Gdakon aftermath & EF news
Posted 3 years agoOne week ago I was at Gdakon, a furry convention held in Gdansk, Poland.
It was my 5th Gdakon and 11th furry convention overall.
Not only was it the best convention I ever had, but I think I was LITERALLY the most popular person at the convention. Why you might ask? I held a 145L cocktail party at the con, at a cost of 750 euros of my own money.... yes, I am not kidding xD
It was my present to the entire convention, after 2 years of no conventions. Pictures are on my Twitter!
I also unfortunatly caught COVID at the con, and I did indeed have symptoms, so I had to take a week off from work.
Other than, I got into main hotel for EF! I am rooming with
ranfox from 22-29th of August (extra early arrival and late departure). I am so glad we managed to get a main room spot in Estrel, this will be my 3rd time at EF and my second time in Estrel room.
See you guys there!

Lookback at 2021 & 2022 Plans
Posted 3 years agoHello hello!
We're already almost at the end of the first month of 2022.... time is going past so fast!
For anyone interested- I am going to sum up last year first, before we get into the 2022 news and plans :)
Last year happenings:
-Visited some nice domestic friends throughout the year, it was nice jumping on a train and visiting for a couple of nights at the time for drinks, cuddles and other cozyness.
-Went to Krakow, Poland to visit some nice furry friends there, and also picked up my new fursuit feetpaws while I was there.
-Went on a short 2 night trip to Antwerp, Belgium to spend some nice time there with a Belgian fur.
-Got visited by a couple of nice Bulgarian friends in my city, Eindhoven
-Visited a nice furry friend of mine who lived at the time in Hamburg, Germany and had fun spending time with him and exploring his city.
Generally it was a succesfull year! Even without conventions I managed to keep myself busy, made good use of the COVID-19 Vaccine passes to travel to other countries to visit furry friends. I actually fund these trips really relaxing, I think conventions are good because it means you can be something else for once, you can dress up as your fursona, you drink a lot of alcohol, do a lot of dancing, partying and spending time being social, which is awesome because it's an awesome break from everyday life, slaving away at work. But, I wouldnt really call conventions 'relaxing', they cost a lot of money, registration is nerve racking most of the time, and at the con you are doing all those things mentioned above which also take up a lot of energy and such. But with short breaks to visit furry friends who live scattered all over Europe, it's actually more relaxing. You can sleep in late and cuddle with them, go out to explore the city to explore on your own terms and pace, go for food and drinks, and no big heavy luggage, no fursuiting and no extreme partying. And these breaks are perfect for mental sanity and wellbeing. I enjoyed those trips so much last year and I will continue doing them throughout this year as well.
Talking about conventions however, I am planning only a few. Usually I went for 4 conventions a year in the pre-COVID years, but for a few reasons, I am only doing 2 this year. I wanted to originally go to Gdakon, NFC, Confuzzled and EF. I decided not to attend CFZ because of UK's harsh coronavirus restrictions which meant extra PCR tests and quarantining etc (making the convention expensive and logistically hard to plan), and NFC which I registered and paid for but got cancelled for this year and rolled for next year. But I am okay with that, I keep my main hotel spot for next year, all good.
So that leaves me with only Gdakon (Gdansk, Poland) and Eurofurence (Berlin, Germany). I already paid and registered for Gdakon, and I will register for Eurofurence this weekend when registration opens. I am particularly looking forward to Gdakon since I am hosting my own event there, but I am also very popular and well known with many of the attendees there so I'll always have someone to hang out with. and I love Eurofurence too and can't wait to attend too.
2 Conventions for me is not alot this year, half of my usual, but it's no problem. For the rest of the year I'm going to make up for it to visit more furry friends again because I enjoy them so much, plus visiting my few domestic friends here in NL. I'm planning to go to Krakow again, to Gdansk (not just for Gdakon, but also for a seperate private trip later on in the year), Sofia, Frankfurt and probably 1 or 2 more cities that will be booked more spontaneously.
So, those are my plans for this year, I think it's going to be a simple but really affective year for me. What about you, what are your plans?
Thanks for taking the time to read, I'll make another journal later on in the year. ^^

General life Update
Posted 4 years agoYo yo!
We're already past the halfway mark of 2021, damn does the time fly!
I'm making this journal as a general life update. Bascially, the end of Coronavirus being a major problem and inconvenience in the EU is near. From the July the 1st, the EU will have a vaccine passport meaning anyone who has been fully vaccinated or has been negatively tested, can travel to any EU country without having to take further PCR tests on arrival or has to quarantine. Seeing as the vaccines are already working EU wide, I suspect that 2022 will be back to around 85% normal. Anyways, I'm using this to my advantage by organising a few international trips to see my friends scattered all over Europe. Next month I"m going to Krakow to visit some furry friends there and to pick up my new fursuit feetpaws. After that, I wanna travel to some other places where my friends are located.
I honestly think going to conventions in 2022 wont be much of a problem anymore, since every willing adult will have been fully vaccinated by then. So, I presume I will be able to go to my most favourite annual conventions. These will be:
-Gdakon 2022
-NFC 2022
-Confuzzled 2022
-Eurofurence 2022
If COVID indeed does permit, I will indeed be at those 4 conventions next year. I have already found roomies for all of those conventions and I know I will be in the main hotel for all of them. So, you will see me there if you will also be at any of these. My last convention was NFC 2020 (Malmo, Sweden) which was over a year and a half ago now.
In other news, I have not really done anything major in the first half of the year, only working a lot, visiting a few furry friends domestically a couple of times and that's really only been it. This pandemic did give me a good oppurtunity to reflect on life and everything, I also basically realised who actually were my friends and who weren't worth my time. I really want to reward my reliable friends that've never let me down and always stayed in contact with me in the future when I am able to again :)
That's it! I probbaly won't make another journal until probbaly the end of the year. Lemme know if you have any comments or questions or anything. and how has your year been so far?

