General | Posted 13 years agoSo, Texas is pretty fucking cool. There is a slurry of interesting things, people, critters, and places that keep my fancy going at all times. The current place of my residence is causing me to have so much inspiration -- for life, for art, for everything. I will have things to post really soon that are both stretching my abilities and my body of work. I am really quite pleased with how this year is turning out, despite the rough start.
Commissions are still open, note me for more info. ;)

Texasbound
General | Posted 13 years agoTalk about springing forward! I will be moving to Texas by March 20th and I could not be more excited.
This will be my first 'adult/post-college' move. Hopefully I stick the landing.
I will be without my tablet and PC for a while, but fret not, I will return soon enough.
I can be reached via notes here or by email. Fancy phones help with keeping in touch.

Dreamsketches - $10-20
General | Posted 14 years agoI would like to draw for you. I don't know who 'you' are yet, or what form you want me to tackle, but I find that challenging. And a little scary. Browse my gallery, if you like my style, I am asking for $10-20 for a color dream-sketch. I call them this because when I do them, I zonk out and really get into it. I am not the best in the world, but I put my all into pieces.
I really do not have any qualms as to what I will not draw as I have never really drawn -everything- to know if I do not like doing it. So send me a FA note, and we'll discuss the details. If you would prefer it to remain anonymous, posted to my scraps, just saved somewhere on my computer, that's fine too. I am not really concerned with posting everything. I have plenty of personal work to fill up the spaces.
Depending on how many apply for these dream-sketches, I could get them back to you in 48 hours or so (essentially 2 days barring any odd circumstances) upon payment in full. I can only accept P A Y P A L. Due to recent silliness, please do not post anything FA or content related in the message box when you do pay. Please.
There will be 10 spots available. Please read this and follow my silly rules. Thanks.
Please copy the following form into the first note you send me.
I M P O R T A N T
M e d i a: Digital, or Real (there will be a little bit of a charge for shipping keep in mind!)
I d e a: (What would you like? Due to the nature of this, a series of words/places/music helps)
C h a r a c t e r(s): (Who—references, how many?)
(Anything else you think I should know.)
I, (your name), understand that I will be paying with Paypal only.

General | Posted 14 years agoTexas was supernatural.
I will be there hopefully within the next 6 months.
There was a point where I just stood out under the sky with a billion stars I had never seen and just cried.
It felt so good. To feel. That sounds a little crazy, but it was epiphany city there.
And, for once, I came to terms and adapted. I smiled so much.
I am still smiling.
Thank you to all those happy faces who were involved in my reawakening.
I miss y'all. Hope all is well.
You know who y'all are: See you soon!

Hurdles and Anthills
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, anyone close to me knows that I want to go to Texas.
I want to land on my feet somewhere in the Texas Triangle.
I want to go to Graduate school at UT:Austin.
To do this, I have to do a couple things while still in Florida.
-Pay down debt
-Get hired at national franchise (transferable opportunity)
-Graduate UWF in December
-Save some cash
I am pretty damn excited that the list is actually fairly do-able.
Consider this my admission to the universe.
My aim is to hold myself to it, especially if others know too.

No one should be allowed to play bully in order to win government approval in regards to spiritual or religious belief.

Please read and consider the following:
"The State of California, with help of the Conservative Christian Dominionist group the Wallbuilders, is arguing that religions like Wicca are not worthy of being protected by the First Amendment. If a federal court rules that Wicca and other Pagan religions are not worthy of equal status it means that every Pagan in the US could be fired from their job, lose their churches and covens, and be otherwise discriminated against. Please do not let a federal court take our rights away, this country is for everyone of every religion."
This is by far the biggest load of bullshit I have heard so far. Regardless of your actual beliefs, this is about the idea of somebody being able to decide what religion actually constitutes as valid and which ones do not. Calling this a 'slippery slope' is not only an understatement, but terrifying.
"Freedom of religion is considered by many people and nations to be a fundamental human right."
Please, sign this and show your support as a fellow human being, and as an American.

You Dubya Eff - Final Round
General | Posted 14 years agoIt still has not set in that I am graduating college with my first substantial degree -- a B.a. in Cultural Anthropology -- this December.
From there I am trying to move to Texas around Austin/San Antonio to go to grad school (eventually) at UT:Austin.
This will be my first move by myself. I will only relocate when I have enough of a buffer in savings, a job set up that can help me actually live, and possibly locate a roommate to make the living situation less scary. I still want to try to do it myself. I have to live a year in Texas to get state residency so Grad school is not like 3x's as much money.
Anyone have any advice that has lived in that part of Texas? Or moved out successfully and didn't have to immediately move back home?

