FWA Preorder Pokemon Trainer Badges Preorder deadline 25th
Posted 8 years agoMy queue is just about empty and with FWA coming up that means I will have ample time to work on badges.
Right now I have roughly 5 slots just begging to be filled. I can do any species, any gender. You have a choice of teams beyond PokemonGo. You want to cosplay another team from the franchise? I've got you covered.
Choose your region of badges and favorite pokemon to have on your team.
Add a kind headshot and bust to that and you'll have a stunning double-sided piece of artwork that'd work well for most occasions.
Now that I learned how to use google forms I have now made it even easier for you to commission a badge. All you have to do is follow the link, fill out the form and your all set.
I'm setting the FWA preorder deadline to the 25th so I'll have the time if things get hectic before the con or if they are badges that need to be mailed out.

February Update Knee, life, class, FWA Preorders Open
Posted 8 years agoHey all, I hope everyone’s doing well and had a good February. Mine went well. I’m still amazed at the progress I’ve made art wise so far thanks to the botox keeping my migraines at bay. I ended up coming up with quite a few ideas for FWA that I’m hoping to offer both on preorder and in artist alley this year.
I’m especially happy with the Pokemon Trainer Badges I came up with. I really hope that I might get to make a few more in time for the con. I am excited to know that there’s a chance I’ll see someone walking around wearing artwork by me. Finally I’m feeling like I’m making headway on the road to becoming a established artist.
My knee’s doing quite a bit better too. My knee was really sore for a bit there and my foot was swelling so bad that it ripped the tongue in my shoe though now it’s finally starting to show good progress. I’m semi out of the brace now. I still wear it when I’m out for extra support though I’m out of it around the house now. Right now I just need to start building the muscle back up. I’m planning to go swimming and start a swim class at the Y for people with knee problems/injuries. We’re thinking that’ll help me get the muscle built back up. My goal’s to be out of the walker by FWA but, we’re just playing it day by day for now. I’m not going to risk taking a backslide after the complications that came with this injury as it is. Hopefully by then I’ll have some new shoes though I’m hoping to get the money together for some footprint insoles before our annual beach trip. I’ve been wanting to make sure my knee’s done acting up and my foot stops swelling before I invest in new shoes even though these hurt my feet. Aside from that the insoles would be a nice investment given they form to your feet and based on the tests I’ve seen with the product they’d last me a crazy long time and are even able to move from one shoe to the other and be reformed to my feet if needed.
Toward the end of the month I started to struggle a bit, the botox was warring off and the migraines came back. Though I did my best to work through it. I did my best to get at least the bare minimum completed for my class at Stan Winston.
The class has been really awesome. Bruce D. Mitchell is a cool and comical guy; not to mention a skilled craftsman. Soon I’ll post pictures of my finished mask but, for now I’m still hard at work on it. It’s due in 2 weeks and I have a lot of work ahead of me. I’ve learned a lot and learned a craft I’m definitely going to be using a lot in the near future. I’m tempted to try and make something for FWA’s art show if I have the time. If not I have some pieces from last year and this year that’ll go up in it.
On the subject of FWA I’m taking FWA Pre-Orders for Badges. The Pokemon Trainer Badges are the ones I’ve mostly been concentrating on but, I have other styles available.
I have 5 slots Open for the Pokemon Trainer Badges they are $35. For that you get a double-sided badge with your choice of expression, region badges, pokemon, trainer ID, your team and social media.
It’s a badge you can enjoy even after the con’s over.

Success!
Posted 8 years agoThanks to a surprise crazy generous tip from a fan I have reached my savings goal. I'm going to be taking the Dynamic Mask Making class with Stan Winston School of Character Arts. I am beyond thankful to be taking this class. I had just about given up hope on getting the money together for it and then to my surprise I got a message with someone willing to help out. I'm so happy I could do backflips.
You truly never know when someone in this world might show you some unbelievable amount of kindness.
While taking this web course I am for sure going to do my best to learn all I can and make something fantastic.
Now that I'm enrolled I only have to worry about prepping my work station and getting ideas for class the 18th.
Inbetween that and now I'll keep doing what I'm doing, making art and prepping for FWA. I have a few more Badge ideas in mind in addition to the Pokemon Badges you all might be excited to see. I have high hopes that I might get some badge commissions this year before the con and who knows maybe I'll get lucky and get some take home coms at FWA. I'm optimistic. I will be offering FWA pickup for badges.

Does anyone know a good printing service?
Posted 8 years agoHey all,
I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for good printing services either online and/or in the Greensboro area. I've grown increasingly frustrated with printing things at UPS and Staples. It's a struggle to get things printed right color wise and on the right material in a timely manner. I'm growing especially nervous about printing my new badge type. I've never printed anything double sided before and I don't foresee it being a easy print job. With FWA coming up I want my art show pieces and just artwork in general to be a higher quality print. Being able to have them printed without depending on my beach trip would be wonderful.
Another reason why I post this journal is I kinda want to offer the Pokemon badge printed on PVC cards. So a recommendation for a service that does that'd be great too.
Thank you

Knee Update
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone. I have a little update on my knee. Monday morning I went and was put under anesthesia. While under he straightened my knee out and now I'm in a stabilizer brace till my follow-up next week. It's been a little awkward and pretty painful but, I'm hanging in there. Thankfully I have some pain medication to assist. It seems that it was a dislocation of sorts. After he fixed it I woke up and everything was in alignment. My foot was straight and when I put it on the floor it actually stood the way it's supposed to though I'm not supposed to put any weight on it yet.
That's pretty much it for the update now other than all slots are still open on commissions right now. I've been working on examples and adoptables this week so far. I'm still a ways from having what I need for the Stan Winston class. Though hopefully that'll change. I'll be posting a small yard sale soon. Hopefully to get a portion of what I need.

