Forecast - Sunny with a chance of Spamphotos
General | Posted 10 years agoHey! I wanted to give you guys the heads up that soon I'm going to spam a bunch of work-in-progress photos.
I've been pretty bad about getting things posted on here, and for that I'm sorry. I keep waiting for peak traffic times, but a) I wake up right around then and b) I think about it in the dead of night. I sort of wish FA had a scheduler next to in their file submission, then I could continue being so lazy... >.>

Status Update - Projects & Life
General | Posted 10 years agoDamn. It's been two weeks since I posted anything, so I just wanted to confirm I am Not Dead.
Here's what's happening with my projects: I'm working very hard on some requests. I bit off a little more than I can chew, but I'm learning a whole damn lot in the process. (I understand now why some of my favorite yarns (Fun Fur/eyelash) is considered unpopular...)
I've been watching a whole bunch of video game streamers, and it's been inspiring potential projects. In the brain pan currently are thoughts of a custom Vault Boy doll (Fallout), Samus in armor (Metroid), and the Prince from Katamari Dama-...Daman-... Whatever, the Space Trash game.
I also took a little break and quickly knit a side project - a headband cozy for my headphone set. I love my headphones, but the rubber headband chaffed a little and I'm paranoid about my thin hair...
This coming Monday (Aug 10th), I will also be taking some time to learn about how to price crafts! I have always been open for commissions, but as my projects get larger and more demanding, I feel it's more important than ever to establish a fair pricing scheme.
Here's what's been happening with me (should you care to know): I had a birthday (Aug 3rd)! I got turned down for a job I was super pumped for, which was the first time that's happened to me - learned how much that can suck. This also means I'm still job hunting. I did a whole freakin' ton of delicious cooking, trying out a bunch of new recipes. My family (including the cat and dog) came down from Canada to visit for a whole month! I love hanging out with my mom, and I'm pretty stoked to see my brother. I got Rocket League, which is Awesome! I've also been playing a lot of Age of Mythology and Guild Wars 2 with my sweetheart. If you're on Steam, feel free to friend "Lil Violet Vixen".
TL;DR - Did you know that, when I'm not working on personal projects, I do commissions? Also, you can keep up-to-date with my projects and everyday shiz by following me on Twitter LilVioletVixen !

After seeing a friend struggle with Facebook algorithms, I decided it was time for a change in social media. I hope to use it to share progress on my projects, as well as what I have going on the in background.
What can I say, I'm an extrovert who wants to share myself with the world, but I don't want to go outside to do it.

YAAAAAR... N, MATEY, YARN!
General | Posted 10 years agoI like pirates, so sue me...
I buckled and bought a birthday for myself a month ahead of schedule. If you can't guess what it is already by the title, it's yarn. Someone's previous yarn stash, over 100 skeins! This is really exciting for me because my color palate just EXPLODED!!! I was trying so very hard to stay thrifty and only use the yarn I had for projects, but the same color over and over again gets boring... Also, I don't want to use my special eyelash yarn for first-time projects.
Now that acquiring materials is no longer a source of guilt, here's what's in the pipes for my loom knitting projects:
CURRENT PROJECT - A sock. Singular, not plural. The only reason I made one at all was so I could learn new techniques. I'm not in love with the project and I'm very tempted to finish it half-way through, but then it couldn't even function as a stocking...
NEAR FUTURE PROJECTS -
1. TARDIS wrist warmers & pattern
2. Super Derpy stuffed fox (I absolutely hate the pattern for this thing, but I've already knit the major parts, so I'm just going to finish it and probably stuff it full of catnip.)
3. IMPROVED stuffed fox & pattern (Building a better snuggle-trap, and hoping to learn how to make it fluffy)
4. Learn to cable knit on the loom, probably make a hat
FAR FUTURE PROJECTS -
Autumn is really only a couple of months away, which means I should plan my projects accordingly if I'm going to donate items this year. The loose goal would be to have things to donate at the end of September so they can be distributed before the cold weather. That means lots of scarves, hats, and wrist warmers. Alongside all that, I have a large cross-stitching piece (39 different colors, sweet jeebus!) and 2 sewing projects in the works. Let's see how things progress, shall we?

