Just Fuck.

The bad kind of Fuck.

There was once a happy time in my life when seeing great artwork inspired me to try. Now it just makes me depressed. I can't take this horrible emotion that I feel when I try and fail over and over, while people around me just get better and better.

I'm not saying I'm giving up entirely, but only because that would make me a liar. I know I'll still doodle and scribble here and there, but I'm done trying.

It rained last night almost at midnight. First I've seen in 5 months! Fantastic birthday present~

I wrote this as a method of meditation. I can't figure out anywhere else to put it, so I'm putting it here.



I don't know if being in the military is my forte. I don't know if anything will ever be really. The price of being gifted with the ability to do just about anything is the absence of satisfaction you get from doing those things. There's very little I've had to work or sacrifice for in my life. Things just always came to me. Then I came across something I really enjoyed. Something I couldn't explain or rationalize. Something I couldn't essentially hold in the palm of my hand, as I had everything else. Something that, for many years, I was unaware of.
This thing is love. Held in the palms of not -my- hand, but -our- hands. My career thus far has provided me with everything I need to support my relationship, with the exception of the most important part of it. Him. I'm realizing more and more how vital an element he is to my happiness, so I'm faced with the decision: Accept the challenge of truly giving up my securities to be with him, or: Remain a part of the military, and collect the material benefits that will pave my way to an easier future. Logically, the choice seems easy, but I'm sure anyone who's been in love can tell you that it's not that simple.
I hesitate. There is a fear, I must admit. An aversion to choosing the unknown, but likely the most rewarding, over the safe and certainly comfortable.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the easier the decision seems to become in my mind, but I now lean in the direction I never would have before. Love is changing me, and I'm starting to recognize that that isn't a bad thing.

It just doesn't seem to work for me....

In life there come times when you start to identify the flaws of your person, and to grow, you have no choice but to fix these flaws.

After much experience and observation, I have realized one of my major flaws as well as its source. I am a negative person. My life has primarily consisted of loneliness, fear, betrayal, and punishment for failures. All of these building on each other to produce a broken and faithless man. Looking back I cannot recall any time that I was encouraged, supported, or made to feel loved by my family, and by the time they started to change that, the damage was already too extensive. I am now almost completely incapable of maintaining contact with anyone without fear or suspicion of what's said or thought when I am not around. I await the eventual Exodus of everyone I dare to draw close to. I cannot even bring myself to quantify my own worth as a person to any respectable comparison. These traits virulently feed on one another in a terrible cycle which I struggle with every day, more so now that I've realized them.

Fortunately, I believe that, with this realization, I have also Identified the solution: I believe I need to put myself in a place where I can interact with people better than myself on a regular basis. I need not only to be convinced that people can be trust worthy, but also to have examples of the better person that I would like to be.

I still have griefs that I need to address with some VIP's in my life (something else that brings about major anxiety), but overall, I've found that silence is the most poisonous of options most of the time.


Really, I'm writing this mostly for myself, so that i wont forget it. XD

Yep. Tomorrow I'm canceling my internet service, and this laptop will be locked up in an ISU awaiting it's trip to Iraq. I'll have my phone, so I'm not getting totally cut off, but I'll be much less active. As well I'll be on no IM services.

So this Sunday I fly out to fort A.P. Hill to undertake the ridiculously useless training that is going to cut the Anthrocon weekend by so delicate a margin, that making any attempt to attend would not only be unfulfilling, but also financially irresponsible.

All I want to do is bitch and pitch a fit about it, but I know that won't do me any good. It'll be counterproductive to my career, so I'm trying to look at the better elements. I should be going to the E-5 promotion board before we leave for Iraq and the promotion points that this course will give me are going to be useful for my swift advancement; I'm going to get paid per-diem (spelling?) so I'm actually going to get quite a bit of money when I return, on top of the civilian clothing allowance that I haven't received yet, so I'm looking at at least a $830 bonus in the near future; and I've heard a lot about this Georgetown Cupcakes place, which we'll be visiting as a unit to celebrate completing the course.

Still, I can't help but be pretty glum about not going to AC this year. I have a spot in a room (in the hosting hotel) full of several of my favorite people (whom I'm still going to go visit before I fly away for a year, you best fucking believe it.), I would have had the opportunities to meet some people, and I'm legal this AC season, so I would have been out sharing drinks with people (which is surprisingly important to getting to know some furs). I would have obviously been allotted the opportunity to spend time with many of my friends I haven't been able to see since last year. As well, this years guests of honor hold my interest more vividly than any that have come before.

This was just the perfect set up for the perfect Anthrocon, and I've been planning it for a year. One by one, all the best things fell into place and the stars are aligning, and then, ONE MONTH OUT, the Army reels back it's Sword of Liferuin, and just nicks the thread holding the whole thing together. It doesn't even have the mercy to take the whole weekend away from me. Only enough for me to return to Texas Saturday night, and wake up to the painful closing Sunday of Anthrocon 2012. All my friends and the good times I didn't have more than a thousand miles away.

Such is life. Best part of it all. I'll still be in Iraq next AC. Two, down the hole. Courtesy of my wonderful Career Choice. Risk my life diffusing bombs for the Army equals not getting to do the one thing I look forward to a year. I love my life.

I have a habit of expecting people to trust me as much as I trust them, and it never seems to be the case. This is clearly an indication that I trust people far too readily. I like to believe I'm not naive, but my method of conducting myself socially seems to be pretty peculiar.

I've always been particular with my friends. I have those who are very close to me, and those I am merely cordial with. There's no middle ground. I am entirely suspicious of those who aren't close, and fully trusting of those who are.
I suppose I really should sort out my friends a little more abrasively. Make room for more I can trust to an extent, and further narrow my already very thin circle of confidants. It just seems shallow to me. Like having Quantity rather than Quality. Perhaps that really is naivety though.

I gotta see a Psychologist...