January Update: Unusual start. Commissions Open!
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone. I figured it's about time for a update. This month's given me a interesting to say the least view of what could be awaiting me this year.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but, at the start of December I started a new migraine treatment. Botox and it seems to be working pretty well after it kicked in; I only had 3 migraines and for the first time in my life they only lasted 2 days. My January's been very minimal for migraines as well. Maybe a few headaches here and there but, no real migraines.
It feels kind miraculous to be honest. Comparing my art count for January to last year I've already legitimately done more than I had last January. The slump I usually hit at this time of month just hasn't been as immobilizing and I'm happy with that. If this is any sort of prediction for 2017 I think it’ll be a great art year.
Now as much as I hate to go from a positive uplifting mood to a depressing one I do have a less than ideal update. My knee is locked for 2 whole weeks now. I legit can’t straighten it. I had to take a trip to the place I fear the most; The ER. Luckily this time it wasn’t as bad as the past. I got a MRI and X-ray of my knee and was discharged at midnight. Then about a week later I went to Duke for a check up and for the most part all was well. My doctors were a bit concerned about my knee situation but, happy to see I’ve been doing decently on other planes. My migraine doctor seemed a bit surprised by how well botox has worked for me. Then my other neurologist seemed happy I’ve been managing the tics and other issues pretty well though I think my tics in the hands have gotten a little worse. It’s hard to tell though since I haven’t been sleeping lately.
Wednesday I went back to my Orthopedic doctor and he’s stumped. He’s never seen anything like my knee situation. The MRI scan was clean. There is no known physical reason for why my knee won’t straighten out. He gave me a cortisone shot and some muscle relaxers and I got the first good night sleep in weeks as a result. My knee straightened out a tiny bit but, it’s about where it was when it originally locked. I’m going back today and the next step’s to put me under anesthesia and see if it’ll straighten out then cause despite my efforts it won’t straighten out for me. Hopefully soon we’ll figure out what’s wrong I just feel like I have all the luck; Nothing’s ever simple.
On another note that’s hopefully a bit more positive. There’s a course I’m planning on taking next month with Stan Winston School of Character Arts. It’ll help me improve my sculpting skills and leave me with a finished mask, a certificate of mastery and a new skill set I can concentrate into costuming and art. That is also the major reason why I am open for commissions right now.
It looks like a lot of fun, I already have ideas sketched out. It’ll be highly informative and useful; though I need to try and come up with the fee for the workshop and supplies. The course’ll cost me over 240 dollars.
I would really appreciate it if I could get a signal boost of some type. You will receive a huge thank you from me for that.
I am open for all types of commissions I offer right now. There’ll be unlimited slots on badges and headshots. I also have some experimental badge slots that’ll follow FWA’s theme. I’m hoping to also get some adoptables, and PWYW YCH’s up as well. Feel free to comment down below with suggestions for what you’d like to see as YCH’s from me if you like. I’m also considering doing some icons after I do some playing around with them a bit.

Now that is all for now. I will probably edit this and post an additional update after my appointment later if I don’t just make a quick journal. If you are following me on twitter you will know first.
How are you doing? Has your month gone well? Do you have any plans for the weekend? Mine are kinda up in the air at the moment though I’ve been trying all week to get to the theater to see Split. I’ve been excited for that movie since the first trailer. Between the leading man, what I know of the story and the director I’m pretty sure I’m going to enjoy it.

Happy New Year! Updates and Resolutions
Posted 9 years agoHey, everyone I hope you all have a happy new year. 2016 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me between health problems, bad luck and just a lot of things in my own life. There’s been quite a few diamonds in the year too.
January first I got to go to my first anime con, later on that month I got my fursuit head of Takeshi from
citymuttfursuits and it’s brought me so much happiness and great memories I’ll cherish from this year. Thanks to that head and my friends I’ve gotten to know better, I really got into fursuiting and learned a lot about myself and my character.
Then FWA was just that much more fun and I had one of the best Halloweens I’d had in years. I got to go to more meets this year than last year, went to my first furbowl and made a few friends in the process.
I started working on improving my heath and having fun with it while October kinda sent me a curve ball. I am going to try and continue to get in better shape and start going more places with Mattie.
It was also a good year for art. I managed to while I’d still call it by the skin of my teeth, complete my New Years resolution from last year. I got to try so many things while there were some things I wanted to do but, was unable to I am very happy with what I accomplished. I’m looking forward to posting the art summary even though it’ll be delayed till I can get photoshop back up.
My Christmas also went quite a bit better than past years. One of my cousins having had given me something I’ll be able to use and have been wanting for a while. A portable desktop easel and some drawing gloves. Then I also a few days ago got a present I think will really improve my artwork my grandparents gave me. The inks slate. I’ve been watching this project for a while but, couldn’t get on the preorder back in October. You will probably see a lot of artwork that’s been drawn on it soon.
I’m looking forward to seeing how 2017 will go. I’m going to enter into it with a optimistic attitude. I also have plans to make some more New Years Resolutions come true.
Looking at the tally from last year’s resolutions I successfully accomplished. 10.5 of 11. Not bad, who says new years resolutions are empty promises.
Ankle Update - This past week we went to physical therapy and well the inactivity I went into after my pain medicine wasn't refilled has sent my recovery on a bit of a backslide. Though she gave me some exercises and recommended a 4 wheel walker to help take stress off my knee and get me active again. Now we're waiting on the doctor and I'm trying to do what I can though the exercises have increased my pain quite a bit. I'm generally one with a high pain tolerance but, this has been difficult. I've had sprains, fractures, torn ligaments in the past and never had this much trouble or taken this long to recover. I'm doing what I can though. I'm sad to say I won't be able to attend Ichibancon afterall. I really wanted to go but, I can't walk. Guess I'll try for next year's. For now I'm going to spend a quiet evening watching movies till midnight and see where things go from there.
2017 resolutions
-Get at least 2 pieces done a month minimum. (I narrowly got one in a few months here this otto be a challenge)
-Stress myself out less and try to get myself in a environment I can succeed in and keep things fun (this has been a work in progress for a while; thought I’d finally do this as a resolution.)
-Get my ankle and knee back in sorts and just get in better shape in general
-Start a Youtube channel. (This has been put off for a long time. I always wanted to do one and even had a small channel before youtube started paying their creators and MVs and AMVs became something that’d be muted at the least. I’ve been planning it out and prepping for it. All I need now is to take the plunge and start making videos)
-Make a proper price and example sheet (this has been put off far too long. Why is timing yourself so hard!)
-Fursuit more, learn new costuming techniques, continue revisions on Takeshi and make a couple fursuit partials.
-Try to get more commissions and expand my art skills and badge types.
-Work toward going back to college.
-Learn to skateboard (this is kinda a optional one. Depending on my ankle’s recovery but, I’d like to learn. Always wanted to and a Youtube channel I found the same week I got hurt’s kinda brought back the interest.)
-Write more, maybe even get some stories finished and edited (The second half’s going to be a hard one)
How was your holiday? I hope you have a Happy New Year and a wonderful start to 2017