Guess who's back?
General | Posted 10 years agoIf anyone is still actively watching me, sorry I dropped off the face of the earth. I got a new job, got engaged, moved into a new apartment, and left said job. During all that time, I was still finger knitting and took up loom knitting. I donated many of my creations last fall to a women's shelter. I am still knitting, and I'm going to try to get pictures up of my creations. I've decided to drop actively marketing my work. If you want something, message me! We'll work something out. If shipping is covered, I'd be find making items at cost. Those of you who have coupons from a promotion I did awhile ago, those are still valid.
TL;DR - I'm back for a spell while I am job hunting. Expect posts.

HEADS UP! Friend looking for Executives for new website.
General | Posted 11 years agoA friend of mine (Thomas Duder) is looking for individuals to get on the ground floor of a new website. You can send him a message on Facebook (or Note me and I'll forward on the message). If you know anyone who might be interested, send this blurb to them.
Currently Bit Trauma is looking for members to bring their specific talents, skills and time to the Executive Branch!
Get in on the ground level and prove yourself with a great team of hard working, easy going types! Covering a wide array of video game-related topics, Bit Trauma is going to provide tons of content, articles, youtube channels and more!
Come be a part of the family! Private Message me if these positions fit you:
>Communications Manager - the job will entail keeping interoffice policy and minutes, but also establishing connections within the game community and with publishers and developers. Establishes working relationships with known brands within the industry. Works with the News Manager.
>Head Designer - the job will concern Bit Trauma brands, logos, designs, websites, and more. Works close with the Financial Manager for BT related goods, online store, and more.
>News Manager - sifts through the latest information from the industry to present to our writers, editors, and Youtubers. Acts as Head Editor as well.
>Financial Manager - handles monetary concerns, establishes ad-based revenue, and requires a deep understanding of the markets and trends concerning the various industries Bit Trauma is involved with. Acts as sales manager as well as scout, finding new means of revenue and employing Bit Trauma where it can act best while keeping our integrity sound.
Currently we have three channels being prepared to air on the upcoming website, and we could always use personalities for Let's Plays, DIY's and more, as well as news coverage and more.
All jobs are pro-bono currently, with a chance for actual pay later. Youtubers get a special pay schedule - you get to keep 100% of the ad revenue of your channel, while BT keeps 100% of ad revenue generated on the website!
PM me for further details, and if you wish to apply for the Executive branch. Please be prepared for an online interview, to answer questions, and to possibly provide work history.
Sincerely,
~Thomas Duder, Vice President of Bit Trauma

Woah! Where'd the time go?!
General | Posted 11 years agoWow, did I ever drop off the face of the earth... Sorry about that!
No, really, I am sorry. I rightfully should have updated this journal as life happened, but this got brushed to the wayside. Two really big things have happened:
1) I have a job. I now happily work at a used bookstore, full time.
2) I got engaged. For the curious, I was the one who proposed and no, I didn't do anything special beyond ordering some custom lockets.
Between my job and my fiancee, the rest of my time has been spread fairly thinly. As a result, tail-scarves went on hold. If anyone is still interested in having one of these lovelies, I'd be glad to make one. Hell, I'll probably do it at cost if asked nicely.
Again, sorry I dropped off the earth. Have a very pleasant day!
PS - Can't find a certain book? Hit me up. I like challenges.

Plush and Blood: The First Review
General | Posted 12 years agoFor those of you who don't know, I'm an avid fan of
TiredOrangeCat and his webcomic series, Plush and Blood. I would happily think that everyone would read his webcomic just because it's awesome, but for the skeptical I wrote a review:
Tired Orange Cat, aka Correy Messer, takes to storylines like a snowball takes to a mountainside. In his first series, The Unstuffed, a simple, seemingly predictable story gradually escalated until it climaxed as a hard-hitting, fast-paced, unstoppable masterpiece that left his audience not lost but gaping for words! Through subtle dialogue and an expressive art style, TOC weaves a vivid cast of characters into a mysterious yet profound setting. All the while, clues are left on the tumultuous past of the Plush and Blood world, allowing the readers to try and piece the puzzle together themselves. The Unstuffed takes on a whole new light the deeper you read into it and the bonus comics, so rereading reveals new insights and offers just as much enjoyment.
Now Plush and Blood continues with its second series: Memory’s Threads. Not even 200 pages in and TOC is laying out bread crumbs for his readers to gobble up. Focused on the ambiguous KATT from The Unstuffed, a world of unanswered questions and dark secrets awaits. Will you find all the puzzle pieces in play? For any avid lovers of stories, new worlds, mysteries, characters, and suspense, I highly recommend reading the Plush and Blood series. Whether you start reading Memory’s Threads or go back to the very beginning of The Unstuffed, you are guaranteed one heck of a ride.