2020/2021 Journal and other info
Posted 4 years agoYo!
People don't really make journals anymore, right? People like FA to upload submissions but to keep their profile up to date, and to make journals? Seems like that has died a long time ago. I thought I could be one of the few people who keeps their profile somewhat semi-active. I guess this would be the best time to make one, I guess we all don't have much to do anyways...
SO. I P R O M I S E to a certain point this journal won't just be about COVID all the time. We all know how it's affected our lives in general and furry life, but I might just have to mention it a little just for context reasons.
Well, anyways... 2020. To be completely honest, it wasn't THAT bad for me. at the start of the year, I planned to move to a new city, to find a place to rent and to find employment. And well, I did! but before that, I did the NFC/Gdakon double. It's famous for people who are familiar with those conventions. Both conventions happen right after each other, so people do both of those conventions at once. I flew from Amsterdam to Copenhagen, met up with my roomies, and we took the train from Copenhagen to Malmo. Copenhagen is in Denmark, and Malmo is in Sweden, but both cities are right next to each other, only seperated by a bridge.
I'm not gonna waffle on about both conventions too much, so I'll keep it brief. NFC was overall a good convention, I was in the Main con hotel, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and met up with some old friends. I will say, even though it was supposed to a be a major European convention, it could actually be quite dead at certain points, but from 7-8PM onwards, it was great to walk around at that point. Overall, the convention was fine, I've been to better, but still enjoyable. Confee and Hotel price was rather expensive and the bar... well... let"s not talk about the bar and their 12 euro whiskey and coke....
We then took the train back over to Copenhagen Airport, and flew directly from Copenhagen to Gdansk. Gdakon is very special to me, It was not only my first ever convention (Gdakon 2017) but this was my 4th time at Gdakon. So as you see, I'm a very dedicated Gdakon attendee. This Gdakon , was not only the best Gdakon but also the best convention ever out of all the conventions I"ve attended. I don't think I've ever been so social at a convention in my life, I was constantly bombarbed with messages from people If I wanted to hang out, go out for dinner, go for fursuiting, to visit an event and etc. Did some good fursuiting with friends, always had friends to go out with for food. Gdakon actually has to be one of the best run conventions I"ll ever attend.
So, 2 weeks of just conventions, I felt great afterwards, I little tired, but it was amazing. When I got home, COVID started to become a problem in Europe and kept popping up in the news. I was supposed to go to CFZ and EF but those got cancelled. My own small highlights of the year were small but nice. I visited a friend in Belgium, went to Krakow to meet up with some friends and had a friend from Germany come over at my place in Eindhoven. Please note, all of these things happened in summer when COVID infections were at an alltime low and when travelling was still 100% legal.
Overall, I had 2 amazing conventions, I moved to my own place in a new city, found employment, was able to save up a very big amount of savings andhad a little bit of social interactions when borders re-opened. I think I should be grateful for 2020, for me it was fine. At worst, I was just very bored and frustrated.
About 2021, NFC was cancelled and very unfortunatly my favourite convention; Gdakon. CFZ will probbaly be cancelled as well meaning EF may be the last hope for a convention I"m hyped for this year.
And that"s pretty much it! I thank you guys for taking the time to read, and I hope to be able to see some of you later this year. Stay safe!

Coronavirus & Furry Fandom
Posted 5 years agoYes, I know that everyone is a bit sick (pun unintended) and tired of the Coronavirus, it’s constantly on the news, the radio, on all social media, etc.
But, we as humans but also as furries are going through an interesting time right now. We as furries basically have our own economy within the fandom, and a big part of us has gone to a convention or has thought about travelling to one. The closure of borders, airporrs, seaports, places of work has already and will continue to have a big and negative impact. People will stop spending money on art, other type or furry themed items including fursuits, badges, woodwork, etc.
We are used to going to our favourite conventions each year. Wether it’s EF, CFZ, NFC, Gdakon, MFF, Anthrocon, etc, we each have a convention or more we expect to happen each year. This is actually the first time ever that some conventions might hve to skip this year’s edition. You see, Convention Organisers might not want to voluntarily cancel their conventions for the year, but when the government steps in with forced border closures, closures of airports, and banning orders of events over a certain amount of people (which countries such as Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland and many others already have done) it means that we will need to get used to the idea that going to our favourite annual furry conventions is not always possible.
Take Confuzzled for instance. UK government is putting pressure on places of mass gatherings to close, and wants to put forward a bill where they can close any type of port immediatly. I am rather sure that CFZ will have to be cancelled, as it is only in 2 months. The chance is also high that other cons such as EF, will be forced to cancel. People can no longer travel across borders in europe without a good reason, airports are closing, and governments are banning mass events. As much as it is a shame, it is very likely that this will have to happen. Unless Coronavirus cases drop considerately. Which I doubt will happen within the next few months.
All in all: it’s gonna be a rather strange, interesting and negative year for the fandom. Anyone has got any thoughts?