Merry Christmas
Posted 9 years agoMerry Christmas everyone. I hope you had a wonderful day with your family no matter what you celebrate. Mine went a lot better than expected. It was nice. I may elaborate more in a later journal for now. Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a happy new year as well.
Feeling like Sisyphus Life/injury Update Christmas wishlist
Posted 9 years agoHey, everyone I hope your all doing well. I can definitely say I've been better, but I'm hanging in there.
My November was a bit of a rollercoaster. We felt like we were finally getting somewhere with figuring out what we need to do to get in better shape overall then it's like someone just ripped the ground out from under us. What positives we were feeling just seemed to go right out the window pretty much all at once. It was like we had finally gotten that boulder pushed where we were above water when the ground just slipped and we landed at the bottom with it on top of us.
After a month of waiting for the MRI we finally got it. Just wish it'd of yielded more... obvious results. Everything in my ankle for the most part looked good so other than the possibility something in the soft tissue's not showing up we pretty much aren't any better off than we were before. My ankle's still getting worse. I'm set to start physical therapy soon to see if that'll do anything though I have a feeling that we might be going back to the orthopedic again but, we'll see how that goes. It's just really frustrating. One thing though I did get some stronger pain medication prescribed so I'm at least getting enough relief to sleep through the night. Just wish I could do more. I'm just barely hanging onto my new years resolution by a thread right now. Between the constant intense pain from my ankle and the drowsiness from the pain med I'm far from able to focus on anything. I keep trying but, I don't want to push it.
On another medical related update. This week I went to Duke and got Botox for the first time. It surprisingly didn't hurt too bad. I had definitely built it up in my mind more than it actually was. It won't start working for another week or so but, as of my current situation with it. It's not too bad I have a bit of soreness when I run my hand over some of the injection sites and my brow feels a little heavy aside from that I'm fine so far. Hope it works and decreases my migraines.
As for artwork I'm trying. I'll get stuff up as I get it done but, no promises I'll get much art up this month. Especially since I've temporarily lost access to photoshop. I should get it back soon but, as a part of some of the events I mentioned above my creative cloud account along with a few other things were a part of the collateral damage from the boulder rolling back down hill.
On another art related note I've been strongly considering redesigning logo and possibly even my main fursona. I'm still brainstorming at the moment but, I really want to come up with something that represents me. I've only mildly tried designing a fursona in the past just being happy with the characters I come up with. Though I've never really seriously attempted designing a by definition fursona. It's by no means going to be a easy task but, I'm hoping to come up with something I'm proud of. I'm not too sure I won't be asking for help at some point. Now even after I design a fursona even if the name changes I'm not going to change my user by any means not going to change accounts. VJCoon'll still be my main handle especially from a artist point. I honestly don't know if anything'll really change other than I might just have a new character that'll probably have artwork showing up here more often. We'll just see how it all goes I guess.
I hope everyone's December's gone well so far and that the Krumpus didn't stop by for a visit this week. I hope my update wasn't too depressing. I've been having a bit of a struggle with looking on the bright side lately. That blow I suffered recently's hit me pretty hard. On a positive note this week we celebrated Mattie's birthday. So What have you been up to have any fun plans coming up?
Christmas Wishlist.
In the case someone might be interested in giving me something. You'd be guaranteed a huge thank you at the least and possibly even might get something in return.
-Badge of Takeshi or just artwork in general of any of my characters.