General | Posted 12 years agoHey everyone, just verifying that I'm alive. It's been a long month filled with various health ailments and big decisions, with stress drizzled aaaaaallll over it. Delectable, I know.
I have a few modeling pictures I've been meaning to post, but I like to post in the middle of the day and, well... I'm a forgetful vixen, lightly said.
After school ends and I get some more dental work squared away, I will be starting on Extra Fluffy tail-scarves. I'm considering making these the norm as I believe they'll provide greater volume to my already plush tail-scarves. The color palate is also a little more manageable. Downside is that I get less yardage per skein, so I've got some mathin' to do before I make any final decisions.

Update = Ow!
General | Posted 12 years agoShort Story: Owowow, my back hurts! More tail-scarves after I get better. Please answer my little survey.
Hey guys. Wanted to let you know I'm still around. In fact, I've finished 2 more Tail-Scarves and took some pictures of what fuzzy bracelets would look like. There's also a How-To-Tail-It compilation on the way. However, there's been one thing keeping me from posting...
OW! Frak does my back hurt! I've been dealing with constant lower backache for over two weeks now. (My bad molar has been giving me trouble too, which hasn't helped.) You would think being confined to the couch would mean I'd get more work done, but nope, not happening.
See, there's one little thing about me: I have a low tolerance of pain. This doesn't mean I can't endure pain, but I'm a bit of a baby when I have no reason to try to tough through it. Plus, if there's anything I can do to make the pain go away, that shiz gets done pronto!
So, the good news is that I go to see a chiropractor on Monday. The bad news is pain tends to be the last symptom when it comes to a handful of health and back-related problems, so I don't know how fast my recovery will be.
Also, if you haven't seen it or forgotten about it, I have a little survey up that I would like your feedback on.
Thanks for following along everyone. I really do appreciate it.

And I am on Facebook too!Hey, c'mere! I gots some questions for yah!
General | Posted 12 years agoSoooo... I'm kinda bored! Lately I've been using some of my yarn stock to finish a Facebook commission as well as make another Striped! tail-scarf, but other than that I'm not sure what to weave next.
Guess what that means.... Yep! Imma throw questions at you. (If you're not wearing a helmet, I suggest you duck.)
1. What color would you like to see in scarves next? Current colors found here.
2. Would you like to see more specialty tail-scarves? Like my Sparkly tail-scarf here or like Mexicana Flaire here.
3. What do you think of fuzzy bracelets? I've got some scrap yarn just sitting around that could easily be used for this, but I'm hesitating on picking up some bracelet fasteners until I feel a little more interest. They'd be 1/3 of the thickness of my tail-scarves, so more like bracelets than fuzzy cuffs.
4. If I did make fuzzy bracelets, would you be interested in getting matching sets with tail-scarves? Like 1 or 2 bracelets in the same color(s) as your tail-scarf kind of combo with a discount-dealie-thingie mixed in there.
5. Would you like How-To pictures on how to wear tail-scarves as manes? Or as scarves? There's like... *counts on fingers* ... lots of different ways to wear a scarf, so I'm just throwing the idea out there.
6. Does anyone know a good program or tutorial for .gif images? Admittedly, I haven't googled it yet, but I'm just trying to get some first person reviews to build off of. This is if (and I do mean that with a capital IF) I decide to use FA's advertising.
7. Of all the things listed above, which would you like to see pictures of first on FA?
I'd really appreciate if you could answer a question or two, but no pressure. I'm mostly idea hunting.

General | Posted 12 years agoWelcome to April! This means my launching March Madness promotion is over. A big thank you for everyone who participated! For the month of March, I was able to take 3 tail-scarf orders (1 from FA) and give away 2 coupons!
From this point forward, all tail-scarf designs are $17 plus shipping & handling. ($3 US, ~$10 International, ask for postage quotes)
All the colors for tail-scarves can be seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10194353/
Tail-scarf commissions are OPEN!
Trades are Under Consideration!
Requests are Appreciated but Seldom Fulfilled!
In comparison to March, April will be relatively quiet. Launching the tail-scarf business has me in the red, as expected, so I'm going to hold off ordering a bunch of materials all willy-nilly-like. I'll occassionally repost tail-scarves that are for sale, but there won't be a spam-fest like I did with the coupon for some time.
I'm always looking for ideas, and I look forward to making more tail-scarves!
Keep Warm& Stay Fuzzy!

