Hello everyone,
I'm Lingling and I'll be taking over maintenance of the VirginiaFurs page! A big thanks to the previous owner of this account spazzticglitch who created and ran this page for the last 6 years. Due to an increasingly busy schedule he has asked someone to take over page maintenance for him and I stepped forward. In the upcoming weeks I will be updating information and providing more recent links to local meetup websites and reaching out to other groups to try and help you guys come together, both online and in person! If anyone is hosting a VA furry group or event and would like their information posted here, send me a note or leave a shout and I will be sure to contact you!
A little about me: I'm a VA Fur located in Blacksburg Virginia. I'm a current officer of  hokiefurs, and I have been a part of the furry community for going on 7 years now. I have been to a few conventions and meetups and I'm here because I would like very much to help other VA furs arrange meet ups and con trips.

Hey guys, way too long no see!

I am extremely sorry for not keeping up with this group as much as I'm sure everyone would like. I'm having a difficult time managing this group on my own with everything else that's going on in my life. If you would like to help manage the group, note me about it on my main account and we can talk!

First off,
is organizing a Harlem Shake video over memorial day weekend. This will take place in Roanoke, and suiters and non-suiters are welcome! We are taking suggestions of specific locations where to set it up, so please leave your suggestion in the comments below!
I'm sure we will all be hanging out afterward, so bring a sketchpad and we can art jam or something. Cards games or anything else is welcome!

Second, CONVENTIONS!
So, who is excited for AnthroCon? What cons ARE you excited for or are planning to attend? Any smaller cons that aren't very well known you wanna get out there?

Would anyone be interested in having a Virginia Furs meet at AC? Would anyone want to help organize it? Hit me up on my main account and we can work something out!

Third, what do you want out of this group?
Just what it says! What would you like to see me post more of here? Events is sort of obvious, but what sort of events? Do you want consistent convention journals to see who else is going where?
What about general discussion posts? Like crazy con/meetup/event stories and the like? Let me know!

Hey you guys! I've got some upcoming events to share!

Hey!

I'm working on getting an event together for charity in May 5th. It's for the kids for the Roanoke Children's Miracle Network and SPCA. You can come in suit and not!

Bouncy palace and face paint. Fun with kids and what not. We will be having an RV to change and cool off in. Fursuit head tree and extra fans will be inside the RV. Water will be at the event.

FINALLY, if any of you would like to organize a meetup for all the VirginiaFurs going, I will be more than happy to help advertise it here! I'd love for there to be a meet, and meet some of you awesome furs! However, I'm managing the 540-Furs right now, and having a difficult time getting that off the ground (which, by the way, I'd love help if anyone wants to volunteer). The premiere Fur Meet in NJ!!

A large outdoor function that happens RAIN or SHINE in Central, NJ....not once.....but actually two times a year on Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend. We have games, music, TONS OF FOOD, fursuiting events, and a ton of FUN!

Event features: Air Conditioned headless lounge with water, misting fans and tents, shade, fursuit games, lawn games (horseshoes, etc), LIVE DJs, Razor's Food Court (featuring grill pavilion and other stalls to be announced), Shortwave's FULL SERVICE BAR, and MUCH more!

The fun starts at 2 p.m., and food and fun will ensue from then on out ^^ Show up early :0 Otherwise you'll miss out on burgers ^^ I eat... A LOT! LOL j/k ^^

Amenities include three shelters, family picnic sites and grills, playgrounds, volleyball courts and horseshoe pits. Also features one lighted baseball/softball field and an unlighted multipurpose field, which are used for soccer, football, and softball, depending upon the season. Located at the edge of an urban area next to the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater and the Sentara Princess Anne outpatient medical center.

Bring balls, frisbees, horsey shoes, v-balls, what have you ^^ It'll be a day of amazing fun <3

Also, there will be a pie eating contest ^^ FIRST 15 PEOPLE TO BUG ME FIRST GET TO PARTICIPATE :0 Another good reason to get there early ^^ Cause the prize is a 25$ gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse for the skinny kid that can eat a ridiculous amount and never gain weight D:< There will also be a raffle ^^ 1$ raffle tickets. The money will go towards a future charitable event. Now, the raffle winners will get to pie one of us moderators in the face ^^ If all of us shindig runners show-up, the options will be either for Ark, Casey, Talyn, Hengstolf, and myself ^^ All luck of the draw so you can smoosh a ton of whipped cream into someones face >:D I think some of the boys will chicken out >> LOL THIS IS A HUGE EVENT! What we were thinking is that next weekend, or the weekend after, is that we could have a meet at the Mill Mountain Zoo.

Date: This is up to you. Either June 11th, or June 18th. Leave in the comments which date would be better for you guys.
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:30 (at the latest, since that's when the Zoo closes)
Admission: $7.50 for adults, if you're bringing children up the age 11 their admission is $5.00.

Sadly, fursuits are NOT welcome in the Zoo. It could disturb the animals.

We can fursuit at The Star, and possibly at Macado's as well (we're going to call and ask), CiCi's Pizza has also welcomed us back with suits anytime.