Oct-Nov Update Fun,Excitement,Injury, hahaha
Posted 9 years agoHey all, I hope everyone’s doing well. I can definitely say I’ve been better but, I’m hanging in there. As usual I’m a little late with my monthly update. One of these days I’ll be more consistent; hopefully. Now to not delay you any further here’s the update.
October was a really exciting month. I was really inspired artistically. I got a lot done, badges fursuit parts and Takeshi’s bodysuit with a little help from
blasterblurby . Though I still have some adjustments to make to Takeshi’s bodysuit.
Though my bad luck streak seems to still be hanging around. The second week in October I was on my way to get badges printed at the UPS store and what do you know. I had a clash with the handicap curb right infront of the Joanns. While I still got the badges printed off thanks to my mom I ended up having to ride up to the clinic.
With what I had thought at the time was a normal everyday sprained ankle on my mind I did as I was told, resting it, icing it and keeping it in the brace. As much as I detest ice I did as told wanting my ankle to be better by the end of the month.
We had our annual trip down to Myrtle Beach planned for the week of Halloween this year and I really wanted to be able to enjoy it.
Unfortunately as the month progressed I lost my ability to put any weight on it and we switched to a boot.
Finally the trip came as I finished sewing my bodysuit we took off for the beach. There seemed to still be quite a bit of damage from Mathew still around; we had to take a detour to Bennettsville. Then when we stopped to fill up we were faced with a little surprise. Somehow a tire valve had found it’s way into our gas tank. Luckily there was a good man at a O’Reilly’s just up the road. We felt like a guardian angel was looking out for us especially as we were getting into MB. In Aynor there was a wreck that had a traffic jam so lined back that we would of ran out of gas if we hadn’t of gotten our gas tank taken care of.
Once in MB everything went pretty smooth. We were greeted by the wonderful staff of the Dayton House and we just had a nice time enjoying the room, the pools and the walk down to the boardwalk. Though my ankle wasn’t as thrilled by the walk the boot made it where I could make it the 8 blocks down and back just fine. Mattie really loved it too. Especially when she got her treat of icecream at Abraham’s Gyros.
Though the real fun began Halloween. After breakfast I got suited up and walked down to the arcade and I had quite a few admirers. This was my first time fursuiting in public and I was enjoying it. I won’t lie the eight blocks down wasn’t easy in that 80 degree weather with no fans but, the breeze was AMAZING! I could feel it through my bodysuit through my mask. When ever I’d hit a section where the wind was blocked it was just more motivating to get back to the cool air. By the time I got down to the boardwalk I was having nothing but, positive experiences when I encountered my first group of people they wanted pictures. Then over across the street at Ripley’s Haunted House one of the workers put at fist in the air and cheered me on shouting ‘dude!’ I couldn’t help but, chuckle. The people at the shops I passed were pretty happy with my presence and the owner of the arcade was ecstatic to see me. Spending a short time there we made the walk back down to the Dayton wanting to give me some time to cool down before we headed over to Broadway at the Beach. With a headless break and a few water breaks we made the walk back and up to the room. Unfortunately I lost a pad along the way. Hopefully it went to someone that’ll appreciate it. Glad I kept my pattern.
Once we got to broadway it started out great with a little kid waving at me and one came over and gave me a high five before going and telling his parents about it. Eating at the Hard Rock Cafe we soon left out and I ran into the first fursuiters I’d ever seen in MB outside of photos. Hmm wonder if the photos we took together are floating around somewhere…
Walking through broadway I was quite a hit with people of all ages. This one little group I stopped for this little boy was scared of me at first though his sister wasn’t shy of me at all. She asked me ‘Are you a real fox all the time?’
Trying to get the little boy to warm up to me I acted scared and kept putting my hand out to him. Finally he came close while we didn’t get to a hug or a high five he did put a jelly bean in my paw. That and my reaction really made his mom laugh and take a photo.
Then there was also this group that really loved me first a lady sat down with me and took a photo then the rest of their group cycled in for photo. Then she came back for a last photo taking my hand in hers. One little surprise I got. I don’t know if I accidentally said yes or if they just wanted to give it to me but, they gave me some money. They wouldn’t take it back either. I still am just shocked by that. I ended up donating the money to the Relay for life later on.
Now to tell the highlight of my night before I make this too long. There was this little boy dressed as Captain America about four years old that loved me. He gave me high fives, we hugged and took a picture together then as I was getting up I fell over thanks to my ankle and can you believe what he did. He came over and helped me up! That was definitely my favorite moment of the night. I feel good to think I made a kid really feel like Captain America and have something to tell his friends and family about. I wish so badly that my mom could of gotten a picture. That night was fantastic. I can’t wait to go suiting again.
The rest of the trip went great too. While I had to take it easy thanks to my ever growing sorer ankle it was all worth it and just enjoyable. We got Mattie groomed and found a nice pet shop as well to get her some food. We also stopped and looked at some apartment complexes we’d researched.
One thing I’m particularly excited about is we stopped by a hobby shop and they had what I needed to complete Ernest’s mechanics. Soon I’ll have a walking, talking, blinking marionette.
On the way back home we finally stopped in Bennettsville at this farm we could see from the highway and it was well worth it. We were greeted by some nice people and some nice fresh fruits and vegetables and the best Pepsi I’d ever had. Next year I think I’m going to try and get permission to fursuit at the least I think I want to do the giant slide they have.
Back home I lost my voice as usual and went for my Duke appointment mute.
Starting November off moving slow I was prescribed a medicine to prevent my migraines that’s left me so sleepy. I think we’re going to end up doing botox next month and I can’t lie I’m nervous about it but, if it works it will help cut down on the drugs I have to take. Though I’ll do what I have to to reduce my migraines.
We also some time in there went to my Orthopedic doctor. We’re getting a MRI to find out what’s wrong and what we need to do to insure a speedy recovery. Though the doc suspects it’s either a high ankle sprain if not a tendon or ligament issue.
I was happy to once again be able to go to the Thanksgiving Feast Furmeet again this year. I really need to go to more meets in the future. It was fun fursuiting and chatting with friends and meeting new people. The food was great too. I’m really glad a rough morning for me turned into a awesome day.
So far that’s the highlight of my month. That and the arrival of my mannequin head that for some reason took a month to get here instead of 3 day shipping. Now I’m wondering when the MRI will happen. Tomorrow we’re going to call the orthopedic again to see if there’s something we can do in the mean time since my ankle just keeps getting worse.
Meanwhile I’m trying to get myself together so I can salvage my nanowrimo project, and inspiration/focus to work on artwork and finish some commissions.
How's everyone's month gone so far? Hope my fellow Americans have a happy thanksgiving.
September Update
Posted 9 years agoHey all, I hope everyone’s been having a good month. Mine’s been as good as can be expected I suppose. As usual fall is being a nightmare for me allergy wise. Though so far September has still been good to me in some ways. Thanks to my migraine meds I haven’t at least to this point experienced as severe of migraines as I’ve been known to; still moving at least to a point.
After doing a little research we found that low iron had seemed to of partially causing my depression and a lot of other issues so hopefully it’ll be up soon. I also tried this amino acid from Swanson that was mentioned by some youtubers I’ve been a long time fan of and that’s really helped! Within the first week of taking it my annual evening headaches ceased and my mood and energy just improved big time. I felt like my old self again possibly even better.
When I told one of my doctors at my appointment at Duke he was glad to hear it was working and wanting me to keep him posted. While I don’t think it’ll take care of my migraines; I do think it’ll at least help me in other areas. One thing I am a bit nervous about however is the next step my doctors want to take with treating my migraines. While the new treatment they want to try will only be like a twice a year thing it still makes me nervous.
As for my allergy doctor appointment I had this past week things went well just some slight alterations and a inhaler to help with some of my symptoms I get from my allergen.
On a non health related note. Earlier this month I got to go see Never Ending Story at Fathom’s anniversary showing and that was great. Loved the bit from the documentary they showed before. So much work went into that movie. It was just beautiful to look at too. It was nice to finally see a movie I used to only catch on vacation on the big screen.
A week later we met up with
BlasterBlurby for a fun evening of catching up and then seeing Labyrinth’s anniversary showing. That was fantastic too. I loved every moment of the movie I can’t believe it took me so long to see it. It just kept me laughing and was just a great experience with so many fantastic puppets. I’m still finding myself wondering about some of the effects. I’m also kinda tempted to see about taking a trip to the Museum of Puppetry Arts in the near future so I might can see them and other Henson creations. Not to mention one of the horse puppets from the theatre production of War Horse.
Art wise things have been going well as well I’ve been working on badges and some personal work. Takeshi’s bodysuit is further along I’m almost ready to move onto fur. I’m hoping to get it done really soon I’d like to be able to have it done by my next outing hopefully if things go well it will be.
Also been working on a partial I’m hoping to put up for sale early next month. The paws and tail are done just have to wait to get the remaining supplies and it’ll be done. If you’d like to follow the build on that you can follow me on my twitter or instagram username’s the same.
I’m still open for badge commissions right now with some fun new ideas for the Halloween season involved.
Most badges starts at $8.00USD

