First things first; if you're interested in finding me at either of these convention, but have never met/seen me before, you're looking for a short, fat, fussy female with an unfortunate acne problem.

Califur Stuff:

Ok, as I mentioned at the beginning of the month, I'm going to be at Califur VI.

I will have a no-frills Dealers Table (I might have some little sign on the table saying who I am...I'm really not sure what the layout or setup for Dealers in Califur is). I'm not looking like I'll have any merchandise ready (was hoping maybe some stickers), but I'll be doing sketchbook (or loose leaf if you prefer) commissions. If I remember to bring supplies/have time, I might even be offering coloured badges for $25 or so. If I really really have free time I might even offer coloured sketchbook commissions, but we'll see.

My badge will likely read V.Kyrie/K.V1NN4 and I'll also be wearing this little number somewhere on my person. I should probably have made something a bit bigger than business card sized for myself... live and learn.

This is pretty much my first time in California where I'll be staying for more than a frantic hour (running from one terminal tot he next trying not to miss a connecting flight), and also the first time I've had my own table, so this should be an adventure time.

If you can't find me because I'm doing my excellent impersonation of an octopus blending desperately and embarrassedly into the background,  kelmar will be the very pale goth wandering around, you can't miss him, and he should be able to point me out.

Anthrocon Stuff:

...Oh snap.
Well, seems I'm going to Anthrocon. I BELIEVE my badge will simply read K.V1NN4 and I'll again be wearing above mentioned cow-identification.

This will be my first Anthrocon without The Jab Archives/a dealers table since 2003, so it's a bit scary. I MIGHT sit in with  missmab (C21) on Saturday if there's room but chances are I will be sitting in Artists Alley throughout the whole thing IF I'm lucky enough to get a spot all 3 days. Will definitely be offering the usual sketchbook/looseleaf commissions, but if I find myself with extra time I'll be offering badges and colours at this convention too.

Again, if you have trouble finding me, keep an eye out for  kelmar or A-Really-Tall-Bald-Canadian and there's a good chance they'll know where I'm hiding (whether they divulge this information is up to them.: X). And if has anything to say about it, I'll probably be hiding in the Zoo. x.x;

Oof... drawing the comic has been rough lately. Not sure what happened, after my buffer I seemed to have fallen off the art wagon and keeping up has just been difficult, granted, i THINK I'm starting to get my speed up again...

BUT.

The ACTUAL point of this journal is:

My mom is coming to visit soon to verify I am alive and not being held against my will... Well, that and I don't think she's ever been to America before. And she misses me. And I should ask her if she can bring up my 'How to Draw' books. *tries to remember if she left the 'how to draw romance' book on the same shelf*. -.-;
I get to see my mom again and get some of the stuff I left behind back... Yay?

So... I'm going to try and spend next week finishing the commissions I owe, and then open up for a few new commissions once I'm done with the first batch because I have a feeling I'll need to rent a car and somehow make up for the days my husband will have to take off work to drive us around (not too many days, 2-3 tops, but still, it's a big dent in the paycheque).
My husband and I share 1 vehicle with his parents, and they tend to not like sharing it on weekends, and i hvae no drivers license, which is why it is so difficult for me to get to the post office.

This'll be the first time I've seen my mom in 3 years and I'm pretty sure she's going to be incredibly disappointed in what she see's but at the very least I hope I can take her to some nice touristy places and a few places for dinner, and I'll finally be able to return her sandals.

Sssssunuvabitch I managed to escape Anthrocon's cesspool of viruses and bacteria (a lot of my friends got hit really hard) and somehow, SOMEHOW, MFM manages to kick me in the tail.

All things considered: I just have a scratchy throat and watery eyes and a fuzzly headache which is making it hard for me to focus, but it's definitely not the worse concrud I've had or heard about... yet. I'm hoping that if I'm good and get plenty of rest it'll be over by this weekend (cos dangit... I have a game to run) and not get any worse. I hate to think how nasty it'll have to be to top what my nephew gave me (now that I think about it, my sister in law's been fluey all week so maybe... just maybe... my in-laws are making me sick. Gee whizz. Whoda thunk.)

SO, Thursday I barely got any sleep due to pre-flight nerves, but I woke up with plenty of time and despite a weird delay due to... I'm not sure anymore, I got to the airport in plenty of time and my flights were smooth (aside from that "we're landing no wait now we're not" moment that weirded me out a bit). I stocked up on candy in Dallas Fort-Worth... I still have quite a bit left over. I remember when I would've decimated all that in a day... now I'll probably still have some of it left around New Years.

 cheetahjab arrived first, then me, and finally  bussaca , we ditched our stuff in our room (...I think I saw mould on the bathroom mirror) and went food hunting.

