Early AC'13 Preparation
General | Posted 13 years agoThis year's rooming plans prior to AC was a wreck and I refuse for it to happen again. So I've already made the pre-emptive strike to make sure the same nonsense doesn't recur. I've been taking time to converse at random with those that I had Roomed with and would-have roomed with this year, and it seems that it may become absolute. If my planning and head-count remains guaranteed, I'll be seeking a Suite next year instead of a regular room. Granted the cost might be a little more due to that change, but space would be more guaranteed for those that are willing to claim it. Of course, the headcount will be what will diminish the cost for everyone, so more heads would gradually diminish the cost for all.
I'll also add that I will be a bit more strict on whom I allow to be in the room, since I don't want to have any form of discomfort or bail-outs that will effect everyone's funds. Unexpected issues is one thing, but not if it's something that could and should have been taken more seriously prior. The purpose of going to the con is for fun and relaxation, and I want that for all that I room with.

AC Conclusion
General | Posted 13 years agoAs per usual, another good convention despite the annoying calamities that kept coming my way throughout the falsely "very-merry-month-of-May". I can start by giving thanks to those that were my roommates
A long term Leonine friend that I gave the chance to finally go to AC by providing him a space to stay and a bed all to himself.
A rather interesting and energetic Roommate that seemed to be gifted with constant coincidences that made him coin the phrase for the weekend "Best Con Ever~!" since after he first stepped through the door everything has been falling into his path to make his last AC no where near as good as this one. Turns out that he was a long-term friend of Umuntu that he was hoping to get to spend some time with that was going to be in another room, or so he thought until he found himself sharing a room with him.
many would best recognize him as the creator of the Peter is the Wolf. Very prompt about getting to his table in the Dealer's Den and always the first to turn-in that took claim to the second bed.
was the final addition to the room and the 2nd Fursuiter.
One of my pleasures has been finding out what some friends and Artists that I watch on FA have a hankering for and seeing if I can surprise them with it.
was the first I caught a glimpse of after I got out in front of the hotel and got behind her without being noticed and handed her a freshly bought and still cold Monster Assault from above, followed up with 2 Irish Cremes.
made a bit of a joke in a post-AC journal and found that I was surprisingly serious about snagging some Jolly R's for her. As a trade, she was kind enough to let me have a con Themed badge that was equal to the amount of 9 different kinds of Jolly R's (Boxes and Bags) I was giving her. Seeing how gleeful she was over the bag I handed her was as gratifying as the badge given.
I didn't get to give the Zebra Cakes that I had managed to obtain last year since my trip to AC last year almost didn't happen and forgot to have a way to conveniently meet up...that and all the ZC's unintentionally got crushed. I made sure things were much easier to handle this year and this time made certain that she got a full box of them untouched in the Zoo.
really was such a sweetie the day I met her, which was also the morning I met her in-suit (Friday). Seriously, I couldn't help myself to staring at her quite a bit in-costume, it's just that kind of brilliant. The character is way past cute and her fur pattern just draws attention like an electric magnet. I found she had a hankering for flavored Marshmallows and delivered. Happiness came and displayed as she quickly shoved her water bottle & bag to a fellow fursuiter friend as immediate hugs were made, in which she teased by saying "Not done yet" when I began to loosen my arms. Hey, I was more than willing to make that hug last for a bit since the suit was as soft as my Sobakawa pillow.
I ran into her the next morning on my way to the Zoo and was invited to go with her group to Hanlon's Cafe (The Steel City Diner's formal grounds). The 5 of us had random chats about a multitude of interesting subjects.
I saved from starvation last year with Double Stuffed Oreos. This year, I got him a resealable pack of Triple Double-Stuffed Oreos. And I was rightfully rewarded, because he was fortunately with the cookie giver of the con
and got my Chocolate Chip goodness from him.
had posted a journal earlier this year talking about her love for Dragonheart and that she wanted the DVD. I did her a better justice by getting her both movies in the 2-in-1 pack as a late B.Day gift. I was fortunate in finding that my store had 2 copies left and just happened to be up on sale. Got her added to my F-List on my 3DS
I gave a bag of my fave Chocolate Candy: Twix
had a taste for 2 types and I had unfortunately killed one of them a few weeks earlier, so I went for the next in line and presented her with a Resealable pouch of Rasinets. This kind of snowballed into me finding out that :ebonyleopard: was using his Pokedex 3D for visual references as he was drawing an Espeon, so I offered to max it out the best I could. Did so and returned it to him, and then he was nice enough to let me have one of the original Extinctioners comics as I guess a form of thanks.
For other 3DS Pokemon players, a new Pokedex 3D Pro & Dream Radar will be released in Fall on Nintendo eShop for Pokemon Black/White 2