July-August Update
Posted 9 years agoHey all this journal's probably going to be a little short. Though I thought a short one's better than none. Given this is overdue as it is.
My July had a good mix of highs and lows. Some good things some bad. Just in case you didn't notice by my more recent submissions. I didn't win
Temperance's contest. Though I didn't really mind. I created a lot of designs I'm proud of and I have plans for a good chunk of the characters. Especially the ones that I enjoyed designing the most.
As for actual July like I said it had it's ups and downs. At the start of the month I was doing pretty good working on artwork, writing a little for Camp NaNoWriMo, going to the YMCA a lot and just trying to get in the right frame of mind and just be more positive while getting in better shape.
One really awesome thing that happened to me during the month was I got to go to a furmeet in Charlotte. That was a blast it felt really good to hang out with friends and make new ones. The surprise of
Eddiebear and
Gamma.Wolf arriving just making it better.
Though the heat that day was rough. During that time we were for the most part without AC in the truck. Getting there wasn't so bad though as the day heated up the ride home was pretty rough. Grabbing a icebag at the gas station it helped keep Mattie cool for most of the ride. A pitstop at KFC really helping the journey as well. We eventually got home safe and with an exception of a checkup at the doctors office we didn't really leave the house till the temperatures cooled down again.
Early this month we got the compressor we needed and then found out we needed another part. Though even though I had to sacrifice going to this month's Queen City furbowl or risk some more expensive damage to the truck. We got the part now though I don't know if it's been installed yet so hopefully that'll be the end of vehicle troubles for a while.
I wish the good mood I was in from the meet would of lasted longer. Toward the end of the month I started feeling a bit depressed as well as dealing with a migraine. (I'm sure the doctor's visit had something to do with this one I wasn't aloud to take anything for my head for a couple weeks)
At the start of August it's all stuck around though some new lightbulbs have helped me a bit at least up till this week. I was getting in a better mood and getting quite a bit of work done. I'm nearly done with a commission and have gotten a little further with Takeshi's bodysuit. Now I'm actually feeling like I'm going to be finishing it any week now. Just have to try and get over this migraine and the depressed mood that's come with it. Though I'm pushing myself to try and at least get a little bit done when I'm able. Even if it means going and working in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.
I hope everyone else is doing well. How's your month gone? Anything happen that put you in a good mood this week?

A small June update
Posted 9 years agoHey all hope AC went well for those of you that went and I hope everyone had a nice June. Sorry I haven't been posting much. June was a pretty busy month for me. I was trying to get in the right headspace and get a bunch of artwork done.
Due to the migraines I had over the past couple months I was on a real time crunch for
Temperance 's fursuit design contest. I had to cram in about 4 months of work into a May and June and while I didn't get them all done i did get a good chunk and my main groups's refs completed by the first.
During that time I also started working out at the YMCA recently. I'm really hoping that it'll help me be more positive, have more energy, be more creative and just feel better. Maybe even allow me to fursuit legitimately longer. So far it's been nice I've got some goals set and while none of them are really weight-loss geared I'm feeling good about reaching them. Best of all though is it gets me out of the house and away from the most negative person I know.
Thank you to those that commissioned me back in May you really helped keep food around the house. Now that it's July finances are getting better though money is going to be tight a bit longer. So after I finish up the commission I have I'll be opening up again possibly for something I can get done quick like badges. I'm also planning to try and get my 'workroom' in order and get some props and things done and up for sale.
One positive I really enjoyed about June that really helped me was I had the pleasure of seeing 'The Conjuring 2' in theaters. Great movie if you haven't seen it yet. It's very suspenseful and the effects were fantastic. I've been wanting to see it again. Partly just for one scene I especially loved in it though I'm not going to spoil it. Though I highly recommend seeing it especially if you like supernatural horror.
I hope everyone had a great 4th whether you celebrate independence day or not. For me it was a very relaxed day. I didn't do much more than write and work on artwork.
July being Camp Nanowrimo it's been a nice excuse to get a comic I have planned written out. Its been great for nights where I can't sleep but, can't function well enough to draw.
It proved to be a nice distracted on a long car ride the other day. We had to get up early and ride to Duke. We were checking in on how well the new migraine medicine's working and deciding on changes that need to be changed. One thing I'm really happy about though is the doctor I had to see instead of my usual one in the pain clinic gave me a scale I could work with for judging my migraines instead of the actual number scale. Anyone that's had to use these for a headache diary's bound to know my frustrations. I've never been good at sticking to them because they never made since though this is one that I think I'll be able to keep up with at least till my next appointment.
Now we're pretty much all caught up for how I hope everyone's doing well would love to hear what you've been up to.

