All joking aside, I'd be too scared to room with anyone I don't really know.
05. How is the best way to find you?
I'm not sure how to answer this, really. I'll have my laptop, but probably will be too busy to really check it much, on the off chance somebody knows I even exist on various social networking sites. XD;
06. Are there any panels you might be attending?
Panels are probably where I will be most often, actually. Not sure which ones yet. Still have yet to prioritize my schedule. I will probably do that on the bus ride over.
07. What do you look like?
Short, a bit on the pudgy side, I will probably be wearing a purple-and-blue hair wig, purple ears and tail. I also will be lugging around my (WAY too heavy XD) purple messenger bag that has all my gear in it. I will probably be wearing some Sonic t-shirts and or t-shirts from previous cons, possibly one of my Sonic cosplay-hat-thingies.

I dunno. Probably not. I am, ironically, WAAAAY too slow at art. (I don't even take commissions for that same reason). I also am WAY too self-concious of my art. But if I feel like it, maybe.

For the most part. The dragon-side of me has only ever come out ONCE (not at a con), and only because it was absolutely neccessary. I don't want to have to bring her out again, but I know my boundaries.
Most other times, I am nice, to a fault, though I can sometimes come accross as cold, I don't mean to. I'm just not all that good at this 'being social' thing. (I have Asbergers)

Just a little health update...
Posted 10 years agoSo...that dizzyness problem I've been having...
I went to the doctor again today about it. Since the surgeon I talked to before didn't think surgery would help, because the Chiari malformation wasn't actually what is causing my symptoms (I DO still have it...it's just not what's causing my symptoms), I went back to talk to the neurologist to find out if there was anything else it could be.
It turns out what I thought was merely a symptom may be the actual cause of all this: that my two eyes aren't exactly...seeing eye-to-eye with each other anymore. He says I should go to a "visual-therapy doctor." I didn't even know such a thing existed.

As always, other not-so-new news:
my novel from 6(?) years worth of NaNoWriMo is still only half written. *sigh* It is fighting me every step of the way, but if I could just finish it, I might be able to actually bring in some money...assuming it ever gets noticed, which, considering my current level of non-entity-ness is not likely. *sigh* :|

Also, I came up with a tentative commission price list...but I kind of feel it is inadequate for my skills/amount of time I spend on my art. But if I price too high, nobody will buy from me. So I'm still not ready to take them yet. But I will have to start doing something soon, as I am running out of money. So, if anybody has any advice as to setting up commisions, it would be appreciated.

So...I went to a Neurologist today...
Posted 11 years agoFinally found out what's causing my dizziness, my balance trouble, my ear problems and maybe even some of my vision problems.
Turns out I have a this thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold.....i_malformation -___-
Basically, my skull is too small for my brain. I'm probably gonna need surgery that will remove some bone that's pinching part of my lower brain. I'm NOT happy about this, but I feel better that its not something more serious and/or deadly. *SIGH*
EDIT 3/9/2015: So, last week, I went to talk with a neurosurgeon about that surgery thing...he doesn't think my symptoms are severe enough to go through with it. On the one hand, that's good, cuz I won't have to get surgery...but on the other hand...I guess I just have to Deal With It. -__- *sigh*

my novel from four years worth of NaNoWriMo is still only half written. *sigh* It is fighting me every step of the way, but if I could just finish it, I might be able to actually bring in some money...assuming it ever gets noticed, which, considering my current level of non-entity-ness is not likely. *sigh* :|

Also, I came up with a tentative commission price list...but I kind of feel it is inadequate for my skills/amount of time I spend on my art. But if I price too high, nobody will buy from me. So I'm still not ready to take them yet. But I will have to start doing something soon, as I am running out of money. So, if anybody has any advice as to setting up commisions, it would be appreciated.

