, but I would highly suggest that if you can comfortably afford the FA+ subscription, consider doing so. Finances have always been a struggle with the ever growing user base, increased attacks, and development to keep this place a home for all of us.

Posted 13 years agoAnyone else having issues joining livestreams these days and even more so as time goes on?
It doesn't seem to matter which provider someone is using I seem to have to try and try several dozen times before I actually connect..... I feel it might just be time for a new router since that's the only thing that has been out of wack for awhile. D:

Glider Plane -- Was damn fun!
Posted 13 years agoWent up in a Glider Plane today, was damn fun. I've flown an ultralight years ago, one of the weight displacement ones with the hang glider above... The rudders on the glider add a whole new level of difficulties in flying. I was ecstatic when he let me take over once we got up to 4000ft.
Had a blast, going to be joining the Glider Club, they have their own private club airfield and it's practically free for them to get you licensed, just pay the $20 launch fees and the initial $120 to join the club. Ffff- I love flying so much, now to balance getting my sky diving license and glider license.

Posted 13 years agoHoly... FUCK... is all I can say.
It was the most fun I've had in my life and I am absolutely addicted.
I was surprisingly not scared but only a bit nervous. My plane got switched from the single prop side door aircraft to the dual prop rear hatch large plane they had... was interesting hopping out backwards.
First ride up I couldn't jump since my automatic emergency deploy device turned itself off, so after a fun ride back down of the pilots going crazy for weightlessness I was cleared to remain on and go back up once they reset the device.
The walk to the rear of the plane open was damn exciting, as a couple other AFF first timers went and it looked as if they were just sucked out of the back.. LOL
They passed me on my A jump and cleared to do B for my next jump, my exit was excellent, stability was right on after a quick leg adjustment, safety checks done accurately and within the designated heights. I had a perfect chute pull right at the 5500ft designation for new solo jumpers.
Things went slightly wrong here, a random gust of wind came out of no where and blew me off course a bit so instead of landing on the airport I landed between the road and river that are against the airport fence very safely as well. The landing was very soft and on my feet, though since the grass was wet when the chute went over me the little tug pulled me on my butt.
Overall... I"M IN LOVE WITH SKY DIVING NOW.

My university has a sky diving club and they offer a 6 hour class over two days that usually costs a lot, for free.
I thought the classes were next month but noticed earlier on FB today it started tonight and over tomorrow as well and the diving is this Saturday. Slightly impromptu but fuck just because I had the dates mixed up I will NOT pass this up.

I know quite a few of my friends been wanting to chat more and I kind of just dropped off the face of the earth, well AiM that is. It's nothing any of you did, I just have some things going on right now that has flung me into one of them funks or mini-mid life crisis or whatever.

Ferrets - Devil spawn
Posted 14 years agoBlah, our bringer of chaos ferret... being so good and cute so I'd give a treat, but the reality of it was she had a plan. An evil one that that.
A: Act super cute, dooking around with an overstimulated mindset and super fluffed tail.
B: Once the human is well entertained, he would sure enough give me a treat!
C: I'll be super calm when the human brings out the treat, I'll act so distracted by the treat nothing in the world would catch my attention.
D: Once he feels comfortable enough I'm well enough distracted and he leaves the room for at least 10 seconds.. I'll execute my true plan.
E: *random loud dooks to taunt the human I'm definitely up to an evil plan*
F: Make a break for his cup full of water, dive into the top while pulling it all over the couch.
G: Run off even more puffy tailed than before when he comes running in, rapid machine gun dooking and dart under the couch cause I have to at least act cute so he doesn't get all angry.
H: SUCCESS!
BEWARE A FERRETS CUTENESS. Behind all the war dancing, dooking and uber excited fluffy tail exterior... there is a true mastermind of evil deeds within.