I'm officialy an Eindhoven Wolf!
Posted 5 years agoSo!
Next month I move to my apartment in Eindhoven, it's a really big step for me but it's important. Amsterdam is too expensive, Rotterdam is too crime ridden so Eindhoven would be perfect. Many places to eat, many things to do, a great nightlife, mostly affordable, close to the Belgian and German border, and has a big international airport.
The fandom in the last few years has been rough on me, so I feel like moving will mean I have a higher quality of life, more privacy, more independence, and to better connect with my furry friends, whom I am now able to host at my place. I really can't wait for it and this will be the start of something great :)
In other news, I am doing both NFC and Gdakon next month, which means 2 cons in 2 weeks. It will be probbaly be exhausting, but a really fun experience for sure. I have already been to Gdakon 3 times and this will be my 4th time in a row, and my first time at NFC. I have some great roomies at both and I'm also in main hotel for both, so I can't wait! I will be surrounded by a group of great friends that I can rely on and I look forward to fursuiting again for the first time since EF.
I'm also going to Confuzzled and EF, and I am also in main hotels for both. (Hilton and Estrel). It's gonna be a challenging but fun year for sure ^^

EF 25 Aftermath - Other Info
Posted 6 years agoHeya! So I'm back from Eurofurence. It was my favourite con so far, I am really glad to have had the honour of staying in Estrel. I met old friends again for the first time in ages and definetly made some new ones! Me and my awesome roomie
petephin even held a Portuguese party that about 30 people came to attend! It was really fun <3
It was just really great, EF has a special magic about it. But now I am worrying if I will get into Estrel again next year, I really hope so! It was also the con that I recieved my bodysuit from
fursuitup to turn my partial into a fullsuit. So I am now officially a fullsuiter!
So anyways, I have no furry cons planned for a long while, this will give me a lot of time to save up money for the conventions next year.
This year's conventions I attended:
Gdakon 2019 (5-11th of March, Rumia, Poland)
Confuzzled 2019 (23-29th of May, Birmingham, UK)
Eurofurence 25 (13-19th of August, Berlin, Germany)
Planned conventions in order for next year:
NFC 2020 (18-24th of February, Malmo, Sweden)
Gdakon 2020 (25th of February to 2nd of March, Rumia, Poland)
WUFF 2020 (4-10th of May, Kyiv, Ukraine)
Confuzzled (21-27th of May, Birmingham, UK)
Eurofurence 26 (18-24th of August, Berlin, Germany)
Note that all of these dates include early arrival and late departure.
So that will be the last journal for quite some while, It has been a fantastic year of conventions but sadly the convention season is over for me now for this year. If you have absolutely any questions or want to say anything, just do it! ^^ Cheers for a fantastic time and to make next year even better!

EF 25
Posted 6 years agoJust a quick journal since Eurofurence is just around the corner.
I’ll be at the con from 13-19 of August. I’m arriving early in the morning and shorty after that my roommate
petephin will arrive so we can then check in into our room. Really happy I’m in the Estrel since it is so rare to be in it due to the extremely high demand. It means I can take as many showers as want, nap when I want and invite friends back to the room for cuddles and drinks.
I’ll be quite busy at the con since I have many awesome plans and will be hanging out with friends again, some who I haven’t seen since EF last year. This will also be the con where I recieve my fullsuit, it will be awesome not to have to partial anymore. I am very approachable and you are more than welcome to come say Hello and for a hug whenever you see me, in or out of suit.
I just wanted to keep it nice and short, see you soon if you’re also coming to EF :)
I’ll be at the con from 13-19 of August. I’m arriving early in the morning and shorty after that my roommate

CFz 2019 Aftermath, Life update and Future Furry Plans
Posted 6 years agoHello! This might be quite a long journal, it will contain me telling about my con experiences through the first half of the year, my plans for the 2nd half of the year, some ranting and some of my thoughts on everything. If you have always wanted to know more about me and my thoughts in and around the fandom, this could be a good read for you to understand me better.
I've just come back home from Confuzzled only like 6 hours ago, Like I mentioned in a previous journal, I was meant to visit WUFF in Ukraine earlier this month but they cancelled the convention due to political unrest with Russia, and thought it was better to skip this year's edition and to try again next year. So I opted to go for Confuzzled instead in May since it was also the same month that WUFF was supposed to in. Since I had already booked time off from work to go to WUFF I booked some flights to go visit my Portuguese friend instead, and then booked off time for ConFuzzled.
I ofcourse as usual, got fucked over by my roomie meaning even though I was supposed to room in Crowne Plaza (Only 10 mins away) I eventually had to room in the Premier Inn (Around 18 mins away) instead because my roomie bailed on me. GG. That's literally the 4th time people have fucked me over when it comes to rooming at a furcon so no surprise there anymore (e.g. 'friend' abandoning me for some shitty popufur at a different con, roomie unfortunatly getting himself kicked out, or people bailing on me as roomie etc) I really from now on have to only spend effort on really good friends that don't abandon me and stop trying to room with casuals I really don't know well and are unreliable.
Anyways, the first day and a half of the con was kinda... well disappointing. Didn't really have anyone to hang out with or anything and was quite bored. I remember standing in the lobby and thinking 'Sigh... why did I even come here?' however thing started to change quite quickly on the 2nd half on the first offical day of the con. I actually started to find people I enjoyed hanging out with, old friends from other conventions and meeting new people. I stayed up to 7am with some friends who were drinking and it was pretty funny staying up so late with them. I also started to know more people as the con went on, and even started to really socialise with Dutch furries who usually have acted really abyssmal against me in the past. But here the Dutchies were respectful and nice and were absolutely no problem. Fursuiting was really fun and people are really approachable, much more than at other cons like EF. The hotel convention space is great with good seating and a cozy bar, and lots of space to walk around in suit so you won't get bored. The hotel rooms themselves are really small and outdated, and the bar prices are absolutely ridiculous, it's impossible to budget on food and drink here. Food court was better value however and had okay food.
I just honestly did not expect it to go so well, I started to be way less lonely as time went on and made some new buddies that I will enjoy seeing next time, and I had a really good time. It did suck being in the overflow hotel as it exhausted me, but I will make sure I am in Hilton next edition! So now, what about the rest of the year?
I only have 1 more convention left for this year, it's Eurofuence in Germany, 13-19th of August. I am incredibly looking forward to it, I'll be in the main hotel for once (Estrel) Which means I can shower and rest whenever I want, and to invite anyone I want for cuddles and sex to the room, or just to drink and hang out with. I am rooming with my best friend in the fandom who is reliable and really enjoy hanging out with. It will also be where I will have my fullsuit for the first time! I have enjoyed being a partial at 7 different cons now, but it is time to be 100% fluffy! So I am really looking forward to it for so many reasons basically ^^
I only wanted to go 3 conventions this year to save money, e.g. my fullsuit this year is expensive, and wanting to go to 5 cons next including NFC which is really expensive next year. So I will have 5 months free between EF 2019 and NFC 2020, however that will give me a great amount of time to save up for all the cons next year.
This will be the year where I will say goodbye to the old Volskar, the Volskar that got taken advantage of, that got abandoned by people, that let people mess with his mind. From now on, I will only spend time with the people that love and apreaciate me, and just to remove all the toxic people from my life that don't contribute anything to my wellbeing, which I already have done, I am really looking forward to this new and improved Volskar.
Upcoming cons this year:
EF25
Cons planned for next year:
NFC 2020
Gdakon 2020
WUFF 2020
ConFuzzled 2020
EF26
And that's all folks, thanks for reading this and if you have anything to say or to ask any questions, go ahead! See you all in 2 months in Berlin~

