Jumping into the furry VR world, looking for suggestions
Posted a year agoHey folks!
I've got a kickass new gaming PC and a brand new headset, and I'm looking to spend some of my abundant spare time checking out what the furry world has to offer.
What kind of wild words are there in VRChat which relate to furry and vore interests? I've got some friends who can show me the ropes but I'm always looking for some new suggestions for some fun.
Also, where should I look if I'm looking for an avatar of a muscular fox? I've got something selected for now, but its features are limited.

Giving Furry Twitter a shot
Posted 2 years agoHey all,
Felt like I was missing out of a few things such as fun banter between furry friends on social media so I created a Twitter account for my muscular fox:
https://twitter.com/VincerRenard
Feel free to give me a follow, it's been fun seeing what my favourite artists I've followed here are up to!

Telegram Group Recommendations
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone!
I know I haven't written a journal in a long time, but I'm wondering if some furs can recommend me some Telegram groups that would be relevant to my interests.
I'm already in a vore one, but I think perhaps one related to male furs/yiff, as well as one that's for muscled male furs would be ideal.
I'm also not interested in groups where shit like racism/alt right bullshit is allowed, and I'd prefer if the furry drama is at a minimum.
Feel free to comment with some recommendations! :)

Some commissions coming this way!
Posted 10 years agoHey all!
I know I haven't super active with my FA lately but I'm just letting everyone know that
chironshands and I will have some new commission that we ordered from a very talented artist coming up pretty soon.
Overall, I've been doing quite well in life. I've been exercising a lot in the last year or two to the point that I've built up some sweet muscles on my arms. Vincer will be showcasing these in the drawings that we'll have of him :)

MSN merging to Skype
Posted 12 years agoSo it looks like Microsoft is giving the boot to Windows Live Messenger in March, having it merge with Skype. Does anyone know if we need to create a Skype account or if everything will shift automatically? Will our MSN logins and passwords simply work on Skype?
I would prefer not losing all my contacts and all. Feel free to reply if you have a good idea of what's happening.

Upbeat songs that sound cheerful but have dark lyrics
Posted 13 years agoHey, everyone.
I was thinking about some songs that I enjoy listening to that have a lot of contrast between their musical content and their lyrical content. I really like the irony with them and it also makes the song more interesting or memorable.
What are some of your favourite examples? I'll list some of mine:
Detroit Rock City - Kiss
About someone who gets ready to go to a Kiss concert but dies in a car crash on the way there.
Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind
I used to love that song as a kid and its chorus (doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo) sure was catchy. However, it's about someone who gets hooked to crystal meth and has a downward spiral.
Today - Smashing Pumpkins
Today is the greatest day of his life, because it's also going to be his last. A little more mellow then the other two I named but it's about suicide.
Any other examples you guys can think of?

Video games as an art form
Posted 14 years agoHey hey, everyone!
Something I really enjoy these days is seeing how the stories, character development and acting in video games are really becoming better than they used to be. I also really enjoy when some decide to explore something that hasn't been done before in this kind of new media.
For example, in the puzzle game Braid, the way the worlds are drawn is really gorgeous and the cello soundtrack is just amazing. For a polar opposite that I also really enjoyed, there's the puzzle game LIMBO which is dark, creepy and very unsettling.
The games that Rock Star Games has been coming out with in the recent years are also examples of video games that I would definitely classify as art. Red Dead Redemption has a lead character that I really did care about and the characters he interacted with really made his story and the game really fascinating. The landscapes with the music in that western video game as you're galloping on your horse were awesome too.
A recent one I've really enjoyed is L.A. Noire. I really enjoy it since the characters that are meant to be "good guys" definitely have their flaws, creating a story that's not entirely black and white with heroes and villains. It's also really interesting to see how it touches on issues like the emotional damage that WWII veterans suffered, when it's something that was very neglected through history seeing how big of a victory that war was for the U.S.
Anyways, what are some video games that you guys have enjoyed and would classify as being art?

Quite possibly the most amazing YouTube video I've ever seen
Posted 14 years agoEDIT: ****APRIL FOOLS!**** ^_^

It's just over a minute long but it's truly an eye opener. Something I showed to all my friends who were all equally amazed.

What are your favourite opening sequences in movies?
Posted 15 years agoI find that a great opening scene can really set the mood for what's ahead in a movie but these ones I find the most memorable :
Zombieland
You've got a fantastic heavy metal song playing (For Whom The Bell Tolls) as these extremely well-filmed slow motion shots of zombie apocalyptic chaos keep on rolling. The dark humor (businessman running away from a zombie stripper) and the Scarface reference (man in the tuxedo shooting the machine gun) definitely made me smile.
A Clockwork Orange
Alex DeLarge's creepy stare into the camera along with the brilliant 1970s synthesizer score are great at setting off the atmosphere. Seeing the characters dressed up the way they are with the nude mannequins really add to the bizarre feel as well.
Se7en
Seeing the credits roll as the montage of a killer's journal is creepy enough by itself. The grainy film, strange handwriting and unsettling image really went well together.
I'll probably name a few more later on but I'm wondering what some of my furry friends' opinions are on this. Don't be shy to comment! : )
EDIT
The Thing
This opening immediately makes you wonder what the hell, or why the hell this is going on. Watching a helicopter chasing a dog in Antarctica with a passenger frantically trying to shoot it with a machine gun completely sucks you into the action and the plot. Ennio Morricone gave a fantastic horror film score with the bass guitar used prominently.

