Posted 12 years agoLet's be blunt. The new direction they've taken on FAF is a complete fucking joke that runs as thus:
1 - Promote admin with questionable history
2 - New admin removes existing staff
3 - Users question choice of admin
4 - Admins obfusticate over issue, close thread
5 - Congratulatory thread appears, ethics are called into question
6 - To avoid the issue, admin makes all discussion related to illegal activities bannable offenses
So yeah, under the new rule, most of the regulars who made the place have been removed, chased off or just purged. And as such, I'm going elsewhere out of principal. The site sucks, the administration sucks and their attitude towards users sucks.

There's nothing there yet, but I will start by reposting Exo*Genesis, then continuing updating it once it's caught up on Weasyl.

I've been starting drawing again, been a while since my last submission, so I'm getting back in to the swing of things.

Oh Emm Gee an update?
Posted 12 years agoApparently it's been 8 months since I last updated Exo*Genesis. This is a bad thing.
The last 4 pages, and the next one were actually sketched and mostly drawn last summer, which gives a kind of indication of either how busy I've been or how completely fucking lazy I am. A bit from column A and a bit from B really.
There are a few reasons for the lack of comic and art. The main one being time. Work has been busy and understaffed, so spare time hasn't been a thing that happens often. Add to that my Traildog project has eaten the rest of the time with biking, filming and editing.
Traildog is progressing not too bad with a whole buttload of stuff in the can, though I've decided to concentrate more on youtube than the website itself, as hosting is shite and slow and I am using Wordpress which really isn't suited to what I am doing.

First off, I've been working on a project called TrailDog, which you can find at www.traildog.co.uk It's hopefully going to be a bit like Google Maps but for off-road biking, and involves me going out to trails, filming and mapping them then putting them online. I've probably done somewhere in the region of 500km of biking since I started, and about 80hrs of footage. It's an ongoing thing.

I am planning on getting back in to drawing again now that the site is running, so hopefully that'll start once my arm and finger are back in one piece.

I am still working on it, though for the time being I'm working on colouring the old ones that never got finished. It's taking a while though. The reason behind this is that I recently set up shop on Smackjeeves and Drunkduck, and I'm updating there, but don't want to post unfinished pages, so they're both halted at page 15, and I'll resume with those once 16 is coloured. In the meantime because I've not been updating here, I am finishing page 34 to continue with the story.
So to clarify, on other sites, I'm finishing up page 16, which will be reposted here, once that's done I'll finish page 34, then alternate between finishing old pages and releasing new ones.
Unless anyone fancies helping out with colouring, in which case drop me a note.

Broken wrist update
Posted 13 years agoWent to the hospital earlier, got x-rayed and all that shit. Apparently it's not a broken wrist, but I've done serious damage to the ligaments throughout my hand. Which is annoying because it means I've got no broken bones and no excuse not to go back to work.
This invariably means that because I've got large portions of my hand strapped together, I'm going to end up lumped with the part of my job I hate the most because I can't use my hands fully.
I wish it had been a proper break, because then at least it's a real injury rather than some shitty one thats easy to write off as being fake or made up to avoid working. But I've been told to keep it mobile, which means going to work even if changing gears in the car hurts like fuck.
So, great.

Comic update and slight cycling accident
Posted 13 years agoI'll be honest, I was pretty depressed when I said I was probably going to quit Exo*Genesis. I've been convinced to keep going, but before I continue with the story, I'll be going back and colouring the uncoloured pages, so I can publish them fully on other sites.
Second, I had a small crash while biking yesterday and sustained a suspected broken wrist on my typing arm. Shouldn't affect drawing though.

Yeah, if you care about a story enough to put it down on paper, then it should be worth it for that, but whats the point if it's just something you've done for you? I already know what was going to happen, so I don't need to draw it. What I have in my head is far better than any shit I put on a screen can be. The whole thing seems pointless.

Comic Milestone approaching - win stuff
Posted 13 years agoIn just over a week, we should be hitting page 30 of Exo*Genesis. In celebration of me not getting bored a sacking off to spend more time on the toilet, riding bikes, or pretending I never look at porn, I'm doing a competition. A two tiered competition.
First, I need ideas. Something I can do that isn't your usual "watch me for entry into a raffle", or "your character in the comic" (seriously, that one isn't happening).
So, I'm looking for competition ideas, something unique and interesting. Something I can run that will increase readership, but also give back to the people watching. And here's the good part. Whoever comes up with the best idea gets to see their idea being run as the actual competition, and will also get the prize themself as well as whoever wins the actual competition.
If that makes sense.
So, ideas please!

Hand out of commission
Posted 13 years agoWell, great news. I'm part of the event crew fior a major event in Scotland every year. This year, I've managed to fuck up my drawing hand in the first hour of the week. Stupidly, I decided against using workgloves when working on preparing one of the tracks in use this weekend.
The result was a large blister covering most of my palm. I got it bandaged up, but the thing burst and kept leaking all day. I've kept it clean, but it's gone infected. My hand is now bound up pretty tight and hurting like fuck.
I have no idea how long this is going to take to heal, but it's really fucking annoying.
Piss.

Posted 13 years agoAs of now, the update day is changing from Probably Sundays to Maybe wednesdays.
The main reason is that when I post it normally, FA is dead and nobody sees it. Wenesday is more active.
What? Is it wrong to want people to see stuff I put hours of work into? At least I'm honest about it. And while we're on the subject, hopefully foing back to the weekly schedule. I now have a pile of script to be done, and the story is starting to speed up.

After months of being dicked around by my doctors, I've finally got an appointment to see a specialist. Specialist in what, I don't know because nobody wants to actually tell me what the fuck is wrong with me. Either way, it's not quite as bad as around christmas, but it still hurts regularly and stops me sleeping on my right hand side.
So naturally, I have to pull my back down the left hand side at work yesterday.
Now I can't sleep on my right side either. I managed 3 hours sleep last night, going from a few minutes sleep to ARGH to turn over to sleep to ARGH. And now I seem to have also picked up a cold or something.
The only logical explanation is that I am actually dying, and probably have cholera or bad AIDS or something. So yeah, that's fun.

Can do any species, any colour scheme, and hair if needs be. 3d bust commissions will generally take around 7 days to complete, though less if I get right into it, and they can be livestreamed if required.
I can also do full body stuff, but I haven't quite got the hang of rigging and posing yet, so it will just be neutral poses.

Full body: $30 (with free posing upgrade once I get a method that works, price includes simple clothing. Complex clothing will be +$5, clean-nude -$5, explicit-nude +$5)

Posted 14 years agoIt's been a while since I did much Exo*Genesis stuff, so I'm starting to draw it again. I feel I've progressed with my art a bit, so hopefully it's at a level that'll make a difference. And possibly less shit.
I'm setting an arbitrary return date of Sunday the 8th of January, because why the hell not? Gives me some time to do buffers. This date may change though dependant on the next thing.
And that thing is I may be seriously ill. Which is fun. I've had blinding pain in my side for a few weeks now. I'm on heavy duty painkillers and booked in for an ultrasound. The doctor thinks somethings gone wrong with my liver. That's scheduled for the 4th, so as long as it doesn't explode or I die or something, the comic will be on the 8th.
And finally, I'm streaming now, because I have fuck all else to do.