Small life update (Conventions and fullsuit info)
Posted 6 years agoHello lovely people of FA!
Though i'd just share a small life update journal, even though nobody cares or will read this ^^
In my 2018 Review journal, I stated that I would want to go to atleast 4 cons, I listed 3 conventions that I wanted to go to and said I was planning a 4th. Well, I've changed my mind about the 4th con. I'm skipping going to a 4th convention to save on money for next year. I feel like I should only go to conventions that I really want to go to instead of going to any convention out of pure boredom. The money saved might go towards going to a different con i.e thinking of doing NFC and Gdakon in 2020, which are two cons in 2 weeks and it's very expensive. I was also thinking of finally moving out of my mom's house in 2020, so the money saved will go towards my move. But there is another reason why I would want to save money...
Because I have a little surprise for you all, I've recieved my current partial fursuit on the 3rd of January 2018, gone to 4 different conventions in it and have thoroughly enjoyed performing in it. But I've just ordered the BODYSUIT portion of the suit to complete my partial into a fullsuit. So I'm NOT getting a brand new fursuit, just the bodysuit. It's been my dream to be a fursuiter, but I knew I always wanted to be a fullsuiter. So the suit should be ready in time for EF25 this year. And the money saved by not going to a 4th con this year will go towards paying for that ^^
So official final con list for 2019:
-Gdakon (Rumia, Poland. 5th of March to 11 of March)
-Confuzzled (Birmingham, UK, 23rd of May to 29th of May)
-Eurofurence (Berlin, Germany, 13th of August to 19th of August)
On each of these cons, I am arriving a day early and leaving the day after, that's why the dates that I am attending are so long.
That's pretty much all I wanted to say, if you have any comments or any notes, just tell me :D

2018 - Review and my Experience
Posted 6 years agoSo I always do one of these per year, But I'm going to keep it shorter than usual for this year's edition because no one seems to really read this, and perhaps it's also better for myself to keep them more short.
2018: Wow. It has been an incredible year because this was the year I have done the most in my life, I shall list some good moments and plus points of 2018.
+ Got my fursuit on the 3rd of January
+ Went to 4 different cons (Gdakon, Furrnion, Eurofurence, Fluufff) and that's alot considering I only went to one in 2017. (Gdakon)
+ Also went on a few numerous trips to visit furry friends at their homes
+ Made new furry friends throughout the year and feel like I have expanded current ones
+ Got many great memories of the years at the cons, but also many awesome pictures of my fursuits
+ Started to make a personality for my character, and enjoying fursuiting at cons in character
I do feel like throughout the year, there was something...missing. I mean, I am thankful that I went to all these cons, that I got my fursuit and so on, but many thing bothered me throughout the year. I did have a few low points for sure. Some minus points for the year
- A few friends lost and a few friendships gone stale or worsened
- Still felt unapreaciated most of the time, I did do a lot of good deeds for people but never got any kind thankfullness for it
- One of the cons I visited in particular (Furrnion) Was terrible, awful waste of my money and my time. But I've already made a journal about it
- Seemed particularly difficult to organise roomies for conventions, one of them ditched me for a different con, and other times I happened to room alone
I guess, the year was definetly a success. I should be happy, which I am. But like i said, certain things are still annoying me that happened and that I'm still salty about. I'm looking forward to 2019 actually, I am hopeful for better memories and to indulge into my love, the furry fandom.
Things planned for 2019:
+ Visiting multiple furry friends again
+ So far, going to Gdakon, Confuzzled, EF and wanting to visit atleast one more but unsure which one. And good news, I have found roomies for all of these.
+ Getting my Duct Tape Dummy made in January, so HOPEFULLY I will have a fullsuit. I would love to have it before EF, but if not, it should hopefully be done before 2020.
+ To keep improving on my character's personality better and try to come up with new ways to stand out and be unique from all the other fursuiters
Little side note: I was supposed to go to WUFF in Ukraine, but it was cancelled due to political unrest. So I have swapped it with ConFuzzled instead.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hope you guys have a good 2019 yourself.