Well, I know these are trickling in, but I suppose it is finally my turn. The trip down was long and hard on my butt, but overall enjoyable. As many of you might have heard me croak, I have not gotten to spend quality time in the Orlando area since I got bumped out by relatives back in late 06'-07' and immediately I know my cohort (Jor) was very much aware of the difference in my mood.
Thursday/Friday
Later in the evening to early, early friday morning was spent sleeping outside Megaplex in our car. This was due to poor planning on my part, underestimating the travel time from Pensacola to the Orlando area, and overall derp. Cricked necks all around, etc. Roughly around 7am Jor and I headed to the golden arches to consume some carbs, sugar, and caffeeeeeeen. We people watched on the bench by the elevators for a while, guessing who was going to 'didneywurld' and who was staying for the Con.
Again, more derp, and we sat there until after registration trying to figure out where we were supposed to register, then meandered passed the con security meeting (very awkward), and discovered the sizable line by the registration table clear on the opposite side of where we supposed it would be -- oops. Lines were seperated by pre-reg and registration, then by 'names.' I am noting this because that is what I do, and because it was a uniquely 'furry' perdicament. When the announcement was made to seperate A-M, N-Z at the pre-reg table, much hesitation was to be had. Amongst the mumbles, many were confused as to which name they meant! Fursona name, registered username, first, or last name. I think I overheard even if they meant by email. It sort of made me smile, as I have never seen this dilemma occur at any other sort of Convention. Ever. Thank you for reminding me what I was missing, fellow furries.
I spent the morning recognizing two people I knew were going to be in the dealers den, a cluster of my friends in artist's alley, eventually my roommate, and met all sorts of fun and new furs. I did my best to try to introduce myself to -everyone- so it is very, very difficult for me to remember who was who besides those I spent more than 10 minutes with. So.. I will not spotlight anyone cause I don't want anyone to feel left out. My meet-and-greet got semi-trolled by people who did not want to take my panel seriously and kept leaving and coming back in loudly, refusing to sit in my circle, and ultimately being a nuisance. Next year I will request a security person help me keep disruptions like that to a minimum. The same individuals attempted to derail my actual first Panel -but- were luckily shuffled away by some of my attendees so I really thank all that attended that one for the support, even in the very beginning. I realize I spoke about some really heavy information, but the overall interest by the attendees just blew me away. I most definitely will be having these types of panels again, aiming toward further participant observation, group discussion, and mutual exchange of information and learning.
After my panel I spent a good chunk of it derping around, I spent some time in the Sponsor lounge eating sushi which was delicious.. I had tuna nigiri. Like.. ten slices. I was so happy. I eventually checked out the pool party, got smooshed in the hottub by a bunch of very, veeerrry bearish-men and a few twinks, and nommed on some cake. Then I went to Uncle Kage's Story Hour which was hilarious, and I think I ended up dancing. And then arting. I was starting to feel foul at this point. The hotel staff used a room spray that was cinnamon based that caused me to have to start eating benadryl like candy. I got hives and my throat got angry.
Saturday
Early in the morning I got some awesome commissions set up. Saw the C.A.R.E. presentation and got my picture taken with a lovely skunk. Then went to Sea World as a surprise by Jor. That was awesome. I was a super big happy. They had surprise Axolotls. Spent the evening drawing and sleeping. Starting to design post-Apoc version of my Axolotl character and her name became Mumble. I think I am sticking with her for a little bit. She is incredibly fun. I cannot really recall what else I did that night.
Sunday
Sponsor breakfast was yummy, glanced at the Wedding which was definitely pretty fantastic and not something you see every Furry Con. I spent the majority of the first part of the day hanging out in the dealer's den, helping a couple new friends I made. My second panel was thankfully -not- trolled this time, had slightly more people attend, and I feel it really went a bit more solidly than my first run on Friday. I really hope that I went over well for them. My time went over, so I imagine that means the discussion was worth having. After that I had to run and grab my things from the dealer's den which was closing, helped new friends get said stuff to their car, during which the exchange of drow doodle occurred. Went to the feedback and closing ceremonies, I am glad that Megaplex got more attendees than they expected, hopefully this con will continue to grow and get better with each year. The evening was spent doing art trades! I HAD REAL ON THE FLY ART TRADES! It was so exciting, thanks to you two for doing so with me. By this time I had absolutely zero voice. Artist Alley was in its deaththrows and we all said our goodbyes and dispersed.
This was a great Con and I am looking forward to graduating, so thanks to all those who helped make this internship absolutely lovely. I am more sure than ever that this is the direction I should push for, and I will do everything in my power to see that I get to continue with my research and improve myself as an anthropologist. Thanks again and see ya next year. The theme is steampunk, how can I resist?

Commissions are open [1-2 slots only]
General | Posted 14 years agoTOS/FAQ/MISC/ETC.
Firstly and foremost, I always encourage open communication.
1.) Be as specific about what you want as possible, if you have a vague concept be prepared to give me a bit of artistic freedom. You are, after all, seeking me and my style, else you wouldn't be reading this.
2.) If you are unsure about proposed 'content', just ask. There is nothing that phases me, and I have a very short list of things I will not depict in my own art. I will discuss these on a case by case as it comes up with those requesting it, privately. There will never be any 'hard feelings.'
3.) I hold the right to refuse a commission, but will only do so -before- payment is even discussed. I will do my best to help you locate someone more suited to your desires, and I will never give you the cold shoulder unless you give me lip. ;D
4.) Due to the nature of my real media option, there will be no refunds once we have reached an agreement and I have begun sketching/washing the colors down for the piece.
5.) Pricing is based on my skill level, the time it takes, the supplies, and how many characters are involved. I make no claims to be a master, but I do put my heart and soul into every work I complete.
6.) Visual references are easier, but if we have a sit down and discuss 'description' only details that is alright too. I understand not everyone has references of their character concepts.
7.) All commissions on FA must be paid through PayPal only and in USD. (Goods or services- NOT GIFT)
8.) Slots will vary depending on available time.
9.) You must agree to my terms.
10.) Anything else, just ask!

Current Option(s):
[A.] 6"x9" watercolor real media
__base price $25__ (1 character, single color wash background)
+ extra character $15.00*
+ background $5.00*
*complexity surcharge +$5.00

Due to me heading to Megaplex 21-25th including visitations with Allon, I will only be accepting 1-2 slots at this time (leaning towards just one.) Work was kind and gave me a buncha hours (which is unusual) prior to my vacation, so my free time is not limitless. The slots are first come first serve. Note me if you are interested, payment is upfront. Check my gallery for examples, and often I will try to stream my sketching/painting but my internet is fussy. I will take lots of photos of progress if requested.