Birthday and other stuff Update Anthrocon A No Go
Posted 9 years agoHey all. I thought it's about time for me to give a update.
After we got out of the Boardwalk we all improved though I sounded like Harvey Fierstein for the remainder of our trip. Still coughing a bit though overall I was doing legitimately better. Luckily after we got into the Dayton there wasn't much else we had to spend money on.
Since we got home finances have been tight and the high mold count in the environment has kept me on the miserable side. Though I'm doing ok outside of feeling a little sick and drained.
Going to a Charlotte meet after we got back home was great though. I had a blast chatting and fursuiting. I hadn't had that much fun since FWA. I really surprised myself with how long I suited. My heat tolerance is definitely getting a whole lot better. Thankfully allergies didn't seem to bother me all that much in the park and I didn't lose my voice till the next day.
Right now we've filed a dispute with Boardwalk to try and get a full refund. Unfortunately due to how tight the incident with the Boardwalk made things financially we had to cancel any chance we had for going to AC this year. Its a bummer especially since I'm a huge fan of the theme but, we'll definitely try for next year. We'll probably be better equipped by then anyways.
This coming week we're planning to get me a appointment with my allergy doctor to see what damage was done and see what we can do since my medicine seems to not be working as well as it was. Even before we went to Myrtle I had to say bye-bye milk for breakfast. *sigh*
On a more positive note. I've been working on Takeshi's new bodysuit. Still got a ways but, I'm hoping to have it done soon. I've also decided to try and take steps toward getting in better shape. I'm planning to start take Mattie to the park more. Hopefully a cheap fitness training respirator I've ordered will help with that. I'm also hoping to start taking some dance classes and see if I can suit during them.
As for my marionette. He's closer to done but, still quite a ways from done. Has anyone else been having trouble with Amazon orders? I ordered some brass tubing back in April and still haven't received it. A birthday present my mom got me hasn't arrived either and the suspense is killing me!
Oh that reminds me I got the coolest airbrushed hat for my birthday while I was in Myrtle. It has Takeshi on it and I've been wearing it almost every day.
Commissions are still open.
How's everyone doing? Anything interesting happen to you lately?

Emergency!Commissions Open
Posted 9 years agoI honest to goodness had never intended to wind up in a position where I'd have to take on commissions this way but, we're in a little trouble.
We came down to Myrtle for my Birthday and our usual place was booked solid so we had to stay at a different place. So we decided to give the Boardwalk Resort a try. HUGE mistake! I almost wound up in the ER because of that place. They put us in a smoking room. The place was full of mold. Our refrigerator had black mold on the seal. They didn't clean their pool. I was coughing so badly I threw up all night last night because of the mold.
So we checked out though the rude staff at the desk wouldn't refund our money in the way we needed it so we had to pay for our new place with what money we had. Unfortunately that means we are in a horrible position right now for the rest of the month after we get home.
Please signal boost.

For a limited time you can get Flat Color headshots for $6.00s instead of $8.00

April Update My b-day's coming
Posted 9 years agoHey all, looks like about time for another update. I hope everyone's doing great.
Personally I could be doing better a migraine having had been plaguing me for a while now. Back at the end of March I went to Duke for my annual check up and for the most part things came out great. When I went to my doc that helps me treat my migraines I was faced with some good news. Since it's been a while since he'd adjusted my meds he increased the doses on some preventatives and to my surprise. There seems to of been a lot more drugs that have come out since the last time we tried migraine drugs. So now I'm trying out a new migraine med. While it doesn't quite do what he said it should allowing me to work while it treats the migraine. It instead knocks me off my feet for 2 days but, that's a pretty fair trade off I think considering one of these can keep me bed ridden for a month.
I think April had a pretty nice start with a wonderful time at FWA.
I absolutely am loving my feetpaws I commissioned
LobitaWorks for. I'm also happy to say that thanks to the techniques I learned from
Eddiebear 's panel has helped me get the bottoms clean after a accident had occurred. Now I have a nice cleaning kit to take with me when I go suiting.
I can't help but, wish that Mother Nature'd be a bit kinder to me. I can tell all too well that the allergens are in the air especially back in the woods where I love. Though it's still nice.
I've been struggling with getting work though unfortunately because of allergies and a migraine like I stated above. Unfortunately the new drug isn't dealing with them as well this time around. I'm trying hard to get back into the swing of things though it's feeling like a uphill battle right now.
Though I feel like next month is going to go well. In 12 days it will be my birthday May 8th Mothers Day. It's sure to be a good time. We're planning to go down to Myrtle Beach for our annual little celebration and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe and just have fun.
We're staying a a new motel this time though so I'm not sure what to expect. Though it seems like a nice place. It seems Mothers Day weekend has brought a lot of traffic to the area. I'm looking forward to celebrating what I'm sad to say will be my last birthday at the current Myrtle Beach Hard Rock Cafe location I'll just have to take pictures and make memories.
While we're down there we're also planning to go for a walkthrough of Coastal Carolina University. So far I've been pretty impressed by the school. Their theater program seems like a nice fit having one of the largest costume departments. The degree I'm looking at also being very well rounded. They apparently also have some great connections with the surrounding theaters. I've heard pretty nice things about it as well.
Though one thing in particular that impressed me about the school is when we called back in March the department head of the theater department volunteered to give us the tour if we'd come by in May. That's something I really didn't expect especially since when we called we didn't give any details. We were just calling about making a appointment for after the tour. So that's very cool. Hopefully despite the hiccup I had from migraines with my grades the last semester I was at GTCC won't reflect too badly on me after I explained what happened.
Hopefully I'll have Ernest done in time so I can have him to show off. He's getting closer to done I just need to get the new eyes cast and try to reset them and possibly the mouth. Then it'll be just sanding, minor defects and painting. Here's hoping that all goes smooth so I can show him off to them and my friend at Broadway Magic. I promised him I'd try to get it done in time to bring down this time.
Oh by the way guess who found Ernest a electric guitar! Yep while I was at goodwill I spotted one of those Rock Band guitars. I figure with a little cutting and sanding I'll have a nice little electric guitar for him. Hopefully when I shorten the middle up and possibly the neck a bit it'll look like a semi realistic electric guitar for Ernest the Opossum Marionette.
In other news Takeshi's new bodysuit is still in the works. I'm taking my time wanting to make sure it comes out great rather than rushing through it especially since it's my first bodysuit of any kind unless you count the lycra underbody suit I did for 0.0 version of Takeshi. I'm hoping to get it done in time for Myrtle that way I can get some nice pics of the entire costume together out on the beach.
While I was prepping for FWA I was also able to get a nice wing prototype together for Oracle and I also upcycled a nice jacket into a tailcoat for him. Though he's still got a ways to go and I don't think it'll be very soon before I can purchase the fur for the half suit I want to make for him.
I have quite a bit of art planned to be completed soon some pieces further along than others that I'll hopefully get finished and posted soon. I'll also have quite a few new badge examples up soon.
Thanks for those of you whom I owe art to who have been patient.