They have this damn camera so tightly made that removing the circuit board is nearly impossibly. I sooo broke a a solder point for one of the battery terminal tabs..
SOLUTION: Break the other so all I have to do is pull the board up to slide out the capacitor and resolder the battery tabs back on. YAY FOR BEING A NERD WHO BREAKS SHIT. LOL

Posted 14 years agoSo yeah at about 8:30am this morning our apartment was broke into. The guy broke in from the home owners floor on the first level by cutting out a screen, rummaged their stuff, came up the main stairway and into our apartment (it's just a large town house sectioned off), stole 
floppybelly laptop, 
Crimson-Wolf Ipod and check book.
They went back out and broke down another door luckily which is what woke us all up. I lucked out and most of my important stuff were in my room with me.
Blah.. What is even crazier this is the safest neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio and it was in broad daylight when tons of people are jogging and walking down this richie neighborhood.

Portal 2 experience - No Spoilers
Posted 14 years agoWell I finished Portal 2's single player mode yesterday in just under five hours, I was expecting a couple more than that out of the SP mode since most have said it took about seven to eight hours but all in all the game was absolutely a blast. Now I just need to find the time to try the Co-Op mode, I've heard the story is different and it's way longer than the SP, can't wait!
The detail they went into showing how large the facility is was communicated extremely well and the features they added with what happens instead of dying in some situations and extra items used to solve the puzzles was a fantastic edition.
If you liked the first you'll absolutely love Portal 2, the humor always kept a smile on my face and even if I got frustrated with a puzzle the commentary would always wipe that frustration clean.
ps: Be sure to listen to the commentary instead of rushing through it, waiting around can get some funny commentary from the NPC during certain times.

Posted 14 years agoSo I was driving around last night at like midnight with :icon rrru: and his friend Tyler and Matt.
Soo yeah, just a road trip to walmart for some munchies and we're cracking jokes about the
Rapture.
Off in the distance we seen this huge rip looking pattern in the sky that was glowing.
As we got closer we noticed that.. "Holy shit, that's right along the tree tops and it's glowing." After about 10 seconds of going silent we smelled the smoke and stopped holding our breaths.. HAHA, funny stuff.
It seriously looked crazy as hell, there was a large fire that made this huge cloud that was lit up by the flames. x3

After continuously stealing mine away within seconds of me turning my head and grabbing other stuff while I work on 3D modeling.. Poof she drags it behind the couch pillow. Once she got a hold of the rubber bit along the outside she got so obsessed just reaching for her to get the mouse away would end in a chain of loud screams and squeaks.
.. She's really obsessed with anything soft/silicon like materials to the point where she'll just hiss nonstop even when we let her have something like the material and leave her be...

Oh.. and she's always trying to dig at my crack.. no one elses.. D: D: D:

Ffffffffff- High Def IR webcam
Posted 15 years agoLMAO, late night boredom project.. Take apart a new HP Deluxe Web cam with the goal of removing the IR filter lens.
My god was this fucking difficult to do, it ended up being an extremely thin lens that took hours of micro cracking under a x4 project lens and very careful movements.
Totally managed to remove it without damaging any of the other internal lenses behind it. Now I just need to fine a really nice light filter film to plop in there and I have a high definition IR webcam to play around with. =^.^=
***Note: Find a better place to store them tiny screws, lost the two that hold the circuit board in place but front cover snap fits back on and does the job well on its own.***

Fursuit Project - Begin
Posted 15 years agoWell, I've been tossing around the idea of building a fursuit for well over a couple years and its damn time I stop being lazy.
As of yesterday I finally began planning for a suit, in this case will be a partial consisting of head, paws, arm extensions, foot paws and tail.
Now, here is the kicker and what really gets my inner geek spinning-- Going to be designing the head with animatronics built in. Yes, robotic ears and facial expressions. I'm not sure if I'll do blinking eye lids as of yet and I believe I'll leave the jaw as a simple elastic style movement.
I already have the circuitry drawn out and will be ordering the PIC controller and other various components in the follow days.
QUESTION though
1. Should I make artificial eyes for the head or should I do a flush fit to my own eye sockets? I plan on going as realistic as I possibly can considering I've never dived into anything fursuit wise.
2. Anyone have suggestions on where to purchase some mid-high to high quality faux furs?
I'll be hand painting on my own markings so I need to find some decent bengal tiger base color orange.