Are you afraid of:
[] the dark
[] staying single forever
[X] being a parent (kids = SCARY. Especially when they start screaming. Makes me want to either run the other way, or curl up and hide [behind my spikes :P ] Also, I have NO idea how to relate to them. Like at ALL.)
[X] giving birth (owch. No. Just no. I don't like pain, THANKYOUVERYMUCH. Besides, then I would have the fear of kids to deal with. For 18 YEARS. Or longer, if they were to fail in life the way I have >.>)
[X] being myself in front of others (sloooooowly getting over this. though it starts over again with every new person I meet.)
[] open spaces
[] closed spaces
[X] heights (a little)
[] dogs
[] birds
[] fish
[X] spiders (somewhat. I used to be more so, but when you live alone, you have to be able to deal with them when they show up. It's mainly when they surprise me that I freak out. This may be one fear that I go more into "fight" mode for than "flight". Defending my home from invaders. XP )
[] flowers or other plants

[X] being touched (It has to do with my disability. I don't like invasions of personal space.)

[X] becoming deaf (I am like...SUPER-PROTECTIVE of my ears. and my recent illness kinda scared me, not so much about going deaf, but will I always be dizzy like this? Although I had a bit of ringing that wouldn't go away for a while that made me a bit nervous too. That part has pretty much gone away now, thankfully.)
[X] growing up (make that growing OLD. since I am an adult now. But when I was a kid, I was afraid of growing up, and I'm still a bit afraid of growing old...mainly because of that disease I mentioned, but also death)

[X] becoming deaf (I am like...SUPER-PROTECTIVE of my ears. and my recent illness kinda scared me, not so much about going deaf, but will I always be dizzy like this? Although I had a bit of ringing that wouldn't go away for a while that made me a bit nervous too. That part has pretty much gone away now, thankfully.)
[X] growing up (make that growing OLD. since I am an adult now. But when I was a kid, I was afraid of growing up, and I'm still a bit afraid of growing old...mainly because of that disease I mentioned, but also death)

my novel from four years worth of NaNoWriMo is still only half written. *sigh* It is fighting me every step of the way, but if I could just finish it, I might be able to actually bring in some money...assuming it ever gets noticed, which, considering my current level of non-entity-ness is not likely. *sigh* :|

Also, I came up with a tentative commission price list...but I kind of feel it is inadequate for my skills/amount of time I spend on my art. But if I price too high, nobody will buy from me. So I'm still not ready to take them yet. But I will have to start doing something soon, as I am running out of money. So, if anybody has any advice as to setting up commisions, it would be appreciated.

Grr. I've had this stupid thing since March. Throbbing, itchy, plugged, sometimes painful ears is NOT fun. And recently...dizzyness. Constantly, though more pronounced when I'm at my computer, which makes doing anything on the computer, including art/writing, a chore, and I don't want to attempt any gaming in case the dizzyness gets worse.
I've been to the doctor twice for this (and I go back tomorrow too), the antibiotic hasn't worked either time. Hopefully tomorrow they'll give me something that actually WORKS...I want this GONE my the time my vacations rolls around in June...
Anyway, just had to vent a little, and explain why I haven't been arting...(As if anybody even cares).