I dominantly spent the first part of the con getting commishes for
since he could not come this year, and I succeeded in getting him everything he wanted to get. In between and during the convention, I met with a lot of others and ventured around with a few groups,
's group the most. I bought a few things, though mostly spend it getting food though. I still missed some events either due to time clash or being a part of a group activity that drew me away.
Furnandos
I went in to get my fill of Lasagna wrap with my friend
and was struck with by far the worst part of the con: The Donut Stand was gone! I asked one of the workers that took my order what happened and was told about the reason behind it's baffling disappearance, in which I was then informed that a new cookie was under development: A Chocolate Chip Bacon cookie. I was given the chance to try one and give my opinion on it. So I stood at the Register eating the new concoction slowly to savor the flavor so I could give a rightful constructive critique.
I was soon asked if I was in-line and noticed that there was no line at all before saying that I was ready to give my opinion on the new cookie. Next thing I know one of the workers shout to the back and Fernando come sup front and pretty much the entire staff was there to listen to my words. It was really wicked cool. It was really good, and I gave my opinion on what might be tested to even out the flavor so the salty Bacon flavor could better accent the Chocolate Chip without being snuffed by it. It was a really nice conversation and quite nice to have actually been the first to eat the new creation.
Mascots
Fursuits are naturally a highlight to me at Anthrocon, because they constantly get better and cooler with each passing year.
Still have to say, Rio is one of my top faves for this year. Her costume was made to be form-fitting , so there were no loose ends or excessive amounts of anything in certain areas.
One of the unexpected being the very impressive Dr. Viper carrying a green liquid-filled Flask from S.W.A.T. Katz The Radical Squadron, whom was being chased around the Zoo Friday night by T-Bone & Razor with their Glov-o-trix.
The next up would have to be the rather impressive Mewtwo & Dark Mewtwo costumes.
Also during the Fursuit parade did the appearance of the GOH's creation make his debut: Sly Cooper. It was a very well made costume, Cooper Cane and all. What really stands out the most is that he looked REALLY animated. In a snapshot I took, he looked like he was a cartoon character walking behind a fursuiter.
One that was just a plain pleasure and totally unexpected was the presence of Summer Wars' Virtual reality Rabbit Fighter: King Kazma. Like with Sly Cooper, I had to make him a Face Raider on my 3DS. People kept coming up and calling out for KK to strike a pose for them and he happily obliged. I'm glad that there were many that were familiar with this cool character.
Groupings
My first of groupings was of course with those that I was rooming with, though Bar-1 was the only exception since he was devoted to his time as a Dealer, which is very understandable. Most of our groupings were idle chats before even leaving the room and then random encounters throughout the con.
,
&
was another group I tagged along with at random. Went to a restaurant called Sharp Edge Bistro and we all got to eat in what I would call the Executive Booth since it was on the upper floor that had it's own personal bar and HDTV. Want to go there again for their Belgian Waffles.
I also got to spend time with my White Rat friend
that I haven't seen for a few years at a different con. He along with his cute lady
& Kooshball
hung around the Zoo.
Events
I managed to go to quite a few Panels & Events this time around:
3DSFurs: Lots of 3DS users and helped others max out their Pokedex 3D
Sardyoun's performance
Bitter Lake Screening
Bucktown Tiger Concert
Matthew Ebel Concert
Masquerade
MLP: FiM Meet & Greet: It was really good. Rarity & Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3 stopped by, and I both Derpy Hooves & Doctor Whooves hit the Rave.
I always try to check out the Rave since it's a great time to see Fursuits you more than likely won't see any other time of the con (Still don't get the reason behind that), friends that I know of tend to want to go, and I enjoy some of the selections. Saturday night's rave was by far the best one I've been to at any AC since last year's Saturday Rave.
I did unfortunately miss a few due to timing and errands I was doing, but I did enjoy the ones that I did manage to catch.

My Paternal 1st Aunt passed away
General | Posted 13 years agoI was just informed after getting home from work. The only source of information that I have been told is that my 2nd Paternal Aunt (Her sister) found her in the tub. The more ponderful thought is that it is unknown how long she's been there.
I'm going to T-Mode & Videogames Live next month!
General | Posted 14 years ago(http://t-mode.org)
I decided to take a shot at T-Mode this year since I know were it is thanks to Intervention last year and it's local. It's an Anime & videogaming Con.
Videogame Live (http://videogamelive.com) is a videogame concert event in which games music of modern and retro are played by an Orchestra in-sync with video, light shows & live-action. Even have audience interactivity from what I understand. I read recently that before the performance this year that they intend to have a Costume contest and a Guitar Hero competition, and the winners will be brought out on stage during the show.
I've been wanting to go for a while, but I didn't know it was within my proximity.