Help Fight Cancer. Help save lives. Story time Free Art Op.
Posted 9 years agoHi all, I originally wasn't planning to do this but, something talked me into it. I know you all have probably seen a lot of these journals talking about the same thing though I wanted to tell my story and why I'm doing the Relay For Life this weekend and doing what fundraising I can.
My story, it has a happier ending than most. I was around eight or nine years old when my grandfather was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. At that point I didn't even know what cancer was; it was just this word that was mentioned often on the prayer list that everyone seemed to always get this scared or somber look on their face's anytime it was mentioned.
Though my knowledge on the disease quickly grew and I grew scared for him. He was the closest thing to a father I had and the last thing I wanted to do was lose him. I used to pray every day several times a day I mentioned it at prayer time at church. When he was at home I would often do whatever I could to avoid leaving the room he was in.
Luckily for us cancer research had evolved enough that the good doctors at Wake Forest Medical Center were able to treat it and eventually send it into remission.
To this day my grandfather's cancer is still gone I'll be 22 May 8th 2016 and he is a strong, healthy 83 year old man. If it weren't for the valuable research that events like the Relay for Life raise money for. I wouldn't be able to say that and he never would of gotten to meet his latest grandchildren.
Please if you are able to even if it's just $1.00 please donate. Every little bit helps. You can make a difference and bring more happy endings to people's cancer stories. Maybe even bring a happy ending to your own.

For every donation made I'll do a free headshot like this
Though you really should be doing it because it's the right thing that could save lives.

FWA Recap Post Con report
Posted 9 years agoHey all, we got back from FWA safe and sound and boy did I have a blast. I got to suit so much more than last year. It was so much fun just running around and meeting other suiters and people. Seeing friends and making new ones.
After leaving the house at 2am on Thursday with
Blasterblurby and arriving in a little before dealers den opened. We were a little tired though it wasn't a bad drive and the staff at both the Hilton and the con were very accommodating allowing us to get in and help Blurby set up before getting registered. I was really surprised by how well registration went. It was done WAY faster than last year and best of all my badge didn't get lost in cyberspace like last year.
While I didn't get to nearly as many panels this year as I did last year I had a blast hanging out with friends and I really enjoyed and learned quite a bit from
Eddiebear's panel on Fursuit Cleaning and repair. I highly recommend attending it if your at a con he's hosting it at.
I did end up doing artist alley for a couple hours one day though I can't say I came out that successful.Though I'll keep trying and will hopefully have more available to try and sell next year. None the less I wouldn't say the time was waisted I did get to meet some nice artists and get some advice on doing better there in the future. I'm feeling positive.
I do have some bad news about the Art Show this year though. Since the computer was down when I dropped off my stuff and my business card got buried I never got my artwork entered into the art show. Though I was a bit disappointed I was in a way relieved. The guy at the art gallery was really nice though. He seemed to genuinely feel awful about what happened and he even refunded me for the panel I had bought in pre-reg. and gave me some tips for how I could be successful next year. He also said that he was going to personally make sure that what happened to me didn't happen again.
I have to say that was pretty much the only complaint I would really be able to make as far as the con goes. Most of my complaints weren't really con related. Like the Marriott's elevators scared the crap out of me. It wasn't so much the riding them so much as it was the actual doors. Those things were closing way sooner than they should of and you couldn't really put your hand in and expect the doors to widen back up. One elevator we refer to as the snapping one we dealt with almost closed on Blurby. Then I had one try to close on me as I tried to get out and I was literally the first one to get off that thing. You know there's something wrong with those things when the hotel staff don't even trust them enough to put a arm out while their closing so you can get on.
Then there was also pretty much my first encounter with a drunk a**. A guy that wasn't even a part of the con tried to attack me while in suit. Luckily my mom, Mattie, I and some other furs that arrived around the same time had gotten on the elevator and were able to get away from him. The a** even called the elevator back down and charged us. I don't know who were luckiest us or him. I remember having Mattie behind me and my hand in a fist as he came at us. I was ready to react as was my mom whom was already being a great handler standing between us and him. I sure hope no one else ran into that drunk.
Aside from that one moment though I had a wonderful time. I suited every night we were there and even went into the rave for the first time. I can't express how glad I was to have my new head. I was being so active I know I would of been suffering if I'd of had my old head I had made. There's no way I would of stayed in suit nearly as long as I did or even been as active. I had so much fun I'm still feeling a sort of high from all the fun.
If you come across any pics of me in suit please let me know. I would love to see more pics.
Another thing I feel pretty excited about is I got to meet one of my favorite artists in person.
Twilightsaint Both in and out of suit she was really cool to meet. It was nice to be able to thank her in person for the kind words she had said on FurMedia about my piece I had posted for critique. I'm really looking forward to commissioning her when I get the chance.
I also had the pleasure of meeting
Flinch and seeing her beautiful head in person and hear her plans for the future with her suit.
Overall I had a blast and I'm looking forward to future meets and trips. I'm also looking forward to wearing my bat feet I got to pick up from
LobitaWorks Once I figured out how to walk in them things I wore them pretty much the majority of the con especially once I got in suit. I am strongly considering keeping those a part of Takeshi over the solid white paws I originally planned. I'm so glad they were willing to work me in so I could get them in time.
I'm looking forward to going to FWA next year As am I also looking forward to building Takeshi's new bodysuit now that I have the fur I need.
Also if you are interested in getting that tail or those two pieces I did for the art show feel free to send me a note.