Posted 11 years agoSoooo...it's high time for a new journal. This has been going around FA lately, and it's a clever idea, so I decided to do it. Only...I have so many main characters, it's hard to do this for all of them at once. So...I'll do it for one at a time. First up: My first ever fancharacter (MLP), Amethyst.
What made you choose the species of your main Character?
I have always identified with winged unicorns. Amethyst, Defender of Dreams (I know, silly title is silly :P But there's a reason for that, but to find out, you'll have to read my fanfic. It is here for anyone who's interested: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/243251.....t-s-Adventures *shameless plug* ) was the first ever character I made. Though initially not a MLP fancharacter, when I discovered fanart/fanfic and that I could make up my own stories in conjunction with franchises I loved, it just seemed to click.
For the record, Am was a purple winged unicorn LONG before MLP even HAD winged unicorns (First ever pic of her (note the date on the pic: 2001) : http://violetwhirlwind.deviantart.c.....thyst-19595369 ), so no accusing her of being a rip-off of Twilight Sparkle will be tolerated. If anything, it's the other way around, but I can't accuse them of that because...well...it IS their franchise, and Am is still just a fancharacter. I just had to get that disclaimer out of the way.
Is your character just like you, or how you want to be?
As in a self-insert into the fandom? Maaaybe, but she has her flaws as well. (I'm not sure how else to answer this question.)
Does your character have the same personality you have?
Kinda. She has similar self-conscious tendancies, but she's far more confidant/brave than I am.
Does your character have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
I guess so, at least partly. She doesn't like injustice, oppression and bullying. Conversely, she likes adventure, whereas I am rather sedentary. But she lives in a drastically different world than I do, so anything else doesn't really apply.
Does your character look like you at all?
I'm not REAAALLY a quadrupedal purple winged-unicorn, so, no. XP
Is your character the same gender as you, if not why?
Yes. But then most (G1) MLP characters are female anyway. XP Considering the intended demographic.
Do you have more then one main character?
Yes. I have more characters than I can handle. XD; I will get to the other main ones at a later time. (maybe)
Do you have a back story for your character, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Yes (but you'll have to read the fanfic to find out. XP *plug* ), and not really...unless you look at it more deeply as symbolism for overcoming bullies or something, but it wasn't meant to be that deep, really.
Is your character mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
Yes? (though that part is not yet written, and I feel kinda silly about it now, as it's with a canon character (Nightshade). But these stories were first made up years ago, when I was still a massive fangirl (although I still am, kinda XP) and I don't know how to or if I could bring myself to change them), and N/A. I do not have a significant other, IRL. (and that's how I like it)
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
N/A (see above)
Is there something special about your character that you think sets them apart from others?
In her world,, as a hybrid, she is the only one of her kind to have ever survived longer than a few days.
Do you have much art of your main character?
I have some. Not enough, but she's kinda been back-burner'd. XP
Would you ever consider parting with your main character, if so why?
Nope. Change, maybe, delete, never! (I could never do that to any of my characters...my characters are like my children. Brain-babies if you will.)
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main character?
N/A I have no suits, least of all quad-suits. XP I know quad-suits are possible, but I don't know how they manage it. It would kill my back. XD;
Have you ever roleplayed with your main character, or do you prefer not to?
Some. Not enough. XP But it seems the only pony RPs around nowadays are G4, and she is NOT G4. I also have a fanfic of her (see Question #1 *plug* XP )
Do you consider your main character to be a part of you in any way?

Posted 12 years agoI just went to the doctor...turns out I'm going to need surgery for this great big honkin' HUGE kidney stone I have. Like...real surgery. Knock-me-completely-out surgery. So they can cut open my side and hammer at it with a tiny jackhammer. Great. Just. Great. And I'm going to have to stay in the hospital for one, maybe two days. Body, Y U do dis?

Pet-care, you're doing it wrong...
Posted 12 years ago...aka, how NOT to lift your dog.
So, today, as I was coming home from a long day, tired and with hands full of groceries. I saw something that seriously disturbed me.
One of my neighbors, in the process of trying to stop their small dog from barking, attempted to pick it up...however, the manner in which they lifted the dog was VERY WRONG. They lifted it by the leash/collar, suspending it in the air briefly as they swung the dog into their lap. It was only for a couple seconds, but still...That is NOT the way you pick up your pet. They could have damaged it's neck/strangled it that way. Poor dog.
I wanted to say something, I should have said something...I am disgusted at myself for NOT saying anything...but...How do you tell a neighbor you don't know well at all that they're using improper dog-lifting methods/hanging their dog? Every way I could think of to word it would have come out sounding accusatory, and I don't do confrontations well at all.

my novel from two years worth of NaNoWriMo is still only half written. *sigh* It is fighting me every step of the way, but if I could just finish it, I might be able to actually bring in some money...assuming it ever gets noticed, which, considering my current level of non-entity-ness is not likely. *sigh* :|

Also, I came up with a tentative commission price list...but I kind of feel it is inadequate for my skills/amount of time I spend on my art. But if I price too high, nobody will buy from me. So I'm still not ready to take them yet. But I will have to start doing something soon, as I am running out of money. So, if anybody has any advice as to setting up commisions, it would be appreciated.