Anyway, I'm a huge sushi fan and there is a gratuitous LACK of it in Texas (espcecially compared to where I used to live), but if you ever find a restaurant called Do sushi (I think?) in Memphis... um... it's fancy... it.... it was fancy. And way overpriced, even for nice sushi... I liked the restaurant and the ambience and all that and it really was a cute little place but... expensive... Yeah. Unless you're really into nice presentation and stuff... yeah... don't go.
It cleaned out our food budget for the whole weekend. Yeah. Not going there again...

But y'know other than that...: D
We set up the display for TJA productions later that evening (and by We i mean mostly Bu and Cheetah cos I had no idea what I was doing aside form being annoying). Still, the displays looked cool; and it's really weird seeing your art/characters blown up to life size, I tell ya.

And then Friday rolls about, it's a bit of a blur but I recall drawing a bunch and pizza. I think I hid from a camera a bunch too. Eh-heh. In my defense I didn't wanna break the thing.
We were sitting right next to  rabbi-tom who had a new awesome t-shirt design which made me giggle a bunch (the What me, furry? t-shirt if you're curious). Hopefully finances will be better sooner than later cos I know exactly who I'd get that for..... Though y'know, I haven't picked up a Mad magazine in YEARS... do they even have that mascot anymore? I don't see them doing away with him...

Saturday.... oh God Saturday. I made the horrible mistake of attempting to have 3 square meals. I had some left overs for breakfast, then I had the hotel-offered meal for lunch (so not worth it) and then we topped off the evening with Olive Garden and by criminy i felt so friggen blarfed for it. .o Still... was good dinner. I took much longer than I planned with a sketchbook trade with  dutch ;I really have no idea what was up I know I can usually ink a bit faster than that at a con. Just as well I only got a bakers dozen of sketchbooks to do the whole weekend.

Sunday was a weirdly slow day; I had one leftover commission and then that was it, I worked on my comic a little and a CnC non-canon sketch most the rest of the day... had way too much fun with it...I should share it some time. Then we went to Buffalos and that was a blast; Trivia pwnage 3 games in a row, yup!: B
Damn you Scott - whoever you were though, you were a worthy opponent. *shakes fist*

And finally, Monday, found a NICE n CHEAP sushi buffet thanks to some Florida furs, so I definitely left the convention happy. And aside from one flub at the airport when the stewardess gave us the wrong gate for the connecting flight, the trip went smooth and my hubby and I had a long cuddle (he even pulled up to the right terminal this time.: 3)
Even Icarus was happy to see me (but then Sable's been a lot lazier lately so he was probably just bored).

And today, crud has knocked me on my bottom. But like most illnesses I'm being stubborn and stuff and oh look antibiotics for something I had 7 months ago these are still good right? Right?

MOVING ON: So, MFM is moving to a new location next year. TJA Productions is registered and I'm certainly rearin' to go. The place looks and sounds really nice and I almost feel bad that I intend to remain behind the dealers table the whole time (as per usual) - but I think I'm getting the hang of MFM and I really did have fun this year - but I'm not gunna miss the hotel it was in. So yeah, next year, I admit, I'm enthused. I'll try to rope it in - pessimism usually ensures I end up having more fun than I think I will. Still, first things first, FWA is coming up in March, and I'm hoping to have at least 2 new products by then... so I really need to get cracking. (A new Tois portfolio focussing more on Copper and less on parody, and a new CnC portfolio with more substance than the last one).

Time to go suck on some lemons and get productive....

So yup, that's the report and the news and stuff... and now... um... I'll go... try to work on stuff before maybe getting an early night. (What me, disciplined?)...

Good griefy beefy I am TIRED, but I had a good and hiccupless trip, my flights even landed early.

So yup, TJA Productions is right by the door this year and they have a display and everything which I think looks pretty awesome.

But yeah, I'm fairly psyched up about the con... I even has a sammich, and I fully intend to enjoy it for breakfast (and..lunch since its pretty big)... and yeah, I think I might be ready to sketch in books n stuff. My throat is a little scratchy but I'm suuuure that won't develop into anything........

...Still working on them, just got it into my head to try and create a buffer for my webcomic which has proven to be a stressful and time consuming challenge, but one I'm persisting with cos dangit i usually quit on stuff way too easily.