1. Create a journal linking to this one.
2. Post a comment below linking to your journal.
3. Keep yours eyes open for a note "containing" your coupon!
This isn't just for my watchers, either! Anyone can participate! If you get friends and fans to follow the instuctions above and mention your name in their post (i.e. "I heard about this from [name here]"), I will count that towards your at-cost-due-to-watchers count!!
Remember folks, this is a standing coupon. It will not go away after this promotion ends, and it can be collected at any time.
That's right, imaginary Robin! But don't go getting your tights in a bunch, becase the fun has only just begun!

Color Palate!
General | Posted 12 years agoAlright, I got a functioning color palate up! Go check it out!

Also, I've just opened up a DA account for my scarves as well. The same March Madness promotion applies, so try you hand there too!

Finals
General | Posted 12 years agoUgh, finals week. Two more tests and I'm done for awhile. I haven't dropped off the radar, I've been on the phone with life. Lots of pictures to come once I have the time to take them.
By the way, did you know that
zoryclip got a commission at cost? And that it's done? And that you could get one too by getting people to +watch and name drop? Or heck, just name your own price for a tail-scarf so you don't pay full price at the end of March? Just throwing that out there.

General | Posted 12 years agoHey guys, excuse me while I step away from tail-scarves for a second.
I want to bring your attention to
NightWolfRose . As of late she's been dealing some false accusations about her wares on top of life's normal dilemas. (You can read her journals if you want full details.)
It's a real shame, because her jewelry is quite lovely. I admit, I'm a fan of her work, and as a fellow crafter my heart goes out to her. So, if you could, swing by her page, give her a shout, a smile, and a little love. Maybe even browse her gallery and scraps.
Life can be a real pain in the tail, but not all the people you meet have to be.

--Sytem Reboot--
General | Posted 12 years agoSo it's been a little over a week since my last journal. I don't intend to make these updates a weekly thing, but a handful of things keep floating to the top of my mind. Being as it's past midnight, I thought I'd address them.
1. Negotiable Pricing
This is only around for orders placed in March. It occurred to me that so many crafters are on FA, and they put all sorts of prices out there. I, on the other hand, tossed my prices a week after I posted them and haven't thrown up anything to go by since. Here's a much delayed guided to help you negotiate by:
~ $30+ = That's mighty generous of you! Perhaps you want something extra special?
~$21-$30 = Wow, thanks! This will get me another package of yarn to play with!
~$16-$20 = Sure, sounds decent, I'll get right to work on that!
~$11-$15 = Yeah, I enjoy a good deal as much as the next guy!
~$5 = Wait, what?!
Ladies and gents, you are funding my hobby, so I'm afraid that means no freebies. Also, you are responsible for shipping & handling!
US = $3
International = $10-$15, please consult me about it
2. Colors
Hooo boy. This... this one's a doozy. I changed which brand of yarn I use, and now I have 55 different colors to play with. Among the many other things I plan to do related to tail-scarves, creating a color palate is probably going to be the most intensive task of them all, which means it's at the bottom of the list until I figure out how to tackle it.
For now, I'll have to ask that a reference color is provided for those looking for perfection or a selection from the ol' ROYGBIV for those looking for pretty colors.
3. Progress & Prototypes
So yeah, as I mentioned above, I changed brands. My new supplier had a lot of cool specialty yarns I'd love to play around with. This means even more colors and designs for your wearing pleasure! I won't be fiddling around with that until I get more established. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: (a)you contact me about having a special tail-scarf made from these fancy yarns, or (b) Extra Fluffy. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
As far as prototypes go, the Single-Dipped design should be completed this weekend! If you watch my submission posts, you'll see little updates on what I plan to do next. I am more than happy to hear your ideas too! I could use them too, as I hope to start doing "themed" scarves. What are you hip kids into these days, hmm? Let me know!
I'll drop a teeny reminder that I am running a promotion all this March to kick things off, so take advantage of it!
If you want a tail-scarf, talk to me! Purple_Fox[at]hotmail.co.uk