Yes, I AM alive...
Posted 12 years ago...and I AM working on art. It's just going very slowly because it's a huge project. I'm getting close to having the digital inking stage done though. I wish I was faster. *sigh*
I have also started a vollunteering/job training course thing at a local animal shelter, so I will not be around during the day as much (as if anybody cares >.> ) It's fun, the only problem is...I wish I could take all the dogs and cats home with me, but I can't afford to right now. :/ Oh well. Once I get a real job maybe... *sigh*

Where has the motivation gone?

Where has all my motivation gone? I used to like drawing...why am I producing nothing? D: So many ideas...the inspiration is still there, but all motivation is...*POOF!* Gone. I was recently told to...essentially...start over with my drawing...relearn everything...that I'm not professional enough to take commissions. And, while that may be true...it's a bit depressing. I thought I was getting somewhere...granted, slowly, but...
I tried...I took a stab at drawing from life, ended up with some little sketches of mostly chairs, but...I'm just not interested in drawing chairs. It's been a week (or more) since I've drawn anything. D: They said to do gesture drawings...but the thing is...I'm too slow, gesture drawings do nothing but frustrate me, and by the time I get even a line down, my subject is likely to be long gone. Unless it's like...you know...chairs. -__-
I'm just so frustrated with myself.

Posted 12 years agoJust discovered this wishlist meme. While I doubt anyone will see it, let alone be able to fullfill anything in it, never hurts to try. I usually don't like asking for things, as It makes me feel like I'm being a mooch, but...
Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Step 3 - The List
1) A NEW COMPUTER! My current one is old, slow, and tempermental, with both games and art programs, and I can't afford a new one right now. This thing is 10 years old, and it's starting to drive me insane! I can't art without slow, I can't play Minecraft without serious lag, and it complains at me (making loud straining noises) with even YouTube. The power supply has already died (and been replaced) at least twice...it's time to put this PC out to pasture. But I can't afford a new one. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but it's driving me crazy. My folks can't afford to get me a new one either, and they don't want to 'enable' my gaming. But I can't even do decent art on this old thing. I have photoshop, but can't really use it.
2) A job. And I mean a reliable, steady, long-term one, preferably either in an office, working with animals, or some foot-in-the door at a graphics place. It needs to be somewhere that I am respected and given proper break times, and that I feel safe (I have been bullied at work before, which makes it hard for me to trust that it won't happen again. "Once bitten, twice shy" and all that.) I doubt anyone is just going to go out and offer me a job, (and even if they did, I'm not sure I would trust it...too many scams floating around.) so, well-wishes as to finding one are fine.

4) More time for art. But that kinda ties in to # 3. Also more publicity

Also, I came up with a tentative commission price list...but I kind of feel it is inadequate for my skills/amount of time I spend on my art. But if I price too high, nobody will buy from me. So I'm still not ready to take them yet. But I will have to start doing something soon, as I am running out of money. So, if anybody has any advice as to setting up commisions, it would be appreciated.

Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Also, my novel from two years worth of NaNoWriMo is still only half written. *sigh* It is fighting me every step of the way, but if I could just finish it, I might be able to actually bring in some money...assuming it ever gets noticed, which, considering my current level of non-entity-ness is not likely. *sigh* :|

Posted 15 years agoI went and joined National Novel Writing Month. I must be insane. I'm not panicking as much as I was directly following signing up but...50k words in just one month is a HUGE (and for me, somewhat unrealistic) goal...And I haven't even decided which story to do...though I think I've narrowed it down to two choices.

I've moved from DA! (well...I'm still over there, but I'm here now too.)
Also...thinking of starting taking commisions. NOTE: I said I'm THINKING of it. I'm not prepared yet, but...anybody that has any pointers as to how I should go about setting up a priceing list or other advice as to setting up commisions would be appreciated.