Okay, let's play by play a little shall we? (i'm still a little blarghed because the cat did her best to keep me awake all night, so if I miss anyone, I'm sowwy :<)

Thursday I wake up late and all jittery because I'm terrified I'll miss my flight (thankfully i was already fully packed) - needless to say i got to the airport and on to my plane without any other trouble aside from being thirsty. Did my usual sprint to the next terminal upon arriving in DFW and got onto my next flight with plenty of time - and then I landed in New York and everything fell apart. o.<

First, my flight was delayed due to weather. Then it was cancelled, due to weather. Then the next flight I was put on was delayed.... and then cancelled.... due to Maintenance. With no other flights to Pittsburgh available until MONDAY, I stand in line for close to an hour and I get shuffled onto a flight to Washington, where I was on Standby for 3 flights to Pittsburgh.

Upon landing, I run straight to the terminal of the 1st flight I have a standby on... and hooray, once the gate opens, it's looking good, in an hour the flight will start boarding and I have a good shot of getting a seat.

4 hours later, they cancel that flight due to maintenance.

And I have apparently missed the other 2 flights for that day. SO... I stand in line for another hour or so, hoping to catch a 6am on Friday flight people have been buzzing about.

By the time I get to the counter, that one has been filled up. There is a 1pm flight however which I grab. In theory, I would've gotten to Pittsburgh around 3ish, had it been a direct flight.
An overnight stay in Washington and a puddle jumper to Philadelphia later....Needless to say I didn't arrive in Pittsburgh until about 5pm, tired, sore and sore and tired. -.-

Mind you, at this point I'm just damned happy to have finally arrived (missing a full day of sales however, will continue to haunt me). Oh yeah, and my luggage got a little lost.

I meet up with my friends at the zoo, then once i've dropped off my stuff int he room, receive my BRAND NEW AWESOME SHOES I had to leave at CHeetah's place when i was there last (never, ever try to travel with $1 neon green rubber sandals, ever), I go and have an awesome dinner at a little place called Milano's (I think) with Cheetah and Tikiman, return to the hotel and finally my luggage has arrived, and finally I pass out after briefly interacting with the delightful Orangy and Volk. Bu snored the night away but a quick application of pillow over (my) head later and I was off in the land of Z's.

Saturday was a good busy day, I got a decent pile of sketchbooks going, had to turn away some folks cos of it, met some CnC fans which was nice, granted I was informed a few from Friday never reappeared, so I guess they were only there for Friday.

But it was good to meet who I did, thanks for coming over and saying Hi. : )

Saturday was the relatively new tradition of getting together at a certain restaurant and I need to remember not to order what I ordered last time... it was GOOD but as a leftover for breakfast it didn't really hold up too good.... went with Cheetah, Tikiman, Mab, Tailsteak and a Biblical river.
Good times were had by most. Dessert was pretty darned good. Did a sketchbook trade with an artist i really admire and it still blows my mind that he wanted to trade skethbooks (i'm not worthyyyy, seriously, I'm not! One day I will be good enough to really deserve such an honour. :X).

Sunday- Sunday is traditionally a day when ppl go and connect with Jesus a little. My attempt at doing so got me killed. More on this in a bit.
So the day was fairly full, I started accepting take-home commissions to try and make up for the loss of Friday (so much for having a lighter backpack on the home trip), I still had far too much left over from Saturday and I will have to be more careful of this next time.
I am somewhat pissed of at Sushi-kim (or whatever the name of the restaurant was) because their door says they close at 9pm on Sunday, so to show up at 7.44pm and be told a party of 3 can't be seated because they're 'closing soon' sounds pretty bullshitty to me - I'm sure they probably had a good reason though; still... I really like sushi. :<
I broke Mao's brain a little with a terrible picture idea for his sketchbook involving his character and Amelia Bedelia - I am very sorry about this, and rest assured, it even hurt my brain a little. I drew soemthing I hope he feels is much nicer.

And then Paranoia happened - Missmab's first time Game-mastering went really well and i wish i could've paid a little more attention as I played but I was trying to get a commission done x.x... all the same, i had a darned good time, until I let Jesus kill me.
Basically a group of people came by and one was dressed as Jesus, and he had a glow-stick... and the "Oooh shiney!" part of my brain kicked in and the glow-stick was thrown to me and I gleefully caught it. At which point I realised it was green, and since my character in Paranoia was only Red Clearance, I found myself in possession of a treasonous object. I proceeded to drop the glowstick like it burned me and proceeded to be too damned amused that I could barely laugh at the stupidity of the whole thing (if I hadn't realised it then and there, the other players or Mab would have a few seconds later, and my character would have been condemned anyway).
Suffice to say, my character lost a life and a few minutes later her clone appeared to continue.... it's a bit confusing but trust me it amused everyone who was there (...except the group+Jesus who had been passing by who had no idea why everyone was laughing).