FWA meme
Posted 9 years agoFinally here it is folks my first con meme. Last year i kinda got distracted and never posted it but, this year I wanted to make sure I did. I do not remember who I stole this from though this has been saved on my computer so long.
Where are you staying?
The Hilton just a hamster tunnel away from the con
What day are you getting there?
Early Friday morning
How are you traveling?
Riding
Who will you be rooming with?
:iconBlasterblurby and my mom
How is the best way to find you?
You can tweet me, note me on here, email me. Though I will be hanging around Artist Alley a lot so that could be a good way to find me. Just keep an eye out for either my suit or tail of Takeshi and my golden retriever service dog Mattie.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Definitely Pursuit Cleaning,Repair and Maintenance and panels relating to fursuits in general for the most part
What do you look like?
A auburn haired young woman that almost always wears superhero, movie themed and the occasional furry themed shirts and shorts all the time along with a hat of my character Okto Often wearing either my demon fox's tail or my new tail I got from
beastcub With a golden retriever guide dog almost always by my side.
Will you be suiting?
Yep, big time. Especially since I got my new head of Takeshi I can breathe in. I will probably also be suiting a bit as my bat character Oracle if I can get him done in time.
Do you do free art?
Once in a blue moon
Do you do trades?
Sure though unless it’s a sketch or something I have with me not at con
Do you do badges?
If I’m at a table in Artist Alley maybe though it will be more a pen one or line art. It might not be laminated either. Colored you’d have to wait till after con cause I don't trust my traditional skills all that strongly yet.
What is your gender?
female
How tall are you?
5’6" and that doesn't change much in suit.
Can I talk to you?
Yep, feel free to I love to meet and get to know people.
Can I touch you?
Ask first. That goes for me and my service dog Cause anything beyond a tap on the shoulder without permission is enough to make a bad impression unless we’re already friends. Then with Mattie it could put me in danger if we’re navigating and you distract her so key word is ‘ASK’
Can I visit your room?
Not very likely for a variety of reasons.
Can I buy you a drink?
I don’t drink alcohol but, a Coke Cola, mango smoothie or some thing else I’d like definitely though I’d prefer it be ordered in front of me or my mom or be in a sealed can. Nothing against you I’m just cautious.
Do you accept gifts?
Definitely. I love to give and receive gifts. It’s always a fun surprise
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Ask first.
Are you nice?
Yes, at least that’s what I’ve been told. My friends and I think I am. If I give off an impression other than nice feel free to let me know though I may be suffering from a low bp at the time and need to get salt in a hurry.
Do you have an artist table?
I might try to snag a spot in Artist Alley I have done quite a bit of prep for it but, still no promises I will have some pieces in the art show though
Will you be going to parties?
Maybe. There’s a lot of factors to consider there.
Will you be performing?
Definitely. I’m planning to get in suit and do a lot more this year. Though anything on stage is not happening this year. My marionette's not ready and I'm not confident enough to do anything else.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Call me by my name Lindsay, or even VJ or Takeshi. If in suit Takeshi or Taki unless I’m in Oracle. Tapping me on the shoulder or saying hi is good too. Keep in mind even out of suit I may not see you.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Artist Alley, wandering around, in panels, suiting. A lot of that will be played by ear
What/where will you be eating?
Most likely chickfil-a, Kahunas (They have the best fries no joke! and they’re barely a block away.) I’m also hoping to eat at least one time at the Hard Rock Cafe (if not eat get that pin FWA advertised on twitter earlier. I’m curious about it’s theme)
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Ask first. If your a friend the answer will very likely be yes I’d love to have some friends along. I would love to eat with friends it’s way more fun than eating alone.
Can I look in your sketchbook?
Maybe. It depends. Though it’s kinda a look at your own risk thing.I don't always put the effort into having a censored sketchbook
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Maybe, maybe not it depends.
Can I take your picture?
If in suit definitely! Please give me the link! I want to see and share with my buddies. Out of suit it’s a maybe though.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year? Make friends, hang out with friends, have fun, do artist alley and suit more often.

Good News! Computer update
Posted 9 years agoGood news guys. I am so excited to say this. After I told them about how many times I've brought my computer in and how many problems I've had Apple decided to honor my warranty. I now have a brand new Macbook. It's not just new either it's the latest. Retina display, light weight. I made the guy laugh when I was raving about how thin it was. It doesn't hurt my wrists anymore to pick it up either. Sure it no longer has a disk drive built in but, I'm okay with that. My disk drive only worked twice in the time I had my computer anyways.
Anywho artwork is on it's way back on track all I have to do now is download photoshop and illustrator and I'll be able to get back to work.
This couldn't of worked out better. I have so many things in prep right now for FWA that my computer being shipped off would of totally set it back to the point where I would of only had one piece ready for the Art Show. Instead though I am right on schedule and with the speed this thing moves I might even get everything digital wise done faster than the traditional stuff I still have to do. I am feeling really excited right now.
Now how is everyone else doing? Did you have a good day?

The luck of the Irish is doing nothing for me Computer dead
Posted 9 years agoHappy Saint Patrick's day everyone. I hope everyone's having a luckier day than I am having. Woke up this morning to my computer not turning on again. Among other bad luck. Heaven help me.
I've got a appointment with Apple tomorrow so hopefully I'll either get a new computer or the thing back quickly.