What's the best to listen to while driving?
Posted 15 years agoHey furs!
I don't actually have a CD player in my car nor an mp3 jack, I still listen to the radio, making the next song that's going to play much more unpredictable. Therefore, it makes hearing a great track to drive along to that much more satisfying. Here's a short list of what I love to hear when I'm behind the wheel :
The Spirit of Radio - Rush
Runnin' Down A Dream - Tom Petty
Time - Pink Floyd
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Buddy Holly - Weezer
The Unforgiven - Metallica
Keep On Rocking in the Free World - Neil Young
What are your picks or any comments on the ones I like?

Favourite music videos
Posted 15 years agoHey everyone.
I was recently blown away by two different music videos in the last two days and I thought I'd like to share. The first one is This Too Shall Pass by OK GO (a.k.a. the guys from that treadmill dance video). It's a four minute long Rube Goldberg machine that's all done in a single take, using extremely creative ideas. It's already gathered over two million hits in two days that it's been on Youtube. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w
The second one is by a band that I've never heard of actually. During the music video, many different famous paintings are re-enacted with great attention to detail. It's 70 Million by Hold Your Horses! Here's the video : http://www.vimeo.com/9752986 My favourite recreation was Liberty Leading the People (http://www.vimeo.com/9752986) and Las Meninas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Meninas).
Although those two that I just named would rank up in my 10 all-time favourites, my top pick is still Take On Me by A-ha. It's got truly great visuals and awesome style to it.

Che Guevara was not a hero, do some research!
Posted 16 years agoEvery time I see someone sporting a Che T-shirt or hat or whatever, I'll automatically give out a big eyeroll. It really annoys me seeing how ignorant some people will think he's cool just because they see him everywhere and that he had a pretty face without knowing more about him than that.
Some will think that he was a fair man who cared for everyone by the way he was portrayed in the South American film The Motorcycle Diaries a few years back but in the later part of his life in reality, he was everything but.
Many musicians sport T-shirts of the man, but Che was very hostile to artists and musicians in Cuba, only allowing select government approved records.
During the Cuban Revolution, he was known as The Butcher of La Cabaña (a prison where he executed scores by firing squad without giving them a right to a trial). He was Fidel Castro's primary executioner. Countless men, women and children were victims to executions that his regime was responsible for carrying out. Every photograph in this photo montage of Che's face was a victim of him and his brutal regime : http://www.therealcuba.com/YAFChePoster.jpg
Oh, and when Che was executed, he was wearing a Rolex. Hypocrisy, anyone?
I don't see anyone wearing a Charles Manson or a Mussolini T-shirt so just ditch the Che Guevara gear please.

Drag Me To Hell : movie review
Posted 16 years agoSam Raimi hasn't touched the horror genre in two decades and comes back better than ever. Drag Me To Hell contains plenty of genuine scares (coming from an experienced horror movie fan!) and is just downright hilarious in some other scenes.
With a plot that is purposefully silly, the viewer is told to not try and take it too seriously, a perfect setting for a campy horror flick. Without featuring any major names on the acting credits, they manage to make very entertaining and believable performances. Alison Lohman makes a great scream queen by playing loan officer Christine Brown and Justin Long adds great humor and awkwardness to some scenes without going over-the-top with his portrayal of her boyfriend.
When I saw that it would be rated PG-13, I just felt disappointed, knowing how the gore from the Evil Dead films added such fun to them. However, there are many parts that made me look at the screen in disgust and it doesn't feel toned down at all. This has to be the most intense PG-13 film I've ever seen and it delivers much more thrills than the large majority of R-rated horror films.
The technical aspects really excel throughout the film. The originality of the editing is spectacular and very effective in the suspenseful scenes and the sound effects to create tension work perfectly. It's so refreshing to see a Sam Raimi horror flick with state of the art special effects.
In the entire hour and forty minutes, my heart pounded and I also laughed my ass off. Recommended for anyone who wants to have fun and not take a movie too seriously.
9/10
Any thoughts or comments? I'd be glad to discuss this...or other movies (I've seen a whole lot, trust me!) ; )

Wow, my laptop battery suddenly works fine.
Posted 17 years agoI just didn't use it for about a week because the battery life was literally 5 minutes. I charged it up and killed it off a couple times and it seems to be functioning alright.
Well, that saves me about $120! : )
I'm still crossing my fingers waiting to find out if I actually *did* get a red-light camera ticket. I'm still unsure if I did get one or not and it should arrive soon if it does...
Oh, if you guys have the chance to try this, make sure you do. It's got a pretty interesting taste : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitaya (a.k.a. dragon fruit).