ANYWAY, come Monday, I bid Cheetah fair well twice (once through a closed door due to bad timing), and a bit later Mab and Tikiman do their best to get some sushi in me. *thumbs up*
And then I proceed to rush to the airport just to be extra sure I don't miss my flight. Halfway there I realise I've left my DS, DS charger, and cellphone charger in Mab's room. I feel kindda dumb for doing that, but at least I know my stuff is with friends.

So overall, I had a good time.Now it's back to the wifely grind and once my brain realigns I will get on to the take-home commissions (not to mention the commissions I owe before those ones).

Oh yes, and my husband was naughty and picked up the copy of the Ghostbuster game we had reserved as a surprise for me upon getting home. Now I just need to figure out when i'll have time to play it.

Yup... I think I covered everything.

In closing: My new shoes rock, and it was great hanging out with all my friends in person. : 3

Now to prepare for MFM...

As nice as the bed in the hotel they put me in while I was stuck in Washington was, I would rather have been at Anthrocon that Friday. (Admittedly, seeing more of the country was quite nice in it's own way, although I didn't expect New York to scare me at 3000 feet). My flight that should've only had 2 connections and had me arrive on Thrusday turned into a flight with about 5 connections. Mind you I wasn't the only one affected by the airline hiccups that Thursday and I'm definitely not the worst off. Still kind of annoyed by it though.

Because of the missed day I did end up with take home commissions. I'm taking a few days breather, then getting my comic done for this weekend and then I'll double check who I still owe art to (those whom I haven't heard from this month, um, please try to?)...

Eitherway I'm going to try and get commissions out of the way sooner than later (this time....)

Anyway, I DID finally get to the convention and it was good seeing those of you who came up to say hello (thanks!), and overall I had fun.

I may expand on that later (Missmab's Paranoia game is definitely a highlight), but right now the bed very much beckons me to it's sweet lumpy back ache inducing embrace, and I'm too tired to resists, so, off I go.

(Incidentally my flight back home was flawless... wish I'd gotten the name of the fur behind me who loaned me some comics to read though... and that I hadn't rushed off because I really needed to use the facilities when I landed. @.@)

And.. I know I had a bunch of 'take home' commissions last year..... er...

So, those whom I owe 'take home' commissions to, please let me know (here on this journal or in a note...eh-heh) what they were and if they had sketchbooks or were on lose paper, especially if you are going to be at Anthrocon to pick them up.... I swear, this year... no take-homes... with a handful of exceptions.

Anyway, at the very least, if I've not started by the time you track me down, you get to go to the top of my list/priority no matter what I have in front of me or how big the pile might be.....

Ok, as a couple of y'all noted, I have Bell's Palsy. So far it hasn't gotten worse, and the medication was expensive as hell (over $300 for a week of pills? I went with the cheaper option but hopefully they'll work as well).

And unfortunately, colouring with one eye (I have an eyepatch, yarr) was harder than I thought it would be, so no Sari portfolio at FWA, BUT there will be prints from it. And now I can put a little extra offort into it and make it look extra pretty. I will also try and get 3-4 weeks of comics done so I can sort of make up for the lack of proper updates and stuff involving the webcomic lately. I know it's kind of lame but it's better then nothing.. AND I'm gunna be starting on the Nymphalien portfolio too, since ppl seemed interested in it.

So yeah... I had planned to relax a bit this weekend but somehow I ended up giving myself MORE work.

Firstly, thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes - I really appreciated it and wish I had responded sooner.

Secondly, huge apologies to everyone who was hoping to see me at FWA. I registered ages ago, paid for my tickets, I was pretty much packed...

But right now, the left half of my face doesn't work. Don't think it's a stroke, but my hubby is taking a half day to see if he can't get me to a doctor. This started yesterday and I didn't realise it was so bad (I mean, i was having trouble drinking but I jsut thoguht I was tired) but then I realised my left eye wasn't blinking this morning and that set off some new 'Oh what the shit?' alarms so... I'm gunna have to be selfish and step back and worry about my health for once.... this is gunna be very painful financially, but I'll figure something out.

Meanwhile, the Sarina portfolio SHOULD show up at FWA, so please feel free to pick that up if you like her, and help support CnC (and therefore, TJA and myself). Say hi to Cheetah and have yourselves a good time.

So far he cycles between Demos (Naruto, Deadspace, 1942, Haze, Battlefield, Lord of the Rings, Megaman 9... and so on), as for full games he goes between Ratchet and Clank Future, Assassin's Creed and Metal Gear Solid 4 (he's playing this as I type, 2nd playthrough so he's unlocked a lot of nifty things).

Tomorrow if I meet some art goals I'll commandeer the system and play some Virtua Fighter 5; so you can tune in then (sometime around sunset or later) to watch me get my tail handed to me by either the AI or my husband (but at least the fighters look fairly pretty).