Early AC Preparation: Candyman Verm
General | Posted 14 years agoLast year I took the liberty of taking advantage of all the sales at my job and bought snacks specifically for those that were actually going to be at the con and extras that just seemed rather interesting and might catch attention (AKA: Big Fat Hissy Fit 3Ft. Gummy Snake). I figured that I'd start collecting now so I can make certain everything I get is fresh and has a longevity of at least 3 months or more after June.
So those of you going, have at it and name your preferred Snack/Candy of choice.

Change of Heart
General | Posted 14 years agoThis year has been the biggest bastard than any I've dealt with thus far, mostly in my real life and only partly online. I've had my benevolence, obedient nature, and presence taken advantage of far too many times to my misfortune to the point of being easily compared to Brain Cancer: getting progressively worse to the point of death. I've chosen to eliminate the problem, by lessening my weakness: Reasoning.
Once next year starts, this will be one of my dominant Resolutions. All forms of competent/incompetent Reasoning will be treated accordingly, and without hesitance...regardless if it is Friend or Family.

Christmas Cards
General | Posted 14 years agoSince they had put up the display a bit ago, I got myself Christmas cards early and will be sending them off as soon as I get more stamps.
If there's anyone that has had an address change since last December that I normally send a card to, please let me know. If there's anyone that's watching me that would like to get a card, please send me a note. I have a limited supply, so those that are in my archive shall be have first priority.

Saw Real Steel 2 weeks early, and it rocks!
General | Posted 14 years agoThe waiting period for watching the film was much longer than the last 2 films I saw for free, but that's why it's smart to have entertainment in the form of friends, a book or videogames.
Everyone in the crowd was a blast. They all got riled up at different scenes that were worthy of such praise & erupted into multiple ovations and cheers throughout the film. It's true that the projector did go black twice and had a few issues, but it didn't kill the experience.

General | Posted 14 years agoOr will be at 11:48am, and unlike others I'm not whining about getting older. I got a cool T-Shrit with lots of animals on it (The Mountain brand) as my spoil. I'm only hoping that the annoyances I deal with today will not be massive.
Thundercats: Brief Mon Star Cameo
General | Posted 14 years agoYes, I watch the new Thundercats series every Friday and I do enjoy the way they chose to do it. During a part of it, I noticed that they had cleverly included a brief image of Gangster Mon Star from Silverhawks.
Rude Awakening: No MFM
General | Posted 14 years agoJust recently found out that my ride to MFM is incapable of going due to a monetary misfortune. So I shall remain at home and hope this week doesn't get any worse than it started out up to now.
Verm's 14 year, 3DS Ambassadors & MFM '11
General | Posted 14 years agoVerm becomes 14 on Wednesday.
Fellow 3DS Ambassadors, our free 10 NES Virtual Console titles become available Thursday.
I still consider MFM my early B.Day gift to myself and better to celebrate then than on the actual day. With that said, are there anyone going or having rooming issues?

Just had a Tremor
General | Posted 14 years agoIt was very brief, but a Tremor rattled the building I live in. Never was familiar with that phenomena happening in MD, but apparently that settles that notion.
Comp Issues & 3DS Ambassadors
General | Posted 14 years agoFor some reason, my comp won't let me use my keyboard at all. I'm currently using my 3DS to make this journal until I can find a way to fix this.
Anyone that owns a 3DS and logs on to Nintendo eShop before 8:59pm next Thursday and you'll be able to DL 20 games for free. I'm not entirely certain, but I think you must at least have made 1 purchase from them.

I can't go to Anthrocon this year.
General | Posted 14 years agoOr at least not the way I would prefer. It turns out that someone has already asked for leave at my job for the same weekend (How ironic). I went over all my options in regard of my situation and found that I only have 2 options: Convince the other worker to let me have that week and they have the following, or I take a Bus. I took the time to establish the bus schedule that would work in me favor, but it would mean that Instead of being there from Thursday morning to Monday morning, I'll have to settle with Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.
I'm really hoping that I can make him reconsider so I don't have to sacrifice my convention time to a company that doesn't pay me enough for the crap I am forced to deal with daily.