Fluufff 2018 - My Experience, Review and honest opinion
Posted 7 years agoHello! I came back from a Furry Convention not along ago. It is called 'Fluufff' and I went to the 2nd edition of it. I was invited to the first edition in 2017, but I decided not to come because I did not know enough people there plus the high cost of attending. However after some of my good friends telling me that they were coming, I decided to come as well and to check it out for myself.
General things that I got up to:
I mostly hung out with close friends through the con, consuming alot of alcohol on few of the days but I definetly was not drinking massive amounts of alcohol throughout the convention every single day. I mostly fursuited around 2-3 hours a day, because of the small size of the convention it was hard to fursuit for any longer since there were not always many people to interact with. However I overall still had a fun time suiting which I was surprised by since the convention is tiny. The attendees themselves were very friendly and welcoming, the overall majority of them being Dutch speaking Belgians with not many Southerns. The biggest foreign groups seemed to be Dutch and French, and was surprised to see people as far as Finland come who were also very friendly. There was an event called the Snack Exchange, were people bring food and drink from their native countries to share with attendees. It was very cozy and small, but everybody was really nice and friendly and people bought some interesting stuff. I personally bought stroopwafels with me (a Dutch delicacy) but I bought way too many of them, 200 infact. So I had to take 150 home with me xD. I also went to the main furry rave and to the Dead Dog Party, there were both really great and Wikke was my favourite DJ for sure!
Good points about the con:
-Friendly staff that is quick to help
-Adequate fursuit lounge
-OK buffet overall, especially the last 2 days they served great food!
-The main dance and the DDP were really great, good dancing area, great music and great lightning
-Great atmosphere overall, really friendly attendees
Things that need improving:
-Actually paying for the convention was very difficult due to bugs on the website and difficult website design, I needed an admin to resolve 3 different occasions where something had gone wrong
-A bit of a strange complaint, but the official dates of the con was 31 oct to 4 nov, but I feel like this was somewhat misleading due to registration not opening untill 15:30 on the 31st of October, and the con ending on 4th of november at noon. So saying it is the con is 31-4 makes it misleading because it makes it seem longer than it is. other cons like Gdakon and EF, when they announced the dates such as 22-26th, the convention was actually the entirety of those dates for the whole day.

Eurofurence 24 - My Experience and Review
Posted 7 years agoHello peeps! So I attended EF 24 in Berlin, which was held in the Estrel Hotel. The actual convention started on the 22 August and ended on 26 August, but I actually arrived very early in the morning on the 21st and left on the 27th. Here is a long review and journal about the time I had there.
I arrived at Berlin Schonefeld Airport at around 9:30AM on the 21st, after picking up my luggage, I got into a taxi and made it to my hotel. (Obviously not in the Estrel, since you have to reg within 5 miliseconds to make it into that it seems nowadays) but unfortunatly, I made it way to early to actually check in and put my luggage in the room, so I decided to go to the Estrel with my luggage. I ordered an Uber and made it to the Estrel, and I was shocked to see the absolute size of the hotel! and really excited to see it too since this was my first EF and this was my first time seeing the infamous beloved hotel for the first time. When I first walked into the hotel and through the door,
I was so excited to have finally arrived there, and walked into the lobby and had a little look around, only literally 2 minutes after walking in, I was very nicely greeted by
eltigero in fursuit who was being cute as always. We took a selfie that I uploaded to twitter and then he left. Now, this day was kinda meh for me because I was stuck in the Estrel with a very big suitcase, because to my annoyance, the fursuit lounge did not open untill 6PM, and it was at that time only 11am. So I had to wait 7 hours untill the fursuit lounge open so i could store my luggage there and fursuit and so on. So I spent the next 7 hours sitting around, drinking a bit and being bored as hell. However, FINALLY after a very long wait, I was able to go into the fursuit lounge to store my luggage. I don't remember if I immediatly when into fursuit or first walked around, or if I actually fursuited that day. I do believe that I went back to my hotel quite early because I was so tired, and I had a headache. So I ordered an Uber just a little after 10PM, and went back to the hotel to get a good night's sleep.
However, I only slept for about 2 and a half hours, and woke up at like 2:30AM with my head still hurting. So I went to take a shower, and laidd in bed watching some videos, and I felt better but I couldn't fall back asleep. so at 5:20 AM I ordered an Uber to take me to the Estrel because I was bored. So when I arrived, I had a lil look around the hotel but it was dead, so I waited outside the supermarket for it to open, bought a bottle of the worst carbonated apple drink I have ever tasted.... Okay. I then went to McDonalds to have breakfast. I don't remember exact details, but I went to go fursuit for most of the day and met a few Dutch furries who I talked to and even befriended a few. After that I went to go fursuit for some of the day, but it was quite hot and it was hard to suit more than 2 hours at a time due to the immense heat. Infact, one of the days it was 32 degrees. Most of the day I spent suiting, including going to the Fursuit Parade and also did some general chilling. I then went back to my overflow to meet my roomie
petephin who had landed and was about to come. after meeting him, we took an Uber straight away back to the Estrel and went to go for some food, for some alcohol and had a good time drinking, taking pictures and having a good time.
We then took an Uber back to our hotel at like 2:30am, so we could sleep for a new day of fun. We woke up in the monring, and
petephin practiced 'Fruit Cups' on his bass since he was going to play this song with FoxAmoore and Peppercoyote at the Charity concert on the saturday. We then took an Uber to the Estrel and did many more fun stuff together, more eating, drinking, fursuiting, picture taking, meeting new people and so on. I started to make new friends and meet new people too as the con went on and enjoyed the good attention that my suit was getting. I was nearly always suiting with my Dutch flag, and to my delight it got a lot of attention from people.
To make this journal not too long, I shall shorten the events that happend over the next few days:
-Me and
petephin met with
coopertom on one of the evenings, he told us about his DeLorean, his life, his views on European furry cons and so on, it was absolutely amazing to be able to talk to someone I had been following since I ever first came to the fandom. On the last day of the con, I gave him 5 packets of stroopwafels to take back home with him. It was so awesome to meet him in real life!
-My roomie
petephin did indeed play his song at the charity concert, it was sold out and he did an absolutely fantastic job!
-I managed to get my picture taken with a lot of people, and a lot of suiters. It was great to have met so many people at the con and to make new friends on Telegram
-
lemurr drove to come visit me and :iconpetephin for 2 days, as it is within driving distance. During the 2 days.
Conclusion:
Before I went to EF, I had always seen it as a 'popufur only' convention, where you won't get any attention if you are not well known, don't have an expensive fullsuit or whatever. When I actually went, I actually had a great time. It was really fun and I actually did get a lot of attention, hugs and cuddles and pictures taken of me. There were some lonely times but that was not really the fault of the convention, more my own. Saying that though, If you are going there on your own, especially if you are not in suit and just a regular attendee, i would not really advise it. I would only go there if you are with atleast a semi large group of friends and if there are many people there that you know that you can hang out with. Otherwise you will be quite bored and alone due to the sheer size of the con. Because it is so large, it can be quite hard to start up new friendships, but at smaller cons it is more cozier and you seem the same people all the time, which means it is easier to start talking to people.
I have concluded it was worth me going to EF, and I will definetly return in the future. So far, I do have plans to return for the 2019 edition. So, I shall see you all again at EF25!
Shoutouts to people that I especially enjoyed hanging out with:
petephin - Friend and Room mate
lemurr - Friend
kratas - Friend
coopertom Really nice guy that I enjoyed meeting for the first time
condemnedtrack - Friend