Critical Failure! Promotion Time - GO!!!
General | Posted 13 years agoOH SNAP! I completely miscalculated the initial prices for my tail-scarves!!! Not only did I forget about additional shipping and handling charges, I found yarn way cheaper on ebay! I'm SO Sorry!
So you know what? No Prices. None. GET RID OF ALL THE PRICES!
Instead, I'm going to kick off my March Madness Promotion early! For the entire month of March, all tail-scarf commission prices are negotiable*!
Just send me a message or email saying what design you want and in what color. Then I'll scour the internet to find the best price on materials so I can pass on the savings* to you!
And, perhaps due to the near insanity brought on by such a massive error, I'm making the deal even better! If you can get 3 people to Watch me and inform me that you sent them this way, I will fulfill your commission at cost*! What are you waiting for?!
Contact me ASAP! Purple_Fox[at]hotmail.co.uk
*Please pay shipping for any and all commissions, thank you. **
**I know, I hate fine print too, but I had no choice!

Open for Business!
General | Posted 13 years agoAnd the prototypes are up! If you haven't seen them already, they are here! For those of you who don't feel like using your eyes for anything but reading at the moment, I will go into further detail below.
The current designs I produced are:
~ Classic: From tip to tip, it's one long, solid barrage of pure color. Only one color is used because only one color is needed!$25
~ Double-Dipped: It could have been a Classic if the ends hadn't been dipped in another shade all together. Two colors are used for this design.$26
~ Striped!: Should I get a Classic in this color? Or maybe the other color? Can't decide? Then get both! Colors alternate to create a perfect blend of favorites. Two colors are used for this design.$30
All designs are about 3-1/2 ft long and weigh approximately 6 ounces. Completely machine washable, though use the dryer sparingly. Do not take an iron to it. Ever.
Pricing includes cost of materials and postage. Custumized designs are welcomed, but pricing will vary for those. At this time, only shipping within the USA. Payments accepted through PayPal.
If you would like to order one of my designs, please contact me!

A Spinner of Tails
General | Posted 13 years agoHello? Anyone out there? Can you hear me alright? If you're all seated, I guess I'll begin.
Years ago, I made this account with no real intention for it. Alright, that's a bit of a fib, I had one intention: I'm a terrible show off. However, I had other ways of showcasing my creativity, and subsequently this was left to gather dust. I primarily used Furaffinity to "stalk" other artists, and that happened less and less as my life changed and my fursona faded into a background image rather than a living definition of self. To be fair, I was never a really gung-ho furry. I went to the odd furmeet, and got around to owning a pair of ears and a cute little jingly bell for my neck, but that was about it. C'est la vie, oui amis?
However, the past has come to visit me once again. Allow me to recount a few moments:
- Several years ago, while on a vacation in Turkey, I purchased a very large skein of eyelash yarn and wove it into a beautiful, fuzzy, jewel-purple scarf, one which I still wear and recieve many compliments on today.
- Over two years ago, after a big move, I got into Live Action Role Playing, and began to heavily costume my characters as best as I could.
- One year later, a group of friends invited me to go partake in a much more immersive LARP experience. I began work in earnest on a costume for a cat-race character, and another scarf was woven, this time in flickering orange with brown tips. I wove a small cord to tie it on and use it as a tail. Though the cat-character never came to light, the scarf was used as a tail anyway for a later LARP game (this time sported on an otter-like changeling).
- Last Halloween, the aforementioned tail was used as a mane around my neck for a fox costume.
- Now, these last two winters I have been weaving yet again, making at least one scarf a season to give away to a lucky friend.
As you can now see, weaving has made it's way back into my system. I suppose it's always been there, but now it's resurfaced and around to stay for some time at least. Though I wish to continue with my beloved hobby, the byproducts need a home other than a shoebox by the front door. That's when I began to think... Out there, in the big wide world, are many subtle furries like myself, right? That would like to show their animalistic side with pride, but aren't ready to jump into the world fursuiting. And aren't there also furries who take such pride that they want to keep part of their fursona with them where ever they went? That would appreciate something lightweight and versitile.
So it has been decided: I will be a Spinner of Tails.
Several prototypes have been created, with one more variation on the way. With luck I will have photos up soon, along with other details. What I want (and hope) you will do is watch me very closely. Watch, and tell others to watch. This is only the beginning.