I was so excited to have finally arrived there, and walked into the lobby and had a little look around, only literally 2 minutes after walking in, I was very nicely greeted by

We then took an Uber back to our hotel at like 2:30am, so we could sleep for a new day of fun. We woke up in the monring, and

To make this journal not too long, I shall shorten the events that happend over the next few days:
-Me and

-My roomie

-I managed to get my picture taken with a lot of people, and a lot of suiters. It was great to have met so many people at the con and to make new friends on Telegram
-

Halfway through 2018 - General Life Update & News
Posted 7 years agoHappy mid 2018 everyone! Wow it has been a very incredible year so far! a lot has been done. I can not believe the things that I've done so far and how fast the year is passing.
Fursuiting: I have now been a fursuiter for 6 months! I recieved my fursuit in January and have gone to 2 conventions in it, and 2 furmeets. I have made a few videos too for my YT with my suit. I was shaking when it arrived because I was so excited! I was surprised how bad the eyesight is in a fursuit, and how hot it gets. I quickly learned that fursuiting is not an easy thing to do, the terrible vision, the overheating, how heavy the head is, big paws means you keep tripping over things. However, the magic feeling of being a big wuff is fantastic, when I put the head on, I totally transform, my personality, the way I act and talk, the feeling is incredible. It is definetly worth it, and a lot of responsibility and hard work is needed to maintain the suit too, such as transporting it, washing and brushing it. But I love cleaning it, because I am so proud of it.
Conventions: I attended Gdakon this year, and this was my first fursuiting con and my 2nd ever con overall. Fursuiting at this convention was absolutely rewarding and amazing, I constantly kept getting stopped for photos and for hugs. I interacted with a lot of people and made some new friends. I also attended Furrnion this year, but eh.... let's just not even go there, I made a Journal about it xD
It hasn't been 100% perfect this year so far though, yes I know I have been to two cons, some furmeets and I got my beloved fursuit this year, but some things have been bothering me. I am a hard working person, and I do up to 60 hours per week, and it is absolutely killing me, it's good money ofcourse, but it is difficult to maintain such a working schedule. I also am pretty bored on my days off and between convetions, I just stay at home alot.
It also has bothered me that friendships have broken down this year with some people, Not particulary massive arguments or fights, but I feel like me and certain people have drifted apart and so on. It bothers me, but I just have to look to the future and think of all the people I will at conventions to befriend them and so on.
So overall a good year since I have achieved a lot, and a lot has gone on, but it could have been better, I hope the year will improve as time goes on!
Upcoming confirmed conventions this year:

Furrnion II - Oh Dear...
Posted 7 years agoSo from 19-23 of April this month I attended Furrnion, a furry convention held in the South of Madrid in Spain. What can I say about it? It was pretty much an absolute shambles.
Anyways, I came 1 day before the con, checked into my overflow hotel and regged and got my badge and met my friends. We could all at first sense that it was quite a boring and relaxed con so far, and were already not looking forward to the rest of the con. We explored the hotel and it wasn't the worst hotel, but the aircon and minifridges were defective in nearly everybodies' room, the heat was hard to cope with. The hotel decor was obviously outdated, my Polish friend even said it looke like a 'Polish communist restaurant from the 80's' which seemed true. The bar area was quite okay, lot's of places to sit near the bar. But the hotel area was so small, the lobby was tiny, and the rest of the convention space was laughable. No matter if you were a suiter or non suiter, you'd get bored with how little there was to explore in the hotel.
Another thing I noticed quickly, the Spanish attendees at the con could A; not speak English at all and B: they were quite rude and unwelcoming to the foreign attendees at the con. They would purposely not interact with non-Spanish speaking attendees. So it was pretty much impossible to speak to people or to make new friends cause of the language barrier.
On the first day of the con, there was the opening ceremony and well... what a clusterfuck that was. The room they chose to have it in was too small, so like 1/3 of people had to stand OUTSIDE the room and had to watch the opening ceremony on a small TV screen. The main speaker of the ceremony couldn't speak English so there was a translator for him... who's English himself was not up to scratch and you could notice he did not fully translate the sentences of the orangiser. Then one of the organisers said this: 'Unfortunatly not every person could fit in this room, let's clap for the people who couldn't fit in'... like really? let's joke at our mistake of choosing a too small room to hold the opening ceremony in. GG.
So let's talk about something that pissed me off so much, which was the worst of all at the con. All the suiters outside were outside the main stage hall, waiting to get in to compete in the fursuit olympics. after some while, one of the staff shouted 'Full fursuits!' and so all the full fursuits came in. then the anouncement was made in SPANISH (Not English, I had to ask someone what was going on) that the main stage was full and therefore the partials were not allowed to come in. So in other words ,obvious discrimination against partials. They then used the excuse that 'fullsuits have worse mobility, and thereforse should have priority' .....but that only counts if there are actually any partials competing??? and also... NOBODY CARES! I can tell you now, how many fullsuiters actually would give a shit if there were partials competing? It's supposed to be a bit of fun, it's supposed to be not serious. Even though I'm a partial, I competed in the fursuit Olympics at Gdakon 2018 and there were partials with SHOES competing even though I had footpaws on, but did you see me having a tantrum because they had a slight advantage over me? No! because it's supposed to be all some good fun for god's sake. I was so angry after being told i was not allowed to compete in the olympics, that I immediatly went to the fursuit lounge and took my fursuit off.
There was a pretty fun activity called the 'Snack Exchange' where people from different countries would bring food and drink of their country with them to share with other people, i took about 20 packs of stroopwafels with me and I enjoyed tasting other peoples' food. Only shame that the place it was held in was too crowded (Main stage room) and that people who didn't bring snacks were BARRED from going in, unless they paid 3 EUROS! I am not making this up. Which is a shame because it meant my friends couldn't come in to enjoy the food with me because I did bring food with me to share.
Fursuiting overall was so boring and unsatisfying, like I said, not only was there hardly any space to fursuit, but the attendees didn't really seem to give a fuck. I did my best to be as cute and interesting as possible, but the Spanish people didn't seem to show any interest in the fursuits, choosing to actually ignore them. Because of this, i didnt bother fursuiting for more than 2 hours per day, wasn't really worth it at all.
So many other bad things, that i'll quickly mention.
-Artists alley was in a ridiculous location, unventilated in a tiny room where hardly anybody visited to. the artists seemed quite lonely
-Badges were awful, wayyy too small
-The amount that panels were delayed was laughable
-registrating was questionable, you had to sign a piece of paper with your name and adress, and accept the rules. one of the rules was: 'I shall not complain about the gifts in the Furrnion welcoming bag' like wtf?
Also, sponsorship at Furrnion works in an awful way, when you sponsor, you get treated like a king and they practically punish non sponsers. Sponsors were given absolutely over the top privileges like 2 hour early access to dealers den, 2 free drinks at Dead Cheatah Party (Which was shit) a seperate queue at reg which meant non sponsor could only use 1 queue and couldnt use the other on when no sponsors were regging at that time, slowing regging time for everyone else, they were also given FREE access to snack exchange activity even if they didn't bring any food. not to mention they got so many lavish gifts back in the con bag, why is the convention spending half of the sponsor's money on gifts to give back to them?
I had a little talk with some of the organisers in private, and they seemed actually really nice, and they took criticism very well and understood the problems that I talked about. They don't seem to be doing this on purpose at all, it's just that they don't seem to have any experience at all and can't cope with all of the work. but there were so many rookie mistakes made that made this con awful for ALOT of people. there was a severe amount of complaints from tenths of other people, who were very unhappy about how the con was run. Not just me!
SOME good things
-Fursuit lounge was actually pretty decent, i've seen far better ones but it was actually alright and i managed to cool off quite quickly in there
-Atmosphere in Bar area was good and I loved the special furrnion drinks, 'Poro' which was an alcohol milkshake beverage with cream was absolutely delicious!
-Even though I actually didnt go to the rave to dance because me and friends were in a bad mood, it still looked like an absolutely lit party
Furrnion didn't feel like a Furry convention, more like a meetup with old friends. The only people that made it somewhat managable were friends from previous furry cons and their friends which I quickly got attached to. The con itself contributed absolutely nothing to my good times. THANK YOU SO MUCH to my good friends who I had a good laugh with and enjoyed drinking and hanging out with.
Me and my friends have decided not to attend next year, but if next year's edition has really good reviews, we might come the year after that one. But we'll see for now. You make your mind up if you want to go or not, but these are complaints from 30+ people.

2017 - A long review and look back at this year
Posted 7 years agoHello! I did this last year and I thought I would do it again. It's gonna be long but I feel like I write some insightful stuff that you guys could perhaps take some advice from. I had a good year actually, it was far better than 2016. Ofcourse there were plus and minus points but I achieved some good things.
First of all, I set myself targets for 2017. They were:
What I need to do in 2017 to improve my life
1. I need to make Gdakon 2017 one of the best experiences ever, be in a really good mood and show my best side and make it a good one for my room mate and other people that I will meet there
2. Find a better job, more money means I can move out quicker
3. Stop being a pussy and actualy note and message people on this site to meet more people and perhaps make friends. I can't sit on my ass and expect people to contact me. I need to put the effort in to be more social.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1. Yes, It was a really good con actually. I made a video about it and currently it has 650+ views and 20 likes. The con was really good but the people were really nice and so kind, now I remember why I love this fandom. There was something bad that happened, that I mentioned in private to friends, but it did not spoil the con at all. Gdakon 2017 was my first con and it was extremely memorable.
2. Yes, I quit my job of 4+ years that I hated, and got a new better paid one with more perks. my financial situation has improved by atleast 300% I'd say.
3. Mostly yes, I did try to message people first and stay more in touch, mostly it worked but it didn't always work. Sometimes it led to sadness and disappointment. But through doing it, I did make atleast 4+ contacts that I wouldn't have had if I didn't talk to people.
2017 was a very special year for me because I went to my first furcon. I've been in the fandom since 2012 and have been dreaming to go to a con for 5 years, and I was so hyped that I could go to my first furcon. It was also the year that I ordered my fursuit, and as I'm writing this, the fursuit is only 3 days from being delivered to me! I got a fursuit not to show off, not just because I could afford it or to get popular. This fursuit is extremely symbolic to me, I remember being 15 in 2012 and staying up to 5AM in the night, when i was supposed to do my homework but instead I laid in bed watching fursuit videos, con videos, fursuit bowling videos and absolutely LOVING the idea of having my own fursuit. To now finally having one.... I can't explain how I feel about this. 5 years ago I would have never thought I could ever be a suiter myself, but now I am. I absolutely can't wait to act out my character.
I also got a couple of arts, not many but I did with
lightning-wolf and
kai_yeena and thank you for letting me collab with you in those art pics! I loved them and adore both pics <3
I also have a YT channel, as of now it only has 3 videos and 17 subscribers, but I have huge idea for the channel. I want to make fursuit skits, con videos like I did for Gdakon 2017 and do collabs with other fursuiters. I have some extremely unique ideas for my YT channel, and I absolutely can't wait to do them. I learned alot about editing from my Gdakon 2017 video too, and I will purchase an expensive camera like a GoPro to record videos with, to maximise the quality of my Youtube videos. My Youtube channel is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX.....Hp9yx6zPQK992A
There were a couple of minus points of this year:
-The year itself was quite boring and uneventful, a lot of the year was going to work, coming back late at night, having a bath and going to bed. That's good for my bank account but not for my mental health.
- I made the mistake of only going to 1 con, it seriously is not enough. Because after Gdakon, I had no other con to look forward to for the rest of the year.
-Fell out with a couple of 'friends'. An example is when somebody who i was enjoying getting to know wanted to room with me, but then totally ignored me for no reason, meaning I wasn't able to go to the con that I wanted to go to and cancelled registration. Why did he stop being friends with me? I have no idea why but it's a shame it happend at the end of the year, since I wanted to end the year on a good note.
Other than that, It was a really good year. Which it defo was. So what must I do in 2018?
1. Just continue being very social to increase my chances of meeting new friends and making friends, which I want.
2. Go to atleast 3 cons, more if possible. I am already officially going to 1 (Gdakon 2018) but I need to find roomies for more. i am already in talks with 1 person to room with at several cons in 2018 and it's all goin good so far, so my chances are high of me going to several cons.
3. Work hard on my Youtube channel, and turn it into something big. I am 100% dedicated to making the best fursuit videos on Youtube.
4. Create the perfect personality for when I fursuit, I want people to say 'Wow, Volskar's character is really unique and amazing!'
What can I already look forward to in 2018?
+Going to Furrave, a massive Dutch furry rave party
+Going to my beloved Gdakon again, it's in a fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. I love this con and I absolutely can't wait
+Being a fursuiter, my beloved dream
+Meeting fantastic people that I've known for ages or from my previous con
Last year I did Shoutouts, where I put there icon in my journal and would write something nice about them. I am not gonna do this again this year because well, if you were in my previous shoutout journal, you would've also made it to this one. The same people that I enjoyed talking to last year have pretty much stayed the same, very nice people this year! So THANKYOU to those people again.
So, 2017 was a very succesfull year, could've done without the ridiculous drama and 'friends' backstabbing me, but it was still a fantastic year. I can't tell you how excited I am for 2018. If you read the whole Journal, please comment below to tell me what you liked about it or if you have any questions, or just want to post something! ^^

Going to Gdakon 2018 (registered, paid and flights booked)
Posted 8 years agoIt's official, I'm going to Gdakon 2018! I've already been there ealier this year in march at the 2017 edition. It was my first ever furry convention. Unfortunatly, some drama happened since my roomie got kicked out of the con on the 3rd day meaning i was alone for the remaining 2 days. It was very unfortunate to happen. However, despite this, I still had a wonderful time, made some good contacts and I gotta say, the people were so amazing. a lot of people treated me so nice after what happened and it just reinforces my love for this fandom. Thanks to everybody that were so kind to me.
So yeah, Registered, paid, got a roomie, booked flights. I only have to get my zloty (Polish currency) and book the train to the airport, which i will leave untill a month untill the con to do.
This time I will have a fantastic roomie, I will be there with
lightning-wolf and I know for a fact nothing bad will happen with my roomie. I'm really excited and can't wait, especially since I will be there with my own fursuit too!
So yeah, see you there!
If you wanna see about my experience at Gdakon, I suggest you take a peak into my Gdakon 2017 folder in my scraps to see the pictures of suiters I took. Or I suggest watching my Youtube video about it! https://youtu.be/3V_lBlSbH54
